Happy birthday Biscuits Thanks

ScrambledSmegs · 07/11/2011 11:25

Happy birthday Biscuits! Hope you have a lovely day, and that your boiler gets fixed so you're all toasty warm on this cold day.

SweetieDoesIt · 07/11/2011 12:17

Happy Birthday to Biscuits make the most of any offers of cake that come your way , I believe it is all guilt free when preggers.

Beedle ask your Dr about doing blood tests, worst he/she can say is no. When I went I was surprised I was offered them but wasn't going to turn it down and we hadn't even started really trying at that point!!

Scrambled cycle buddies = very exciting. It will be lovely to know that there is someone out there to hold hands with through this time. Smile I am not using OPK or taking temps or anything else at the moment, I am just tracking my cycles and looking out for any tell tale signs. I don't want to obsess if I can help it so early I know this will come and am not looking forward to it into our trying. In the back of my mind I keep thinking after Christmas if not BFP I will take things more seriously.

TheLittleFriend · 07/11/2011 12:31

All together now,

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Biscuits
Happy Birthday to you!!

Hope everyone else is good.

CD 5 here. I'm going to start the opk's today. FX for nice early ovulation.

Biscuitsandtea · 07/11/2011 13:17

BeedleTheBard · 07/11/2011 13:25

mmmm birthday cake

ScrambledSmegs · 07/11/2011 14:02

Ooh cake! Yummy!

Thanks little! Great baking skills Smile How are you feeling?

Imps7 · 07/11/2011 14:11

Happy birthday Biscuits!! Hope you are having a relaxing day. Have a lovely bunch of flowers Thanks and a birthday Brew.

Well, what a day at work. None of the partners are talking to me - I love the fact that it's my colleague and I who are at risk losing our jobs, but it's the partners who are having a sulk because we dared to critcise them in our consultation meetings Hmm. I bumped into one of them when I was making a cuppa earlier - she couldn't look me in the eye let alone speak to me. So me being a childish me, looked straight at her and in my most irritating loud and jolly voice said "Oooh hello there how are you doing today??". Cue a mumbled "fine thanks" and a scurrying off. Mwah ha ha ha ha ha ha Grin

beangrower · 07/11/2011 14:15

Hi Biscuits fellow scorp - HAPPY BATHDAY Flowers etc

Missed you lot for a few days. Went to Brussels to try to divert myself. Was lovely though toddler a bit knackered and grumpy now, and DP looking rather bleary too. But an adventure not to be missed.

I don't know about the rest of you guys but the internet is a terrible one for giving you the heebies. I have been reading up on AMH levels (being 40 an all) and I can't say things are looking too promising for this old duffer. But I did do a home FSH test (for what it was worth) and nothing to report there other than it's not high, thank goodness. Tomorrow I'm off to the GP - I want all the tests available on the NHS but may need to ask for a referral to test AMH privately. Anyone else here been tested for AMH?

Right - now where did I put that sense of humour/optimisim. It was here somewhere...

Oh CD 11 btw but no smileys today. But time to DTD methinks if I can wrestle guitar and Wine off DP this evening.

x

beangrower · 07/11/2011 14:16

Sorry that's Thanks for Biscuits big day...

whimsicalname · 07/11/2011 14:20

Hello. Can i join in? Currently ttc #4 (feel slightly guilty saying that). Last 3 took planning rather than trying (in that I said 'i'll be pregnant by so and so date, and then was). This one has taken lots of practice over 6 months, and still no joy.

And 3 friends have had babies this week. Very disheartening. I'm too busy with work to go and see them and catch luck from them. Maybe I'll catch some here!

beangrower · 07/11/2011 14:23

Oh and hi Sweetie welcome from a relative newbie too. Sounds like your test results are positive. Don't be put off by 38. I got preggers with DS when I was 37 and had a homebirth at 38 - if that's encouraging (rather than smug - sorry if the latter!) However, rather anxious now that I may be done and dusted on the baby front. Then again I count myself v lucky that I've got a little corker and will just have to make the most of life's rich tapas plate full of delicious - gulp - yum tapestry if that's where I end up.

beangrower · 07/11/2011 14:27

Hi Whimsi - dare I ask what age you are (because that's my obsession)?! Don't be disheartened by friends having babies. It happens all the time and you've been there done that - they're all totally knackered with sore nips anyway. Smile

Imps - enjoying your work taunting. I wish I'd been there to snigger.

beangrower · 07/11/2011 14:56

Oh CRIKEY have only just seen that I missed a BFP this weekend. Congratulations Jazzy so chuffed for you. You must feel amazing.

Also pleased that Far has seen someone helpful - very positive steps to that BFP.

TTFN - til tomorrow you lovely Brookers. Better actually do some work.

xxx

PopcornMouse · 07/11/2011 14:59

What's AMH, bean ?

