free enjoy your hols!

battery that sounds like a trying day but I am glad the outcome was good.

I find the whole subject really interesting, pico. I don't think I have always had great immunity. I used to get every cold and bug going until recently. I now get this thing where I can feel that I have been in contact with a bug (I get slightly muzzy headed or maybe the glands in my neck swell a little for a day or so) but it never comes out anymore. I seem to fight it off. Also, I had verrucaes from from teenage years onwards (the school made us do gym barefoot so the whole class ended up with them - twattish PE teachers!) and as soon as I got rid of one another one would emerge and they would sometimes grow huge and be very uncomfortable. I had tried everything to treat them but nothing worked. They disappeared suddenly a couple of years ago too. I had felt all this was a good thing until I read about reproductive immunology!

Ari I'm sorry this is a sad time for you. Hugs.

lemonsherbet · 02/02/2012 11:05

Ari sorry you are having a difficult time. It is always difficult when you are near your due date but it must be worse being so close to your husbands birthday. Just wanted to say am thinking of you.

euro similar thing here, was only in my second pregnancy (which ended in a mmc) that I had a cold that I can remember, otherwise I am the same. I start to get a bit of a sore throat and then the next day it is gone.

battery congrats on the scan.

I will just wave to everyone else.

mercator · 02/02/2012 12:39

Hi everyone. Quick update from me re: scan. All well and measuring spot on. Next scan at 8.5 in 2 weeks. Fingers and toes crossed all will be well then!

Battery Congrats on scan that must have been a huge relief! Hopefully now you can start feeling a little excited!

Ari sorry to hear you've got a tough month ahead. Hopefully your hubbies 50th will destract a little. Thinking of you.

Free try and have a holiday and not work too hard!

Re: triggers, interestingly I started getting bad eczema post my lo which I had put down to the stress of going back to work and leaving her which I struggled with. Also suffer from Raynauds which I understand is related. Interestingly both of which seem much better with the drugs - whether aspirin combined with the steroids I don't know.

digitalgirl · 02/02/2012 13:34

mercator so pleased to hear good news from you! One step at a time...we'll be here to hold your hand for the next scan too.

ari sorry you're feeling low this month - these due dates and birthday milestones are horrible reminders of where we once thought we'd be. I remember getting a BFP last Feb. Then mc'ed in March Sad.

I'm another who conceived ds without any problem and then suffered rmc since. Mr S suggested the first pregnancy triggered my immune response which only affected subsequent pregnancies. Haven't been ill since DS was 6 months old, had my first cold in over 3 years this Christmas just gone. Poor DS and DH still haven't completely recovered from that, but I seem to be back to normal.

Had a promising email from an ex-boss who's moved on who says he should have some freelance work for me to do from home when I'm on ML - pays better and I get to BF the baby in between writing...so perhaps I won't have to go back to 4 days a week in the office as soon as I'd feared.

Stogan · 02/02/2012 13:40

YEY mercator fantastic news Grin x

Finding it hard here too ari I had my last MMC on 6th feb last year so gonna be a horrible weekend. Strange how even tho I'm so far along now I still can never ever forget those horrible times, doubt we ever will ! Still it will be a year on 26th feb since my first appt with mr s and can't believe how far I have come ! I will never ever be able to thank him enough ( going now as starting to sob and can't be an emotional wreck when I'm going for a pampering session Sad)

Pebbles73 · 02/02/2012 14:14

Thats really interesting re aquiring the killer cells. Must admit I never thought about how they got there.
I have always had hayfever/asthma and used to get lots of colds all the time. A couple of years ago I developed eczema (bad reaction to some skin products) and hardly ever have colds and even if I do they are pretty mild.

Sorry you are feeling low Ari, must be a horrible time when you get to what should have been your due date.

Great news about your scan Mercator. :)

Enjoy your pampering Stogan sounds like it is jsut what you need.

snoopygirl · 02/02/2012 14:40

Hey battery & Mercator Fantastic scan news for you both and bloody nervewracking!...big exhale aaahhh. battgreat your booked in for so many scans/reassurance.

ari sorry your feeling down and af coming. Have you actually got past just spotting yet? It's crap we all understand. Me too would have had a 3 month old on my lap now as was also pregnant this time last yr and m/c at 10 weeks in March. What can we do apart from keep slogging on till we can't take it anymore?

stogan you are our light at the end of the tunnel as it were!! Bet you wanna kiss Dr S (well on the cheek maybe)!!

