Lol to the wait and return story Kittens showed my dh which made him chuckle. Grin. The things we have to do to try and have a baby, honestly these people that just pop them out have no idea!!
If we could have got near the fertility giant would have given it a go. willing to try most things these days! Wink. We went to the viewing platform which was miles away.
Just on way home from appointment with Mr S which was bit of a waste of time tbh. He just told me what Cheryl said on the phone. He said it was bad news that the treatment wasn't working until I reminded him hadn't actually started any yet!! He never seems to remember me and then goes through my treatment plan again. Does anyone else get that or is it just me?!

scooterchaser · 30/01/2012 16:53

Oh dear iggi hope you are recovering!

free so jealous of the Caribbean trip, I am missing the sunshine like crazy, got a bit used to it and would love to go back and make up for the days we missed while having our hospital adventure! My mum went out to the same place yesterday and I was close to stowing away in her case. Hope you have a lovely, relaxing trip, just what the doc ordered.

Thanks for all the kind words about DS, he got his all clear from the pneumonia this morning :)

Chased my follow up appointment again this morning and been waiting for a call all day so no news there. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of travelling delaying AF? We flew home Monday and i have been waiting since Wednesday (CD29) and no appearance.. We have been having our two month break from pred and extra carefully been avoiding ttc so not an exciting no-show, just a confusing one!!

Thanks so much digi for the vitamins and tests, perhaps I will use one now just to rule out immaculate conception!

snoopygirl · 30/01/2012 17:02

free have a great holiday. That's lovely that your little dream came true of being nicely pregnant and relaxing on a Carribean beach. Just think of us baring up in 0 degrees! Smile

stogan lovely big cuddly buba aahh ...not too big thou eh

kittens you should write a book about all this, thats hilarious!

iggi not nice hope all ok now. I remember with DS I was 4 months gone and ate a satsuma at breakfast - and shortly afterwards has projectile vomitting all over living room wall, though to hall and proceeded to slip up in it running to toilet and landed on arse crying thinking I'd hurt baby. Nightmare. God men get away with so much!!

pico never taken Omeprazole as I was told! Just thought I would take it if I needed and haven't so far.

snoopygirl · 30/01/2012 17:07

x posts scooter so glad DS ok. Flying didn't delay anything for me weird.

pebbles no Dr S so far been ok. Spose he's massivley busy but anyway you are paying for that and I would be peed off to as it's costs so much when you could got same info off secretary. Or are you through NHS?

scooterchaser · 30/01/2012 17:08

X-posts with you pebbles sorry to hear your appointment wasn't all that helpful. It must've been frustrating to go through your treatment plan again when appointment time is so precious. I have only seen Dr S himself once back in July for 5 mins so I would be amazed if he even recognises me next time and know I will have to start my history from the very beginning. Expect others who have seen him more often/had scans with him have a different experience though. Are you seeing him on the NHS?

scooterchaser · 30/01/2012 17:10

snoopy xposts again... great minds think alike :)

digitalgirl · 30/01/2012 17:51

So here I am at 29 weeks. Can't believe I hit the 30s next week. Have booked theatre tickets to celebrate. And also to try and cram in a few more datenights while we can.

kittens hilarious Grin. I don't think SA's can ever be done with a straight face. I remember DH doing his sample and me and DS sitting in the car while he 'sorted himself out' upstairs so we were all ready to drive to the hospital and drop it off asap.

free have an amazing holiday. How long are you going for again? So jealous!

Thought I'd update list again as it's easy to do when it's only adding 1 day.

brownie If you're out there, just wondering how you are. Am assuming you had anomaly scan by now, hope all's well.

Pebbles73 · 30/01/2012 19:17

In general I amseeing him privately but luckily was able to claim for the miscarriage bit and this follow up appointment on my private healthcare. :)

PQ77 · 30/01/2012 21:03

great news stogan - big babies sleep so much better (at least that was my sleep deprived perspective having had a tiddler) and it's the size of the head that causes the ouch factor rather than the overall weight (now you'll tell me the head circumference is in the 99th centile Grin)

Kittens still laughing about that courier. What a job (with the optional handling fee he must do v well).

