Mama5 - GL with the packing!! I hate moving house!!! Dont over do it though for SWI later Wink

iloveberries · 05/10/2011 10:30

hey all - GTR sorry i missed your post.... i hope you're feeling ok. it must be f'ing annoying having such long cycles. Could you stretch to a fertility monitor? Might be easier for you?

After a very helpful conversation with the clearblue lady (they know their stuff if you need advice!) I have taken the plunge and purchased a monitor and some sticks. (£75 for both from ebay brand new on buy it now with recorded delivery). I know it's a lot but in the scheme of having kids it's a drop in the bloody ocean!!! You can get them cheaper 2nd hand if you bid but I'm not good at all that stuff...

iloveberries · 05/10/2011 10:32

correction....(apparently i can't add up!) £67 for both brand new with recorded delivery....

Bluetinkerbell · 05/10/2011 12:49

iloveberries yeah I love cuddles with my DD

still waiting for signs of ov... nothing yet, will be in for a long cycle again I think. ah well in the mean time we can always practice...hope I won't be too tired for some swi-ing tonight

DeeLite · 05/10/2011 14:16

Hello everyone; I fell off the June bus last week and really hoping we're all staying for the longhaul as you seem like a great bunch. I've been hooting with laughter at lots of stuff in this but especially blonderedhead's comment about stroking babygros in Mothercare Grin. That really made me laugh as I've also got the Babymad thermometer and feel rather ashamed of it.

Meanwhile, I'm on my third cycle TTC now and already getting despondent as we've timed SWI really well and been really diligent with daily SWI for 7 days leading right up to the temp shift. I used to have long cycles but they've now gone to 28 days after having my DS. You'd think that was good but I'm still ovulating on Day 18/19 which means I have a short luteal phase. I've bought Vitamin B6 which is supposed to elongate the luteal phase but I'm nervous about taking it as there are some question marks over side-effects. Anyone here tried it?

Anyway, I've added myself to the stats:

GTR2882 · 05/10/2011 14:27

Hi Dee and welcome. I have horrendously long cycles and I think I too might have a short LP so was thinking of taking B6 - did not know about the side affects though, what are they??

Katiekatiekatekate · 05/10/2011 14:29

Hi ladies, can someone chuck a jumper on a seat for me please? Still hanging onto the June bus but 3 days late and 2 BFNs so really just waiting for the inevitable before I jump off it. See you soon!

blonderedhead · 05/10/2011 15:43

Hello Dee, glad I'm not the only one. Welcome aboard flight BFP0712...

Hello to Kkkkk too, consider seat jumpered - although hope you won't need it. Keep us updated!

louloubellamozzarella · 05/10/2011 16:08

Welcome newbies, hope to hear all about you CM and baby obsessions plans soon Grin

Crew will soon be passing through the cabin with a selection of complimentary drinks and snacks. Please take this opportunity to neck a few G&Ts enjoy a refresing beverage while we continue the flight.

In RL, I, for one, will be enjoying a midweek glass of vino before continuing the SWI tonight :)

festiemum · 05/10/2011 16:47

Wine all round tonight then Loulou!

Welcome Dee and Kkkk - I've got the Babymad thermometer too, Dee and when DH saw it, his precise words were "Babymad?!! What the fuck is that?!!!"

I'm just debating how to time SWI over the next week. We have 2 1/2 LBPs left, so that's 5 goes. Now I should ovulate over the weekend if the last three cycles are anything to go by. But today I have watery CM and my cervix has disappeared. So, do we SWI tonight through to Sunday? Or do EOD with a couple extra over the weekend and one on Monday/Tues just to be sure?!

Hmm, not sure really! Confused

GTR2882 · 05/10/2011 16:50

Here here LouLou I too am indulging - it's been far too long and just feel a bit bluergh after all the negativity recently!! Just one or two mind, don't want to upset those temps too much in the morning!!

Have had a word with my ovaries, they have apologised and promised to start playing fair, so watch this space!! :)

GTR2882 · 05/10/2011 16:52

festie I reckon EOD until the holy grail appears and then ED!! spermies can survive for up to 5 days in fertile environments so that should cover all bases!! We wouldn't want you to run out of steam just when you need it Wink

rubia · 05/10/2011 18:47

AH yes sorry, will try again

Rubia (37) TTC #2, cycle 2 AF due Oct 30

DeeLite · 05/10/2011 20:13

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies.