There is a new me in town Grin....... I am having a more relaxed approach (yeah right) to things and trying not to obsess. Only done one positive ov stick so swi every other day from two days ago. Not interested in smiling faces or exact dates of ov hence not purchased any digi sticks and chucking more money down drain. Will start taking pred tomorrow probably. At end of day what does one day really matter here of there as we keep saying it's NOT AN EXACT SCIENCE! Plus got pred in system. So will test in 14 days time. If by some miracle I did get a positive then will wait another couple of days anyway like PQ did. Obv don't want to leave any possible Intralipids too long but well you know what I mean.

Also who was asking about exercise? I think if it's exercise that you do regularly then I have been told by Dr before to carry on. As long as it's not too strenuous. And (again in line with my more relaxed approach) as been said by ladies on here with a child already - look at all the times we've done strenuous things, stuffed our faces full of cheese/wine tuna all things your not meant to and had a healthly pregnancy no probs. I do wonder sometimes if there is a study out there showing how much stress and Anxiousness can hinder getting a bfp. They do talk so much about it. So.....I'm just chillin..........for now.....Smile..

snoopygirl · 02/02/2012 14:44

Sorry pebbs it was you on the other side Smile talking about exercise.

Pebbles73 · 02/02/2012 18:08

Don't worry Snoopy I just posted on the other side asking if you decided to go for it this month but evidently you did. Grin

picolina123 · 03/02/2012 07:10

ari & stogan im sorry your both feeling so low, its like a rollercoaster , the pamper session is a great idea. in fact i was just thinking on one of the meetups that all of you organise why dont we do that? might be fun to have a chat and facials etc, esp if we can all do it together??

battery & Mercator great news re scans, gives us all hope.
someone finally called me from clinic after i sent an email to say i have been leaving messages for 3 weeks. she gave me a mobile if i have probs in future. i asked about intralipids again and she said mr s used to put everyone on v high nkc on that but he stopped doing that recently and in a case by case basis, which is fine i dont really want to go any anymore stuff! im also meeting her next week after my scan to get my weening off prescription ( i suppose that would be if its good OR bad news- cross everything its good !!!!) if everything is ok im supposed to go to clinic at 11 weeks for another check up ? anyone know what they do there?

re triggers- i dont ever remember having eczema and only remember being sick with the flu bad a few years ago , but that was just after my brother died and i felt crap for 6 mths not sleeping etc , my hubby gave me the flu and he still had it much worse than me , thats usually how its worked now that i think about it, i get it mild and people around me get it really bad. my brothers and sister all have ashma but ive always get hayfever and problems with my ears , when i was a kid i couldnt eat sea food, used to get hives but i grew out of that and only get it now if its not fresh.

Arianrhod · 03/02/2012 09:44

Morning all .. merc great news about the scan!!

Well AF hit in full force late last night (of course now I'm not sure what counts as CD1 - today? yesterday?), could whomever updates the list next please put me in the 'waiting to ovulate' section??

Hope you're all wrapped up warmly this chilly morning ... oh, except free of course who is no doubt sunning herself wonderfully :)

Havingkittens · 03/02/2012 12:59

Great news on the scans Battery and Mercator.

Sorry to hear Ari and Stogan having sad times Sad. My strategy is not to make a mental note of dates in particular. I stopped considering the idea of due dates after about my 3rd pregnancy so I don' t have a significant day to be upset about. It helps that I have a terrible memory too I guess Wink.

I suppose my 2 pregnancies that I terminated at 12 weeks may have been the trigger for my NK Cells. I noticed that when my OH gets ill, despite breathing into my face night after night, I never seemed to catch what he had and if I did it was usually pretty mild. The bug I had last year, that prevented me going to France, was the first proper bug I've had in years and that was just as I was starting my 2 month break after 6 months on pred. Actually, thinking about it, I used to get a sort of vertigo/labrynthitis type thing every winter for about 10 years and then suddenly stopped getting it. I think probably around my 3rd pregnancy.

So, yesterday I took the rush hour tube with a pot of freshly delivered swimmers to TMC in my handbag. Good job I didn't get mugged! Bloody OH made me late by refusing to get up as early as I wanted him to. He's a bugger for leaving everything to the last minute. So annoying! I was 15 mins late for the appointment. Luckily it wasn't a problem but I was going to drop it off on the way to another hospital appointment at UCH and thought I was cutting it fine anyway. Pretty stressful. What is it with these men? I run around to all of these bloody appointments, never late, put myself through pain and feeling like crap for this cause and he can't even get it together to get out of bed for an early morning 'shuffle' which he doesn't even have to go and drop off himself. . My following appointment was with an orthopedic surgeon to discuss and check out problems I've been having with my foot 3 years after bunion surgery. He looked at my x-ray and told me the best thing to get rid of the pain I'm suffering would be to have further surgery. Great! Another thing to add to my list of things I have to put on hold for after TTC. So many things have been in limbo for the last 5 years, it's ridiculous.

