Time for a new thread as the other one is just about full.

Fingers crossed for lots of patiently-awaited BFPs on this one!

Oh my, a busy day at work for me and the thread has exploded!

Using the euroscale Grin I'm a yellow tampon regular kind of girl usually, with brown spotting ranging from 1-5 days before and 1-4 days after. I've barely needed tampons in recent months but weekly acu this month have pushed me into green tampax territory. I sometimes get horrible horrible cramping but rarely clots. My friends have got pregnant with all manners of periods and two dildoscans have shown my lining to be 'excellent' so who knows what's best?

Hello Fatima! nice to see you back with us.

lemon hugs to you. I will avoid the fb analysis though. I feel liked I am almost the last man standing with no baby or bump. 4 girls left to get upduffed, two of whom are trying and then it's just little old me in my close group, not sure a out wider fb aquaintences though. Where the hell are the 1 in 6 in my life!

Oh, I'm being called to eat tea. I'm so spoilt! Back later!

MrsHY1 · 16/11/2011 19:53

Hello ladies
Having crashed your previous thread to spread the joy of the infamous spunk fritatta, I then faded away into obscurity - sorry about that. I have been reading all the posts with avid interest however.
My period's on her bloody way, harrumph. And I'd convinced myself I was up the friggin duff this month because my spotting didn't start til 6dpo and was very pale and non-eventful until today (9 dpo). Plus my temp was as high as a kite until today, when it started slowly but surely making its way down. Arse cakes.
x

Karbea · 16/11/2011 19:53

Evening!

There is an age limit on donating egg isn't there? I think that is a really lovely thing to do.

FatimaLovesBread · 16/11/2011 20:02

Thanks Karbea
AFAIK you have to be 35 or under to egg share

Gin I'm in the North and the private clinic is in Manchester. There's plenty of places that offer it though. You can search for clinics offering egg share on the HFEA website

joycep · 16/11/2011 20:06

Fatima - that's great about the egg sharing. Isn't it amazing what can be done now. I will be so interested to hear how you get along.

Welcome cake. You've done well to stay on those buses for so long - I think I lasted a month as everyone seemed to move on pretty quickly, i found it all a bit depressing! How short is your LP?

mrsd/stasi - no nothing bad about me. My BiL does know everything but it has now been passed to his wife and her family. I am afraid that's it, MiL will never be spoken to again. She is pretty difficult. DH and I won't fall out with her and we don't want to as she will help us out if we come to ivf. It's terrible to think like that but we have to keep on side. It's such a shame to split the family like that. she has been so stupid writing such a vindictive email.

hello hello to everyone else. we'll be on to part 5 if this carries on like this!

seriouscaffeineaddict · 16/11/2011 20:19

Hello all, new here. I've just realised my doctor has booked my day 21 blood test for day 22. Does it make a difference? Should I change the appointment?

seriouscaffeineaddict · 16/11/2011 20:22

Ps, I know the caffeine thing doesn't help, but after several months of commuting without caffeine I had to give up the abstinence. So now it's just one americano per day.

Karbea · 16/11/2011 20:27

serious I don't follow any of the 'I shall not...' rules anymore, I short of figure if I do ever get pregnant I'll stop, but we could be trying for ages yet, and I only seem to like band foods!

Besides when I was little about 3-6 I only really at peanuts, not much else, I'd starve nowadays as children aren't allowed them!

Biscuitsandtea · 16/11/2011 20:27

Hi Caffiene (if I may call you that?).

I'm no expert, but I think the important thing about the day 21 test is actually that it is done 7 days after ovulation (I think that's right - if not I'm sure someone will be along to correct me!)

Or it might be 7 days before AF is due?

Sorry, this isn't helpful, but I can't remember it now Confused.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make was that it depends on how well you know your cycle, and how regular it is. Do you know when you ovulate normally, or what your LP is?

I'm sorry - that sounds way more confusing than I meant it to Blush.

Hopefully someone clever can unravel me Confused

Karbea · 16/11/2011 20:40

biscuits yes it's 7 days after ov.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/11/2011 20:56

Thank you Karbea

So then caffiene if I were you and you know when you ov I'd try to get it as close to that as poss.

I think they call it the day 21 test, but that would be based on a 'textbook' cycle of 28 days, ovulating at day 14.

Meant to say as well, hello to everyone else

Hope you're all ok.

I'm having a total mental block as to the returning person today doing the egg sharing! So sorry, I have totally forgotten your name, but I do remember you and the mean nurse! Is it you Karbea?

