Oh dear, now I've scared vjay off too Xmas Sad

All by myself.....

BuddhaBellyXmasBaubles · 29/12/2011 15:17

Sabs my HV said they don't do the 2 year check at 2 as a lot of them fail they do it 2-3 months later. They ask some questions around understanding, speech, how many words they know. They do some perception tests on her wtc. I'm sure she'll be fine Smile

barbiecaughtkissingsanta · 29/12/2011 16:24

Hi girls, im here!
Been a really busy Christmas considering it was just the three of us. I think I have just about peeled dolly off the ceiling after all the chocolate and goodies she has consumed over the past week! Xmas Grin

I'm feeling really blurgh...no idea why, just sicky and tired. Although I'm sure I can contribute the tiredness to a rather cheeky little monkey who keeps getting out of bed! We started rapid return 2 nights ago, it was starting to get a bit of a joke and with only 5 weeks till baby Henry arrives we thought we had better nip it in the bud.

87 bloody times she got out of bed last night. This is when I put her to bed. It took an hour, very time I turned away she was out. Arrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh.

She got out at 12.30am and I nearly just sat in with her but I remained strong and it only took 9 times and she slept through til morning.

Then tonight was dh turn...0 times out of bed.Xmas Envy I was in the bath and he came back in all smug Xmas Angry ba**d!

Sabs, they do a 2 year check here any time from 24 to 28 mnths. They check weight, height and head etc, along with ears, eyes and nose. Co ordination and speech is also given a good going over. S will sail through, she is a clever little girl! The best of luck on the house move and looks of Smile for ttc too!

barbiecaughtkissingsanta · 29/12/2011 16:37

Oh I need to tell you about the lift!

I took dolly to the palm to visit my hairdresser to pay the money I owed as I forgot the money at my appointment Blush
Anyway, I knew it might be a little walk as the parking is rubbish so I let her take dolly and the pram. All was ok until we entered the apartment and got into the lift the go to the 6 floor. These building are huge remember, I think it's 15 floors or something. Any how, the lift stop on the floor and I had hold of dollies hand and exited the lift, as I did the door started to close and trapped my hand which still had hold of d. There was no button on the outside to open the door, nor could I reach it if there had been. She started to try to push her hands through the door so I had to push them back in so they didn't trap them and let her go Xmas Shock
It took a few moments to realise she had gone and then the panick set in. I had no idea which floor she would end up on, whether she would get out. If there were any windows she could fall out off, if someone snatched her and hid her n their apartment or even if she ended up in the basement car park.
I started screaming and hit the alarm button, and got into the other lift with thoughts of heading to ground floor security so they could lock down the apartment block.....only the frigging lift jammed and then took me to floor ten by this time I was hysterical and wailing like one of the mothers you see on the news after her son is killed by a suicide bomber Sad
A guy heard me screaming and came and helped get me back to security where I found a sobbing baby cuddling the security man.
The clever girl had got out of the lift, with her pram and dolly and shouted mummy, mummy until someone realised she was on her own.

I have never felt so relieved in my life, I cried for ages and then couldn't stop laughing hysterically. I think shock had set in Sad

I am now petrified of lifts and will always carry my lo's or push them out first so I least know which floor I left them on.

barbiecaughtkissingsanta · 29/12/2011 16:41

4ever, I have just seen your email....I'm so bad at checking as everyone. Contacts my via fb and our hotmail tends to just deal with banking and other uk based things. Summer is gorgeous, for seem reason I expected her to still be a baby Hmm she looks older then dolly! We have to get the girls together soon!

Monkey, lovely to have you back, I think about you loads as you know. It will be a good year for you, my fingers are crossed.

I hope you all got your Christmas text and I hope I didnt leave anyone out!

Right I'm off to start the second twilight book, back later to catch up more xxx

VJayJazzle · 29/12/2011 17:33

Oh barbie I got really emotional reading about the lift, I've just told dh with tears in my eyes and a wobbly voice. I shall be careful in lifts from now on too.

jinglebellsmum · 30/12/2011 21:24

hello everyone - just a quick update.
Life here has been much more chilled - I was asleep at 7.30pm on Weds but then I did say that this week was mostly going to involve sleep.
However, my next wish is to have a full nights sleep without a child in our bed - BB has been a bit of a pain on the sleep front since we went to Grandmas and DS has been getting a lot of bad dreams, so we've had both in out bed most nights...
However, DS has realised that it is the muppet christmas carol (wtf) that has been scaring him and so, now that, that has gone away the problem as resolved and BB seems to have remembered how to sleep in her own bed, so fingers crossed.

