Just wrote a blardy long message before getting the 'thread full' message so here we go.................

X-posts again!
Yay for holiday SWI Generic You go girl!

And Far I can sense your chilled out, laid back nonchalance from here Grin

Imps7 · 10/02/2012 13:44

Far, you nonchalant thing you - in fact, you're so nonchalant that when you get your BFP this month you can quite legitimately say to people "And we weren't even trying..." :)

I'm on CD2 Generic so not a hugely exciting sympsum for me! Maybe's is waaaaay better though...I have high hopes for that next BFP in a couple of days. Hurrah that you can start the rat smacketing again - you go girlfriend!

Bean, grit your teeth and sort them out. It's mostly likely an error but one which should not be made. Don't let NHS fails defeat you.

PopcornMouse · 10/02/2012 13:47

:o :o "And we weren't even trying..." :o

farfallarocks · 10/02/2012 14:08

Oh I would soooooo lurve to say that one day. 'Yeah it just happened, fertile myrtle me'

Do you think there is some truth to the synching thing then? We have a friend living with us at the moment and our cycles synched up within 2 months, weird!

OP posts:
SweetieDoesIt · 10/02/2012 14:13

Olives I had the same thought about cyber cycles all lining up. It is a bit odd though how we have got a lot of us in the same phase. Might be like when planets line up once in millions of year or what ever ok I will shut up and leave it to one of the proper scientists

far you may need tips from Mr Whims he is a spy you know in covert techniques, I am sure he knows all about these sort of things Wink

Maybe my fingers are so crossed for your confirmation of what we already know in a few days. Tears at a exercise DVD, updiffed for sure.

I agree "we weren't even trying" is like fingers down a black board now imo Angry

I heard a tale of NHS at its best yesterday. My nails lady DD, who is only 12, found a lump on her lady bits. She rushed her to GP, GP examined young child. Sent her home with antibiotics etc. They were having tea that evening, knock on door, GP stood there - got her an emergency appointment with pediatric gyni at the hospital that evening. They kept DD in and operated next morning. It is a bit of longer tale than that, but nail lady very very relieved etc. Can not really ask for more than that can you.

farfallarocks · 10/02/2012 14:43

Oh I definitely need a bit of Mr Whim techniques! Had no idea he was a spy, that is just, well, cool.

Your poor nail lady DD but what a fab doctor! How she is ok.

I don;t get the accident thing, you are surely either using a johnny or you are not, if you are not you are not not trying. Simples :)

OP posts:
Imps7 · 10/02/2012 15:51

Agreed Far! "We want a baby and we therefore we are going to have unprotected sex" = trying to conceive, goddammit!!

Stasi · 10/02/2012 16:03

My sister blamed a 'contraception failure', though I do wonder if it was just a failure to put one on...

Kind of extreme 'bad' luck when you think about how bloody hard we're trying. Can you imagine just happening to have sex on the right day of the month like that? Sigh, if only.

I can't really imagine my life now if we'd have just got pg on the first cycle. We'd have a 9 month old baby for one! But I'd never have found mumsnet ttc, or any of you lovely ladies, and I wouldn't have learnt so much about how our bits work! Is ignorance truly bliss? I think it might be

CupcakesAndCocktails · 10/02/2012 16:03

Hello smacketeers!

Sorry that AF has shown up for Beedle, Sweetie and Stasi however Far is right Christmas babies are the best.

Glad it will work out for your HSG Stasi

That's so weird about yours being cancelled Bean do you think you would be able to face going to the GP if your DP went with you for moral support?

OMG Pop so excited that you are now an official preggo Grin

Hi Ninja can't believe you are 20 weeks already Smile

Cakes hope the scan went well

TMI alert-I've been checking my CM as I'm on ovulation watch and had what looked like old blood (brownish) quite a bit when I wiped. The only other time ive had any spotting apart from AF was last month on day 10 and 12 I had pink CM which I assumed to be ovulation related even though it was too early. I'm day 13 today btw. Any thoughts?

PopcornMouse · 10/02/2012 16:19

I think "conception failure" is often "user failure" ? :o

Just booked somewhere super swanky for a meal for my birthday next month, since I can't drink and whatnot I thought I'd push the boat out foodwise Blush

That's a lovely story sweetie I'm glad she got it all sorted out and is now a-ok! :)

I'm not really sure cupcakes - could be ov, or could it be overzealous shagging? :o Blush

cakes82 · 10/02/2012 16:46

Had my scan both internal and external. I'm not far enough along to tell anything more than I am pg, so got to go back again on 21st. I would say i'm 6wks today, scan was apparently suggesting i'm only 5+4. They did spot a cyst on my left ovary but they aren't sure if that is from bean or linked to the PCOS diagnosis I may have got had I not had my BFP. They seemed a little confused why my GP had sent me but given she had they needed to look after me.

