Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

Those rats are jolly well going to be smacked this cycle and AF shall have arrows, hatred and misery cast upon her! No argument shall be brooked on both points.

Rubbish thread title, apologies.

OP posts:
NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/01/2012 22:52

I have no idea Green about the asprin. Could you maybe ask the doc for some advice?

Made a yummy dish out of Yotam Ottolenghi's book. Baked eggs with peppers, spices and onions. I am a picture of health and virtue Grin

farfallarocks · 11/01/2012 08:01

Green My consultant is very anti aspirin before BFP as apparently it can hinder implantation. I took it this cycle anyway from ovulation, just as an experiment and my period was very odd and clotty, not a nice flow at all. I though aspirin was meant to have the opposite effect! I am sure it can;t really do any harm though but i know what you mean about taking proper drugs. As with everything, its not without side effects.

I am sooooo sore, I tried my first spinning class last night. Ouch!

PopcornMouse · 11/01/2012 09:36

That sounds really positive, stasi - I'm glad it's helping. :)

I'm glad you're feeling more positive, maybe - it sounds like a long time, but a year will whizz by!

Blimey whimsy that sounds a bit -> Shock I could just murder a lasagne, though!

Hi munx - sorry you're so exhausted! How are the OPKs now?

That's very brave far !! Is it quite full-on? I started to go swimming before Christmas but some shitty men laughed at me (I am a weak swimmer ? think I managed 15ish lengths) and now I don't want to go back Confused

Went to bed at 8.30 last night as I had this bloomin migraine ? just as well, really, as I slept really badly with it. Still here today, mostly feeling nauseaus, but my temperature has really, really spiked ? it's higher than it's ever been in the 5 months I've been temping. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/01/2012 09:59

Oh Pop you poor thing. I hope you feel better very soon and are taking it easy today. Don't let people in the gym/pool put you off exercising. Your temp really has spiked, do you think maybe you are coming down with something?

Far I love spinning, you get a proper adrenaline-inducing. I always get bad saddle sore though Blush

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/01/2012 12:13

CM ALERT: I had a bit of pink CM last night, and jave just had a bit more now after a poo Hmm

Am feeling a bit Sad that this cycle is a no go, despite symptoms.

Some slap me...

whimsicalname · 11/01/2012 12:33

Wet fish or back of hand?

Any chance it's an implantation bleed? Result of enthusiastic SWIing?

Beetroot?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/01/2012 12:40

Hmm, a wet fish I think Whim at least I can eat that afterwards...

Tachnically, yes, it could be implantation. If my cycles are right, then I am 10 DPO today. Not due on until next week though.

Definitely not the beetroot

ScrambledSmegs · 11/01/2012 12:57

Uh-oh, Popcorn you sound a bit ill Sad Hope you feel better soon.

for Maybe.

Very impressed with all you active types. Far a bit of gentle stretching should help, spinning is mental, I'm very impressed. I got back on my bike yesterday (literally) and it was great. Cycling is so much fun, even in central London.

Hope you're a bit less tired today Munx. I'm curious about the fact that you're exhausted and have been having constant positive OPK's. I know you've POAS and it's been negative but... sorry, waaaay too coincidental for my liking!

I've done my back in. Carried DD a bit funny this morning, and have been in agony ever since. Ibuprofen, heat pad - not working. Any ideas?

Imps7 · 11/01/2012 13:05

That, Maybe, is an Official Tachnical Implantation Bleed and that, my friend, is that. Very very exciting!!

Pop - seriously, what kind of twatspanner (love that term Grin) laughs at ladies in a swimming pool??? The kind of twatspanner who deserves to be ignored, that's what. Do not let them put you off - crack on with the swimming! When your migraine is cured, that is (which I hope is soon, if not already).

Stasi I think that talking to someone who's impartial and objective can be more therapeutic than you would ever give it credit for. Like this thread, par exemple - I was finding the trials and tribulations a bit much before I joined but now I can ramble on to you lot about it without you minding it's like a whole weight has been lifted. I hope that you can carry on with the sessions and find them helpful.

