I thought it took a while?

ImJustABloke but ... I thought getting pregnant took a while? We've only just started trying and she's pregnant after a week. This might sound ridiculous, because I should be glad that we're able to conceive, but I was really looking forward to being woken up at 4am because she was ovulating, or slipping home for a quicky in our lunch breaks. Not just because I wanted more sex (although, yeah to be fair, I did) but also because I don't feel like we've earnt it if that makes any sense?
Do I need help for feeling like this?

DD took 14 months.

DS? 1 night.

Just wander round bragging about your Super Testicles. Sure you'll feel better in no time. Grin

And there are schools of thought where you can have sex for reasons other than procreation. High days and holidays maybe?

Arf. Ah bless you. My dh has said similar in the past.

Count yourself lucky. We had over a year, with two miscarriages. I would have loved to get up the duff in one week. Trust me, it is not fun after a while. It is bloody stressful having sex to a schedule.

Also count yourself lucky you have been spared having to console her at the end of each month when she is gutted to get her period.

Some people eh, never happy!!!

Congratulations on the pregnancy and I hope it is a healthy and happy one :)

eurochick · 16/11/2011 10:57

Congratulations!

Have a look at the "How likely is it to get bfp in first ttc cycle?" for some alternative perspectives. Believe me the reality of repeated months trying followed by repeated disappointments is very much overrated.

Ariesgirl · 16/11/2011 11:59

I'mjustabloke, but I thought I'd have a bit of a not-very-stealth boast about my supercharged sperm and my uber-fertile partner.

Congratulations.

You may not find your ideal audience for this thread in Conception...

LoveInAColdClimate · 16/11/2011 12:07

Oh, but congratulations Grin.

Karbea · 16/11/2011 12:16

Umm.. If you only started a week ago, how can she know she is pregnant already?
It takes on average a week for the egg to attach itself, and then usually a few days after for you to get a BFP.

KatAndKit · 16/11/2011 12:18

Also on another thread you have posted on you mentioned your daughter. If this isn't a hypothetical daughter then one would expect you already knew a bit about conception.

Or perhaps you were a bit bored today and just fancied posting on a few threads for fun? Who knows?

Ariesgirl · 16/11/2011 12:19

Good point, Karbea! Inspired by a thread elsewhere, I find this poster literally unbelievable!

ImJustABloke · 16/11/2011 13:57

haha you guys should all be detectives :-)
1+1=3 anyone?

because she's pregnant obviously she couldn't have had children before, right?
and i couldn't possibly refer to my step-daughter as my daughter right?
and because we've only been trying a week, of course she isn't using these bloody expensive conception indicators weekly.

i think some of you need to reign in your imaginations a bit haha :-)

What are you talking about? I was with you for the first one but you lost me here "and because we've only been trying a week, of course she isn't using these bloody expensive conception indicators weekly".

If you've only been trying a week, it is highly unlikely that she would get a positive test already. You would have to have struck it luck on day one and had really quick implantation for her to be producing any pregnancy hormone after a week.

So this is another vote for skinny spotty little oik who can't get a girlfriend. Twat.

bless.

when we conceived (okay, it took a couple of months), DH walked around the house going "I'm a MAAAN" Grin

LoveInAColdClimate · 16/11/2011 14:19

I also have no idea how you could know within a week that you'd conceived... two week wait and all that. OP, this doesn't make sense?

...to a bunch of people who by the very fact that they are in Conception either aren't finding or previously haven't found things quite so effortless...

Ariesgirl · 16/11/2011 14:23

Hang on, you're not Alex Reid are you?

Ariesgirl · 16/11/2011 14:24

Trip trap and all that.

He's probably hung like a baby carrot.

LoveInAColdClimate · 16/11/2011 14:26

Do we think the OP has gone off to look into paternity tests?

Ariesgirl · 16/11/2011 14:29

He's a sixteen year old in a darkened bedroom who has to take...ahem... regular tissue breaks Grin

love I was about to suggest the same thing, I must admit

Especially as though conception indicator things are some of the least sensitive tests out there
