Time for a new thread as the other one is just about full.

Fingers crossed for lots of patiently-awaited BFPs on this one!

Arrr of course you need to align your cycles.
I could start as soon as day 21 (I'm on day8), was talking to my acupuncturist and he said that timings would follow my cycle so they could be extracting eggs in 27days time!!!

Stasi · 17/01/2012 21:06

Very quick phone post, mostly just to say happy birthday euro.

I will catch up tomorrow, I've read everything but can't remember anything. Got a terrible headache, and very tired. Silly cat woke me up at 3:30 am and I don't think I got back to sleep after.

Waves, hugs and good luck to all who need it.

kittysaysmiaow · 17/01/2012 21:46

Hello lovely ladies, popping in quickly tonight as have just got back from an epic day at work followed by an equally epic yoga class and I am absolutely bushed. So will just say HAPPY BIRTHDAY lovely euro Smile Wine and will do a proper catch up and post my updated stats tomorrow. Oh and I totally think Cumbersnatch is hot. Can't believe you met him, gin! And nelly I am getting a bit excited about your metallic mouth in a nonchalant fashion. And getting v excited generally for ivf ladies. Right I really am going now but will be back tomorrow. Grin

eurochick · 18/01/2012 12:46

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, ladies. :)

I am back from my first appointment at the IVF clinic. It was fine. They took a clymidia [sp?] swab and did a dildocam scan. Luckily the blood flow has calmed a lot overnight so I managed not to cover everything in blood... She decided my left ovary (6 visible follicles) is not polycystic but the right is (13 visible follicles). It is the right one that always gves most ovulation pain. I wish they would make up their minds. I was told when I was a teenager I had PCOS. Then I was told by the GP when I started fertility investigations that the bloodtests didn't show it and by the sonographer at the NHS fertility clinic that the dildocam scan I had there didn't indicate polycycstic ovaries. Then I saw my private gynae who described my ovaries as multicystic (somewhere between normal and polycycstic). And today they decided I had one of each! Confused

The ball is really rolling now. We have our next appointment in February (it could have been sooner but I need to ovulate and then hubby has to do another SA for them). I am amazed at how fast things are moving. i told them I really do want to get another couple of Letrozole cycles in before moving to IVF.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 18/01/2012 13:13

Hello lovely ladies!

Intriguing appointment euro, are or aren't your ovaries somehow-cystic? And more importantly does it have any effects on your chances with IVF?

I wanted to add my 2p on changing hospitals, we did change, and it set us back about a month (would have been more if I had not cried so effectively) but we feel much better to be in the hospital with way better stats, than the one we started off from. I would really consider moving, even if it is a hassle, unless the hospital you are in now has actually got their act together, because I would be very hesitant to go through all the trouble of IVF not with the best chance you can get (on the NHS). But of course this is a very individual choice.

Well done on rolling balls, in any case. Very exciting!!

Waves and welcome back at karbea. Good to have you back on the thread if you are going through IVF, I fear a fair few of us will be joining you sooner or later.

How annoying about the wait fatima, can't your recipient get a bloody move on (pun intended - am working from home today, so a little contact deprived).

Well done for the mammoth sessions work and yoga kitty very impressed!! I really should do the same, thankfully we've been a bit quiet today, otherwise I would have been in all sorts of trouble today...

Hope you feel better soon stasi. Hope all is well with the lovely rest of you (trying to remember the previous page from the top of my head is not working, so just a generalised wave!)

Stasi · 18/01/2012 14:44

Afternoon everyone. All is good today here, got a good night's sleep and feeling much better today. Nothing else to report though, too early in the cycle for anything interesting.

Pixie try not to stress about the ibuprofen, I don't think such a small dose could have caused problems for you. Is this your first cycle of clomid? If so, any changes are likely due to the clomid rather than a couple of painkillers. Also, if your ovulation has been delayed, your AF will probably come proportionally later too - you won't miss implantation because of it.