I had a night off the no booze last night as OH was away for the evening and I fancied curling up in my PJs with some recipe books and a few glasses of wine. I really enjoyed it - I don't miss drinking very much, and when I do treat myself I enjoy it so much more. A win-win situation really!

Imps7 · 11/01/2012 13:07

(Oh, am having the heaviest period ever - am convinced I had a near miss this cycle - even if I didn't, I've chosen to believe that I did as it makes me feel better than spermy and eggy have been able to meet, just didn't get past the first date)

Imps7 · 11/01/2012 13:16

(Oh, and when I say "heaviest period ever", I mean "heaviest period ever for me" - which isn't actually that heavy. My periods are always quite like. Arg, is this a problem do you think Confused? )

ScrambledSmegs · 11/01/2012 13:24

Sounds about right, Imps. Don't think it sounds like a problem - I had a horrific period several years ago, (heavy bleed, pain, fainting and passing clots, yuk) and it all went back to normal from the next one. Step away from Dr Google! That way madness lies...

I think I've had two misses so far - one with the 28 day cycle (far longer than normal), then one with the extra bad period. Dr Wonderful thought it was quite likely too. I guess my LP defect is stopping the beans getting comfy though Sad

Imps7 · 11/01/2012 13:29

For once Dr Google has reassured me - "I just finished my period. It was pretty light and barely three days. I know I had a thick lining because I had u/s done on day 12 and lining looked great. So I do not think that light periods mean thin lining." Good good!

What is Dr Wonderful suggesting you do about LP, Smegs?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/01/2012 13:44

Imps my peiods are also fairly light, though the one I had after a near miss was heavy and clotty too. I hate the word clot. Your evening sounded lovely too, am very jealous. I am not drinking in the week anymore, but will allow a few glasses at the weekend.

Thanks for that Smegs. I love whitebait. I also love turbot. Just so you know Grin

Glad you enjoyed being back on your bike Smegs I applaud you for cycling through central London. I nearly got run over by a lorry during my cycling proficiency at school, and have been terrified ever since of riding on roads. I did ride a bike down a volcano in Bali though, though was slightly terrified to begin with.

I want to go hoooome The boss is away, and no one is in. But the one thing I have to do which I could have had done by now, was relying on someone who doesn't some into work until lunch time Angry

Imps I have read that tachnical implantation bleeds are deffo more proper than technical ones Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 11/01/2012 13:45

Right now we're waiting to be referred to a fertility clinic, Imps. DH is going to do his SA after I've ov'd this month so hopefully we can crack on reasonably fast.

I'm also going to be put on thyroid medication, I think - T4's are high, according to last blood test. Dr who gave me the results (not Dr W) also said that there was a possibility that I wasn't ovulating at all with these results. FF seems to think I have been, but we shall see.

ScrambledSmegs · 11/01/2012 13:57

*after we think I've ov'd, that should read Sad

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/01/2012 14:07

Oh Smegs I am sure you are ov'ing if FF says you are. I thought that your temps were meant to be pretty reliable as far as determining ov? I am going to start again when this cycle ends, now I have my shiny new non-puppy eaten fanjometer!

GenericDietCola · 11/01/2012 14:10

Hello all, sorry not got time to talk to you properly, but here's my summary from the supplements thread:

Antenatal vitamins (probably don't need to be branded ones, but check that the cheaper ones contain the same ingredients and the same quantities as the branded ones)

The following if not contained in the antenatal vits:
Vit B complex for egg quality and if you have LP defect
Selenium
Vit D3 - possibly useful in cases of RMC
Magnesium - possibly useful in cases of RMC
Omega 3
High dose vit C prior to ovulation to increase progesterone

Will be along later to chat!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/01/2012 14:21

Thanks Generic! That's great. I take the vtr B complex and omega already, and my folic acid. I am also taking a multi-vit, so will have a check on the label tonight as to whether they have to other vitamins in them

beangrower · 11/01/2012 14:40

Hello all. Back with a quick query. Now I know I'm a bit of a paranoid missy, with this ongoing TTC uphill trek, but I had such sharp pains in the region of my right ovary/tube the night before last that it woke me up. Continued til about mid morning. It's a weird time of month to have such a thing - cd18 (I got a +OPK on cd12 so not to do with ov). Do you think I should be worried?

