In my book you are being v sensible Maybe. Dentist avoided giving me an x-ray when she heard I was TTC. Mind you HsG is a bit odd given that it involves x-ray technology...

PopcornMouse · 09/02/2012 14:25

Sorry you're feeling so crappy bean :(
Time for an indulgent Wine bath and tv night maybe?

maybe I don't know anything about radioactive stuff... but I would be wary. That said, the point of a course is that you learn not to make yourself glow in the dark? When I went to the GP about ttc stuff she did ask if I worked with "hazardous materials" etc; is it worth asking the GP what they would consider ttc no-no's?

beangrower · 09/02/2012 14:33

I am far too virtuous to drink Pop Grin - have had the sum total of 1GnT since Christmas and that was because it was my Mum's 70th and she likes everyone to raise a glass. Actually - I'm not fibbing, I felt rotten the next day - proper hangover.

I'll be ok. I just wish DS would stay in bed til 6.30. Was about 5am this morning and I went to see what was up and... nothing - he was warm and snug and just wanted some attention. I'm afraid we will have to reinstate the rule about no attention until 6.30, which sometimes means an hour or so of whingeing... Gah.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/02/2012 14:36

Yeah, I could do that Pop I think the point is that if I get the licence, and have to do the radioactivity, then I will be subjected to low-level radiocactivity, purely from handling it. I remember I had to have a bone scan, and was injected with a tiny amount of radiation. I wasn't allowed to go near any pregnant ladies or small children, so am guessingthe GP would say a no to this.

If when i fall pregnant, I think I will have to cut back on some of the drugs and chemicals I handle, as they are hugely carcinogenic/toxic/plain nasty

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/02/2012 14:37

Bean you poor thing, 5am is far too early, especially in the winter Sad

beangrower · 09/02/2012 14:43

Definately Maybe - you have to take v good care of yourself and eliminate anything that might jeopardise your pg.

5am is early isn't it? But I've been remembering the first 8 mths of DS's life recently... It was constant up and down, lack of sleep - at one point he was b-f'ing at least once an hour through the night. DP was v good at taking over when I got totally desperate. It might be better not to have to do that again! Or at least if we remain a 1DC family this will be one of the benefits. Be prepared to find powers and resources you never knew you had when your LO comes along. It does make you feel proud though. Smile

Stasi · 09/02/2012 14:46

Quick message for Bean - my sister had this same trouble with her DS (just turned 3). Except he's now trained to the alarm clock. If he comes into the bedroom before 'the beeps', he knows he gets sent back to bed. He's now very well behaved about it, and will take himself back to his room to play with the cats/toys until the 'beeps'. My sister is an angel, and hasn't even made the alarm clock later - it's still 6:30 am at the weekends. Just a thought, as your DS probably can't tell what time it is when he wakes up. :)

beangrower · 09/02/2012 14:54

Hi thanks Stasi - we're already getting one of these for his birthday so he can start to understand the concept of time: clock

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/02/2012 14:57

Stasi how clever is that!

Bean that clock is adorable

I sometimes worry about the sleepless nights and long days Bean not so much for me, as I am not too bad when sleep deprived, but DH is a nightmare. He is the 'tiredest' person I have ever met Grin

PopcornMouse · 09/02/2012 15:01

My DH is the same maybe he was freaking out a bit this morning I think, as he realises how tired he is pre-DC!!

Love the clock bean and that's a great idea stasi

So many nasties in our environment bean that's not good! I didn't know you could have a low sperm count by not dtd enough, but I suppose it's 'use it or lose it' :)

I can't stop eating. I have gained 3lbs in two weeks. I'm sure it's the pregnant-woman-hormones but I really must get some fruit in to nom, instead of cake Shock

Stasi · 09/02/2012 15:04

The most adorable thing is laying in bed and hearing the alarm go off. There's an excited little voice "The BEEEPS" and the sound of elephants running down the corridor. Generally followed by "oomfph" as my sister gets jumped on.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/02/2012 15:09

Oh Stasi that has made me well up

Grin Pop I am sure they will cope (we will make them cope Grin ) You are allowed to gain weight, you are preggers. Plus there's probably as bit of that water retention going on.

I think I would kill for a bit of cake right now...

Imps7 · 09/02/2012 15:15

My friend has that clock Bean (for her son, that is, not herself) and he loves it - apparently it's may a huge difference to his sleep and how he deals with waking up in the night (if there's still a moon on it he knows he needs to go back to sleep and that it is not the right time to wake mummy and daddy up!).

Oooh come on 5pm - I WANT TO GO HOME.

