Mornin' all - I'm soooo happy it's Friday - it's been a crappy week work-wise and I need a break Wine

Hi mama glad to see you're still here, hope you get internet back soon and then you can put the moving behind you and get your pilot's hat back on and back to some serious TTC :)

Maisie it was an ebay purchase, not planned - just did a search last night and saw it had five mins left so waited till the last 10 secs and grabbed it [hgrin] Was a bit dubious about getting it second hand but it's only been used a couple of times and of course you buy the sticks new so thought i'd be ok. Cheapest monitor + 20 sticks bundle I've seen has been £85 so saved a bit of ££ there. There are quite a lot up on ebay, worth a look. Will let you know how I get on!

Nearly that'd be good as won't have a clue what I need to do! Do you know what day you start using it and how often you POAS? instructions I def get where you're coming from re doing your head in - I think it's doing my head in more though not having a clue at what point things are happening in my cycle so it should hopefully give me some peace of mind :)

Notinmykitchen · 21/10/2011 11:45

Good morning all. Sorry to be so ignorant but is someone able to tell me what these CBFM's actually do? I'd never heard of them before coming on here, and I've just realised I keep seeing them mentioned but I haven't the faintest idea how they work!

MrsSharp · 21/10/2011 11:58

Hello! Thanks for the welcome!

nearlymumofone - yes this is our first month of trying. We've been holding back on trying for various reasons for months now, so now that we can get on board, I'm already feeling quite impatient. Which does not bode well for when af inevitably turns up next weekend!

I've been lurking on this thread all through this cycle, but was feeling so optimistic that it would happen quick, that I thought I shouldn't join the thread. Then I got real!

When ttc no 1, the first month we had sex loads with no joy. The second month we hardly did it all, was convinced I wasn't pg. I had cramping so was sure af was going to show and I went out on my friend's hen party - got v drunk and did a LOT of handstands! A few days later I got my BFP! Blush

You just never know!!!!

MrsSharp · 21/10/2011 12:10

notinmykitchen - think it stands for clearblue fertility monitor, but that's as much as I think I know! I'd like to know what it does too!

oggy24 · 21/10/2011 12:21

notinmykitchen Basically, the CBFM is a little device that 'learns' your cycle. You turn it on each day and it tells you whether it wants you to POAOS (special ones for the CBFM). CBFM is pretty special in that it not only tests for the LH surge to tell you that you will are imminently ovulating, but it also detects another hormone that surges just before this one. Because of this, you get a good 5 day or so window of 'high' fertility readings followed by your 'peak' reading.

It's ideal for those of us who can't just rely on it being convenient for that one specific day! Also, I have rubbishy cycles so I'm hoping it will help me get to the bottom of it all!

Hope that helps.

nearlymumofone · 21/10/2011 12:28

MrsS I love that you did lots of handstands!!! Do you think that helped? Smile I got pg 6th month of trying, it was the month I'd been told by gp I was unlikely to get Pg due to haemmoraging cyst, we only dtd twice that month. Who knows how it all works?!!!

notinmy yes, it is clearblue fertility monitor. I don't know loads about it but have spent £85 on one and sticks to use with it. When I get it (hopefully tmr) and read up instructions etc I'll tell you more. I'll also let you know if it's any good.

need yes CBFM will send me dollally- it's another string to my obsessive ttc bow! I am a loon that should not ever possess one. I already know it's probably not a good idea, but can't stop myself!!

festiemum · 21/10/2011 12:29

Morning (oh, afternoon already?) all!

Hi Mama Good to see you back at the helm, though you must be going nuts with no internet access!

Good for all of you buying CMFMs - I must admit, I did have a crafty look at them on ebay yesterday, but decided to go for a new thermometer instead, as I'm not sure my old one was working properly - got a lot of flat temps last month.

Having removed the frankly daft ov day that ff came up with, it almost certainly looks like I had an anovulatory cycle. That would explain AF showing up early, and the contents of my mooncup being, well, a bit weird.

Since I had the chemical, I haven't had a 'normal' period. The first one was the chemical itself, which was heavy, painful and clotty as you'd expect. Then last month's with was SUPER SUPER heavy to a Shock degree. Then this month, which is a normal amount, but a darker colour and mixed with what looks like loads of ewcm Confused. I'm guessing my body is readjusting after the chemical, but it was all so early, I'm really surprised it's messed it all up to this degree.

I am keeping my FX that this month things will get back to normal!! But then, what is 'normal' anyway?!! :o

Hope you're all having a good day! Hi Princess, Hi MrsSharp!

nearlymumofone · 21/10/2011 12:32

Yes festie, I had a chemical while ttc#1, and mine went similar pattern to yours, fell pg 3 or 4 cycles later though. They were up the wall (not literally!!) for a couple of months before settled down, then bingo. Let's hope same for you x

festiemum · 21/10/2011 12:36

Ha ha! MrsS - I reckon it's the drunken handstands that did it! :o

GTR - meant to say - I too am trying to lose weight at the moment. I was using myfitnesspal Which allows you to calorie count really easily, but now I'm reading 'I can make you thin' by Paul McKenna - which, although has the worst title in the world; is very interesting, and is all about retraining your psychological link with food. As a life long yo-yo dieter, I'm hoping this might sort me out! And losing any weight (if you're overweight to start with, obviously) is supposed to increase your fertility apparently!! :o

festiemum · 21/10/2011 12:37

Really nearly? That's very interesting; thanks for that! x :)

nearlymumofone · 21/10/2011 12:47

festie yes. here's fx for your BFP soon x

Notinmykitchen · 21/10/2011 13:15

Thanks MrsS, Oggy, and nearly for shedding some light on that. They sound really clever! I will watch with interest to see how everyone gets on with them!