Anyway, I think the egg donation thing is such a good thing to do. I would totally have looked into that if we'd got to IVF while I was still young enough to do it. I think something that saves amount money and helps someone else, is just win win isn't it!

In fact, if I were younger, I would seriously consider egg donation once I'd done with this pg. however I'll be 35 next Nov, so don't think I'd be able to.

If I could help anyone going through what we're all going through (or have been through) I wouldn't even think twice!

So, do the other couple do their cycle 'fresh' as it were? How does that work logistically? A friend of mine has recently got pg with a donated FET IVF cycle, (after 3 failed attempts on their own - which is mega awesome!) but I think in their case, the donating couple had frozen embryos at the time of their IVF cycle in case they needed them, but it had worked so they donated the 'spares' iyswim?

There are a lot of IVF cycles coming up now aren't there. I shall continue lurking and keeping various limbs crossed all round!

Biscuitsandtea · 16/11/2011 21:01

Fatima sorry - I meant you, not Karbea.

I don't know where my brain is today. Apologies all round!

What I meant to say to Karbea was you will get your baby! I desperately hope that all of you on this thread will, and the sooner the better!

I'm keeping an eye on you though - otherwise I will drag you off to the brooking thread! You know I got my BFP the cycle I joined the brooking thread! Wink Well, actually the cycle I joined MN so also the cycle I joined this thread!

Anyway, I'm rambling, so take myself off to a dark room.

I might do some of that 'Brain Training' stuff to perhaps help my memory Confused

FatimaLovesBread · 16/11/2011 21:07

No thats me Biscuitsandtea Grin I remember you when I was on the thread before

Both mine and the recipients cycle are fresh, they'll time our cycles the same, so that she'll be ready for ET at the same time. after EC half will be kept for us to be fertilised with DHs sperm and the other half will go to her for either her DH or donor sperm.
The clinic have a set of doctors, nurses and counsellors separately for donors and recipients and you have your appointments at different times of the day so it all remains anonymous.

I'm glad you all think it's a good thing to do Smile

Caffeine I had my day 21 test on day 22 as I tend to ovulate on day 15 and have a 29 day cycle.
I didn't have one originally though, only for my new referral. My first hospital said that as long as your periods were regular they just presumed you ov'd rather than testing for it Confused

Pixiepops · 16/11/2011 21:22

Evening all,

Blimey this is a fast moving thread!

Not a lot to report here, DP & I are having a good go for a pre Clomid, ironic BFP though Wink

Hello to all of the newbies & returnees Grin

TheCake · 16/11/2011 21:53

Well I've just come back from yoga and feel very relaxed. I'm intregied by the spunk frittata?! Joycep my LP was 9 days but appears to have increased to 11 in recent months, I'm not sure whether the AC and b6 are helping, whether it's a placebo or just my body adjusting to 15 years of microgynon without a break (went on it at 15 Smile ).

Karbea · 16/11/2011 22:06

B6?

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 17/11/2011 08:28

Morning all!

Today will be a better day at work and I shan't refer to the euroscale again Wink.

OMG that email joycep. That is so stupid of her, does she want to loose them? Pleased it said nothing worse about the pair of you. But I would be soooo angry with my MiL if she did even mention things in emails to others... What a shame about the split family. :(

Quick work with the IVF fatima and well done for the egg-sharing plan. I have to admit that I would find that very difficult (because donor anonymity has been abolished, hasn't it?) So all respect to you. And OMG that nurse, I vaguely remembered but it was worse than I thought. Great to know you are being helped so much better now though.

eggsandtoast I totally agree with the what the ladies have said about getting yourself a new GP from that practice and both a thryroid and TTC referral, I think.

Entertained by biscuits clear pg brain. Lovely to have you about as our mascot. And as we seem to average 1 BFP per thread, I think we should fill this one up as quickly as we can/we were doing yesterday!

I love long posts stasi and good to have you back. I recalled your stats, because they are so :( with the cancer and things... Fingers crossed for the ironic last ditch attempt BFP for pixie (hadn't seen you for a while, all ok?)

Waves at wine and mrsd because I cannot quite happen what you all wrote. Except tea being cooked for one of you Envy

Welcome to caffeine - not given up that or alcohol or raw fish (I love sushi) or anything else for TTC, well I had about a year ago, but after 6 months decided it was not worth it - and to more cakes, there are two of you on here now (that is going to be a challenge for my non-pg brain!) But I do yoga once or twice a week, love it :) Welcome back mrsspunkfritatta that was such a valuable contribution, that you have been forgiven for disappearing immediately after!

ladygee · 17/11/2011 09:13

Hello to all you lovely ladies - newbies and longstanding

Wow - what a busy day on here yesterday, brilliant stuff.