You don't know how Xmas Envy i am of those who had to wake their kids up on Christmas day... At 3.30am, dd1 and ds came in our room very excitedly telling us Merry Christmas and could they see if they had any presents....
Answer - no and then DD1 got into bed with dh and I got into ds;'s bed to try and get him to sleep. Cue one hour of him looking out of the curtains every few minutes saying, it's getting light, dawn is coming. It's morning now... Untill I pleaded with him to go to sleep as it was only 4.30am!! He then did go to sleep untill BB woke at about 7. However, after that, all in the garden was rosy - they loved their presents, especially the robes and wands , so the work was worthwhile.

Christmas at MIL's was better than expected - she was more chilled than the previous weekend - maybe due to the large amounts of sherry she drank - and yes4ever, I did keep it topped up Xmas Grin

Will come back for personals soon - have friends coming over for nye and so need to sort some food and dd1 got a rohald dahl recipe book for christmas that she wants to make food for the kids 8pm feast......I predict my kitchen will be a bit messy tomorrow with butterballs, cholcate fountain, bluebubblers and green crysals. Luckily she isn#'t going for any of the fly ones or hair toffee or the beuautifully described "bucket of soil and engine oil...." Hope you all have a lovely evening tomorrow, what ever you are doing .

And that 2012 brings lots of babies, BFP's and happy days for us all xxxxx

BuddhaBelly · 31/12/2011 14:44

Happy new year Smile

barbiecaughtkissingsanta · 03/01/2012 03:37

I'm resurrecting this thread, all gone a bit quiet of late....I'm sure some of you are still nursing your nye hangovers and poor 4ever is nursing herself. Hope you feel better soon!

Christmas has passed in a whirl of social activities, we have been to so many BBQ, lunches, brunches, animal farms and other things I feel I could do with a week long break, just to relax! We even managed to fit in a swim with the dolphins which was fantastic if a little scary to start with.

Now it's back to reality. The Christmas decs are down, the cleaner is in to clean away the remaining of the festive period, now I have my birthday in 2 weeks to look forward too, the imminent arrival of both new baby and family members and the 2nd birthday of a special little girl...all within the next 6 weeks!

Oh and there is the small matter of supporting my fellow emmsy's into yet another year of friendship, new arrivals, new bfp and more laughs and fun.

Happy new year to you all, here's for a fantastic 2012 xxx

4everhopeful · 03/01/2012 09:12

Happy New Year my lovelies! Grin Here's to a happy healthy yr full of all you could hope for, and filled with magical moments with our beautiful babies, more beautiful babies to be born, and more beautiful bfps! Grin

Christmas was ridiculously busy and non stop, but lovely! Our dinner was a huge success, but my poorly girl didn't have a mouthful, think all the presents were a bit overwhelming too! It was one long round of get togethers for the following wk which was a bit much for Summer, who had a bad tummy resulting in multitudes of horrendous nappies for over a wk, which has been awful, though she's been ok in herself thankfully, however was still quite a worry .. Confused After celebrating my great aunts 90th birthday on Friday it culminated with me also coming down with a terrible tummy too, so spent nye knocked for six in bed all day while Dh looked after Summer downstairs! Such a shame as apart from a meal out with our mums, which had to be cancelled it was meant to be the few days of Dhs 10days of Christmas hols where we could just chill at home, but yesterday was the first day i felt better, and hallelluah thank the lord, that my poor girl has done solid poo again in nearly 10days! So yesterday, like barbie we took down all the Christmas decs and normality has been resumed! Gutted that Dh has had to go back to work today though, and is on lates this wk too! However despite all that, was fantastic and we were very blessed and lucky to be so spoilt, specially Summer, our house now resembles toys r us! She was so funny opening her pressies, ooohing and wowing! Grin

So, will attempt a proper catch up asap, til then, much love and continual thanks to you all! xxxxxx

BuddhaBelly · 03/01/2012 09:36

Happy New Year girlies Smile
4ever So glad you are feeling better, there is nothing worse than upset tummies especially for Summer Sad Where abouts in your cycle are you at the moment? I could do with a cycle buddy! Grin
Barbie Lovely pics on FB, swimming with dolphins who'd want to do that Envy Smile
Sabs Another one for the TTC bench woo hoo! Grin

We had quite a quiet time spent with family mainly, DH and I had to work in between Christmas and New Year, unfortunately my friend died on Boxing Day (although to be honest after visiting her this was such a relief Sad) so work has been quiet but has given us time to reflect on our happy times with her and allowed us all to talk things through so that has helped. We are now thinking of different things to do for fundraising for the local hospice.
I'm on the 2WW so look out for obsessive symptom spotting - feel free to slap me at any point Grin I'm hoping AF will return to normal this week, if it doesn't I will go armed with charts etc and bombard my GP! Grin

cupcakefairy · 03/01/2012 19:25

Ladies! I finally have 10 mins to sit down and write a semi-proper post! Dh is putting ds to bed and I can hear some very un-bedtimey peals of laughter coming from upstairs Grin

So how are you all?? I feel like I've been so absent in the last few weeks sorry Blush so will attempt to remedy that now.