CupcakesAndCocktails · 09/02/2012 15:56

Cute clock Bean that's such a good idea. Now I need the child to go with it Grin

Maybe can you get out of the course? I think it is probably not a good idea. Im careful what I expose myself to at work where possible. It is difficult but I don't want to take any chances with ttc. Plus I've already been exposed to too much xrays, radiation and chemo etc as far as I'm concerned! I had a mum last week who didnt want to stay in for her babies xray (they need someone to hold them) as she was going to start trying for a baby. Normally I would just stay in but I was strong this time and said that I would like a child myself one day and I've been exposed to a lot more xrays than she has. She was not pleased at all!

Those statistics are scary Imps and Bean

Stasi your DN sounds so cute

Cake made, now just have to decorate it Grin

CupcakesAndCocktails · 09/02/2012 15:57

I apologise for the atrocious grammar in that post Blush

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/02/2012 16:04

Haha, not to worry cup (I can call you Cup can't I?!)

I will just say no if I am asked to do it. I just think it isn't worth it. Plus, once this year is done, I have no intention working in a lab again anyway, so won't be needing the license anyway Smile

What cake did you make?

Imps I want it to be home time too. I think I am going to leave in the next 15. I have done all my experiments, but my brain just isn't working today. And I am staaaaaarving. Properly hungry.

PopcornMouse · 09/02/2012 16:17

Good for you, cupcakes - I agree wholeheartedly that while one xray won't hurt, you don't want to be subjected to them daily! She's probably one of those irritating people that falls on cycle 1 anyway Wink

Aaaaalmost 5, Imps ! I didn't drink my becks last night, so it's Beck's O'clock at 5!

Maybe that's right, it's water, not cake Blush :o

whimsicalname · 09/02/2012 18:25

Stasi great work shouting at people on the bus. I love it when people do that.

Imps the Cotswolds are basically the eastern side of Gloucestershire, where all the people live who dress like Shoreditch people (barbour or quilted jackets, hunter wellies, yellow cords) but without being ironic. And good work on the Baileys. Can't stand the stuff myself, but I'm glad I'm not the only drinking brooker.

Maybe sorry you're still feeling under the weather. Agree about the stats, but I'm a quali girl really, so I'd have to interview all the spermies to see how they felt about it, rather than counting them.

Re the radioactivity, Mr Whim used to work for a nuclear company, and when they went near the reactors or in the buildings where they were or something (can you tell I don't listen to a word he says?) they had to wear special pants, and lady nuclear physicists of any age, whether pre or post or during child rearing age, weren't allowed in at all as the naughty rays aren't very good for lady parts. I'll get him to come and explain more fully if you like (although it will totally out him as a man! he has a lady name and is a regular on AIBU. Cheap thrills) So no, you're not being OTT. or even YANBU.

whimsicalname · 09/02/2012 18:34

Sorry, meant to say hello to everyone else too. Computer just had a bit of a moment, and now I need to rush off. Have a nice evening. Thursday is a wine night chez Whim.

cakes82 · 09/02/2012 22:13

Evening All
Just tried catching up after almost 29hrs at work and MN had a fit logged me out and lost what i'd typed :(

Can't remember most of what i'd written, other than i'm confused by the timing of your HSG Stasi I had to ring up to book appt on cd1 and then common date for HSG is cd10 onwards depending on your cycle length and af length. I was given impression they like you to have finished af before you go. One of threads on here someone said they had there HSG done around cd21 but had to take a pg first. I guess different places do it differently.

Hi Pop glad your feeling better. Hope appt tomorrow makes it feel all official :)

All well here, scan tomorrow afternoon. Still don't really feel pg so don't know whether to count that as a blessing or be concerned.

ScarlettInSpace · 09/02/2012 23:24

Hey peeps am sticking my nose in as am at hiding at silly awards night in toilets lol but just to say my consultant said quarter of fertility issues caused by bloke and another quarter caused by mix of 2... Don't know if that helps with earlier discussion?

Also I still have white lumpy euwstuff but no itchy smell so fucks knows.

Back to the vino lol see you tomoz xx

ScarlettInSpace · 10/02/2012 03:30

Ooh and I have to ring on cd1 for hsg, consultant man said is always done in first ten days of cycle so they don't disrupt possible PG...

Sorry am drunk and now going to bed. Clearly I have no regard for possible 2ww. Am bad potential mother and will go to Jeremy Kyle hell :(

Sounds like you had a good time last night scarlett, hope you don't feel too rough this morning.

CD1 here, I'm going to fill in the forms to refer us for tests, hopefully they'll show something really minor that can be easily fixed and I'll be pregnant straight away Smile
