Here we go yet again...

OP posts:
beangrower · 03/11/2011 20:05

ps Generic That was pretty keen to be checking in about placenta for future births! Loved your description of "meeting your DD". Oh lordy, teary again. Better go soak up the hormones with some crap telly. Bye lovely Brookers; you all rock.

Solars · 03/11/2011 21:45

Oh Maybe can't believe af dared to show her ugly face, hope you're feeling better now Thanks

Generic I really hope so but we'll see, could still be a long way to go even on clomid.

Cupcake no real symptoms I think, my nipples have been feeling a bit tickly but that could be in my head. I have been feeling quite hungry the last few days first thing in the morning but I don't think that is a symptom Hmm By the way my dad had a B12 deficiency at the beginning of the year and from what I can remember all he did was change his diet a little and the next time he was tested all was ok. There was talk of injections but don't recall him having them, I'd have to check back with him. Please don't go google mad.

Bean awww, that's such a sweet story about you & DH, hope you're feeling less teary now x

Imps7 · 03/11/2011 22:19

Oh god Maybe sounds like you're having a horrid time. Can I whip you up a batch of Thai chicken noodle soup? No matter what ailment I have, that always makes me feel better. Which foodie mag did you get?? I subscribe to Oliver and Delicious and last year I had a subscription to Good Food too but I didn't renew that as I was getting a bit overwhelmed by all the recipes to cut out and stick in my scrap book!

Bean, bless you, you big teary mess. There, there, let it all out. Have a hot chocolate with mini marshmallows, squirty cream, a flake and sprinkles.

Right am exhausted (preggo symptom alert!) so am going to sleep. Night night!

Stasi · 03/11/2011 23:15

Hi everyone, sorry I've been AWOL today, just sooooo busy with wedding stuff. The hen night last night was good, though quiet as I expected. Just 3 very expensive cocktails each (now I remember why I don't drink - I can't afford it!). Was up bright and early this morning, had a meeting with the registrar, and, bizarrely rearranged the wedding! Only 30 minutes later, and in a much bigger and nicer room, but still, a little late in the day to be emailing everyone and telling them plans have changed. The new room is lovely though, much bigger with a long central aisle, one whole wall of windows, and plenty of room for all our guests. This means I'll be doing 'the long walk' down the aisle in my shoes though - wish me luck!

Got table decorations sorted, and have just finished cooking up chocolate truffles. They need to set overnight now, then add the finishing touches in the morning, pick up the wedding cake, decorate it, then deliver cake etc to reception venue. Then pick up wedding dress, and bridesmaids dresses, drop them off to getting ready location along with shoes and make-up and everything else. Then eat and sleep... then getting married!!

Enough of the me me me.

Maybe really sorry AF got you, I was really hoping you'd be my first BFP announcement on MN. Also, slightly selfishly, I hoped you'd be my proof that Brookers get results so I'd feel more positive about my honeymoon shagathon.

Bean I hope you're feeling better tomorrow, it's hard sometimes to stay feeling positive. It's ok to indulge in some self pity for a day or so, then when you've got the energy to, give yourself a stern little talking to and put on a smile. Just the act of smiling makes one feel happy - scientifically proven! (some weird study I read about once where they had people eating pencils)

It's getting late, and I need to go to bed and convince my DP I'm more sexy than he is tired...

Big hello to everyone else, sorry I've not commented on everything said - you've all been wonderfully talkative today, but it's a little too much to catch up on just now.

OP posts:
BeedleTheBard · 04/11/2011 05:34

Wow Stasi so much to do, hope you have a lovely day on Sat - followed by a wonderful honeymoon of course :)

Maybe can't believe AF was so evil to you, but what a hero your DP is.

The evil old witch caught up with me over night, so I'm back to CD1 AngrySad, but I have the afternoon off work so I'm going shopping followed by pizza, Wine and movie with DP.

Biscuitsandtea · 04/11/2011 06:16

So sorry about the evil witch rocking up Maybe and Beedle SadThanks[where's the emoticon for chocolate???]

Wowsers, Stasi sounds like you have a somewhat busy day ahead! But you also sound totally on top of it so I am sure it will be great. And the room for the wedding sounds great! Did you move the ceremony later or earlier?

Anyway, have a great time today and an immensely fabulous time tomorrow GrinThanks

Are you going on your honeymoon straight away? You'll have an awesome time! GrinSmileWink

How is everyone else doing? Anyone testing imminently?

possiblemaybebaby · 04/11/2011 06:37

Morning one and all!

