Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are all jolly well going to smack the rat this month and grow a baby and we'll brook no argument. And probably eat some cake too.

Ladies....begin.

OP posts:

Yes, I've been wondering about bean. Maybe she snuck off to India with far.

Thanks for all your concern about my DH. He's pretty much better now (although it's tempting to blame the lack of pregnancy on him...) but it was a pretty bad couple of months. I was 8 weeks pg with ds3, and my other 2 both had flu at the same time, one of whom was also nearly hospitalised with different side effects. And my parents were out of the country.

In terms of getting a brownie, no, the health centre didn't actually give me one. I had to go private, as it were, and self administer.

However, when the mws heard what I was going through, they did bring me a cup of tea and some biscuits. Broadly, I would say you don't want hcps bringing you cups of tea. It means the news is really bad.

PopcornMouse · 23/11/2011 20:04

Gosh it really sounds like you all went through the mill. I'm glad you're all backu health though, it sounds like you were all really lucky.

possiblemaybebaby · 24/11/2011 09:53

Morning rat smackers, we are pretty quiet in here of late

Popcorn it's crazy the lengths people will go to isn't it!

I'm glad your DH is much better now Whim, and your poor little ones too.

Stasi · 24/11/2011 10:38

I was really lucky with the swine flu, because I was having chemo at the time I was given the jab 3 times, and told to avoid all public places. My mother and stepfather both had what they say was swine flu, they both work as nurses and had turned down getting the jab. Luckily no one I know got worryingly ill.

Well, I had my oncology appointment yesterday which was fine. Still didn't get my blood test results, as I felt it was a bit too cheeky in the end to ask her for them.

I've got to talk to DH about his SA. We've had the pot for 3 weeks now, and he's put it off again till next week. I wonder if he's worried about doing it, or just forgetful. Next week is the start of our SWI, so I'd like to get it out of the way early on so it doesn't affect our chances for the month.

Hope everyone else is well, I'm feeling a bit tired this morning so have forgotten most of what I read. I'll catch up properly later.

SweetieDoesIt · 24/11/2011 10:46

Morning all

Poor Whims seems you really went through it last year, glad that it all behind you and you can move forward - but it must have been TERRIBLE at the time.

Am still waiting for AF, no sign yet, currently 13dpo so due anytime. I have had a few telltale cramps but only cos I am in full on symptom spotting mode. Not sure I would have noticed them really had I not been looking for them.

Anyone else got anything to report? If not I will have to go back to pretending to preparing my end of year report for my performance review, or make another cup of tea Grin

PopcornMouse · 24/11/2011 10:55

it is soooooooo cold, brookers! Shock

Are you planning on POAS sweetie ? Nothing to report here, 7dpo and not a single symptom, booooring :o

Munkiii · 24/11/2011 11:05

Morning all

So sorry to hear about the swine flu tales, I had it three years ago too and ended up in A&E very scary.

I am muddled up with where everybody is, so I apologise for that.

But I hope everyone is OK and of good spirit, I am trying to channel positivity!

Glad Stasis appointment went well. Some good news there.

PopcornMouse · 24/11/2011 11:08

Oh! Some good news though - after drip-feeding DH my ttc worries (he is easily overwhelmed by the whole thing and holds the view that "all we need is more SWI!" Hmm ), DH has agreed to cut down his caffeine and alcohol intake in exchange for me stressing less (my main downfall, as demonstrated by this month's late ovulation) and exercising more. Progress! :o

PopcornMouse · 24/11/2011 11:10

Stasi can you get the results over the phone or from your GP?

BeedleTheBard · 24/11/2011 11:23

morning (or afternoon as it is here, just)

All these people who were very ill with swine flu, I hadn't really realised that it was so common (I thought it was exaggerated by the daily mail!). Anyway glad everyone got better. The jab was offered to everyone here (after children and sick people) so both me and DP had the jab 2 years ago.

glad everythig went well yesterday stasi

sweeetie how long is your LP usually - will you be PIAR tomorrow??????

