Another thread for those who are waiting to try for a baby. It doesn't matter how long or short the wait; why you are waiting; or how many DC you have. All are welcome.

Old thread here.

Yep in about a month! According to my estimates I'm ovulating about now. Both of us can't wait. The other day DH came home and said "now I know how you feel, there was a pregnant lady on my train this morning and I couldn't stop thinking about babies ALL DAY"

pinsent · 30/11/2011 08:59

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I haven't written in ages, I have been super busy. However now that it is strike day, i have a little extra unexpected time on my hands. I have been keeping up with reading all the posts however and it is lovely to hear that so many of you are now really close to TTC. Smile

A little update on my situation without boring you all too much. After using OPK's up to CD25, i still never got a positive. So decided to forget about them as i think they were starting to drive me a little potty, plus i'm not even meant to be TTC anyway. However DH is still being pretty rubbish at keeping up his end of the bargain about being responsible for our contraception now that i am not on the pill. In fact on Sunday (CD31) we got down to it Wink and as always DH wasn't very good with his withdrawl method. Then the next day i am sure my CM was different and looked like EW, although this is my first cycle so not 100% sure what i'm looking for. (If anybody doesn't mind explaining it to me i would really appreciate it.) So i therefore enticed to DH to do it again on Monday, just in case. DH did say that he knew what i was up to as we very rarely have sex 2 days in a row and even then he didn't do very well with his "withdrawing", i think he actually wants to start properly TTC but isn't ready to admit it to himself yet.
I'm on CD34 now and no signs of AF or any other symptoms. So i guess it's a case of watch this space! Trying not to think about it or get my hopes up.

Is anyone else out there not planning but not doing very well with preventing either? Does everyone else keep their fingers crossed that AF won't show up even though we know it will? xxx

mrsb23 · 30/11/2011 10:35

pinsent i am glad you mention that as i am slightly hoping concerned about the fact AF is now 4 days late - we have also been using the aforementioned method and despite being adamant we would wait until April I am starting to wonder whether we luckily werent quite careful enough!

mrsb23 · 30/11/2011 10:43

( although actually there was a good reason to wait - buying a house - and we were careful so it seems tres unlikely)

pinsent · 30/11/2011 14:42

Are your cycles normally quite regular Mrsb? I have only been off the pill for 4 weeks and so i think that is why AF hasn't turned up yet unfortunately. Have you not been tempted to POAS? Very impressed with your self-control if not. I'm a strong believer in everything happening for a reason, so i am sure fate will lend a hand and deliver the right result.

LadyBourne · 30/11/2011 16:36

Ha ha pinsent I have time to post for exactly the same reason!

Hello everyone, have just read through all recent posts as haven't been on for a while....is so nice to hear all your news and thoughts. I haven't told anyone that we're going to start TTC in the new year so it's good to chat to like minded ladies.

I finish my last pill packet tomorrow and then going to start charting temperatures to figure out my cycle but well aware that things could be a bit all over the place as my body adjusts after 15 years on the pill!

Daydreams are filled with babies at the moment!

nenehooo · 30/11/2011 17:27

pinsent as an avid reader of MN and TCOYF aka the period bible, I can give you a clue... GEEK! EWCM is clear or creamy coloured and very very stretchy. However ejaculation fluid is similar in consistency to give maximum chance of little swimmers to the egg, so what you saw may be the remnants of what your hubby may have... Ahem... deposited. Fingers cropped for EWCM tho! Wink ladybourne i've been charting and my temps are all over the place. Been inputting them on fertility friend, and had a rise a few days ago so they had a predicted ov date, but since then they've been falling and today it said they could no longer confidently predict my chart... Made me sad!!! Which is ridiculous and I shall give myself a slap! Hope your charting goes smoothly and you have a nice biphasic cycle Grin

pinsent · 30/11/2011 18:17

Thanks nene. My CM was clear and very stretchy. Hoping it is CM and not DH's "fluid". It came the day after we did the deed, i noticed it when i went for a wee late morning, i had been up for at least 5 hours by that point and had at least a couple of wee's before i noticed, but i didn't notice it again in the evening so maybe it was just DH's excess swimmers. Our bodies do like to give us mixed signals. Confused

Just out of curiosity, if you are lucky enough to concieve, how many days/weeks does it take until you get symptoms? Does anyone know? Not sure if i should be asking this question or not as it may turn me into a serial symptom spotter, which will just drive me crazy. However i'm curious.

mrsb23 · 30/11/2011 19:50

Lol pinsent am super tempted but then keep realising im ridiculous because im clearly not pg. came off pill in july but did take a weeks worth in oct to stave off AF for my wedding -however i did have a normal AF after that but this lateness is likely some delayed throwback from my reckless hormone pill abuse! I think im just the biggest wishful thinker paranoid ever!

