How exciting duggs! I should be ovulating this weekend so we'll be testing around the same time. Been meaning to post on here for days but various things have got in the way (including actually doing some work and receiving the box set of season 3 of the wire)

Great scan news battery and merc.

kittens I am glad you made your delivery safely albeit stressfully. ..my dh made such a fuss about the one appt he had to go to and give a sample & have blood tests - he had a few choice words from me about what was involved in my many ops and appts. now he has the nerve to complain about the extra vitamins I'm trying to get him to swallow. But he's just got those invisalign braces (it's not because he is a vain movie star but because he has a tooth growing 90 degrees the wrong way and he never smiles because he's so self conscious of it - even in out wedding photos) anyway these braces are apparently the most painful things in the whole world didn't you know, worse than childbirth etc etc. Men. Grrr.

free your second hand baby stuff in my empty nursery is drawing a few odd looks from visitors to our house - I forget to mention it's for you so I now realise in retrospect that everyone will think I am pregnant again and getting out all the baby stuff but they're too scared to say anything to me. Oh well! hope you are getting some work done and also lots of quality holiday relaxing. How great you have the Doppler with you.

pico just thinking about facials etc - it had crossed my mind that kittens could make a fourtune helping us with "look good feel better" type prednisolone makeovers (you know, dark circles, puffy face....)

digi so glad you have some good freelance possibilities lined up for your mat leave. Tis such a minefield how to keep your career alive but still see your dc. And I do empathise with having a self employed dh. Whenever I see my dh [rarely] all he can talk about (in addition to his braces) is how grim the business environment is and how he doesnt know if he'll have any work a month from now. So depressing.

Big hello and wave to everyone, especially the new people.

Off to a dance party now. No, not that sort, but one for a toddler's birthday in a church hall.

PQ77 · 04/02/2012 13:15

Oooo just seen digi's post - congrats buster!

batteryhen · 04/02/2012 18:07

buster I didn't see your pg either - lovely news xx
duggs I know know know this has to be your time. I am keeping myfingers crossed foryou xx
digi I hope your mat leave works out. I intend to take 6 months if possible but that is only because my current contract runs out in December this year. If we become very skint then I may have to get a new job earlier!
merc Fac scan news :)
free I am so jealous of the beach .... expecting snow here and it is freezing!!

Eeeek that I might make 2nd trimester - that is first for me!! I got a letter today with all my appointment for scans on. Will update the list now xx

Big wave to everyone xx

eurochick · 05/02/2012 11:05

Ladies, do any of you feel implantation? What does it feel like for you?

I ask because in a few of my early cycles I had a sort of dragging feeling in my womb area. Then I didn't get it it for ages. It was back last week, at 4-7dpo. I would feel it in one area, then a few hours later in another area, and then another area and so on. It has now stopped.

It feels a bit like someone drawing a fingernail slowly across your palm. I am not getting excited because I have had it several times before without ever getting a BFP but I am curious as to what it is. I wonder if the pred has brought my nk levels back down to where they were about a year ago when I was feeling this most cycles. And if so, why wasn't I getting a BFP then?

Maybe it is nothing to do with implantation at all, but I don't remember ever feeling it pre-ttc.

digitalgirl · 05/02/2012 14:21

euro Implantation tends to happen 7-10dpo. So anything you're feeling before this time is most likely the progesterone building up your lining. I tend to get very early morning cramping around cd10 on the cycles I've conceived. The very first time conceived (with ds) I felt this early morning cramping for about three days. Was quite intense and I wondered if I'd miscalculated my ov date and was about to get my period. However subsequent implantations haven't been as intense. Maybe only a day. And I've only ever had an implantation bleed once out of the 6 bfps I've had.

On non-bfp cycles I do still get af-type cramping around 5-7dpo which I've always put down to progesterone. When I wasn't ttc I didn't pay much attention to the cramping - just thought it was my bodys way of reminding me to look out for af.