Nelly no, I can eat whatever I like - except caffeine. I like to avoid a lot of the things that have been associated with cancers though, not that it'll help me now really. When you start looking at how much processed and red meat is around, you realise how easy it is to go over the recommended levels. Hence trying to make all my own stuff now - even going so far as growing my own veg. Just seems healthier generally, which can't be a bad thing for anyone.

euro I'd be a bit worried about the poor results, unless the hospital can give you a very good reason for them. I would probably look at switching, especially as you want a bit more time before starting the IVF anyway. It shouldn't be a fight to change, just a request.

I also was told there's no point in ovulation drugs, as I'm already ovulating. However, the consultant decided this based on one blood test - he was totally uninterested in my charts and cycle info!

lemon excellent news on the doubling of swimmers! Fingers crossed this will be your month, and if not, that the IUI works for you first time.

Fatima immaculate conception is the one thing we've not tried, perhaps you will be the first on this thread to get a BFP without any SWI!

kitty hope you've had a restful night and feeling calm and serene today after your hectic day yesterday.

ladygee · 18/01/2012 14:46

Hello everyone!

Forgot to say yesterday, loving the new name nelly!

Fatima - I'm the same - never been in hospital for anything more than an outpatients appointment. I'm hoping that ec and sedation will be less scary after I've injected myself daily for about 4 weeks. We'll see... Both DH and I are a bit needle-phobic so the first few days are going to be interesting.

And ouch at your speculum experience! Has CD1 arrived yet?

Karbea - so pleased things are moving forward for you too. I'm excited and nervous in equal measure now. We're down to single figures of days not that I'm counting before the injections start.

stasi - hope you had a good night's sleep and you're feeling better today

euro - why can they never agree on anything?!? So confusing for you - I'm not sure of the differences between each of the descriptions but it sounds like you already knew your right ovary was more active. What does that diagnosis mean for IVF? Is it a higher risk of OHSS?

Hope everyone else is well.

ladygee · 18/01/2012 14:50

X-posts stasi - glad you're feeling better. And now have a lovely homely image of you making everything from scratch and growing all your veg. Just lovely Smile

eurochick · 18/01/2012 14:56

Ladygee I think it means they will be careful about OHSS. I'm not sure beyond that.

I am not going to switch hospitals now I have got the ball rolling. And the people I have met there so far seem lovely. Frankly the past 6 months of results are fine. So I hope they are past their problems. It is a major teaching hospital (King's) so they should be competent.

OP posts:
ladygee · 18/01/2012 15:09

That makes sense, euro

TBH if the stats overall look good and you're happy with the people, that's the main thing. You've got to be comfortable with them and trust they're doing the best thing for you. Horror stories and blips can happen at the very best of places and you tend to find that they are much more vigilant off the back of a poor performance so you'll probably get better treatment than you might elsewhere or would have done a couple of years ago

poutintrout · 18/01/2012 15:14

Hello ladies.

Cakes I spend ages worrying about what could go wrong if I ever got a BFP. I think it's because I would be an old mum and the stats aren't good.

fatima You are so right about the adoption thing. People so glibly trot out the adoption line and it drives me insane too. They have no comprehension of the fact that it isn't easy to adopt and there isn't a whole pool of babies waiting to be handed out to the poor barren ladies. In reality the children up for adoption are most often quite old and have serious issues that require a very special set of parents to adopt them who are equipped to deal with their requirements, emotional or physical.

Your swab incident made me laugh but seriously that is so unprofessional of the nurse.

karbea It is so excitingto think of what could be in two months time Smile

Euro I'm glad that things are progressing for you. However yet again I have this sinking feeling about the NHS. I don't understand why you have had conflicting diagnoses in regard to whether you have PCOS. I used to sing the praises of the NHS but I am continually rocked by what I read on this thread and getting less and less confident.

lemons I am having one of those days too, in fact one of those weeks. Normally in the 2ww I'm raring to go and am full of beans instead I just want to eat cake and sleep Smile

stasi I was told the same as you regarding ovulation drugs. This was based on three blood tests though so I am fairly confident that all is well on the ov front.
I like your idea of the immaculate conception and seeing as between us we have tried just about everythig else on this thread I think it sounds like a new plan Smile

ladygee I feel for you about the blood tests. I am vein phobic and absolutely hate the tourniquet.