Buddhagirl · 30/11/2011 22:46

Hello everyone. Excellent news about people TTc soon. Next spring really does seem like the time to uh, shine. Bring on the 2013 babies!

I've had two cycles off hormonal contraceptive now and most recent AF arrived one day later than last month. So i know I have regular cycles :D I clearly, clearly spotted EWCM last month so I'm so much more confident about things. Just got to get married and buy a house now Hmm

One thing MN has taught me is not to chart Confused. The amount of people here and IRL who say that got a BFP when they stopped trying. I think I'l try and hold off for 6-8 months of TTC and if not then start charting. I think if you can have sex 3x a week in the 3 non-messy weeks of the cycle then surely you are going to hit it at some point!?

I'm up to my eyes with wedding plans, but now alot of things are booked I'm realy enjoying it. Getting loads of RSVP's back too, thank god. For a while i was worrying i was planning for 20 close family :/

Awayinamangercooper · 01/12/2011 08:42

Buddhagirl I'm with you on the not charting temps. I did it for 13 months and obsessed a lot. My charts were always spiky and my sleep patterns were disturbed from preemptively waking to temp. Since switching to Persona my cycles have been much more regular, as well as shorter with a longer luteal phase. I don't think it does to sweat the small stuff.

Anyway charting temps doesn't tell you when to DTD, it only tells you when to stop doing it.

redstrawberry · 01/12/2011 20:29

pinsent not sure how many days or weeks but its a 2ww on average to take the test. Thats 2 weeks post ovulation. Symptoms could show up any time...spotting, sore boobs, tiredness, cramps? I had a scare once so had googled them up!

have put the tree up today. have managed to stay off the babycrack stuff for a good few days... happy 1st of december - not long till 2012.

MissPentChristmasBudget · 01/12/2011 20:50

Hi everyone, can I join in? DH and I are waiting as he's been on some medication that needs to be out of his system before TTC. Also my cycle takes a while to settle after coming off the pill. We need to wait another couple of months, so hopefully my period will have returned by then. We already have 21mo DD.

MrsPeggyPatch · 01/12/2011 21:02

Hello All!

Sorry for the radio silence- trying to lessen my babycrack addiction, and unfortunately mumsnet comes feeds it!

Good to hear all your news and so many people on the verge of TTC.

I'm not sure if I technically should be posting in here now, but too scared to join a 'bus', somehow that makes it so scarily real. I've had my last period (finished on Tuesday) and so now we're in the cycle to TTC, and after all the excitement I'm now just scared (well still excited but mostly afraid of the inevitable disappointment for at least the first few months).

Unfortunately just as we reach this vital time, I've lost the bit of paper I had been keeping track of periods and ovulation (done by signs such as CM) for the bas few months...haha my fault for being too ld skool maybe! It may be a good thing as then I won't get too obsessive, hung up on dates and I'm just trying to do it by memory!

I think this will probably be my last post in here, but maybe see some of you ladies on a bus one of these days!

Good luck everyone- thanks for keeping me company the last few months I've been lurking and occasionally posting!

redstrawberry · 01/12/2011 21:18

oooo peggypatch excited for you ....hopefully see you on a bus soon :)

Zara1984 · 02/12/2011 11:14

Going to wave bye-bye to everyone here too ! Next week I will have paid off my student loan (the biggest impediment to our TTC), and as we're so close to last pre-TTC AF we decided to ditch the condoms anyway. So we're officially TTC now although really unlikely anything would happen in this last week before AF - no point any wishful thinking on my part!

Have jumped on a late Aug/early Sept train now... hopefully it's a lucky one!

This is such a great thread! So supportive :)

howiwonder · 02/12/2011 19:47

Hi All

after a bit of lurking, I thought it was about time to say hello. I'm planning on making a start TTC after xmas, already have a 21 month old DS.
have been waiting to get settled in a new job - and make sure I've worked there long enough to get the full maternity pay package (still not 100% sure on that one - kind of tricky to find out without telling everyone my plans!).