Stasi have an amazing last day as a single lady, and have a wonderful wonderful wedding. Don't let anything put a dampener on the honeymoon shagathon, hope you are going somewhere lovely Smile

Thanks for the Thanks everyone, the pain will probably ease off today. I had a nice glass of wine last night, and whipped up a sausage casserole. Imps I hope you saved me some thai soup, it's one of my faves Grin

I was reading Olive last night Imps. You are so much more organised than me, I have literally hundreds of food magazines, and a scrap book, but the two don't seem to have met yet... Blush

Bean hope you are feeling better today after a nice early night

Tickly nipples solars? Preggo? Much?

Far how did you get on last night? Hope you got all your answers.

Beedle AF is a cow. If we tell her what for now she is taunting us both, then I reckon she will get the message and bugger off for at least the next 9 months Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 04/11/2011 06:40

Ooh yes, Far how was last night? Hope it was good???

Maybe, glad you're feeling a bit better.

Imps your soup sounds gorgeous. Amy chance of the recipe?

I quite fancy getting a foodie mag subscription, which one would you recommend?

Imps7 · 04/11/2011 07:09

Morning!

Far I really hope that all went well yesterday - come and tell us all about it when you get a mo.

Stasi sounds like you have a busy day ahead! Have a wonderful wonderful day preparing and, of course, wedding day. I did the flowers for my sister's wedding - 13 hours of standing up and making table centres and displays to put at the end of each pew - back breaking work but I was so proud of myself - they looked fabulous! And it was so nice to do something "proper" to help out for the day.

Beedle, that AF is a fat cow. Rise above her - you are the better person.

Hope you're feeling a little bit better Maybe. I am on volume 3 of my scrapbook! Whenever I try a recipe for the first time, I write the date next to it and a little comment about where I was/who I was making it for as well as suggested improvement/amendments - it's like having My Life In Food in a book and is really lovely to read back!

Biscuits, the recipe is here - I tend to have slightly fewer veg and noodles in the soup as the photo suggests as I like the broth bit so much! It really is therapy in a bowl (I'm sounding a bit like Nigella now, aren't I?)

Temp has taken a dip today so I think we're heading to AF Land. Am not hugely worried about it this month - there's so much job stuff going so I have enough to think about at the moment! Plus if I am formally offered the new job, I would prefer to not be pregnant when I accept it - I don't want the new firm to be pissed off that I knew that I would be off for a year pretty much as soon as I started when I accepted the offer. I know my rights etc, but sometimes they mean bugger all!

That said, I still wouldn't say no to a BFP this month!!

Imps7 · 04/11/2011 07:11

Oh, re: foodie mag - I like Delicious and Olive the most in equal measure - the latter tends to have more about eating out and food travel in it. Good Food is also really good - sometimes the recipes uses more pre-prepared things in it, which is great for short cuts and time saving recipes! I suggest you get one of each and see how you feel!

possiblemaybebaby · 04/11/2011 07:42

Seconding Imps on the mag recommendations Biscuits

I am in awe of your organization Imps I am going to take a leaf out of your book and start my scrap book. I have so many cook books too, and DH bought me yet another one on Wednesday [spoilt]

Sorry about the temp dip Imps how many DPO are you?

How horrible does it want to be outside? I though the dog liked the rain, as he has been ok in in the past few days. But he has decided that it is far too heavy today, so has cried everytime I have taken him outside. The noises he was making I am surprised someone didn't call the RSPCA Blush He is now snuggled in an ild towel though, so peace an quiet for a bit Smile

Anyone have any nice plans for the weekend?

possiblemaybebaby · 04/11/2011 07:43

Oooh, and a good recipe Imps I love Nigella, controversial, I know Grin

One of my other favourite soups is a nice mullingatawny. Mmmm, might whip some up over the weekend....

farfallarocks · 04/11/2011 08:40

Hi all, thanks for all your kind wishes!
Have not caught up yet on all the thread but appointment last night was great if not what I was expecting.

I thought he would say - all good, its just bad luck, plough on. But the TEG test revealed that I have a 'Impaired fibrinolysis', bascially I don't break down blood clots as fast as most people. This can lead to miscarriage and inhibit implantation. I was so suprised to be honest I was convinced my problem was hormonal. However, he did say there was a strong link between this and PCOS which I also have according to the scan (but not the blood tests).

So the plan of action is to take heparin in the next pregnancy. Quite a scary prospect (I have had a couple of those when I broke my leg and they are nasty little things) but needs must. I suppose I am getting my head round the fact the any subsequent pregnancy will be a highly medicalised affair with a swift visit to St Mary's for tests and heparin the minute I get a BFP and very close monitoring. My only concern in that I lose them so early I won't know I am pregnant before the implantation starts to fail. I could have probably saved the first one at 5 weeks but not the 2nd one but the conusltant seems to think was an unrelated chemical pregnancy.

So I am glad we did the investigations so early on because one of the risk factors of this condition is late losses and pre-eclamsia which would have been even more distressing so perhaps there early mcs were a blessing in disguise.

