Right i decided to have a few drinks last night to cheer myself up - i had 3/4 small glasses of wine, i was not even tipsy and slept really well (apart from feeling sick and very hot around midnight). This morning my temp has soared to a crazy 36.65 (it has never been this high, even when i have previously had a lot more to drink in the past) but I am worried that drinking last night has had an affect on this!! Does anyone know how much can realistically be drank to have an affect on BBT?

My cm is also white/creamy and my cervix still feels a little open and soft. I am very confuddled! AF due on Sunday, if she actually bothers to make an appearance.

no idea about the official line on drinking and temps but i have noticed a shift before after just a couple of glasses so it could be that?

if it's at all possible I would try not to overthink it?? Is that possible?! You have done all the shagging possible around ov time and now you need to just relax and enjoy life.....

Oh i know - i am trying not to think about the sad news, but for some reason it has really had an affect on me this morning - was so shocked when I heard it on the radio on my way to work! I knew he was sick, but I thought he was fighting it!! The world has truly lost an inspirational and intelligant man who has made a difference to so many people!! :(

On a lighter note, you are right; i will see what happens in the morning - the problem i am having is that i am not so sure that i have ov'd because my temps are all over the place. I have even taken to over-riding FF to put ov day as CD50 as it does not seem to want to identify ov depsite having two positive OPKs!!

Didn't manage SWI last night - absolutely shattered so gave self night off - although still strictly on the EOD method as we DTD the day before. Definitely getting back to business tonight and might have to do it tomorrow morning as well before I'm away for the weekend!

Don't think I've ovd yet though - no EWCM - still watery and no ov twinges like I've noticed the past couple of months. really hope it doesn't happen tomorrow day time as I'm not back till Sunday which will be next shot at SWI.

Oh and yes, so sad about Steve Jobs. Most of us will never come close to changing the way people encounter and enjoy the world as he did. Definitely a day to shake off our worries and just enjoy life without dwelling on things we can't change.

Hi loulou apparently you are advised to try and lay horizontal for 30mins after sex to give it the best shot. Hence why we go to bed at about 9pm!! but who knows if this is true or not! I am sure people have got knocked up from shagging hammered after 10 fags standing up in a dark alley..... I think you are right to have a drinky - at the end of the day, like you said, there are loads of people out there that get very drunk and it has not affect on their fertility and they end up being pg, sometimes not even knowing until they have missed a period or 2. Life is too short!!!

I work in communications for a civil service organisation, not wanting to idenfify myself and my rather negative comments too much . So I basically write stuff, edit stuff, plan communications and advise people on how to write.

I do like my job and am not usually this apathetic! I think I'm just having one of those weeks and also my mind is on TTC and retraining (I'm currently doing a course which will hopefully get myself on my way to working for myself )

Let us know how you get on with the monitor berries. I think it might be worth the investment if they are good as I'd like to have a better idea of when I'm ovving.

Thanks for the info re the luteal phase, sounds like this might be a problem but I guess it all depends on when ov occurs which is the tricky bit. Just going back to the EWCM again (as we do so love to obsess about it!) is it also normal to get it after ov?

According to the ov calendar on here I should be SWI'ing in earnest from 23rd Oct which is just so far away (darn those long cycles!!), however, I see most people don't have much faith in these calendars so think I will follow the trend and go with the EOD plan and then ED when it looks like the fertile period has arrived!

Another question I'm afraid, a couple of people have mentioned a 'chemical pregnancy' - what is this? I don't want to be insensitive by asking but haven't come across this term before?

Hi Maisie I had a chemical pregnancy just there. I had never heard of them before. Basically period was late, so I did a test, it was a faint positive, so 2 days later I did another expecting a definate positive, but got a negative. Not 100% sure on this, but think the egg is fertilised, then travels down the fallopian tube, giving you a surge of hormones that can produce a positive, but then fails to implant giving you a negative, and period.

I feel now it's another thing to worry about, sorry am on a bit of a downer about it. Feel like I want to leave it until I'm weeks late even before I test, but know I wont have the patience to do that anyway!

Maisie you can get EWCM throughout - i get it after ov but it's not as clear and thin as it is around ov.... you have to get so delightfully acquainted with body slime

Hey everyone. On the alcohol thing, I don't even bother taking my temp the day after I've drunk alcohol as the reading is always way off my base temperature. Even a small sends my temp spiking.
