There's cake for scoffing, backs for patting, and screeching death metal for all your METALLING moments. All welcome!

Our last thread reached 1000 posts so i hope you have all found your way here! I have steaming hot Brew chocolate croissants (or as my colleague said 'chocolate pasties'), blueberry muffins, grapefruit segments and hot buttered toast for brekkie!

Settle into the mosh pit, we have special VIP area's for those on the 2WW, the new bumps metalling with segregated areas for the first/second/third trimesters and the club class cocktail bar for those who have just got AF and can get-pissed let loose for the first two weeks!

It's due today pebspop (16dpo) and it seems to be starting. The temp drop was pretty clear (still well above cover line, but a large drop because it was very high), so I don't really have any doubt about what's happening.

This month I really wouldn't have known if it wasn't for feeling ill so early on. Last month I got to 20 dpo so it was more obvious. Have other people had two cps in consecutive months? I told my dp this morning and I know he is a bit worried that there's something wrong that's causing this to happen.

I'm also cross because I've now spent four of the last eight weeks feeling rough and having to go to bed at 9pm in order to get through the work day, with nothing to show for it.

But I realise these v. early losses are very manageable compared to later ones so I'm grateful for that at least.

pebspop · 18/02/2012 09:39

kali i would get an appointment with your gp to discuss the cps. they might be able to do something for you.

sorry to hear af got you this month.

kalidasa · 18/02/2012 10:37

Thanks pebs. We've actually just moved house and I haven't registered with a GP yet but I should. I wasn't sure there was much point mentioning this to a GP especially as we only just started trying. But if it happens again I definitely will.

Maybe I should talk to my mother too as I know she mc quite a lot but I don't really know the details, and I suppose there weren't these very sensitive hpts then. I wasn't planning to tell her we were trying until we'd succeeded but I suppose it might be helpful to know more about her experience. I am one of five so that's encouraging at least!

NoMoreMarbles · 18/02/2012 11:41

kali Sadsorry to see this is happening again. I have had a CP,AF,CP kind of pattern early on in TTC so no consecutive months but it can happen clearly as it has to youSad I would definitely see the GP and get it recorded in your notes as if you have 3 they should be happy to refer you to RMC for investigations.

kalidasa · 18/02/2012 12:34

Thanks NoMoreMarbles I didn't know that. I thought it had to be three losses after five weeks or so to "count". I should be able to work from home at least one day next week so I'll find a surgery and try and get an appointment for then.

NoMoreMarbles · 18/02/2012 12:46

I was referred after a 14week, 5week and 4.5week by my GP so it is definitely possible. Have you had your thyroid checked? Over/under active thyroid can cause CPs mine was undiagnosed UA thyroid and lupus was discovered on the BTs in the RMC so worth trying for a referral if it happens again.

MarthasHarbour · 18/02/2012 14:20

just bobbing in to say hi, sorry for not name checking as dont have much time, will try to catch up with everyone over the weekend.

MissC did you get the scan sorted, i presume you didnt go this morning?

OP posts:
kalidasa · 18/02/2012 14:20

Thanks. I had my thyroid checked a few years ago and it was fine then. DP is concerned because I have a history of rheumatoid arthritis (currently much better - it was mostly as a child/young adult) but I do have one joint that I think is slightly active. His concern is that an auto-immune condition might contribute to early miscarriage. I can see his reasoning though I'm not sure if it's true. Did they think your lupus was significant re: your history of miscarriage?

madaboutmadmen · 18/02/2012 18:06

Thanks Marbles for the clarity around how far along you have to be for it to count. Hoping it won't be handy to know on Monday if my scan shows I've had a 3rd, IYSWIM.

Hi to everyone else, just popping in quick to keep up to date with how you're all doing. Will update after scan on Monday, should be 7+4 according to my dates. Keep everything crossed for me Smile

MandaHugNKiss · 18/02/2012 18:50

mad deffo keeping all crossables crossed.

Wrt to CP's I think different GP's seems to have differing opinions (and as it's usually them who refers us on to rmc or somesuch then it's what counts). So. It 'pays' to go to your most sympathetic gp (if you see several in a practice) or to, perhaps, fudge the figures ever so slightly - I mean, really, are they so pedantic to class a loss at 5weeks as a 'proper' loss but before that it doesn't count? The thing is, one or two, fine... but repeated CP's would suggest something outside of garden variety 'bad luck' and warrants looking into imvho. I know GPs are under more pressure since gaining control of their budgets but, yeah, the point of this ramble is to get a sympathetic GP.

