Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are all jolly well going to smack the rat this month and grow a baby and we'll brook no argument. And probably eat some cake too.

I don't know, Little, just advise you not to go near sick people? Haven't a clue. And yay for a nice long cycle! When are you going to test? :)

PopcornMouse · 25/11/2011 13:44

NHS.co.uk says: "If you are already pregnant, you will be offered a rubella immunity test by your GP or midwife as part of your antenatal care. Most women are immune and no further action is required.
If you are not immune to rubella, try to avoid anyone who has the rubella virus. Inform your GP if you come into contact with anyone who has the rubella virus (see box, right).
You can receive the MMR vaccination after giving birth to protect you against rubella in the future. The MMR vaccine can be given to breast-feeding mothers without any risk to their baby. "

PopcornMouse · 25/11/2011 13:50

The effects look horrendous (I wish I hadn't looked) - if AF arrives next week, I'll go and see a GP about a blood test and go from there :(

beangrower · 25/11/2011 14:06

Munkiii - I am impressed at your resilience and + attitude. MCs must be v tough when you are TTC (I have had one but was on the pill at the time so v different). But beware - my friend miscarried at 8 weeks (aged 37) then next month conceived... TWINS (v gorgeous they are...)!!! She already had DS too! But I have a cod theory that your ovary pops extra eggs after an early MC. No science to back it up though.

I'm very conscious that even IF I am diffed this month that at 40yo I've statistically got quite a high chance of MC. I am going to keep up the acupuncture and behave myself and that's all I can do.

Right Little gingery loaf coming your way. And great about the longer cycle - bound to be a BFP.

beangrower · 25/11/2011 14:10

Hi Pop - so it's win-win either way. My you have such long cycles... If my AF was due yesterday... Or were you two cycles ahead? Lost... Confused

Tbh I wasn't fully aware of the rubella problem when I was preggers 2.5 years ago (and still wouldn't know). And I turned down a flu jab (even though I haven't got a spleen, another story)... But if you're like me and work from home then you do tend to stay healthier through pregnancy (until you live with a rug rat that is). Worth going back for more info like you say if AF does arrive.

beangrower · 25/11/2011 14:13

ps Will get photos of jumper up. It's only a toddler size so not really a big deal but does require stamina nonetheless. I bet you have crocheted a Happy Hooker bikini haven't you, Pop?

beangrower · 25/11/2011 14:20

Hi Pop - couple of bad photos of crochet (taken by my MacBook, sorry). The jumper is green and black with yellow arms - poor DS will be feeling a bit queasy with this on I think! But lovely organic wool from Cornwall... Elephant made for DS who has ignored it in favour of matchbox cars from Ebay. Classic lad.

GreenOlives · 25/11/2011 14:27

Good afternoon ladies, I was wondering whether I could join you? I have a confession to make - I've been a lurky lurker for a while but I've finally plucked up the courage to join you as I realise the magic of this thread won't rub off on me by just reading, I feel I need to be an active member!! Saying that you ladies do talk an awful lot and I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up but I intend to do my very best!

My story is that I'm 36 and my DH is 31 and we have a cheeky lovely DS who is 3.5 (conceived after 6 months TTC). We started trying for no.2 in May 2009. I got pregnant but had an early miscarriage in Nov 2009, then it was a full 13 months before my next BFP which I unfortunately miscarried on Boxing Day last year. Another 10 months of TTC followed before a surprise ectopic pregnancy last month which required surgery and removal of my left tube!

Anyhow, that is all in the past and I am determined to embrace the "no brooking" attitude, I am going to have another child! And as today is CD1 (following my WTF cycle) I believe that it is in fact the first day of my pregnancy - is that how it works?!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you, happy weekend to all! (I'm just off for a cheeky afternoon nap as I am working a night shift tonight - boo!)
x

PopcornMouse · 25/11/2011 14:47

Same cycle, bean! Usually 31 days, but this one will be 38 (which has never happened before)

Love the jumper, I think the colours are a nice match! Very boyish but without being gloomy, as some boys clothing tends to be imho. I've never used yarn from Cornish Wools but do love Jamieson & Smith. I am currently knitting socks from Madelinetosh which was kerching but lovely to use :d
And I love the elephant too - it'll be perfect for lego characters to ride on in a few years ;)

Hi green! Wow, it sounds like you've had a really hard time of it Shock you're in the right place, though :)

whimsicalname · 25/11/2011 14:56

Hello everyone, no time to catch up, (altho I quickly noticed bean has resurfaced. Phew)

Just to let you know I am now Dr Whimsical Name. Viva was awful, but I only have 3 amendments, so they were just putting me through my paces. Meanies.

Am now off to get shitfaced have a glass of champagne

A lovely weekend to you all.

