No.

It's the ones who start screaming that 'the don't want to have a baby'. Too late poppet. Should have thought about that a bit earlier!

eurochick · 04/01/2012 19:22

I secretly like OBEM too. I used to be terrified of pregnancy and birth but I find reading about it (I sometimes lurk on 'childbirth' on there) and watching it normalises the whole thing.

I am in a mini-rage. I got home to a doormat bearing patriarchal bullshit (i.e. a card from my MiL addressed to Mr & Mrs [hisfirstname] [hislastname]). She knows full well that I haven't changed my surname and I certainly haven't adopted his bloody first name! She has been told before not to do this. It might seem extreme an extreme reaction, but things like this really bother me. It's like my identity now only exists for her as her bloody son's appendage. I like that after years of both being complete commitment phobes me and KFZK have made a public commitment to one another, but I hate the sociological bullshit that goes with marriage. Hate hate hate it.

Grin Grin at Bugs & Kat.....

I've never been on any other forums. Should I go & have a look?

I also quite like OBEM. Makes me laugh. SSG can't watch it though.

Bugs I know how you feel. I'm attempting to lose some weight by the end of Jan. I'm fucking starving!!!

Ooew. I can't watch anything birth-y. Or cosmetic surgery-y either for that matter. Always assumed I'd have a CS like me mum did (although it was emergency) and only recently started considering the possibility that I might have to.. or even start to want to.. give birth through me fanjo.

Also sympathy with the post-Xmas fatness. I am not yet back on the wagon since my sister's wedding, although I did have porridge for breakfast. It's too bloody cold for salad.

p.s. Euro I take it you've read the extensive threads on the name thing? I'm married but still Ms and as time goes on it seems harder rather than easier for people to accept.

eurochick · 04/01/2012 20:12

I have, blonde and note that many others get as cross as me about it!

InTheSunshine · 04/01/2012 20:20

I was really anti becoming Mrs SSG. I wanted to stay Ms Sunny. But then we had all sorts of horrid MiL issues just before the wedding and all of a sudden I wanted to be Mrs SSG and form a new nice SSG family. I shocked everyone!

FriendofDorothy · 04/01/2012 20:24

I couldn't bloody wait to get rid of my maiden name, it was a stupid Guernsey name that I had to spell every single time. Now I have a common surname and it is marvellous!

blonderthanred · 04/01/2012 20:33

Extraordinary that so many people refuse to call others by the name they ask to be known by.

eurochick · 04/01/2012 20:41

Indeed. For me it is partly a feminist issue, partly because my reputation at work is built on my name (and I knew I didn't want to do the work name/home name split as that just gets confusing and I like to keep my life uncomplicated) and partly for family/sentimental reasons (I am the last of my line as I am an only child and so is my father). As it turns out, it also makes things easier as KFZK's brother married a woman with the same first name as me so if I had changed my name we would have identical first names and surnames! There are a couple of people who persist in getting it wrong - my nan who is an old fashioned witch lady and the MiL.

I did take TBI's surname as I decided I would rather have the name of a man I have chosen than one who I barely know and have no relationship with. Actually most people I know were surprised as they know I am a feminist but I've explained my reasons a few times over the years... I kept Ms though but I try not to get too pissed off if people forget unless they are my mum or the bank who I keep telling

On the subject of feminism, I just started my first ever AIBU.

MadameBoolala · 04/01/2012 21:11

TURN IT OFF Bugger. NOW.

eurochick · 04/01/2012 21:13

Seconded, bugger. Unless you feel it would be therapeutic to have a good cry, please turn it off. I am not watching it yet. I'll watch it on iplayer later, so as not to scare KFZK.

Which fred, blonde?

It's about Stephen Hawking, apparently he thinks women are a mystery.

It annoyed me. I am a bit tired.

TBI does not want to watch OBEM. Phew.

MadameBoolala · 04/01/2012 21:38

Well, if you're going to press bruises then far be it from me to stop you.

I am watching OBEM. I still may apply for midwifery yet - but it's on hold for a wee while at the mo after a chat with the head of midwifery at a open day I went to.

MadameBoolala · 04/01/2012 21:45

Sorry - I just read that back and it sounded very matronly didn't it? Sorry Bugs.

LaLauraDePalmer · 05/01/2012 00:00

I missed OBEM, too busy watching Point Break on iplayer. Trés classy...

Northey · 05/01/2012 07:35

BFN.

Still no blood though, so will try again another day.

InTheSunshine · 05/01/2012 07:41

Sorry Northey.

Northey · 05/01/2012 07:48

I honestly didn't have my hopes up so am not disappointed. I managed to wee on the loo seat though, which was definitely regrettable.

CaveMum · 05/01/2012 07:53

Sorry North, still it ain't over till it's over [cliche]

Can I put in a request for a preemptive kippering please? I'm 7 or 8 dpo at most and last night lay in bed prodding my buzzams when the thought "ooo, are they bigger?!" popped into my head [sigh]
My boobs have never been an indicator of anything: they don't ache pre/during droid and they've never been particularly sensitive so I'm not relying on them as "a sign".

Plus, it might just have been the way I was laying in bed. Will have to ask HWHNN to inspect them when he gets home tomorrow.