I've looked on that NZ webiste a bit as you can imagine. My NZ docs have always said that what I have is not just "bad luck" even after 2 mc they were encouraging me to get tested for all sorts of things whereas st thomas' mc clinic is still wheeling out the bad luck line after 6 mc. more cautious medical establishment over here and reticience to have another (eg) thalidomide or dea scandal on their hands? In NZ there is a no fault govt funded compensation scheme for medical misadventure and generally you cannot sue. So perhaps the risk of litigation here means more caution. But then that argument doesnt work when this immunotherapy programme is popular in the US and it is a very litigious society

pebbles I've found mr s's "bedside manner" streets ahead of all other consultants I have seen in the uk both public and private. I'm sorry you feel that you are not being remembered - v frustrating (I have often recouted my long boring history at nhs appts only to have it summarised totally inaccurately in a letter back to my gp so I do appreciate that sense of not being listened to).

scooter I am usually v regular but long haul flying is the one thing that does mess up my cycle

29 weeks digi! Hope you get in many many date nights

Hi everyone else Smile

suemays · 30/01/2012 21:27

AF arrived for me this morning so I am out again this month. Really fed up as was sure this month would be the lucky one! Can someone move me to the waiting to ovulate section next time it's done.

Well done Digi on getting to 30 weeks! Not long to go now!

Pebbles I have only seen Dr S twice but didnt feel rushed etc. I know he is mega busy so maybe had another appointment but thats no excuse. Just goes to show you how many women need his services!

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 30/01/2012 21:27

Evening all! Just a quickie, I'm actually working (still on my IT project), just taking a quick break while things Do Their Stuff.

LMAO at kittens tale, I can't imagine chaps having to do the SA stuff is too pleasant .. makes up just a teeny bit for all the embarrassing things we have done to us! Just a bit :)

pebbles I have to say Mr S has always had a brilliant manner when I've seen him, he actually did make me (and DP) feel he cared about what we were going through and indeed seemed to take our last miscarriage (first on the treatment) personally, as it was his own fault. I'm sorry you had a different experience, maybe he was having an off day?

scooter oddly long haul flying always brings on my AF within a couple of days. Actually that was what made me think I was pg with my DD, having flown back from South Africa three days after I realised I hadn't had any bleeding, so went to check and bingo, pg. So I guess flying can most definitely mess up your cycles!

Having an AARRGGHH moment here. I'm 11dpo tomorrow, and I swore to myself I would NOT test before 12dpo (major sore bbs here mind you), but I find small thoughts of "well you could always take a trial test tomorrow, couldn't you, purely out of curiosity, not because it means anything much" keep insinuating into thoughts I'm supposed to be having about other things. I do NOT want to test until Wed, 12dpo, how on earth do I stop myself tomorrow morning!!! Oh I'm just so rubbish at willpower, I swear those FRERs in my bedside drawer are shouting at me!! Stop me, someone ...

Arianrhod · 30/01/2012 21:29

Darn, I meant to say "Mr S seemed to take our last miscarriage personally as IF it was his own fault", not "as it was his own fault", which blatantly obviously it wasn't!!! Doh! :(

ChoccyPud · 30/01/2012 21:41

Yeah, Ari but the sooner you test, if you're pg, the sooner you can go up to 40 and get an appt for intralipids... You only really start with the headfuck when you keep testing again and again after the first BFP. If you don't do one tomorrow am, you know you'll be wondering all day esp of you feel like you could be pg.

Btw kittens dh is still laughing at your "wait and return" courier. Classic.

Hello all. V jealous of free off lying on a beach. I'm still in the "impossible to book a big holiday coz we don't know if we'll be pg/recently mc'd/broke" stage. Priorities though isn't it, we can always book something to fit in with dates once I'm reasonaly safely upduffed. If/when that happens obv!

Arianrhod · 30/01/2012 21:44

choccy you're not doing my willpower any good at all Grin I hear what you're saying, and your point is absolutely 100% valid .. but my worry is, if I do somehow miraculously get a double-line scenario, 11dpo is early to test and I may well get another faint line. I will go out of my mind mentalling if that happens. I've always been "lucky" testing on 12dpo, so that's what I'd rather do. I'm sure that makes very little sense at all, but I'm going to try.