PopcornMouse · 25/11/2011 15:09

YAY! Well done Dr Whimsy !!

beangrower · 25/11/2011 15:15

Hi Green - great to meet you and well done for jumping in; not that you'll get a word in edgeways! Grin Yes, Pop's right - very tough time for you but we know you will beat it and with some extra brooking your next DC is in his or her little way. Well done for taking a + attitude. I have caught myself feeling sorry for old Bean from time to time (just because motherhood was only an opportunity rather late in life) but it's not clever and being here helps keep a GSOH.

Hi DR Whimsi - CONGRATS and two fingers (not for victory) to the meanies! And now for DC 4 is it? Wow, what a lot you've achieved! Enjoy the s-f fun.

38 days - how strange, Pop. Our bodies do play tricks. Hope you've tricked it into a BFP now - get your own back. You're right about boys clothing - dull khakis, browns or blue. But in the Bean household we don't shy away from orange and peacock colours (usually intended for the girls) and DS often thought a DD by observers. Bring it on. DS now very into kissing other children, mostly boys... but I think that would have happened with muddy colours anyway.

Elephant now my mascot for domesticity.

Put up pick of your socks please (if you can be bothered of course). Kerching Grin is often worth it I find...

PopcornMouse · 25/11/2011 16:38

I've stuck a photo in my profile bean, but I'll have to delete it in a bit as I'm not really allowed to have photos floating around on the net before the pattern's printed (presumably incase the competition sees it Hmm )

Awww your DS sounds so lovely :)

beangrower · 25/11/2011 16:54

Wow - they are stunning socks (too good for feet!)... You have a real gift there Pop. I'm jealous. I can really only do basic crochet stitches and am rubbish with two sticks. Grin

DS is sweet but other children rather overwhelmed by bearhugs and sloppy/snotty snogs! Smile I feel he may have some hard lessons in life ahead of him...

xxx

PopcornMouse · 25/11/2011 17:00

Aww thanks bean Blush

GreenOlives · 25/11/2011 17:15

Thanks for the welcome bean and Popcorn. The knitting looks fab, I am always a little envious of creative people as I am distinctly crap at such things Grin I can cook though and I have noticed that you ladies enjoy a bit of baking too. My nap was spectacularly unsuccessful - why is it that I could happily nap any other day but before a night shift I suddenly become wide awake!
Congrats to Drwhimsicalname, that's a fantastic achievement, enjoy your well-deserved champagne!

Stasi · 25/11/2011 17:34

Afternoon all. Wow, turn away from MN for a little while to pretend to get some work done and look at all that's happened!

Bean glad to have you back! The crochet jumper looks great. I'm trying to knit a jumper for DH just now, but I've not got very far yet.

DrWhimsy congratulations! Of course we all knew you'd get through with flying colours. Enjoy your champagne and a well earned rest!

Popcorn ooh, nice long cycle there. Hope it ends in a BFP.

Time to head home now, will catch up properly with people later.

Imps7 · 25/11/2011 18:03

Helloooooooooo Green! You will get luckly on this thread, make no mistake.

Bean you're back! Hurrah! Sounding very BFP-y your way...

Had an awful awful day and now am off home for a shag and maybe a noggin of chianti.

As you were.

Also welcome to Green and congrats on day 1 of your pg!

musicalmrs · 25/11/2011 18:54

Congratulations Dr Whim! glad it went wonderfully!

Welcome Green! You are now officially pregnant...

So, who's POAS/PIAR tomorrow? Bean, when will you be doing so? :)

Munkiii · 25/11/2011 19:04

DrWhim hurrah! Hope you are enjoying that champagne xx

Evening everyody else!

TheLittleFriend · 25/11/2011 19:31

Welcome green. Sounds like you have had a really rough road ttc so far. I hope we can offer you some cheer and a quick bfp.

DrWhim I love that we can call you Dr! Congratulations!

BeedleTheBard · 26/11/2011 08:16

What no news of pee sticks yet this morning? bean , sweetie I'm talking to you

I don't think I said congratulations to DrWhim yesterday, so Congratulations :) hope you had a lovely evening celebrating.

hello Green, you've been having a really tough time ttc, hope it improves now you've joined us

popcorn what exactly was the killer session that delayed ovulation? Glad it was a delayed ovulation though not an anovulatory cycle.

No real news from me, 13dpo, still a bit crampy (not normal for me) my temps are neither high nor low so perhaps I'm still in with a chance (brooking no argument emoticon)

PopcornMouse · 26/11/2011 08:53

Beedle it was only twenty minutes of exercise Blush but I literally had to drag myself up the stairs by the bannister for three days afterwards. She was meeeean!

I have a tummy ache today, it's all crampy - I was sure AF was coming, but she's not due yet and my temp's actually up. And I've been constipated (sorry tmi Blush ) for about 4 days now (probably the source of the cramping?) which is unusual and I've been eating plenty of fibre.

PopcornMouse · 26/11/2011 08:54

Ooooo we have POASers due today do we? Do it do it do it! :o