And, as for me, well, Headmasters have emailed and text me these last couple of days to inform me their colour sale starts tomorrow. Fate? Maybe. I think I may just have to go to them to get more/brighter lights put in because it's just silly to get so down about my hair (all things considered!)

Love to all my moshers/metallers!

madaboutmadmen · 18/02/2012 19:43

Manda, thanks for the info, glad you're feeling better about your hair.

I think my GP is sympathetic, he gave me time off work after last mc. both my mcs have been mmcs but the first one happened at 4+3 but nothing until 6+3. I assume they look at the date the pregnancy stopped developing rather than the date the physical side of the mc started?

I must admit to not feeling super confident at the moment. Symptoms are not increasing, I have virtually no nausea, slightly sore boobs, very bloated belly (could be chocolate!) and tired but not overwhelmingly so. Isn't looking good. anyway will try not count my chickens and a lot of you have had it a lot worse than me xx

MarthasHarbour · 18/02/2012 20:00

madmen i mean this affectionately - this is not a competition - in that none of us think we have had it worse than others, if you are feeling concerned then we are all there for you x

OP posts:
madaboutmadmen · 18/02/2012 20:56

No I know that Martha, I know what you mean, just don't like to whinge when I see what others have been through. Thanks for the support, this thread is a big help.

Must stay positive Smile x

NoMoreMarbles · 18/02/2012 23:58

kali because of the blood test results it is likely that the lupus is the main cause and my thyroid levels are now under control and I'm still having losses so lupus seems to be my "reason" Hmm crappy but at least I know ya know? Plus lupus has periods of remission so I'm hopeful for one of these too soonSmile

NoMoreMarbles · 19/02/2012 02:21

madabout I agree with martha it really isn't a competition and don't feel you can't share/vent/whatever just because you feel less...I don't know...affected maybe? You have lost what we all have whether it is 1 or 100 babies (I always see my losses as a baby whether it's at 4+5 or 14+2 rightly or wrongly it was always a baby to meSad) we are in this boat together...

I realised before that in he last 9 days DH and I have only had 1 day without DTDShock that's the most sex we have had in a long while (or consecutive sexBlush) I hope we can keep it going for the next 10daysGrin

madaboutmadmen · 19/02/2012 07:32

Thanks Marbles, means a lot. I was sleeping fast when you wrote that! LO slept through, a rare thing these days Grin

InsomniaQueen · 19/02/2012 11:58

Morning ladies - sorry for my long absence and lack of posting......things in IQ land have a been a little trying over the past few weeks. To give a quick round up my two main problems are:

  • my gramps has been in and out of hospital with a huge number of issues, they don't seem to be doing anything to really help him and he is living with almost constant pain. It is an awful thing to see and making me worried he won't be around to at least meet mini IQ.
  • I've been having sporadic contractions every 3 or so days and so have been in and out of hospital because of feared 'pre-term' labour. I think I'm going to rename the LO 'the baby who cried labour'!!!!
  • the last MW I saw mobilised my hernia and I spent a day puking and hoping to god I could get it all back in there before surgery was needed.

At the moment the baby seems to be going from strength to strength, looks great on the monitors and still very active despite getting towards 'term' (I'm 36 weeks today) so Im counting my blessings right now at least in this case. Currently feeling like he'll as we were in hospital between midnight and 6 this morning being checked again - despite getting regular tightenings no labour has started. But on the plus side the MW team at this hospital were very good, explained everything they were doing and looking for and the doctor who gave me an internal (shudder) was very gentle and sweet which made the whole process manageable and I feel much more positive about that side if things now.

So sorry I've been so rubbish at catching up - I will try to get back into things over the next few days. Hope all the bumps (old and new) are well and sending positive thoughts out to all of you TTC. I will find the stats thread and update myself so that I can at least make a start in finding out who is where!!

Love to all xxxx

kalidasa · 19/02/2012 16:39

Thanks for all the advice re: seeing the GP, I'll do that.

Bleeding started properly today with bad cramps - like a fairly ordinary heavy period though a bit "thicker". At least I can take some proper painkillers for it, and once again I feel otherwise physically better almost immediately - tired but much less sick and dizzy already.