4ever glad you and S are all cleared up, sounded nasty. Ds got so bored of opening pressies too to the extent that he opened his last ones on the 29th Grin but he also 'ooh'ed and 'wow'ed at everything, so cute! He has been hilarious the last few weeks and learning more words every day...was so lovely that he could say everyone's name by the time we came back home. Will hve to keep showing him pics so he remembers them!
Hope you're armed and ready for a 2012 bfp :) and that the next few weeks aren't too :( thinking of what should have been.

barbie that lift story was TERRIFYING! My heart was in my mouth you poor girl. I already hate lifts but have had to get used to them when out shopping now (avoided them at all costs before ds preferring to climb loads of flights of stairs in hotels etc!) but they still make me clench my teeth and pray!
Glad you've had lovely break and EEK to everything happening in next few weeks! Is it definitely Henry then??

buddha so so sorry to hear about your friend how sad :( Amazing that you'll be doing some fundraising I think hospices and the people who work in them are just amazing; I'm in awe!

sabs Fabulous news about the move and about the ttc GrinGrin yay! And at S making you such a proud mummy.

monkey and moon fabulous as always to hear from you ladies and hope you had a happy and restful Christmas. It's a new year and a new start :) And moon You're getting married this year!!!!! GrinGrin YAY!!

lbm so glad things were better than expected at MIL's, and that the kids loved the robes :) your hard work paid off. Everyone loved the ds-decorated wrapping paper we did so thanks Grin

neeko and blue my sister has just given me season 7 of Grey's I'm SO excited. I can't wait to get back into it again!

curly good to hear from you but so sorry you're suffering with he again :( does this mean another girl?? :) will you find out the flavour?

Sorry not to namecheck everyone...but hello to all!

I'm 21 weeks now and have suddenly grown a massive bump over Christmas Hmm loads of the mums at swimming that I don't even normally speak to were congratulating me today, was a bit weird!

4everhopeful · 03/01/2012 20:09

Sorry for just dropping in again quickly, but big waves to cupcake bless you! Yes, I'm having moments where I'm thinking how i could of been due to have another baby in a few wks, but consoling myself with the fact i don't think Summer or I were neccesarily ready.... Can't believe how advanced with talking J is saying names and things?! Summer may be a little lazy with her speech, I'm not sure? She seems to have dropped a lot of the words she picked up? Hmm Duck, bubbles, tap tap, knock knock and various other things would be said repeatedly initially, but now seem forgotten about? However communicating is not a problem as she will take a hand and show or point to what she's trying to get across, and is very vocal albeit non understandable! Sure she thinks she's speaking fluently Grin she also seems to totally understand everything we say, like time to brush teeth and she's already half way upstairs! Wondering if its a girl/boy thing? Her same aged cousin seems to have more words too, but is far less active? I've had to now master nappy changing with her standing up as she just won't stay still for a minute! Oh well, not worrying too much for now!

Actually on too tap Buddhas infinite wisdom on ear infections? Poor Summers been through it, started mid december with the cough, rash and midnight inconsolable episodes which may have been part due to teething, teeth very visible under gums but still not through, cough cleared up but she's been on and off with her food pretty much since thn, my bffs dc kindly gave her the stinkiest cold she's evr had on christmas wk, nose streaming, i think the bad tummy was just beforehand and continued until yesterday... So basically my ddddddddgirl has been through the mill, but her fantastic spirit and temprement has kept her in good stead and she's not been too bad in herself, always smiling bless her bum, anyway, the last few days iv occasionally noticed a really waxy smell around her ears, she's also had her finger in her ear too Hmm however she seems ok in herself? Hmm Im waffling away here, but think ill probably take her to the docs nonetheless ... What's the treatment is it eardrops?

jinglebellsmum · 03/01/2012 21:43

4ever don't worry when the dr tells you that she has burst her eardrum - apparently it happens all the time when they are little Hmm. Tugging at the ear drum is another sign of ear ache.
My older 2 had them all the time - BB hasn't ben affected much so far. Her speech is so funny now - the cutest is "thanks Mummy" when I give her anything . No one else gets a thanks, just me but she did do a thanks to order for her "lallee", which is what she calls her much loved brother. She's copying everything we say and like summer understands everything - was v funny the other day as my dad was reading her a book which says can you stand up and I had to warn him that she would be standing up and would expect a round of applause.
Sorry ladies - I know I owe ooddles of personals but need to go - me and kids are back to work and school tomorrow and I still need to do the pencil cases...