I can provide a few symptons if anyone wants to hear them!! I had some stabbing sort of pain near my bikini line for about an hour yesterday, can I decide that it was obviously implantation?!!! Well maybe not but I'm 11dpo temps still high and boobs fairly sore, but that's fairy usual for me so doesn't count as full-on sympton spotting.

I thought of everyone yesterday evening as I was out for a meal with my work colleagues and I had creme brulee for pudding, which obviously came in a ramekin Grin - but it would have been no good for peeing in not least because I was sat in a restaurant with all my colleagues cos it was very wide and shallow and I'd probably spill all the wee before I managed to dip a stick in it.

SweetieDoesIt · 24/11/2011 11:44

Stasi you could ask for the results over the phone, the receptionist could only tell me that all was ok but not give me the numbers. I asked for the doctor to call me back for detailed explanation.

I will POAS on Sat first thing I don't have a ramekin Blush, as I will be late by then.

I agree with Generic & Imps about sore boobs as a major sign when I think I was preggers before boobs were SOOOOO painful and I even had to sleep in a bra Blush and everything is currently normal in that, and every other, department.

GenericDietCola · 24/11/2011 11:46

Stasi glad your appointment went well. Hope you have some joy getting DH to do his SA and hope your results from the 3/21 day blood tests are good.

Sweetie no symptoms are the symptoms! Plus, can't remember if it was you or Beedle who was spotty, but I still have two spots on my chin, so I'd say that's a sign!

Popcorn great news! But of course you will get your ironic BFP this month and not need to make any changes!

Beedle stabbing pains = preggo. I noticed some little twinges too and hoped that was what they were. LOL at the ramekin! Oh and sore boos also = preggo. I thought mine had subsided yesterday until I jogged up the stairs - bad idea.

BeedleTheBard · 24/11/2011 11:56

I don't actually own a ramekin either - I have a disposible plastic cup

BeedleTheBard · 24/11/2011 11:59

x-post generic

ooh endorsement from a preggo - that's nearly as good as endorsement from a pee-stick Grin

PopcornMouse · 24/11/2011 12:00

I use a mug :o

Munkiii · 24/11/2011 12:01

I use an old egg cup!

possiblemaybebaby · 24/11/2011 12:14

I use a coffee cup (disclaimer: no one drinks out of it Grin )

That's great news Pop always good when you knoe they are fully on board with you.

Stasi so pleased your appointment went well. I am with the others, the surgery should be able to give you your results over the phone, saves you hanging around in limbo for longer. Also with your DH, I fear if it comes to the point where he has to give a sample (which he obviously won't, and neither will yours, as we are already upduffed) he will be putting it off too. Men can be funny things sometimes. I think it must be cos they are worried that by giving the sample it could show that it is their 'fault' you haven't gotten pregnant yet. Iyswim.

Beedle and Sweetie you two are so preggo that I can smell the HCG from here Grin

whimsicalname · 24/11/2011 12:15

I just pee on the stick. Is that why i'm not pregnant yet?

PopcornMouse · 24/11/2011 12:19

What's the viva? Blush

Either way - good luck!!! :)

Biscuitsandtea · 24/11/2011 12:27

Just popping in to say I never peed in a ramekin either and I managed to convince a pee stick in the end - I used to use a Muller Light yogurt Pot!

Oh and spots = deffo preggo - I had some whoppers when I got my bfp - I thought I might not be able to leave the house!

As you were ladies :)

possiblemaybebaby · 24/11/2011 12:28

Good luck Whim Is it a morning or afternoon one? I hope you are having a nice party afterwards with multiple glasses of wine I will be brooking very hard for you, just remember, it's your own work, and you know it better than them Smile

Pop a viva is like a hardcore interrogation of your thesis at the end of your PhD. Normally 2 examiners that rip your work apart ask you questions. Then you find out if you are a Doctor or not!

PopcornMouse · 24/11/2011 12:30

Wow, that sounds terrifying Shock

possiblemaybebaby · 24/11/2011 12:39

But Whim is going to smack it. Just like we are all going to smack that rat. Oh yes

SweetieDoesIt · 24/11/2011 12:39

Good luck Whims with the viva, sock it to them girl!!!

Not even got any spots to report Sad
