Here we go yet again...

It looks like the old thread got full at 1000 messages? It certainly wouldn't let me post another. Hope people find this one.. and that I didn't break etiquette by making it.

DrMunk lets hope those are signs of a nice BFP in the making.

Shiny if I was you I'd test on the Friday, with the foreknowledge that if it was negative I'd test again on the Monday. Or, if it helps with the bargaining, say you won't test again till the Wednesday, when you'd definitely be late. That way if you do 'waste' a test, it will only be one. Fingers crossed for a BFP though, and a much improved weekend!

Well, today didn't go too badly. Got shoes sorted I think, bought a pair of ivory sandals for £11, reduced from £40! Also got the wedding table decorations mostly sorted I think, just one more thing to try on those.

On the cooking front, made a very nice Jamie Oliver dish for dinner tonight, followed by pear and apple crumble with fresh cream. I think our guests enjoyed it, though I'm really tired now. I've got so used to not drinking these days I even missed out on the wine going round so I could give them a lift home. I have also been taking painkillers all day due to cramping, and I don't like to mix them with alcohol.

I put in my Amazon order for a fool-proof BFP plan next month. I bought a more accurate BBT thermometer, 30 preg tests and 30 ov tests, a tube of preseed and a tube of conceive plus... so hopefully this will mean they all go to waste when I get pg immediately on my honeymoon.

Tomorrow morning is my GP appointment, I'm going to ask about getting some tests done, and hoping very much they will order some then and there. It'll be CD2 tomorrow, so I'm hoping they'll be able to do those hormone tests for me.. the 2 and 21 day ones. I know it's only my GP, and that he/she may be useless, but as I have an appointment with the specialist in Jan, I'd like to get as many results as I can before then so they have something to review.

Is there anything else I can ask them to test for?

OP posts:
BeedleTheBard · 24/10/2011 05:31

Morning

Stasi I can't help much with what tests to ask for as I won't be able to have any until we've been trying for a year (not because I'm so young, but because of where I live - not the UK), but I'm sure someone will be along later who can help :)

Well I'm definately into the 2ww, my temps have been a bit weird so I'm not sure if I'm 2dpo or 4dpo, but its time for random symptom spotting [hgrin]

Generic are you now 12dpo? Might you accidently POAS soon? Not that I'm endorsing early testing, I never do that well maybe sometimes.

PopcornMouse · 24/10/2011 09:57

How long have you been ttc Stasi? Sorry if you've already said [hblush] I think iron and thyroid function is a common ask - both can stop you conceiving. I think anemia can actually stop you from ovulating at all but I could be wrong.

Solars I get them some months and not others, so I guess they must vary in strength Hmm

Munk Maybe you're having a super-duper fertile month and the OPKs are jumping for joy :o awaits inevitably bfp

Had a lovely day out yesterday that made my completely forget AF, which is hideously heavy this month, sob. Then had a funny conversation with DH when I suggested going to see fireworks this year "because never go", along the lines of "but you hate fireworks. You hate the noise. They make you cry and then we leave. That's why we never go." "Oh yeah, I'd forgotten...... [hblush] ok, let's not!"

PopcornMouse · 24/10/2011 09:57
CakePigeon · 24/10/2011 10:02

Oh popcorn sorry AF is particularly hideous for you this month. Glad you and DH had a lovely weekend though.

13dpo and a BFN from me this morning Sad

solars sounds like the clomid is really working Smile although sorry it is in a painful way!

popcorn yes, you are a pansy Grin although it isn't nice being scared of things, especially pretty things like fireworks so I feel for you!

possiblemaybebaby · 24/10/2011 10:07

Oh Popcorn you poor thing, on counts of both AF and fireworks Sad

Glad you had a lovely weekend though.

Cake Don't give up hope just yet. How long is your LP normally?

Hope you are getting on with the GP ok Stasi

CakePigeon · 24/10/2011 10:24

Hi maybe hope your cold is better? My lp is normally a standard 14 days so tomorrow i should know for sure. This is our last month ttc though Sad for a while anyway as I have job issues next autumn so can not at all be pregnant then

possiblemaybebaby · 24/10/2011 10:27

Oh Cake you can't leave us. But you won't be, cos this is going to be your month. I am brooking no argument what. so. ever.

My cold is turning into something nasty. It now hurts when I breathe, and was up all night alternating between feeling sick and having the weirdest dreams ever. I think I may have had about 2 hours of broken sleep Sad

musicalmrs · 24/10/2011 10:35

Hurrah, a new thread!

Hi Solars, how're things going?

Hello Maybe! Things are going well thanks, how're they with you? Feeling hungry ALL the time, and tired a lot of the time, but hoping a nice at home (half term, hurrah!) will help solve that!

Popcorn, so sorry to hear about AF - and that she's being particularly awkward this month. She's probably just saying "Goodbye, see you in 9 months" in spectacular fashion! :)

Sorry you're in the crampy club too Dizzy. Didn't have too many yesterday afternoon/evening when out thankfully, just achey. Beginning to wonder if it's something to do with my back, as I've had back problems before... hmm.

shiny, if it were me I'd wait. That's mainly because a) I couldn't afford plentiful pee sticks (in fact, the first ones I peed on were my BFPs - mainly because AF was reliable enough for me in the past!), and b) I hated the thought of seeing a BFN - although luckily I never had to. AF arriving seemed less like getting my hopes up than the process of POAS!

I was a non-drinker during my 2wws, but to be honest I don't really drink anyway, so it wasn't much different from normal. I also cut back on caffeine in the last 2wws - merely because I realised I was drinking a tad more than I possibly should have been!