Knowing my luck though, this will all turn out to be a moot issue anyway - it'll end up neg anyway, and I have been resisting for nothing! lol

suemays · 30/01/2012 22:38

Ari wait until 12DPO as I doubt you would have anything at 11! No doubt you will do one tomorrow though!!!

hi arian- i know you prob already all there is to know about fertility and trying to get preg but i i thought i would share anyway. i tried for years using just clearblue fertility monitor and nothing , then last year i read this book called taking charge of your fertility and i used the monitor , temperature and started trying as soon as i spotted fluid not when the monitor said i should, the monitor usually said med fertility within a couple of days after that but we tried every second day until the monitor day low ( usually 1 week ) hubby also started taking mens conception vits + zinc+vitc + selenium for him while i was on pregnacare. i dont know if it was just luck or it actually worked but since we started this i fell preg 3 times. not sure if your already doing this but thought it was worth a mention.

free- happy holidays

PQ77 · 31/01/2012 08:43

Meant also to say hello duggs and welcome back from vegas. And I also meant to ask - so you can try again this cycle and you don't have to wait after your op? Which is good news isn't it?

ChoccyPud · 31/01/2012 09:04

Back on the rollercoaster again eh Ari?!

Lurking for news... :)

Arianrhod · 31/01/2012 09:44

lol Ok choccy, you know me too well, I'm utterly rubbish I confess. Do you know, I was bloomin' dreaming about it all night ... well the bits of the night I was asleep, that is, grrrrrr at DP snoring all night! :( I decided in the end I would test this morning purely on the grounds that if it came up neg then I could stop the steroids, and sure enough, 11dpo and a huge big fat zilch, zero, not even a hint of a hint of a line. And bbs have stopped hurting. So that's that then, at least I know. On to next month I guess, do it allllllllll over again ... :(

eurochick · 31/01/2012 10:31

Pebbles were you there yesterday afternoon? We probably passed one another! I was his last appointment of the day (4.20).

I have found Mr S has a good manner. he does occasionally forget details (e.g. he thought when I saw him during my first cycle that I was on 5mg Letrozole rather than 2.5. I think he usually starts people on 5 but took my first dose down because of the borderline polycycstic appearance of my ovaries when he scanned). I think that is understandable given the amount of people who he must see in a day. I always make sure with any dr that if I am asking a Q I include relevant info in it rather than relying on them remembering all relevant details, if you know what I mean.

Havingkittens · 31/01/2012 11:21

Euro, what was the upshot of your appointment? Had you OV'd over the weekend? Or are you still in time for your trigger shot?

BTW, these injections.... do they hurt? I'm a bit scared of the idea of injecting myself.

duggs1976 · 31/01/2012 13:24

hey ladies..yes am back.. on cd7 now.. going to try IUI this cycle.. see what happens.. 5th cycle with pred..glad to catch up on all the news..Smile

eurochick · 31/01/2012 13:33

Kittens yes, there was a clearly visible corpus lutuem on one side so I have definitely oved although he said he couldn't tell how many eggs. So that is two cycles with missed trigger shots, but the good news is that he couldn't see anything problematic after all the pain on Saturday. He mentioned that sometimes there can be a small bleed that causes a disproportionate amount of pain, so maybe it was that. Whatever it was, there doesn't seem to be any reason not to continue with the Letrozole. I take the view that I am happy to tolerate the pain and the side effects if it is not doing me harm and might be helping. I was just worried about what was casing the pain and the possibility of large amounts of eggs being released. He has allayed my concerns on those scores.

Welcome back Duggs. Sounds like it was quite a trip!

Arianrhod · 31/01/2012 14:05

Hi ladies ... next time someone updates the list, can you move me back to waiting to ovulate? Started spotting this afternoon, so I could have saved myself an FRER!!

Pebbles73 · 31/01/2012 14:16

Don't get me wrong about Mr S he is alwyas lovely and he really listens to you, he just seems to get confused with me!!
My appointment was 3.45pm at Harley St Euro as much easier than nlc. Which were you at?

So sorry about your negative Arian could still be a bit early though?

The injections are not as bad as you are probably imagining Kittens. Then again I am not squemish or anything. The needles are generally quite fine on these pre loaded syringes, the ones you fill yourself in ivf can hurt a bit.....