Digi, sorry to hear things are looking precarious with DH's job. I was about to ask if you would be able to freelance a bit rather than going back full time, but you've answered my question. I always thought that was one good thing about my job. That if I had a baby I could still go and do a day or two here and there and earn a chunk of money so would be able to ease myself back into work sooner than if I had a 'proper' job. Also my OH is freelance too so the idea was that whoever got offered the most amount of money for going to work would take the job and the other would do the childcare.

Sooo jealous of Free. I'm off on holiday for 6 days to Istanbul in a couple of weeks and the forecast is looking decidedly chilly. Frustratingly this is the last opportunity we have to go away, probably until September.

freelancegirl · 03/02/2012 14:27

HI all! I am indeed enjoying the holiday so far! I?ve been lurking a bit but finding it hard to write as I didn?t want to just ignore everyone?s posts, but the more I don?t write the more I miss and the worse I think I will feel about missing peoples posts, so I just thought I would say a quick hello!

Back in the hotel lobby for the wireless connection to write an article. 9am here. Am having a nightmare chasing the press office of Locog, they are really crap. The whole thing about press offices is that they are meant to act quickly for the press! I?ve been chasing quotes from them since Monday. Grrr.

Sorry for pending due dates but pleased for good scan news! It?s up and down on this thread isn?t it, but the good thing is that more and more there is, well, good news and good outcomes for some of us with high NK cells means the more the treatment is working so hopefully the more possibilities of good outcomes for the rest.

Re allergies etc, I had childhood eczema that I grew out of, but occasionally as an adult had a tiny little bit. Pretended to have hay fever just for a while so I could use Pebbles eye drops at school (felt they were cool and we DID like to do everything alike) but didn?t really. However a few years ago (maybe around 4-5) started to develop hay fever in spring time. Just realised haven?t had it for a couple of years though! Two years ago developed adult asthma after a terrible cough and although needed an inhaler for around a year regularly, haven?t really had a cough or cold since. Thyroid problem developed when I was 21 not long after my first pregnancy, which was a termination. In retrospect however we feel this can be counted as a mmc too as the hospital had to do test on ?the products? afterwards as they said what had been retrieved was very small. I had a mmc the following year (was pretty careless as a young adult I guess) aged 20. Didn?t even know I was pregnant. Whether the first pregnancy kicked off the NK cells I will never know, or whether that was indeed a mmc too I will never know.

In my first pregnancy of 2011 (three in total, 2 mcs that year) I developed that bad allergy to my wedding ring. Had echoes of that this time too but not nearly as bad.

I got the Doppler out yesterday, just to check, and all is still beating. Not sure when my next appointment with Mr S is as it will be at the hospital. I have a booking in appt at Epsom General the week after I get back.

In the meantime am taking it really, really easy. Eating healthily, not getting too much sun (I feel a bit sick and tired in the daytimes still) and getting lots of sleep. Haven?t left the resort yet! Very unusual for us as our holidays are usually off exploring Asia etc as well as chilling on the beach. But this one is different.

Am wondering why am still sick and tired quite a bit at over 15 weeks? Thinking maybe it is as the Pred must have now left my system? It?s been 2 and a half weeks since I stopped. Due to stop the Cyclogest next Tuesday and can?t wait.

You know, when I got pregnant I wrote these dates down in my calendar on the laptop but they all had brackets after them and said ?(Would be 16 weeks, stop Cyclogest)? so if I had to go and delete them after a mc I would know they were only ?pencilled in?. I am sure you can all relate to that.

Istanbul Kittens? How lovely!! It?s such a gorgeous, exciting place. And it has got to be warmer than the UK anyhow. I?ve been chuckling away at your sperm stories. Glad you didn?t get mugged on the tube!

Digi, good news about the freelance work. I was hoping something like that would turn up for you.

Pico, check ups at the clinic are just about scans and making sure it is all growing well. Another opportunity to have a little look in there!

Re vitamins etc Iggi and others, I am not sure what to do about mine. I am still taking the Pregnacare, Omega 3, Vit D and Selenium (the latter was my own addition) and wondering whether I should carry on or not. Mr S says to stop at 12 weeks as you say. But I don?t think there is any harm in carrying on. Pregnancare says it can be used all the way through. The Selenium I have no idea about. It is meant to help with thyroid antibodies. Dr Google can?t tell me when to stop. I would like to stop all of them, it would be nice if I get to 20 weeks to just take minimal tablets (5 x thyroxine as usual and maybe the Hydroxy, given that we are not yet sure when I should stop it) but we will see. Dr Google does say that Selenium supplement.