Loving the period talk. I've always wondered how you're supposed to answer the question about whether your periods are heavy/light/painful? How can you judge when you've never had anything to compare it to... now we have the euroscale Wink

Joycep - email can be so dangerous. How silly to write such personal and insulting things in an email. Glad there was nothing bad about you but still its horrid being in the middle of family conflicts, I hope things work out.

Fatima - I think it's great that you are egg sharing, such an altruistic act. Can I ask (and please don't feel the need to answer if I'm being too personal) did the clinic raise the question with you or did you ask about it? We have our next appt tomorrow to talk about next steps and, I guess, what kind of IVF cycle we'd need/when we'd start etc - just wondering if the issue will be raised as it isn't something I've thought about.

Remembering MrsHY1 spunkfritatta recipe - and being glad I didn't have a microwave to even tempt me into trying it!

lemons - liking the theory that the quicker we fill the thread, the quicker we get the next BFP...

Loup23 · 17/11/2011 09:39

Morning girls, love this new home I've found, reading throught posts is v amusing and much better than work..... Am also intrigued about the spunk frittata, can someone repost...?!

Off for my 21 day bloods in a moment (actually day 27 for me as have late ovulation) although have to confess didn't turn the CBFM on this month or chart as doesn't seem to be helping anyway.

Will catch up and name check when I'm back x

Biscuitsandtea · 17/11/2011 12:19

Here is the spunk frittata thread that MrsHY1 entertained us with

Stasi · 17/11/2011 12:30

Morning everyone, I think today I will be keeping my legs crossed all day in the hope of keeping AF away. Temps dropped this morning, but not as far as I would expect on an AF day. Did have some PMT last night, and a bit of very low down cramping. Fingers crossed though!

Bean thanks for reposting - I don't think I'll be trying that method...

Karbea · 17/11/2011 13:33

I'm not going to read, I don't want to know what it is!

Day 17 for me, so nothing going on. DO you think it's worth calling the doctors to see if our blood test results are back yet?

"Back from my 20week scan" post from a girl I used to work with on FB this morning, and another girl who I DM yesterday as I saw she knew my cousin, replied back to say she was 6months pregnant. I'm actually really pleased for them, I not feeling any of the jealousy I used to feel... dunno why...

Carrot and Coriander Soup YUM!

ladygee · 17/11/2011 13:44

Hi Karbea - forgive me I can't remember when you went for your tests? They usually say allow about a week - if it's been 5 days or so, I'd call. They didn't call me when mine came back because they were all ok, they seem to only have a policy of calling if you need an appt to discuss them.

It's good that you're feeling ok about FB announcements and the like. I'm not there yet but wish I was.

Soup does sound yum. I've just given in to my peanut butter craving that I've been harbouring since AF started and had some on toast. Not so virtuous but very tasty.

mrsden · 17/11/2011 13:55

I couldn't stand FB posts so I left, and I don't really miss it. But some people email instead because they don't want me to miss out Hmm so I still can't escape scan and bump photos. One of my friends is due any day and she emailed me this morning with a photo of her stood sideways with her massive bump on show. I'm not sure what she wants me to reply to say, other than good luck for the birth.

karbea if it's been a week then I would phone for the results. If you're like me then ask for actual figures even if they say everything is ok because I like to know everything! But I know some people are happier without the details.

I spotted ewcm this morning so that's made me happy Smile. I pounced on DH before he went to work. I can't decide whether to try every other day, every day, twice a day or what this month. I've tried everything and it's never worked before so I don't suppose it matters much.

joycep wow, 5 eggs is amazing. Fingers crossed. When do you have IUI this time? If you end up with quintuplets would you mind loaning me one (on say an 18 year lease?) That's sad about your MIL, I hope everyone can make up at some point. I imagine she is feeling pretty stupid right now. I am from a big family so someone is always falling out with someone but it tends not to last long and I can never keep up with what the latest argument is about. I'm probably the most passive one so I tend to keep out of it all which can only be a good thing.

cakes82 · 17/11/2011 14:23

Hi All
I got my appt through this morning for first visit to Infertility Clinic on 22nd Nov but I have a conundrum, assuming no miracles have taken place, I think that af is due anytime from 20th onwards but most likely on 22nd itself so what do I do does that matter?

Hi TheCake interesting the effect you feel microgynon has had on you. Thats the one I was on 3 years in row last time but on and off since I was about 18.