How many dpo are you now?

eurochick · 05/02/2012 15:12

Thanks digi. I thought implantation could happen any time between 3 and 10ish dpo, averaging around 7dpo. The was what I read somewhere anyway. This feeling is distinct from cramping. I get that too in the lead up to AF. This is different. It is definitely a dragging sensation. Like a little tiny anchor being drawn across my lower abdomen, very slowly.

I'm 9dpo now.

suemays · 05/02/2012 16:36

euro I had those dragging feelings last month around 9dpo but it turned out to be nothing for me. I think when you really want something you analyse every twinge etc. fingers crossed it is implantation for you though. I am not going to take any notice of twinges etc from now as it dives you mad!

snoopygirl · 05/02/2012 16:40

euro strange sensation??? interesting....never felt any dragging feeling before but small intense achey pain last month on and off when got bfp particularly on right side.

Today I am coming to end of ov although only tested on tues and got faint line (only used 1 stick how good am I being!) but been swiing day on and off since and shall continue for a bit. I have lots of pinging (like elastic band) feelings on right hand side. I thought I remembered someone talking about this before, don't know what it is. i googled something about it and got something quite unexpected Shock and nothing to do with ov!!

kittens had to read your post re sample delivery and the effort your OH put in to my OH.........made him laugh. Poor lambs how do they cope!!

Hope you are all enjoying snow, had about 4 inches brilliant but now melting a bit. Must say looking forward to spring now though.

eurochick · 05/02/2012 16:56

sue I know what you mean. The first few months we were ttc I got these feelings. Then I didn't for months and I wondered if I had been imagining them. Last week they were definitely back. I also got them the time I got watery pink blood before we were trying properly. That was followed by a weird bleed before my period would normally have been due and I think it might have been a chem preg.

Maybe I am just mentalling but it is an odd sensation. Different to pre-AF cramps, AF cramps, pre-ov twinges and ov pain! They are all quite distinct feelings for me.

Pebbles73 · 05/02/2012 18:01

Hi all - hope you are all enjoying the snow! Was wondering what ovulation pains feel like as never seem to have any??

batteryhen · 05/02/2012 18:09

Hello everyone :)

I had implantation pains - sort of a low dragging sensation. However, when I was convinced I had implantation pains - AF arrived too. :( seems pre AF pains and implantation pains are the same for me!

Ovulation pains - some get them on one side, like a dull ache, but I used to get a day of just feeling pre AF - like a bloated abdominal pain.

I am hoping all these aches and pains are good signs for people!

As for me - crap day here., I have had lots of stretchy pains, stitch like. Also have had some diarrohea (sorry) and just feeling crap. I am going to have a sick day tomorrow - I just need to catch up on some sleep and have some me time.

I hope everyone is ok xx

GreenOlives · 05/02/2012 18:39

Hi ladies, I wonder if you could answer some questions for me? I have been TTC DC2 for 2.8 years (have DS aged 3.8). In that time I've had 2 early miscarriages, an ectopic (lost my left tube) and most recently a CP at Christmas. I've had RMC testing with NHS and all tests have come back ok. I have booked to see Mr S at The Miscarriage Clinic on 20th Feb to have NK cells tested as that seems to be the only thing missing from the NHS tests. What I'm wondering is how long do the test results take to come back? And do you have to go back for the results consultation or can that be done over the telephone? Also at the results consultation if my levels are high will Mr S discuss the treatment plan then? The reason I ask is that my NHS consultant is very supportive and has basically said he doesn't want me to have to pay for treatment and so he would be willing to prescribe steriods etc as part of my NHS treatment (and offer more scans etc) He wants to see me again when I have the NK cells results and see what he can offer me. So I guess I'm wondering whether Mr S will be open about a treatment plan if I'm not signing up to pay for the treatment?

Thanks for reading, I'm inspired by all the success stories on this thread and I wish all of you who are pregnant a happy and healthy pregnancy and a speedy BFP for those TTC! Smile

eurochick · 05/02/2012 18:48

Hi Olives. It took around 2 weeks I think to have my follow up my consultation with my results available. I was happy to do it in person as I am in London anyway so I don't know if it is possible to do a telephone consultation. It was at the second appointment that the treatment plan was discussed although I already knew what to expect from reading these ladies. I guess you could have the second appointment and discuss the treatment plan with Mr S and then decide whether you want to carry on with him or your NHS consultant. Mr S does for instance tinker with the treatment if someone has an mc on his standard treatment plan, and has a different treatment for people with very high NK levels. It's good to hear that you have an understanding NHS consultant.