Wedding reception was ok in the end - apart from no food until near the end, which drove me a tad loopy (having to eat near constantly at the moment!). Stuck in the office today, but looking forward to having the rest of the week at home, eating lots. Bliss!

DrMunkenstein · 24/10/2011 10:40

Morning!

Not a clue what my body is doing. Did a cheapie this morning, negative of course!

I just feel sick at the thought of returning to work in five weeks?!

possiblemaybebaby · 24/10/2011 10:41

Musical that's great news! Glad you are keeping well and eating lots. A week at home will be just the thing you need!

possiblemaybebaby · 24/10/2011 10:41

Hi munk have you tried another ov test?

PopcornMouse · 24/10/2011 10:45

I've been googling "what causes late implantation" but precious little's coming up and I wondered if Bartlet might know? I'm pretty sure thats what happened in Sep and I wonder whether lfestyle changes might help...

Oh maybe that sounds hideous. Have you tried decongestants? DH had whooping cough one year and he found olbas oil in a candle-burner and on tissue under his pillow helped a bit?

Musical I like that theory!!!!! :o :o

possiblemaybebaby · 24/10/2011 10:49

Thanks Popcorn I may give that a go.

What do you mean by late implantation? I have no idea

ScrambledSmegs · 24/10/2011 11:06

Morning everyone. On my phone which is playing up, so can't read back v far. But hope you're all well and blooming.

Temp dipped a bit this morning Sad. Not past crosshair line but enough to make me think it's game over this month. AF is due tomorrow. I'm ok whatever happens, I think. We couldn't SWI much this month due to health problems so I guess it would have been unlikely.

I've managed to collect all of DH's sperm-killing pants up and confiscate them, so this should give us a better chance next month I think! He's in lovely loose boxers now - he hates them but it's for a good cause, I keep reminding him Wink

PopcornMouse · 24/10/2011 11:11

maybe I had what I think was an "implantation dip" 11dpo - which is when your temp dips for a single day when your egg implants - and then my temp stayed high past AF and took ages to come down below baseline again - so I think I probably had an egg that got sperminated but anything that implants after 9dpo is pretty unlikely to survive apparently. I guess I'm wondering if this has happened more than once, and maybe I/DH need to give up caffeine/alcohol/whoknowswhat Hmm Probably clutching at straws though tbh :(

PopcornMouse · 24/10/2011 11:13

scrambled you know what they say!!! Snot over til the fat red lady sings :o

Stasi · 24/10/2011 11:15

Scrambled Hehe, I'm lucky my OH likes boxers.

A few years ago I was out walking with my little brother (he was about 11 at the time), who for no apparent reason turned to me and said "I like boxers, they let everything hang free"... I don't think I will ever forget that day, though I'm nice enough not to remind the now 17 year old brother :)

The point of that story was.. maybe DH will learn to like the freedom of the boxers soon.

Popcorn have you thought about wearing 'ear defenders' like you can get for concerts and things. They have some funky design ones, and it'll stop the noise from the bangs and just leave you watching the pretty sparkles. If it's cold enough to wear a hat/scarf too, then you'll just look like you've got on ear warmers.

OP posts:
CakePigeon · 24/10/2011 11:21

Oh maybe sorry to hear you are feeling so ill. I've had a cold for three weeks now but i think my immune system may finally have kicked in as I feel a bit better today! I hope I am preggo as I will miss you lot otherwise Grin

scrambled I think you, me and generic are all due tomorrow...

Stasi · 24/10/2011 11:25

Sorry to hear so many people are ill, hope you all get better soon.

While we're on the subject of colds though, has anyone here had/getting the flu jab this year? Is it just for pg people, or can you get it if you're ttc?

Anyone get the swine flu jab last year? Are you now also immune to most colds like I seem to be?

OP posts:
possiblemaybebaby · 24/10/2011 11:28

I will be glued to MN tomorrow morning! I am keeping everything crossed for you all.

Stasi only pg women are entitled to flu jab, unless you have another condition which entitles you to it. But I know you can get them in Boots or Tescos, you there is always that option.

I had swine flu, so no need for a vaccine for me, but it certainly hasn't left me immune to colds Grin

My DH loves his boxers too!

Scrambled I am agreeing with Popcorn it most definitely isn't over yet Grin

PopcornMouse · 24/10/2011 11:36

Stasi I had one last year as I had asthma, though I probably won't bother this year as it's been markedly improved (it was all caused by plaster dust about 3 years ago, seems to be on the mend though, it was all very odd). I don't think they give it to you if you're ttc, but you can always get one privately if you're concerned.

I've not had many colds either, now you mention it - but I do work from home so I escape the usual inter-office germage :o

Stasi · 24/10/2011 11:55

I had the swine flu jab three times last year, as I was immuno-compromised, so they had to make sure it worked. I've not had a cold since, and I've heard lots of anecdotal evidence of people for whom it appears to have had the same effect. Something about swine flu being a 'master' flu, with similarities to many other common flu and cold viruses, which means the one immunity seems to be covering them all.

I'm "working" from home today, as the lock on our front door has decided to break. I'm not getting much work done though. Reading lots of conception websites and the like. Wikipedia can be a really distracting site. Has anyone heard of the "up-suck" theory?

I started on this Wikipedia journey from looking up cervix position. I've had no luck at all finding mine, it's meant to be lower and easier to find when not in the fertile window, but I've been totally unable to find anything like what's described. I don't think I have very short fingers, and I think I'm looking in the right place... anyone else have this problem (sorry if TMI)?

OP posts:
PopcornMouse · 24/10/2011 12:02

Hmmmm no my cervix is pretty obviously placed (though I'm told it is "tilted" which might make a difference??). Have you had any trouble finding it when doing a smear? (the nurse, obviously, not you!)