Right, quick bit on the article and then beach is calling xx

Dunnitt · 03/02/2012 16:03

Hi everyone. Interesting chat about NK cells. When mine came back high (average is 12% count and mine was 24.7%) my husband said, well that expains why you are never ill! Hadn't thought about it until then, but I can go years without being off sick for work.

I had a scan this morning and all as should be for 6+1 (Mercator we may be at a similar stage) . It was such an emotional experience as I started bleeding this morning (mix of brown/red, sorry TMI) so was sure it would be bad news. I was in tears lieing on the bed waiting for the worst. So when he said all was OK I was completely blown away. He couldn't see any signs of bleeding anywhere so its a bit strange as I have had more this afternoon. I really need it to stop now otherwise I will drive myself insane!

Anyone else having progesterone injections in the buttocks? I am in agony with them. Shuffling around like an old women.

Pebbles73 · 03/02/2012 18:11

I was like you Kittens and din't look into or note down my due date, I also have a terrible memory!! :)

Free wish I was there with you is soo cold today! Off skiing to Italy in four wks but now thinking somewhere hot would be nice........
I remember your 'hayfever' very well, obviously I knew you didn't have it and used to get cheesed off with you pretending. Lol Grin. You must be fed up feeling sick by now. I think that some people can still feel sick in normal pregnancies at this stage (if you know what I mean) so try not to worry.

Was having a down day yesterday and worrying if this super ov thing will work or if will still be ttc in another couple of years!! Sad

suemays · 03/02/2012 20:58

pebbles I have down days like you too. Everyone I know seems to be having babies at the mo - 3 due this weekend and then about another 7 that are pregnant. When will it ever happen for us? I can't believe that I had my 1st miscarriage almost 2 years ago - I just hope I am not in the same situation in another 2 years time. I think that once you have had 2x6 months on the superov programme that they take you off of it and try IVF. Louise told me that most women fall in months 4-6 as it takes a while for the drugs to work. That means we should all have our BFPs by the summer!

OP posts:
eurochick · 03/02/2012 21:27

That's annoying sue. I think I will only be giving it 3 or 4 months before moving to IVF.

snoopygirl · 03/02/2012 21:44

Yes on the getting down front. I am never hardly like that and yet now getting really depressive days and not even started on pred yet?? Scares me don't like feeling like that.

Oh free hope you not doing too much work and your suitably relaxing on beach....sunning yourself... with a good book, nice food, and a cocoon house waiter for your viewing pleasure!! aaahhhh happy days.

snoopygirl · 03/02/2012 21:45

Sorry dunnit hope all ok and glad scan was good - keep busy if you can x

Pebbles73 · 03/02/2012 22:20

I had my first one two years ago in January, well it was chemical so not as bad physically as m/c but mentally I was devastated. I feel the same Sue never thought would still be ttc two years later and can't bear the thought of still trying in another two years!!
There is a girl at work who is around 6mths pregnant, she came off the pill and got pregnant the first month. She is very sweet and nothing personal against her but I avoid her as much as poss as don't want to talk about babies!!
Roll on the summer!!! :)

duggs1976 · 04/02/2012 08:01

Hey ladies just posted on the super ov thread. Had IUI yesterday at NLC so will see in 2 weeks time if it worked Grin waves to everyone.

snoopygirl · 04/02/2012 08:50

duggs just read your thread on other side, great news about swimmers! Just got OH on vits and may try the maca stuff. Tons of luck and hopefully we'll be celebrating on 19th. x

Stogan · 04/02/2012 11:42

digitalgirl · 04/02/2012 12:48

Happy Saturday ladies. Am STILL in my dressing gown and have dispatched DH and DS to the shops to get the food shopping in. So thought I'd make the most of the peace and update the list.

Seems Buster has snuck in with a stealth BFP there! Congratulations...I'm sorry if I missed it earlier, but I don't remember you announcing it! So have put you on the first trimester list. Glad scan went well - sorry that you've had some bleeding though, can't help with the worry. Hope it's tailed off for now.

picolina and hopeful you need to add your dates in as we have no idea how far along you are - you must both be about 8 weeks now?

mercator have guessed your dates based on your last post about getting scanned at 8+5 so feel free to amend.

dunnit have also added you to the first trimester list - feel free to add more details.

euro fingers crossed for this week.

duggs same to you...fingers crossed for the IUI.

comedy if you're lurking out there, congratulations on hitting 24 weeks! It was a huge milestone for me and I definitely seemed to relax a bit more afterwards.

coconut looking forward to moving you up on Monday!

ari sorry AF came after dragging her heels with the whole spotting thing. Fingers crossed this is a better cycle.
