I started charting my bbt this cycle, but still don't understand much of it. I had a temperature dip the last 2 days, what does that mean? I'm on CD9

GTR2882 · 25/09/2011 17:21

Hi tinkerbell I would not read too much into the dips at this stage - with temping you are looking for the overall picture and a pattern!! BBT can only tell you when ov has happened! How long are your cycles? There is usually a dip the day you ov followed by a succession of rises! In the 2ww a dip might indicate implantation but on CD9 it probably doesn't mean anything!! Temps will fluctuate throughout the cycle and like I said it's the overall picture that's important!! HTH :)

louloubellamozzarella · 25/09/2011 18:35

Right, I'm bloody buying a thermometer, there seems to be something in this monitoring :) At least I might have a bit more info on when I'm oving as I was a week out this time.

Let us know how you get on tomorrow GTR.

louloubellamozzarella · 25/09/2011 18:38

Oh, forgot to ask... does anyone know what I would class as the first day of my period if I was spotting for a couple of days then came on? I started spotting on Thursday but only really came on yesterday on what I would class as anything heavy enough to be a period. But really I guess I started bleeding (very lightly) from Thurs. Help!! Need to get my completely probably incorrect and misleading but what the hell dates sorted for this month's SWI!! Grin

GTR2882 · 25/09/2011 18:43

LouLou you count from the day you have real flow and need to wear pads/tampons - when I spotted last cycle I counted from the Saturday even though I had been spotting since the Wednesday! Even if it's light, if there is enough to cover a pad/tampon then that's technically CD1!!

louloubellamozzarella · 25/09/2011 18:51

Ok, yesterday then, thanks!

GTR you are fast becoming the TTC guru Grin

blonderedhead · 25/09/2011 19:44

Thanks so much GTR, crikey there's a lot of stuff I don't know.

Notinmykitchen · 25/09/2011 20:34

Seems there are a few of us trying this charting lark. I am not doing very well so far, I've tried 3 mornings. The 1st one I got up and went into the bathroom to do it, GTR put me straight that you need to do it before getting out of bed. The second morning DH came home from a night shift at 7 and I'd left the key in the door, so I had to get up to let him in. I did consider leaving him there while I took my temp, but it seemed a bit cruel. Today DS woke up crying at 5.30am, so I had to get up to put him back to bed, again before taking my temp. Therefore so far I have managed to do it properly a grand total of no times. Oh well, hopefully I will get better at it!

blonderedhead · 25/09/2011 23:35

Me: tap, tap, click mouse...
DH: What are you up to, dear wife?
Me: oh, I just got a Fertility Friend.
DH: That's nice, dear, good to have a friend who knows about this stuff.
Me: Er, yes... Night, DH...

GTR2882 · 26/09/2011 07:36

blonde ha ha ha ha!!!!! You really have made what was turning into a bad morning so much better!! Classic Grin

kitchen if i may also add that you need to take your temps at, or as close to, the same time every morning!! I know, it's a bit of a hassle this charting business, but it will be worth it in the end :)

Well, 13dpo and really thought after yesterday that I would be letting you all know about the shiny bfp i got, unfortunately that's not the case - BFN this morning and a massive temp drop so I think i am definitely out and just waiting for the hag to arrive!! Still feel rubbish though but have cramps so I think it's just a matter of time. Not really sure when she is due to show her ugly hag whore face but by the feel of things, very soon!! :(

Oh well, onto next cycle :)

Notinmykitchen · 26/09/2011 08:25

Oh no, sorry to hear that GTR, was also convinced we'd be hearing about your BFP imminently!

I have no hope at all on doing my temp at the same time every day unfortunately due to working shifts. I am just going to give it a go for a couple of months and see if I end up with a chart that looks something like it should. I am hoping if I do it at the end of each sleep, whatever time of day that is, it might still work. Doesn't make it easy though!

GTR2882 · 26/09/2011 08:37

I think if you google temping and working shifts kitchen then you can find some advice about what to do - it is still possible :)

louloubellamozzarella · 26/09/2011 09:18

Aw GTR still holding out hope for you - it's not over till it's over! Sending postive vibes your way. Although if you're coming over to the July bus that means we get to keep our very own FF (fertility friend) for one more (yes just one more till we get our BFPs) Grin

Day #3 of AF for me. Hope it goes away soon so I can get on with operation duffup ASAPs.

louloubellamozzarella · 26/09/2011 09:18

Meant to say one more *month wrt para 1!!

GTR2882 · 26/09/2011 09:26

Thanks LouLou still feeling dizzy and nauseous so am thinking maybe the test might have been faulty because there was a water mark at one end that did not disappear even half an hour after!! Although don't want to lift myself for a massive disappointment later!!