Depending on cycle timings, I should be heading to see Mr S around 20 Feb so we might cross paths in the waiting room!

Stogan · 05/02/2012 18:53

Hi greenolives and welcome Grin
The test results take up to 2 weeks to come back and u go back to see mr s to get them at which point he gives u the treatment plan and a prescription. It's then up to u whether u get his prescription or if ur gp is supportive ( u lucky thing !) they can re write the prescription for you. Not sure if u HAVE to go back to mr s for results or can get over the phone but I chose to go and see him (long way from Carlisle to Epsom but I wanted to make sure he was giving me his full attention as it meant everything to us and Id heard that if u get results over the phone he doesn't seem interested, just what I heard )
X

suemays · 05/02/2012 20:13

Hi Greenolives, it you do have v high nk cells mr s would give you intrallipids every 2 weeks from bfp so not sure if your nhs consultant could do that. As said by one of the other ladies he would also tailor make the plan for depending on your results. I asked if I could have the results over the phone but he wouldn't let me, maybe as you have to pay to see him every time.

OP posts:
picolina123 · 06/02/2012 07:19

PQ77 Excellent idea, we could do with some serious pampering
DIGI i got my scan date wrong, its this wed not next, the 8th. i think im 8-9 weeks but will confirm when they do as my cycle is only 26 days and i ovulated on the 23/24 dec

igggi · 06/02/2012 09:07

Battery I hope you get some rest today, sounds hard on you.
Greenolives, I think the minimum you'd need to do is the initial consultation for the tests and one to get the results. I got results over the phone but that was on the basis that I would then have an appt to discuss the treatment plan. Once you have a plan in place I can't see why Dr S would care if someone else prescribes the meds for you (I don't think he makes money out of that part!). You are incredibly lucky to have a supportive consultant! Though of course that's what we all should have as a minimum. Sad

suemays · 06/02/2012 09:15

Iggi mr s does make money out of writing prescriptions as he charges £100 to write them if you don't have an appointment with him.

OP posts:
igggi · 06/02/2012 09:20

Oh, I've only received a prescription at an appointment so haven't been charged that. But once you have the prescription, if your gp fills it (as I know a few people on the thread have had done for them) or you go to the chemist doesn't make a difference to him, does it? What I might worry about in greenolive's position is that the consultant might propose a different treatment plan, based on her results, than Mr S would.

suemays · 06/02/2012 10:07

I have had my gp convert the steroids and progesterone to an nhs prescription so that saved money but they won't do any of the super ov drugs. I agree with you iggi I think it's important to get the prescription from mr s as he changes it to each patient. A local consultant does not have the expertise of mr s.

OP posts:
batteryhen · 06/02/2012 10:31

Hello from the sofa. I have taken the day off - had a big sleep and feel better for it.

With regards to seeing Mr S - I saw him for the initial tests and then again for the results. I haven't seen him since. I know he likes to see you after the first 3 months of taking pred, but I fell pg shortly after that. I was also seeing St Marys by that point so was being scanned every 2 weeks for free. I couldn't see the point of paying for a scan with him when I was getting them for nothing at st marys and my local hospital. I know Louise said the 9 week scan was important - so they could check the hb was ok aand fast enough etc, but I thought - what would they do if the hb was a bit slow?? So basically I stuck with my local hospital and St Marys. I am also lucky in that my GP will prescribe the pred when I need it.

Everyone is different though and should do what they feel comfortable with xx

On other news - I heard baby's hb on the doppler ast night! My friend lent me one for my last pg and I haven't used it yet but because I felt so crap yesterday I tried it last night. It took a while but definitey heard it. I won't use it again unless I am worrried - it causes me stress!

I hope everyone is ok today xx