VJayJazzle · 03/01/2012 22:36

Do what to the pencil cases? Grin

4everhopeful · 03/01/2012 23:10

Shock Burst eardrums?! I have obviously been googling, so was enlightened to that horrible sounding fact earlier, but thanks for the heads up! Confused As for the talking issue, obviously not a girl/boy thing then as BB sounds like a young chatterbox too! Oh well, I'm sure once Summers ready there will be no stopping her, my bffs dd only really got going around 2ish, also Summer was really advanced with her crawling/cruising/walking so ill try not to worry til then! Though I can't help wonder if I'm talking enough to her, but I do attempt a running commentary through the day! Also things like is she getting enough peer group interaction? also chastising myself it could be the night time bottle she still has? Confused However my sensible and mood lightening head kicks in too remind me of a funny Michael Mcintyre stand up where he talks of parents worries of developmental milestones such as walking, and how one must gain perspective that you won't get to the point that you have to introduce your young adult Dd or Ds, and that they will crawl through the door ga ga'ing! Grin Of any parenting advice I've seen, that's something that i think is the best! Grin

barbie1 · 04/01/2012 05:19

Just quickly to answer 4ever and her dd...the waxy smell could be contributed to glue ear, this can also have the same effect on speech as you describe. This is easily treated and nothing to worry about. Or it could all be nothing and summer is just to busy concentrating on being super cute than her speech. It will come and once it does you will be wanting a few minutes of peace and quiet Wink
I picked dolly up from nursery yesterday and she screamed across the playground 'I'm on a bike!!!!!!!!' honestly it stopped everyone as she was so loud (wonders who she gets that from Wink) she also checks the other kids nappys by pulling up their tops and looking down their shorts/skirts etc...and then proclaims loudly that that have done a poo!

Cupcake, glad you are back...I know we all keep asking but did you find out the sex of baby? In answer to your question, yep ds will be Henry.

Right off to Starbucks to pick up muffins and then off for a play on the beach for an hour...tis a hard life!

bluesatinsash · 04/01/2012 14:13

Hey All

Back to work today after a marvellous two weeks off with my boys Smile. Just did the Next/M&S returns shift and secured a nice wee £50 gift credit note and two lovely Breton jumpers for the DSs. I am ruthless at returning things and know immediately if I will dress them in stuff. Will hold and buy some nice summer things...

Also on phone to insurance as roof tiles blew off yesterday. It was scary mary in Scotland between 7am and 12pm and DH had gone back to work. I hid in the play room with the boys as my living room is at the back of the house and I honestly felt the french doors were going to fall in Shock(they didn't).

Feeling all fresh and forward focused - Let's go!

4ever - please don't worry about Summer's speech (I also saw the MM sketch - he is genius!). They tend to focus on one of the other and my Isaac was like Summer, walked at 9 months, ran early too but didn't speak properly until he was three! He understood everything though and that is all that matters at this stage. My younger one is exact opposite, terrific vocabulary but still a bit unsure on his feet. Sorry to hear you were floored with the lurgy, its typical that it happens when we have treasured time off with our loved ones. what are your plans for the new year (other than a Spring/summer BFP Smile?

Barbie Henry then Smile? NN Harry or a straight Henry? Prince Harry is a Henry if I remember rightly. Very classic, timeless and goes well with your surname. Shuddered at the lift story. Luckily (Hmm) the lifts I come across are ancient and take forever to open and close but I wil be more vigilent.

Buddha - My condolonces on the loss of your friend Sad.

Are you feeling lucky this month? Symptoms so far? I always felt unbelievaly crabbit and bad tempered before all my BFPs... Warn your DH now Grin

Vjay and Neeko - how are your houses?? It was bin day in my street too so total carnage with bins flying about and goo spilling everywhere. I had my marigolds on picking things up when the wind died down.

LBM - Shock at your schools being back. We're off til Monday! I saw you missed your train this morning - damn and blast!

Sabs - lovely to hear from you and you have a busy and exciting 2012 lined up. Keep us posted x

cupcake - Your having a baby this year! So what are your names then?.. and you MLS has your DH given you his shortlist?

Have we lost QA?

Hope all our other pg ladies are keeping well Smile

BTW 'One Born Every Minute' starts on Wed. Had to Smile at myself as don't think I'll watch it this time. I think that's when you know your baby days are over in the same way as I used to still buy wedding mags for a few months after I got married then switched to House mags then pregnancy mags. I'm now onto Home and Garden mags and 2012 is my 'mood board' year as we're decorating our living room, moving Isaac to bigger room, moving Benjamin to bigger room, decorating our room and guest room is being turned into study. No holiday abroad for us this year Grin

TTFN x