Don't you worry - even if it was a shiny bfp, I would def still hang around to see how you all faired :)

louloubellamozzarella · 26/09/2011 10:11

And duh I think I was thinking I was posting on the June bus there, I did of course mean staying on this lovely July aircraft :) You would still be in the July game even if BFN this month right?

God, I need to sort out my attention deficit problem. TTC-ing is really detracting my attention from work at the moment, just don't care and keep forgetting little things. Need to up my ideas!!

GTR2882 · 26/09/2011 10:19

I am glad that i am not on my own, because i think i spend more time trawling the internet for advice/help/signs that i am not going mad then i do actually spend working!! It doesn't help that I am not feeling the best either and i keep getting this pinching sensation in my left lower abdomen that is starting to get on my nerves now!!

I am not sure I would - think I would move straight to September (wouldn't even make the August bus) because my cycles are so long! If i was successful this cycle my due date would be 5th June 2012 but if AF gets me then technically my next AF would not be due until December :(

It's official - i hate my body!!! Angry

louloubellamozzarella · 26/09/2011 10:24

Ahh bummer. It's not impossible for your cycles to change though, right? Were you on the pill before - how long is it since you came off it (I can remember discussing this before but can't remember the details, so sorry if this is terribly repetitious - see, awful memory!!)? My cycles seem to be getting shorter and shorter (last on 26 days). I always remember my cycles pre-pill being quite long (35 days minimum), so it can change when your hormones settle down.

GTR2882 · 26/09/2011 10:48

I was on the pill for 4 years and came off June 2010 so my cycles should be regulated now. I did not have AF until March/April and what i would call a proper one until May this year!!! Then I had one in June, missed July, had one in August and have missed Septembers, so i can only assume that i have long cycles and that the May and June AFs were just my body getting back to normal!! I did go to my dr when i had not had af for a while and she said it was normal for AF not to show for a while because of all the hormones. Might go back if i don't get pg this cycle and see what's actually going on! I either have long cycles or there is something going wrong :(

louloubellamozzarella · 26/09/2011 10:57

Aha... I've heard good things about acupuncture to help with regulating cycles - maybe worth a look? I think I'll book myself in for a consultation if we're not successful this month as my cycles seem very unsettled still; going from long to short and I don't have a clue when I'm oving really (also thinking about going for another problem so 'killing two birds' and all that).

GTR2882 · 26/09/2011 11:00

Sounds like a plan!! I am willing to try anything at this stage!! Like you said before, it's not over just yet, so might POAS when i get in (am thinking of going out at lunch and get some more, not entirely sure i trust those internet cheapies - i either get a line and get excited or get nothing at all!!)

louloubellamozzarella · 26/09/2011 11:06

Definitely, let us know how you get on

iloveberries · 26/09/2011 13:08

hi ladies - sorry to dip and and dive out. Was away for the weekend relaxing (and drinking wine which i know i probably shouldn't do if i am being really dedicated!)

Tinkerbell - so sorry for your loss. hope you get good news soon.

verycherry - glad the post made you laugh! These blokes are silly aren't they. I promised DH i would relax about TTC this month but it is harder than it sounds isn't it....

I was thinking about getting a CBFM but realised you have to start them on day one and that day has gone for this month.... So i am going to attempt the SMEG plan.... i NEED A PLAN!!!!

GTR - you know a LOT about CM! haha!! thanks for all the tips!

LouLou - hope you have some luck soon!

Looking out for BFPs.... good luck!

elesbells · 26/09/2011 13:54

Ttc for well over a year now...tests showed I have an underactive thyroid. I've been put on medication - all other tests results were fine. I'm ovulating and scans shows everything is working. Gp thought once my thyroid levels balance out we would get the bfp we've been waiting for.

well....we went to see the gp this morning for my dp's sperm test and turns out he has a very low count...we are gutted for want of a word.

The gp has said because I'm 42 I do not qualify for fertility treatment but my dp is a lot younger (with no children) he would qualify..I'm now confused by this. Surely I have to be involved in his treatment and once they find out my age will they refuse us treatment? I have 3 dc's.

Can anyone help??

GTR2882 · 27/09/2011 06:56

Well I don't know what to think now - temps back up this morning but still BFN!!! AF due any day from tomorrow (according to FF) to 9th October (when I was actually expecting it) although with ov occurring when it did I seriously doubt I have a 4 week LP :) so am going on the basis that AF should be here tomorrow!! Haven't checked CM/CP yet!! Really don't trust those one step pg tests anymore! So def popping to Boots on way to work to get some proper ones!! Fx :)

How is everyone else getting on??

Elesbells sorry I can't offer any words of advice - I am not really sure what would happen here, but surely if one qualifies then you both do...right?!?