Tried to watch 15 Babies and Counting that I had recorded and had to turn it off after just 5 minutes. I just couldn't face it when one of the mums was going for a scan. I thought I was getting better with all this but obviously not. I just keep thinking why me. This woman can knock out 15 of the blighters and I can't manage 1.

Oh wedding update, my mother isn't coming because she can't face the journey. Slap in the face number 3052!!!!

Karbea · 18/01/2012 15:44

Euro sounds like a thorough appointment, which is good!

ladygee when do you think you'll start injections???

pout I loved that programme, I kept saying i would have loved 4 kids, DH reminded me we'd be lucky if we get one :S

eurochick · 18/01/2012 16:33

I was reading an article about the Queen this morning (in Vanity Fair -a subscription was an Xmas present) and she got married in November. By the following May she was 4 months pregnant with Charles. That is how it happens for "normal" people. Meh.

pout your mother is very self-involved isn't she? Might it be for the best that she isn't there given your concerns regarding her drinking? You still sound massively level headed about the whole thing. I am full of admiration.

OP posts:
joycep · 18/01/2012 16:36

Oh my goodness, i?m finding reading all this ivf stuff is making me nervous and i?m not quite there yet Shock. Everything seems to be moving so fast for quite a few people.

pout - you?re not serious?? Is this an attention seeking thing or is she quite old and truly can?t make the journey? What an awful time you?re having all of it. Does it take its toll on yuo stress wise??

ladygee - I found the needle thing the hardest thing with IUI. It?s not that it hurts, it?s just the thought of it going in that scared me. I sat rocking on the side of the bed with tears streaming down my face for 2 hours before I found DH and wailed. He had to do it in the end. I?m sure you won?t be like me though!! And then one day i had to do it at work and i had no option but to do it myself and suddenly I realised it was actually fine ? you?ll feel bloody proud of yourself. I will certainly put it down as one of my achievements in life!

euro - i?m glad your appt went ok today and blimey king?s are moving fast. As someone else said there is nothing like a series of terrible results exposed to give people a kick up the backside.

Fatima - god i wish you get an ironic bfp now at the eleventh hour.

nellywelly - i do liek your new name...i expect you have lots of muddy wellies (oooh typed willies before i noticed typo) as you are out and about with your horse. Any more metal tastes??

Waves to everyone else. I was singing the praises of my new diet and it was all going so well but i think it?s making me sleepy and groggy. I?m salivating for sugar. Forget giving the evil to pregnant women, my poison is now directed at people eating chocolate and biscuits and crisps....

joycep · 18/01/2012 16:43

Euro - however the Queen's mother gave birth to Elizabeth 3 years after getting married. Issues I wonder or perhaps they were just enjoying married life.
But it is the norm you're right!
I notice Ant (Ant & Dec) still hasn't announced any impending baby - he'll know what we are going through. He announced he was trying 2 years ago.

whatmess · 18/01/2012 17:26

Hi all,

Gosh this thread does move very quickly. Just spent the last hour trying to catchup.

Euro My dad gets his cancer treatment at Kings. So far he's not seen the same Dr twice. Don't think he minds though, as each Dr seems to treat his case with a fresh pair of eyes, so he gets varying perspectives on new and innovative tests/treatment. They did send him home once when he was really quite poorly and he ended up in a local hosp. His GP wrote them a letter telling them off and since then they've been a lot more thorough when he has his quarterly check-ups. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you feel the need in the future, you could try getting your GP to write to them with any concerns.

Pout I used to love watching one born every min. I have only just come back to feeling I can watch it again, but then when it was on I wasn't sure if the hubby was okay with it. Think next time it's on I'll just ask him. Sorry about your Mum. Do you think she wants you to organise her getting to the wedding?

Nelly I have name envy. Especially as mine was formed after looking around me having sat for ages trying to think of something that wasn't taken.