Anyway, have cracked open the folic acid and have started thinking about cutting down on alcohol... :)

exciting times!!

LydiaWickham · 02/12/2011 19:59

Bye Zara!

Am on the count down, AF due next week, once that's out of the way, we're TTC. We were giving DS his bath tonight and DH said "this time next month we'll be trying for another one, odd." I told him it was happening sooner than that. He looked a little surprised, but just shrugged and said "whenever you want darling" so that's that sorted...

nenehooo · 03/12/2011 09:02

Bye bye Zara good luck, good luck, we all wish you good luuuuuuuuuuuck!!!
Anyone else charting and driving themselves slightly crazy with it?! FF is now saying I've ov'd again on day 16, but I have very short cycles so AF due around the 9th, meaning a luteal phase of 9 days. I thought I ov'd around day 11, but then had a temp dip so computer said no. I don't know what to think.
On the plus side, temping is helping to wake me up in the morning (bit too excited to do it - sure the novelty will wear off!) and it's all helping me to not get too absorbed in Nativity hell work. Thinking about making a child of your own to look after sure does put teaching other peoples' into perspective, much as I love them Xmas Grin

Awayinamangercooper · 03/12/2011 17:17

Oh my goodness, everyone's leaving to do the January TTC thing!!! Is anyone sticking around to keep me company? Someone needs to feed the gruffalo and keep Jake and George in a job!

Seriously, good luck to everyone setting off on the TTC journey! Hope you all get your BFPs really quickly, and have lovely LOs come the Autumn.

MissPentChristmasBudget and HowIwonder welcome to the thread! The time will fly by. I can't believe it's nearly Christmas after it was only just summer. No doubt spring will creep up on us just as fast.

Peggypatch you shouldn't have to do it from memory, the most certain sign is the wetness and EWCM. Your next cycle might be completely different from the last ones you've had. Good luck!

Zara nice work with the student loan. Mine will soon be paid off (well my professional loan anyway, the student loan can wait!) Thanks for waiting with us, and all the best for TTC!

LydiaWickham (I still love your nname!) oh if only I could train DH to say "whatever you want darling"! Good luck with TTC #2!

nenehoo when is your date for hopefully starting TTC?

News from me is that the new job seems to be going well, and everyone is lovely so far. I qualify for enhanced maternity pay from mid April, and my pay should go up a bit in May. DH and I are hoping to start house hunting around April/May time, as we've almost got the deposit saved up and as we're about to start ttc (sort of sometime maybe) it would be nice to have a bit more securtity and not have to worry that our landlord might decide to turf us out with a month's notice.

Our big trip to the USA is booked for 5 May, so five months from now we could be TTC in Vegas!

Awayinamangercooper · 03/12/2011 17:18

nenehoo I never stopped waking early when I was temping, that's why I stopped in the end. I could never decide whether to temp too early or go back to sleep but then temp after too short a time sleeping. My chart was erratic and I got fed up and overtired!

Angelico · 03/12/2011 17:21

Hello all! Bit disturbed that people are leaving the board! Where do you go to when you actually start TTC? AF due in a few days and then after that - bam! We'll be starting! Do you go to some other thread then?

Bye bye and good luck to the board leavers - maybe see you on wherever else we go after here?!

Awayinamangercooper · 03/12/2011 17:52

Angelico it's partly because a lot of people are trying for a September or later baby to avoid being the youngest in the school year, and a lot of people start trying around Christmas cause it's a family time of year that makes us all broody!

With so many people leaving this thread at the same time, it would probably make sense for one of you to start a "moving on" thread in conception and link to it from here, so that you can move on as a team.

I shall be sticking around keeping the old home fires burning, this is now my third year of waiting.

Awayinamangercooper · 03/12/2011 17:54

Or just join the September bus!

MrsTwinks · 03/12/2011 18:06

I'll keep you company for another month at least Smile I can't afford an autumn baby (already 5 in immediate family!!) so we are aiming for advent lol!

Still a total nightmare trying to get my rubella checked but more determined as we have an outbreak locally at the moment, and "spotty" kids coughing on me at work Angry but the last of the house improvements are done, sil and me are going through what I want her to keep, just the waiting now arghhhh