GTR2882, I'm sorry to hear that you might have a short LP too. That is definitely not fair when you have such a long cycle. From what I read, B6 is very effective but there's a suggestion that doses of more than 100mg of B6 per day may be linked to birth defects involving the baby's arms, legs and nerve development. The RDA is only something like 10mg for pregnant folk. The tablets I bought are 50mg but my husband forbids me from taking them until I speak to the doctor. I'm going to try to get an appointment this week and will let you know what he says.

PS, what does EOD stand for?

GTR2882 · 05/10/2011 21:24

Right, well with the problems I currently have I don't think B6 is the way forward for me just yet! Have a Drs appointment on Tuesday so wait and see what they say about my cycles!! Something is not right, I tell ye!!

floralflora · 05/10/2011 21:38

Hello all. I am also having a nice glass of red Wine tonight Grin. Chin chin!!

Ov stick was positive yesterday and got cramping tonight so I reckon I'm on course. Is there any consensus on what exactly ov cramping means? Is tonight's SWI The Critical One? Guess I'd better jump on DH tomorrow too Grin.

GTR2882 · 05/10/2011 21:47

To be honest floral I think all SWIs are critical at ov but as I said before sperm can survive up to 5 days so even EOD will be enough! I think covering ov day and the day after is important (apparently ov day for a boy but not sure how true that is!!) I have seen some pg charts with EOD and some ov charts with ED so whatever you are comfortable and relaxed with :)

Maisie55 · 05/10/2011 22:09

Hi everyone, any room for another? Have been lurking for a few days and have found this thread really encouraging so thought I'd be brave and join in for once! I am now on the third cycle of TTC #2, my stats;

Maisie55 (32) TTC#2 cycle 3 AF due 11 November

I also seem to have really long cycles since stopping breastfeeding DS, they've been getting longer each time, last one was 39 days so I'm interested to see others with long cycle issues as well! I might be a bit slow on this one but what is the problem with having a short luteal phase? I think I may ov quite late in my cycle and also have a short LP.

The CM chat is excellent! the things we have to do! on that subject though, is it normal to get EWCM for a number of days? eg 4 or 5 days? how do you know when ov occurs in this instance?

Looking forward to keeping up with everyone's progress!

floralflora · 05/10/2011 22:11

Oh my goodness, another boy??!!! Confused

Thank you GTR for your wise advice Smile.

GTR2882 · 05/10/2011 22:21

Maisie welcome!! I have a 57 day cycle so know how you feel!! The problem with a short LP (anything really 10 days or less) is that implantation normally takes place anywhere between 6 & 12 DPO (with the norm being around 7dpo) so a short LP means that although conception may take place, the bean does not have enough time to properly implant into the uterus and will inevitably end in a chemical pg!! I think it has something to do with progesterone and the fact that not enough is produced in a short LP to sustain the pregnancy!

Other wiser ladies please correct and educate me if this is wrong :)

iloveberries · 06/10/2011 08:32

Hi Maisie and welcome! How old is your DS? I think you can get EWCM for a few days but apparently ov day is when it's thinnest, clearest and stretchiest.

GTR I have also heard that sex on ov day will give you a boy (something about the speed sperm travel) but that's only if you abstain for a few days before....

noticed some EWCM last night and stomach cramping last night and today i have more cramping (CD16 today) so hopfully this is a good sign... gotta get in as much SWI as possible before i head off on the hen weekend.... knowing my luck i'll spend all week shagging and then miss ov when i'm away - oh well, the sex has been surprisingly exciting!! ( i say surprising cause last month it felt like a chore - but i think that was my 'sex only to conceive' attitude whereas this month i've been enjoying it a lot more!!)

So here's a question - what crazy things do you lot do post sex to try and, erm, help gravity? Handstands, hanging over the bed.... I have just started rolling onto my back with my legs and bum in the air (i did this when conceiving DS!!) and just hanging around for a while. I look ridiculous (esp as when i was TTC DS i was in damn good shape and now it's all a bit wobbly on the tummy) and DH finds it hilarious.... do you reckon it makes any difference??!

I have just read that back and it sounds ridiculous!

GTR2882 · 06/10/2011 08:44

berries ha ha ha!!! I do exactly the same thing, but tend to try and hook my feet around the head of the bed to get some extra height and then periodically pretend I am cycling (apparently this can aid in getting the spermies to their destination! I also shove some pillows under my bum and generally lie there for at least 20 mins, although when i do stand up after there is still some leakage!!!