Festie, hope your cycle sorts itself soon, I have heard you are more fertile after any kind of pregnancy due to increased blood flow so maybe it will happen soon!

Really got my hopes up this month, timing of SWI was about the best we've ever managed. If it doesn't work this month I don't know what else I can do. Also been charting and it seems to have confirmed I ovulated, despite the doctors hormone tests suggesting I might not be (thanks for the advice re that earlier in the month GTR!). I wish I could fast forward a few days, the waiting is killing me! :)

needinstructions · 21/10/2011 13:32

Notinmykitchen, that's what I find so hard about TTC - that once you've done EVERYTHING you can to make sure you don't miss your fertile window, whether it be through CBFM, ov sticks or just by SWIing every day (my preferred option Grin), there's still no guarantee of that BFP.

As DH would happily confirm, I'm a bit of a control freak, so feeling that there actually might not be anything else I can do is really tough. And I'm guessing that's true of anyone that's gone to the trouble of finding an internet forum to share all the gory details and get clued up to the nth degree?!

nearlymumofone · 21/10/2011 13:45

yes need another control freak here!!

GTR2882 · 21/10/2011 14:00

I am definitely in the control freak bracket!! I need to know exactly what is going on!! My body, on the other hand, has other ideas, and is happy to not give me any clue at all! For instance, after having almost 2 weeks of thick, snot like, creamy CM i now have hardly any!! WTF is up with that!?!?!?!

Hello to all the new passengers I hope you enjoy this flight

I too am interested in how the CBFM works so will be keeping a beady eye on all info relating to this!!

cherrypiew3 · 21/10/2011 14:38

Afternoon Everyone

GTR thanks for the help with what i need to look out for its going to be difficult getting the SWI in due to dh working nights but i am going to try my best.

Is there any of you that are not temping or anything and just going with the SWI EOD method.

MrsSharp · 21/10/2011 15:03

It's only our first month ttc and we SWI'd EOD over about 10 days. My ds still wakes up in the night etc so don't think I'd be able to do temps as I often don't get a full night sleep. Maybe ov sticks next month? Also think I might get pre-seed or similar for next month.

Deafworm · 21/10/2011 15:13

Sneaking on at the back but I brought chocolate! After a few months of not ttc but not using contraception dh and I have finally admitted we are ttc no 4!

Deafworm · 21/10/2011 15:18

Festiemum I cAn make you thin works. I've done all sorts of diet clubs and everything he says fits my experiences, I've only ever ended up gaining weight. Even when behaving and doing my best I've found myself hitting a particular stone I can't get into, Im not only into it but halfway through it now! I find I can forget sometimes and lose track but even then I haven't regained the weight which is what I always do with slimming plans. In the last 4 weeks I spent up till Monday not thinking about it and have made a really conscious effort since this Monday, even though that's included cake, crisps, pie and chips and other things too but have lost 3lb.since January I have gone from a 24/26 to a 16/18!

GTR2882 · 21/10/2011 15:46

Welcome deaf and well done on the weightloss!! I hope to be joining you very soon in your achievement [hgrin]

Hope that this flight sees you safely to BFPland!!!

Deafworm · 21/10/2011 15:49

Thanks gtr, I have my fingers crossed but not my hopes up!

needinstructions · 21/10/2011 16:03

My DS has just started waking in the night again too. Last night I got about 3 hours sleep so temping would definitely not work! On the other hand, I'm beginning to wonder if I could really cope with another LO - or even the pregnancy - at this stage anyway. Maybe that can be my silver lining if I get BFN/AF next week...

(Still really wanting to tell work where to stick their job though Wink)

nearlymumofone · 21/10/2011 16:58

OK. I need a few virtual slaps. Please line up and oblige.

So took ds swimming earlier- and as was getting changed noticed my vest was wet by my nipples. Even though wearing padded bra. I haven't had this since i was breast feeding (over 8 months ago), so am now convinced I'm pg. IT'S NOT EVEN A PG RELATED SYMPTOM!!! Please slap me adn tell me to wise up!!!!

(remember i was convinced I haven't even ov'd this month!!!!)

nearlymumofone · 21/10/2011 17:35

...based on previous post, I was just checking through my mail and opened 15 pg tests I'd ordered. I thought 'must be fate' (even though I'd ordered them myself!!). So just poas and... BFN!!!!!!!! Nothing, not even the merest hint of a line. I'm gonna get through those 15, sorry, 14 sticks in no time! I'm cd 22 today of a typically 25-27 cycle, so it would've shown up if I was pg wouldn't it? Don't indulge my fantasies, i am enough of a loon as it is!!!!!

festiemum · 21/10/2011 19:28

Hey welcome Deafworm! Well done on that weight loss! I think it looks really doable - having been a yo-yo dieter since my early 20's and moving between 4 sizes, this is the first thing that looks like it could work forever. And it explains why some people seem to effortlessly not be overweight, iyswim!

Oh nearly I don't want to slap you - it's exactly the kind of thing I would do! It wouldn't have necessarily shown up, but you really are going to have to wait and see I'm afraid (and as another self-confessed member of the control freak brigade, I know how hard that is!)

Hope you are all set to have lovely weekends. I'm just waiting for the hag to bugger off so we can start using up DH's prescription! Wink :o