Does anyone know whether FR OPKs are more sensitive than internet cheapies? I got a faint line, but the leaflet says to disregard - BUT I know with internet cheapies that a faint line is as much as I get, and when I'm not surging I get precisely zip. Feeling silly for changing half way through, now.

PopcornMouse · 07/11/2011 15:00

PS, Imps, can I please have some lessons on how to be evil assertive? :o

beangrower · 07/11/2011 15:23

Anti-mullerian hormone - measures your ovarian reserve. Am wondering if mine is low in which case best to drop TTC and get on with my life after quite a lot of feeling sorry for myself of course.

I've only ever used CB Opks - always get a smiley face - so don't have to interpret... Sorry not much help.

x

Solars · 07/11/2011 17:20

Imps me thinks you are having far too much fun over this redundancy malarky, but I like your style!

Bean good luck with the swi and I hope you don't mind me asking but how did you test your FSH levels at home?

Welcome Whim

Popcorn sorry no idea on FR opks, I have used mainly tesco own brand ones and also CB normal (ie not digital) ones, worth checking online??

SweetieDoesIt · 07/11/2011 18:12

Thanks Bean I know it is possible for us more mature ladies who still act and feel about 20 to still stand a chance. My Dr was very positive when I went to see him initially and just said our bodies have to work that bit harder so look after it (don't smoke, don't drink too much, eat healthily etc). I know quite a few friends and colleagues who have had DC with very little intervention over the age of 35 and even 40.

So I am brooking no argument at all.

Imps7 · 07/11/2011 19:54

Oh Solars if only it were fun - the process is utterly draining and I'm very, very angry about it - even angrier than I was with the fruit and veg man who stole £5 from me last week (seriously, I cannot believe his barefaced cheek! Who steals a fiver from a customer and expects to get away with it??? Confused)

I'm channelling my redundancy anger in the most positive way I can - by being as robust in my response as reasonableness will allow and, slightly more immaturely, by seeking to make the people who I hold 90% to blame for this whole situation feel as awkward as I possibly can by, you know, forcing them to acknowledge that I still exist! I guess the plotting is quite fun but it's just a coping mechanism really. I'm not worried about being made redundant - I'm just very angry about it.

Sweetie and Bean - keep on with that there brooking and that there shagging! You will have your lovely "more mature" babies before you know it.

musicalmrs · 07/11/2011 20:09

Hi Sweetie and whimsical, welcome to the most updiffed thread on MN!

Imps - can't get over how childish your partners are! Especially considering it's not them who are on the chopping block! Loving your evil ways though - would like to join Popcorn on the evil/assertive lessons please! :D

Glad you're feeling more positive today Solars :)

Had my scan today - all went well, and a little, waving, thumb-sucking baby in there. Hurrah!

Imps7 · 07/11/2011 20:16

Whim, gosh I completely forgot to welcome you! Welcome to the most fecund thread in the world ever. You are automatically pregnant by joining - check out Jazzy as an example of just how true this is!

Musical, great news re: your scan - top stuff! Excellent no brooking skills!

whimsicalname · 07/11/2011 20:50

Thanks everyone. I thought I'd broken the internet when I posted earlier, turned my computer off in a fit of pique and lost my afternoon's work. There's a lesson there about MNing at work, isn't there.

bean I'm 34. My boys are 7, 5 and 1, so I've previously conceived aged 26, 28 and 32. Never taken more than a few weeks before.

ScrambledSmegs · 07/11/2011 23:00

Hello whimsical! Lovely to see so many new rat-smackers on the thread *

musical so glad your scan went well. You're having a baby! Wheee!

Hi Solars. Are you feeling a bit better now?

*Rat-smacking is so called because a poster on the first thread remarked that TTC is much like the game of 'smack the rat'. It's all in the timing...

BeedleTheBard · 08/11/2011 05:43

Morning brookers

So I went to the GP yesterday about my weird 1 day period and she was completely unhelpful. She asked if I could be pregnant, I said I'd got a negative test that morning. She then said it could be just a random occurance, or it could be the start of the menopause Shock, but that if it was my hormone levels wouldn't drop in a straight line but would vary up and down and so there was no point doing any tests. But she said I could come back if they stopped completely (without me being pregnant) ShockShock - well won't it be a bit late by then?

She then helpfully repeated that we couldn't be referred for investigations until we've been trying for 12 months. I'm hoping that her bluntness was just due to the fact that I had asked to speak English, so she was speaking a foreign language (she couldn't remember the English for menopause) but still Hmm.

When I got home and told DP this, he said that his (completely non-medical) diagnosis was it was just due to me being stressed about not being pregnant - I think I prefer that than the menopause.

Anyway back to brooking, rat-smacking should start tomorrow but I'm away with work for 2 days so I might try for a little seducing tonight Grin