I had a health check today. Got told I need to loose 5kgs/9 pounds particularly round my middle. It is so out of proportion with the rest of me. Very annoying as I have a tall boy shape so a big waist makes me look like a squished no 11. From what I've read that is a typical PCO symptom. Course if I didn't stuff my face and exercised more ... Smile

Big wave to everyone else.

poutintrout · 18/01/2012 17:26

I'm coming to the same conclusion karbea that my dreams of two or three children are now very, very unlikely and one child will be a bloody miracle!

Agree euro that normal people do manage within those type of timeframes. The few minutes I watched of the 15 kids programme included the woman saying how she gets pregnant very easily, usually in one cycle. Sighs.

joycep LOL at your displaced poison Grin Sorry that your diet is getting more difficult. Maybe you have just reached a bit of a hump and just need to get over that.

I didn't know that Ant and his wife were TTC. God can you imagine how awful to have put that in the public eye and then 2 years down the track still no bubs. Not that they should feel ashamed but I just think of the pressure I feel to conceive without the media discussing it on top.

Maybe I shouldn't mention my Mum thing because I fear sometimes I am venting too much and it isn't exactly baby related. Also worry that you'll all start thinking I am making it up soon!!!! You're right joycep she is a massive cause of stress and that on top of TTC to no avail is just too much!
Don't think that she is attention seeking in this instance euro - makes a change- she just can't be arsed to get a bus to the airport and get on a bloody flight, she thought that she would be ferried there by car BUT you are right I am secretly relieved that she won't be getting pissed but it is tinged with the shock that she can't be bothered to go to her own daughters wedding.
Me, me, me post over. Sorry.

poutintrout · 18/01/2012 17:30

X-post mess How do you go about losing weight from your middle???? I only manage to lose weight from my not ample to begin with chest and face.

I too have name envy. I really don't know what possessed me to choose mine. It did appear to make some semblance of sense at the time but for the life of me I can't remember what now Grin

ladygee · 18/01/2012 17:33

pout - Oh dear, your mother is literally unbelievable. After all you've been through, I'm sorry. I can't imagine how you must feel. Do you think she'll change her mind again before the big day?

Luckily - not sure that is the right word at all! - the injections are straight into the stomach. Just thinking about it makes me feel funny but I'll have to get over it! No more blood tests that involve veins or tourniquets for a while, thank goodness.

karbea - injections start next Friday, eek!

joycep - I'm sorry all the IVF treatment chat is making you nervous. I'm conscious everyone's at different stages and didn't mean to overexpose people to stuff before they are at that stage. Sorry.

I remember the horrible time you had with injections for IUI. I started out saying that I'd just get DH to do it but now I kind of think I want to try myself. There'll be lots of wailing before I get to that stage though, I can guarantee it!

Hopefully your grogginess is sugar cold turkey and it will pass soon. I started my calorie counting properly again today so will join you in evil-glares at those eating goodies.

Just logged on to FB to be greeted by two 'isn't my newborn baby wonderful' pics - which I was ok about. Then one pregnancy announcement (from someone on my list of definitely not trying yet) - which made me sad. And then one invite to a 'guess my baby's birth weight' sweepstake - FFS.

Karbea · 18/01/2012 18:06

My diet is rubbish lately - today ive had two packets of crisps and a mega drumstick sweet :( I hope they can't tell on my scan tomorrow that ive been eating cr*p for days :(

whatmess · 18/01/2012 18:35

Pout Don't think you can target one area for weightloss. I'm banking on all the weight heads straight for my middle, so that's where it should come off first when I exercise. Otherwise I shall look like one of those kids drawings with a round body and sticks for limbs.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 18/01/2012 20:43

whatmess I don't think I've said hello yet! Sorry and hello!

I'm a fellow pcos sufferer and classic weight round middle person as well. I have a huge stomach!! It's disgusting really hence the ww and tryin to slim down.hopefully it will help my cycles to be thinner as I'm sure weight is a big factor in not ovulating!

Hope everyone else is doing ok