PopcornMouse · 10/02/2012 16:55

They're only 3 days out then, cakes which is pretty negligible? The 21st isn't too long away. How are you feeling about it, reassured or still worried?

beangrower · 10/02/2012 17:32

Hmm contraception failure. I had a first boyfriend at 18 (still a mate actually) and we used condoms shagged like goaty-rabbits too. Kept splitting condoms. Kept going to GP. Had morning-after pill twice. But was still pg and had to have a termination as was going to uni' (among other reasons). But heck yes I want to thump the twats who say stuff like "we weren't even trying" or in one friend's case "I blame it on the curry we had that night...". Are you not a GROWN UP either then?!

First boyfriend - now a father of three. As is the uni boyfriend (my Mr Big, almost) who followed. I have to unclench my teeth when I think about it.

Still had a lovely cuddle today with a baby - about 10wks old. She had the most hilarious jowls and grin. And a good burp...

Pops and Cakes - all good. Hurray. Enjoy your birthday Pops - is it the big 3-Oh?

You have all brooked me good an' proper and I have a GP app with walnut-head but not til 20th. HsG wasn't until 2 April so will now be presumably even later... That's why I'm tempted just to go private. Hycosy less invasive too...

Maybe the suspense is killing us.

PopcornMouse · 10/02/2012 17:39

Not yet bean I'll be 28 Blush

We had a batch that kept doing that, back when we were teens (from the teen fertility/contraception/family planning/goodness-knows-what-they-called-it clinic, ironically - they kept bloody tearing in two and I had to fish half out Confused Blush

Yay for newborn cuddles :)

GreenOlives · 10/02/2012 18:57

Sweetie I love the good NHS story! Despite it's many failings I really believe in the NHS and I hope this current government doesn't ruin it altogether with their latest reforms. Every Sunday when I watch Call the Midwife I find it fascinating to see how the National Health Service revolutionized health care at that time but equally how basic everything was then IYSWIM. Definitely no fertilty testing in the 1950s that's for sure! Still everyone was more fertile then anyway I think! Anyhow, I'm really rambling now so I'll shut up! Good luck with walnut-head Bean!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/02/2012 19:43

Evenin' all!!

Srry for the lack of communications, have had a lovely afternoon with DH, He felt very sorry for me. He came home from his back physio appointment to find me in hysterics and floods of tears because I couldn't find my cheque book. Yes, that's right, my cheque book. I was beside myself. He is convinced im preggo Wink

you are not giving up my lovely. Thats simply not cricket. Contraception does fail, fact, and I am so sorry it happened to you too Bean. Though I do half suspect that a few adults, as Stasi correctly pointed out, fail to use it in the first place Wink

Cakes superb news. Just a little early, 'tis all. I hear stories all the time of people gaining on their first scan dates.

Cup I would take that as an ov bleed, good news!

Love to everyone else, I am rushing off for dinner (M&S dine in Valentine's special, nom> Catch up laters

NinjaChipmunk · 10/02/2012 19:49

bean wtf is your gp practice up to? I'm sorry to hear it got cancelled, can you call them and find out why? And yes, I would demand to be referred again. Its like they expect you to jump through hoops for something they are not even doing themselves. Good luck with it!

cakes they altered my dates by 2 days at the 12 week scan so its not impossible. Good luck for your next one. And pop great news on your gp appt too.

Hi cupcakes how are you?

Just waiting for dp to get home with a big fat curry...... nom nom

whimsicalname · 10/02/2012 20:44

Just nipping in to say I love the NHS. They saved my husband's life. We definitely got our money's worth when he was ill!

And a friend of mine got pg having had an accident with a condom, and then taking the morning after pill. I'm the godmother. Christening tomorrow. And they're both doctors.

Anyway, happy Friday to you all. There's a slight possibility I've been to the pub, so I won't hang about.

Off to London for a few days. Hope to see lots of BFPs on my return.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/02/2012 09:44

Morning all!!

Have a lovely christening Whim hope you had fun at the pub. I too really appreciate the NHS Smile

Ninja hope the curry was good, you need a bit of spice in this weather Grin

How are the preggos feeling this morning?

Bit of pink CM today,m but temps still high. Boobs are the most painful I have ever known them, which I suppose means the old progesterone is good? Though I am fully expecting AF to descend sometime soon.

What is everyone up to on this chilly, chilly day?

beangrower · 11/02/2012 11:17

I love the NHS, in principle. And they also saved my life when I had my spleen out at the age of 12. But I'm afraid it is the system in this instance that is letting me down, rather than my GPs (who have also not been brilliant). My DP thinks they made a standard booking (meeting target, box ticked) and it is standard to cancel it because they are so busy. I was referred to a big London hospital who do a lot of IVF. But seeing as we don't intend to go for IVF there's not much point. I will ask for an app at my local hospital (also q big and in London, but I don't think they do IVF). I assume they will do an HsG? I don't really think I need it, but it's better to have checked out all possible obstacles.