The consultant (raj rai) was absolutely wonderful, we spent 40 minutes with him and he has such a lovely manner, very reassuring, good sense of humour and very patient with my endless questions. He actually took my list of questions and wrote the answers in the side in case I wanted to refer to it later!!

DH fab through the whole appointment and very supportive. We also had a chat about how upset I get when he does not play ball, hwo we only have 12 chances a year really and it makes me feel like he does not want a child as much as I do. He reassured me this certainly was not the case, he is just exhausted and stressed out and needs a holiday. So, we both feel ready to crack on next month, the timing should be perfect and I will return from hols with enough time for a mercy dash to st marys should we be successful.

Right, now I am going to catch up with the rest of the rat smackers!!

Biscuitsandtea · 04/11/2011 08:53

That sounds like a very positive appt Far. I mean annoying that it's going to take medical help etc but better to know really! And glad you chatted with DH too - you are going to have a WinkWink holiday aren't you! I was going to say hope you're going somewhere nice but really I hope you're going to a nice room with good room service WinkGrin

Biscuitsandtea · 04/11/2011 08:54

Oh, and I think we should force you to test early now too - whatever your circumstances. You need to be catching that BFP as soon as blardy possible!

ScrambledSmegs · 04/11/2011 09:05

Goodness Imps! That's great news about the diagnosis, and the fact that they can treat it when you get pregnant. Did he say that it doesn't stop you getting pregnant? V glad he made you feel reassured, he sounds like the perfect consultant!

Re: heparin - What are the side effects like? Hope they're not too awful.

Have a good day everyone! Am off to Spirit of Christmas at Olympia today with my mum, I will be immersed in yummy foods and gorgeous gifts for me by 10am. And if I can find the wine section, probably squiffy by lunchtime Grin.

ScrambledSmegs · 04/11/2011 09:06

Bugger. I meant far. Sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry !!!!

GenericDietCola · 04/11/2011 09:11

Stasi glad your hen do was fun and how exciting re the wedding tomorrow! Hope all goes well. My tip would be to pause every now and then throughout the day to take it all in. It goes so fast and there is so much to enjoy.

Bean hope you feel better today!

Oh Beedle so sorry about AF. Welcome to day 1 of your pregnancy though.

Maybe and Imps you are domestic goddesses! I love cooking too and have many, many cookbooks as well as a nice folder full of recipes that I've collected over the years. I like the idea of noting down who you cooked for etc so I may steal that idea Imps! Sorry about the temp dip but it's good you have so much going on work-wise and anyway you may be on for an ironic BFP anyway.

Farfalla I dreamed about your appointment last night! I'm glad it was fruitful and perhaps it was meant to be that you sought advice so soon. Hopefully your next pregnancy (conceived on hols of course) will go very well under their watchful care.

Still no signs of ov yet for me (only cd9) but will hopefully SWI again tonight, then I'll be hoping I don't ovulate while I'm away!

Munkiii · 04/11/2011 09:32

Just popping in, will read back later..... Apologies........

CD35 here no AF but a BFN on an Internet cheapie.

Hope everyone has a good day.

PopcornMouse · 04/11/2011 09:35

Far that sounds like an amazing, very positive result. Like you say, maybe it means the early mcs were for a reason, and in the long run you'll be better prepared to carry a bean to term. Great that you know exactly what needs to be done, now :)

maybe your DH sounds super, fancy having an emergency kitkat chunky to hand - Bear Grylls move aside! :d

bean that's so lovely that you finally realised Mr Bean was The One, it's like a romantic movie :)

Interesting that a couple of you are CD11/12 - good bit of karma there?
Maybe it's like when women living in the same house slowly synchronise their cycles Shock

Cupcakes I have it under good authority DH that B12 can be found in twiglets and marmite, two of his favourite foods.

Imps & Biscuits I sub to good food (my only magazine subscription ever, which is ironic considering I edit the silly things for a living) - I'm liking it for the most part though the xmas edition is a bit roast-based for me. What if you're sponging off relatives rather than cooking for own? Hmm.
What are Delicious and Olive like, Imps? I was a bit put off by Olive's eating out bit as a) we're perpetually skint and b) it seemed very London focussed.
I just tear out whole pages and put them in clear plastic wallets in a ring binder - your system sounds way more organised! :)

OMG stasi are you wonderwoman? I hope DH is helping with that mammoth list! Shock

Really sorry AF caught you, Beedle :(

Well, DH has decided we're not in the right place for DCs just yet . He thinks we "need to get organised" by which he means he wants a new job (or rather, I have nagged him to get one because his hours are pants), we'd like to move house, and the house needs lots of work. And yet he still shagged me this morning so WIBU to not take him entirely seriously? Hmm Men! :o

possiblemaybebaby · 04/11/2011 09:49

Far I am so so pleased you have got answers, and whilst a bit scary, at least you know now that you are going to receive the best possible care throughout your imminent pregnancy. Also glad that you and DH had a good talk. It always helps doesn't it.