I admit I am worried about this happening twice in consecutive months. But really hoping that it's just chance.

Hope everyone else is doing OK today.

MissCoffeeNWine · 19/02/2012 20:03

Welcome back IQ I'm sorry about your Grandad and troubles :( 36 weeks is great though, fingers crossed for a couple more weeks and mini-IQ can put in a grand appearance.

hope you feel more cheerful soon kalidasa and madmen

martha nope, no scan sorted, I've pretty much given up on the whole thing. The stress wasn't worth it so I just went back to bed and tried to sleep off this horrid bug. I've decided I'm on my own care-wise again as clearly noone gives a shit and it's just as bad as last time, legitimate worries and should-be-checked-out symptoms just being ignored, and noone ever answering the phone. I'll be at work tomorrow and they only have my home phone number so if they try and call they won't get an answer. Still, only 3 weeks and 1 day until my '12 week scan' (I'm nearly 11 weeks now) and it's not like there's any cures for MMC is it.

Poppyjen · 19/02/2012 20:05

Hello ladies just a quick one to say hello (sorry not to name-check) and to say I am quietly metalling this evening as it is my 12 week scan tomorrow morning at 9am [eeek emoticon]. DH and I also out tomorrow for a (very) rare evening out so hopefully we'll be celebrating....

Also wanted to say a big hello to IQ good luck with everything lovely, I am reliving my pregnancy with DS when I think of you - he was due on 15th March 2010 so this time 2 years ago I was in the zone so to speak Grin - in the end he wasn't born until 31st March but that's another story!

Hang in there, and keep letting us know how you are doing!

Right - back to the metalling.....

MarthasHarbour · 19/02/2012 20:09

madmen i hope you didnt mind me saying that Blush i had to dash off as DS has been poorly this weekend and i kind of left half way through trying to explain. but you get what i mean, i know that i havent been through half of what some people here have but they are all soooo supportive and never make me feel less 'worthy'. I had a MC at 10+2 as well as a CP at 4+3, in fact i was more distraught about the CP (i think because it came after the MC).

Good to hear from you IQ you are in a good zone now, even if the baby comes early it will be fine, a friend of a friend gave birth at 35 weeks and bambino was in SCBU for a few days but that was only for observations. I am sooo looking forward to your news Smile

Well as i said DS has been poorly, he kept us up last night as he vomited (only once thankfully) but was running a high temp and restless, he decided he wanted to sleep with me so DH and he swapped beds! DS then slept through but the sod was kicking me and turning cartwheels in his sleep Hmm looks like i am off work tomorrow with him as he relapsed tonight Sad i hate hate hate it when he is poorly

oh and his breath always smells rank when he is off colour - i had to turn my back on him when sleeping last night!! he is like a blimmin teenager already Grin

How about a come dine with me sunday night special? I have left DH to look after DS so have prepared a dinner of home made roast pepper houmus with crusty bread for starters, main course is pasta with pesto, spinach, mushroom garlic and onion with strips of grilled chicken for the carnivores, dessert is a sumptuous chocolate pudding with extra thick double cream... washed down with a delightful Sauvignon Blanc or Schloer for the preggy ladies?

OP posts:
MissCoffeeNWine · 19/02/2012 20:13

Oh good luck with the scan Poppy!!

I should have been in the zone too actually as mini-toe should have been due the week after mini-IQ. Ah well.

MarthasHarbour · 19/02/2012 20:13

oh IQ i meant to say that i am sorry your grandad is so poorly, sending love from me xx

MissC Angry on your behalf, although my area is pretty similar, they give no weight to previous MC's when you are PG again, although i wasnt as far along as you, the postcode lottery is crap - you take care.

poppy all the very best for tomorrow, it WILL be amazing Smile and we look forward to hearing all about your bouncing bean

OP posts:
MissCoffeeNWine · 19/02/2012 20:17

Bloody hell Martha now I am starving! Will just have to go and raid the fridge for not-recommended-in-pregnancy-foods (I'm pretty eyerolly about stuff like that) but nothing as good as your menu Envy

Hope DS feels better soon.

MarthasHarbour · 19/02/2012 20:27

MissC come on over - i deliberately avoided the appropriate foods for the menu!