Have read through your posts - some tough times for some of you but yay for Imps taking the reins and good luck Scrambled with your referral.

Plus fingers crossed for Stasi - and waves and hugs to all other Brookers. xxx

Imps7 · 11/01/2012 14:45

Hmmm sounds like ovulation pain - are you still temping Bean? If so, did that show ovulation had already happened by CD18? The only reason I ask is that the one and only time I used OPKs, I got a positive and then ovulated 7 days later.

If you had definitely ovulated before then, then I'm not sure what it could be - has it come back since yesterday morning?

beangrower · 11/01/2012 15:10

Thanks Imps - haven't managed to temp after first cycle. Will start again with next one as I do wonder if I'm missing ov. But it seems weird to consistently get +opk on cd12 then to have delayed ov by 6 days (and to have consistent cycle length of 28-30 days). Still you're living evidence that opks aren't reliable!

Pain hasn't come back since intermittent sharp pains for about 8 hours until lunchtime y'day. Enough to make skin on back of my arms get goosepimples. Haven't had this before. Would have carried on with SWI (last attempt = cd15) but we had to hold off as DP just did SA this am. Am beginning to think the every 2-3 days throughout most of cycle trick might be more sensible.

Boo to your AF btw. I think it sounds like a near miss. That BFP is getting ever closer.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/01/2012 15:26

Ooh, Bean that sounds nasty. Glad to hear it has subsided now though. It sounds like ov pains, but I would keep an eye on it just in case.

I agree with the swi all throughout the month. That is our plan for next cycle, it seems to take the pressure off a little.

Stasi · 11/01/2012 15:28

Afternoon everyone. Been a bit distracted by work today (how dare they) so not been posting. I have been reading though. Big news is I guess still no AF, though another temp drop. Also we did DH's SA in the hope they'll have the results for the appointment tomorrow. I did POAS last night, which was an expected BFN. This morning was such a rush with the SA though that I didn't bother - not with the temp drop too.

Thank you everyone for comments on the counselling, I wouldn't have thought talking to someone would help, but it has been.

Maybe so glad you're feeling better about your PhD and future plans. I have decided if your pink CM is anything, then it's an implantation bleed!

Popcorn take care of yourself today, and for the next couple of days. Sounds like you might be coming down with something, but if you get the rest you need you might be able to fend it off.

Far, and others who know, what is spinning?

Smegs back pain is one of the worst things to deal with, I hope it goes away soon. I thought temps were fairly conclusive of ovulation too - though they have to stay raised and not be due to illness. Which is why CM is good to add in, as a back-up indicator.

Imps your evening sounds like some much needed relaxation. Sorry AF is being such a cow, I hope not too painful, even if it's heavy?

Bean could it have been wind or a stomach cramp? Trapped wind can be a very intense pain and last for a while. It may also explain the intermittent-ness of it, as the bowel can have contractions of a sort. When I get it the pain literally stops me in my tracks, but tends to last for only a few seconds before going away again - either for a couple of minutes, or hours, or altogether. I don't tend to feel bloated or uncomfortable with it either, so without the pain I'd not have said I had wind at all.
I have to admit I can't imagine ovulation pain ever being painful enough to cause you to wake up and take painkillers.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/01/2012 15:34

Thanks Stasi now you have said it's an IB, then it must be Grin

Spinning is an exercise class on a stationary bike. It lasts for an hour (normally) and you cycle to music, going up and down gears to simulate hills. And then sometimes you will do combinations of sitting, standing, sprinting, jogging etc. All in all, it is a giant sweat fest, but it's great Grin

I am keeping everything crossed for you appointment tomorrow, and also for the results of the SA. Sorry about the BFN. But this could have been because it wasn't FMU?