Popcorn I think it is very common for men to have a bit of a wobble with the whole TTC thing (see my DH last month Grin ). I think that it has a lot to do with the fact that they think they have to be their to provide all the time, and the thought that they might struggle a bit worries them. Men Wink

And Delicious and Olive are really good, agree that Delicious is more recipe focussed.

Sorry about the BFN Munk, how long are your cycles normally?

Hope you have an amazing time Scrambled, v. jealous!

Generic I'm not to sure I am a domestic goddess, just a bit addicted to being homely!!

Solars · 04/11/2011 10:20

Oh Stasi you have been busy, wishing you a fabulous day tomorrow and do try and pause throughout the day to take it all in - the day goes so quickly! You're going to have a lovely day x

Maybe glad to hear you are feeling much better.

Farfalla that is so super to hear about your appointment and your chat with DH is very encouraging, what with your holiday coming up you are definitely on for that bfp now!

Beedle so sorry to hear about af, hope you're ok.

Imps you are surely on for an ironic bfp now and what a fabulous idea about your notebook. I have a notebook but it's just recipies that I've taken from tv shows or orally from friends and family, I usually tear out recipes and collect them in a folder. Yours is a fab idea as you can hand that down, which would be such a treasure for your kids - love it!

Munkii sorry about bfn, could be still early?

Popcorn when DH & I were starting to ttc many moons ago my DH would come out with things like that too, we sat down and talked about it and a lot of it was due to him being scared and partly that he didn't think he would be a good father, when I told him I felt the same too and that we'd work together to sort things out he seemed fine about the whole thing.

CupcakesAndCocktails · 04/11/2011 10:25

God I don't know where to start! I've had a bit of a lie in as I start nights tonight.

Stasi omg you are a busy bee. All the best for tomorrow, it really is the best day of your life. I wish I could have my wedding day again as it was brilliant. We had so much fun & were never off the dancefloor. Get smacking that rat, honeymoon baby here we come. This is still a very lucky thread, a while ago we had a ridiculous number of BFPs so I think that's why it's been a bit quiet on here lately. We are definitely due another truck load for all of us Grin

Far I'm so glad the appointment was positive overall. However I'm sure you & DH are still a bit shell shocked by it all. Even when you have your suspicions something is wrong it can be suprising to have it confirmed. It's really great that they should be able to help. I assume that they would give you enoxiparin injections which they can teach you to do at home? If that's the case then I just want to reassure you that if you have to do this I'm sure you will get used to it very quickly. Ive worked with a lot of kids that have had to do this and after a week or two they often say its no problem & some of these kids are needlephobic to start with.

Sorry went off on a bit of a tangent there Blush see Far you are proof that people should not have to wait for 3 mmc for investigation. How horrible that there could be treatment available to prevent it and people are not given it. Do these policy makers not understand how distressing this all is.

Right I've rambled on so much I can't remember what everyone said so I'll have to read back'

CupcakesAndCocktails · 04/11/2011 10:40

Beedle really sorry about AF, here's to day 1 of your pregnancy Thanks. Actually you & Maybe can be my cycle buddies now. I'm on day 4 but I ovulate late normally bout day 19 so we will probably be rat smacking around the same time

Munkii sorry about BFN, it sucks doesn't it? Big hugs for you & I've sent a message to AF saying if she shows her face around here again she is dead meat Grin

Hey Generic I've also had a word with your egg and asked her to time ovulation around your trip.

Imps I have a recipe file which is mostly empty I love your notes idea, think I may have to steal it too Smile

Popcorn I agree it sounds like he's worried about providing for you all if he's concerned about his job. Which is not such a bad thing as at least it shows he is committed to doing it all properly. My DH has a few times made some comments like that as we are not in the best financial position. However we talked for years before starting to ttc as honestly I was ready about 4 years ago. I just keep saying it's never going to be a good time. It's promising that he still delivered the goods though Wink

Scrambled have a great day. I'm very Envy

scarletfingernail · 04/11/2011 12:17

Sorry not got time to stop, but just wanted to wish Stasi all the best for tomorrow. I wish I could get married again (to DH of course) I just loved every minute of my wedding day.

farfalla I just skimmed up to find out how you got on yesterday. Fantastic that you have some answers. At least now you know what you're dealing with and have some clear direction on what happens next. BFP next month for you my lovely Smile

Hi everyone else, sorry to hear about all the AFs that have turned up this week. I'm still brooking for each and every one of you.