Green - found this aspect of Call the midwife interesting too, though the point for me has been how women were struggling to be less fertile IYKWIM, given that they started at 18ish and had years of avoiding pg... How the world has changed. And how lucky we are to have a choice but sad for us that it's turned on us a bit.

Cakes - my first scan date brought due date forward by 6 days! So if we were to go by that due date my DS was overdue by 14 days! If we go by the dates of last period etc his birth date makes a bit more sense.

Thanks for the shoulder-grabbing Maybe - v sweet of you. I am seriously close to having had enough of TTC, except DP has really only just got on side and is having his acu' so I feel I have to consider this the beginning of TTC. Lawks-a-limey. I can't believe I'm saying that.

Did you find the chequebook? Your DH sounds like a doll (as they say somewhere in America I believe).

And I think you and I are synched. I'm in a foul mood and feel like AF has been coming throughout 2ww, but cramping definitely more noticeable last few days. Norks no longer sore so progesterone must have dropped. However, we must consider this the start of our pgs, eh?

Enjoy London and christening Whims - I'll prob' bump into you. Grin

Working on book this weekend. Boo. DS and DP gone off to have fun, feel a bit jealous but then I get DS to myself every day so what am on about?!

xxx

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/02/2012 12:38

I will grab your shoulders any time they need it Bean Grin I now can barely touch my boobs. Had to force them into my bra earlier. Poor DH is a bit shocked I think, as I never get PMT. Bless him, he took me for wine. You're right, he is a doll Grin I did indeed find me cheque book!

I know what you mean about starting TTC all over again. I feel like it is only the last few months that my body is doing what it is supposed to do, and that DH is properly on side now, so I see this year as the 'proper' start IFKWIM. We really are synched Wink

Hope he book goes ok. Remember, plenty of tea, chocolate, warm socks and a blanket. Sorted!x

SweetieDoesIt · 11/02/2012 14:09

Afternoon Brookers
Maybe all sounding very positive preggers for you. Sore boobs, check, unreasonably emotional, check, high temps, check. So when are you PIAR my dear? Just a polite enquiry you understand Wink

bean hope your book is coming along well and you get to do some fun stuff this afternoon too.

Another of DH friends have announced they are expecting DC, although this is their first and I suspect they have had issues TTC. DH is back wanting us to seek a referral, so I think I will book another GP appointment to ask that we get referred. It could be a long waiting list so at least we are starting the process I suppose, we could get our BFP while waiting anyways fx.

GenericDietCola · 11/02/2012 14:36

Imps sorry I asked for a sympsum when you had got AF. Good that you are being so positive about it all and surely it can't be too long now until you start your new job?

Maybe all signs point to preggo!

Bean I hope you get a surprise BFP this month too - you surely deserve it after all the recent heartache.

Sweetie won't do any harm to get in the system but of course you will get your BFP in the meantime!

Whim enjoy that London.

Cakes your scan all sounds promising to me - they often move your dates around a bit when they scan you. Brooking no argument for a good scan in a couple of weeks.

Far hurrah re 'we weren't even trying'! Although I agree that you are either using contraception or not. I take the point that accidents happen but I always feel a bit sorry for the child when they are termed an 'accident'.

Quiet weekend here before hols on Monday. I've had a cold/sore throat/cough for over a week now so I'm trying to rest a bit! Hope it goes soon as DH and I are sleeping separately because I keep tossing and turning/coughing etc - not very romantic and my chance of SWI are slim unless the snot goes!

cakes82 · 11/02/2012 16:39

This scanning thing sounds a bit hit and miss then, dunno how they can use it as official dating method given the peculiarities.
Feeling a little bit more pg today than I have been. Slight feeling sick and needing toilet a lot. I don't really feel tired well until head hits pillow anyway but I am yawning a lot.

Def sounding interesting Maybe

Hope everyone having a good weekend! :o

beangrower · 11/02/2012 19:46

ooo Maybe - it all sounds incredibly promising! Except this is the beginning of a lot of boob trouble (bouble), you do realise. You'll be stuffing cabbage leaves down there when the baby comes along, kid you not! We are all on tentahooks for your ramekin triumph. Yes - let's decide that 2012 is the year for conceiving, why not.

Sweetie - thanks! I did get out with boy and dog and we then scoffed sweet potato fries and DS got a free balloon. Not bad after a day's work. How was your day? I really agree with your DH that you should get that referral. Sorry, re' another pg announcement - always tough biting your lip, but hopefully it's a good sign that yours is on its way.

Generic - you are v kind to say that. My heartache is relative, as is my good fortune - and I just have to be more patient. May we all be in the BFP club together and soon.

Big wave to all other Brookers - hopefully you are all having such a great w'e that you haven't got time for MN. Smile
