OK, as per Loulou's request. Simple guide to fanny batter and CP!

After your period stops, in theory you'll have no batter or sticky batter. Your cervix will be low, firm (like the tip of your nose) and closed.

As you approach ovulation, batter will go from sticky, to creamy/lotiony, to watery and the holy grail - ewcm - which is strectchy and clear - that means you're really fertile so SWI SWI SWI away!! Your cervix should go up, up, up and get softer and softer til it feels like your bottom lip and it will open.

After ov your batter should pretty much dry up and your cervix will return to a low, firm closed position.

Oh and remember to check your batter throughout the day and chart the most fertile stuff you find, but only check the CP once and from the same position (e.g. crouching or on the loo) cos the little bugger moves around during the day, and will confuse you no end!!!

Does that sound about right GTR? Anything else I've forgotten?

festiemum · 04/10/2011 09:56

Argh, cross post there! Hope you don't need your CBD sticks GTR!

festiemum · 04/10/2011 09:59

Ooh, and just occurred to me. If you're a lady (like me) who's had multiple vaginal births. You may find the open/closed sign impossible to interpret, as your cervix will be slightly open all the time anyway!!

Hmm, 'fanny batter' or 'fanny, battered'???!! :o

GTR2882 · 04/10/2011 10:00

Festie - I have taught you well lol Grin yeah that's pretty much spot on!!!

I most also point out that you can get creamy cm post ov (think it's something to do with the hormones) and this should eventually dry up as you said! but generally there should be a feeling of dryness down there (I am totally not dry at the moment but this could just be the norm)

iloveberries · 04/10/2011 10:14

just to confuse matters - i got lots of EWCM in the run up to AF last month....

blonderedhead · 04/10/2011 10:16

Congrats icooksocks, socks ain't the only thing you've been cooking hmm!

DH's sister, mum and DW all have July birthdays so I thought it would be funny if it did happen this month, but my temp's dropped again so I don't even know if I've ov'd. Not seen any ewcm either. And hardly seen dh for last few days so only a tiny bit of SWI. Well just have to keep going with the charting and hope that a pattern emerges.

Friend recommended taking a Junior Aspirin every day to keep the blood flowing and help any beans stick; she was told to do this by her doc during IVF but should be the same principle.

Hope you're all having a good week.

icooksocks · 04/10/2011 10:17

Erm can I put some input on the whole cervix thing?
Mine stays pretty firm no matter where I am in my cycle, although it does move up a small amount during ovulation. My CM is pretty much none existant though Confused

louloubellamozzarella · 04/10/2011 10:22

Fabulous, thanks GTR and festie, you put me to shame. It's sooo much better getting advice from real people and not Dr Google as the info is so contradictory and sparse out there. I think I must be around ov time then as I'm soft, fairly high and open but will do a proper check later and report back of course - TMI compulsory!

GTR2882 · 04/10/2011 10:29

I've stopped with the whole TMI warnings now Grin

berries, yes I have heard of this as well - sometimes it can also be a sign of pg!! Aren't our bodies great. Tbh, i don't think there is a single correct rule, more guidelines to follow to give us some idea. All our bodies are different and will behave in different ways, but generally there should be a pattern and as long as you can find one then i don't think there really is a right or wrong with this!! And socks is living proof to that rule, but still managed a BFP :) so anything goes i think Grin

puzzletree · 04/10/2011 11:34

Hi Mama and everyone else. Room for me on the bus? TTC#3 and AF due end of the month. Had just as little success with the relaxed approach last month as with the proper effort of the month before, so have my stash of ov sticks at the ready again this time. Good luck everybody! x

needinstructions · 04/10/2011 11:35

Ooh, I'm loving all this new information (and ways to obsess ;-) Still got AF at the moment but am gearing up for the weeks ahead.

Icooksocks - congratulations, such exciting news!!! Who have you told in RL? I think I would be wanting to shout it from the rooftops...

louloubellamozzarella · 04/10/2011 11:39

Hi puzzletree [grin} long time no see. Fx for you too, feel free to check in with update on CM/CP other TMI. We're all on operation EOD (every other day) on board, it seems - care to join us? :)

louloubellamozzarella · 04/10/2011 11:39

Grin not [grin} silly computer....

iloveberries · 04/10/2011 11:40

yeah - GTR i had heard EWCM after ov was a sign of pg and cried when i got a BFN last month.

loulou stats manager can we update the stats for this flight?!

puzzletree welcome - what method did you use for TTC number 1 and 2.... am interested in success stories!

cooks socks any tips you have being the conceiver of 4?!!

Looking forward to seeing more BFPs!

GTR2882 · 04/10/2011 11:59

You and me both berries am definitely not going to rely on that being a sign/symptom in this 2ww!!! And i am definitely not going to google anything odd that happens this time around because there is so much conflicting information out there!!

louloubellamozzarella · 04/10/2011 12:02

But of course....
festie not sure of your stats, feel free to pop yourself in if you wish to join the rabble :)

icooksocks · 04/10/2011 13:27

Ooooh get me in first class Grin

Thanks for the congrats, in RL my mil and fil know as does my best mate, other than that only other people who know are randoms on the internet Grin

I have no advice despite being a succesful conciever of 4. I'm one of those lucky bitches people that gets pregnant without problem as such. I wish there was some magic pill/potion/cream/method that I could share with you all Sad. You can all borrow my husband and his apparant "super sperm" if you wish though.

GTR2882 · 04/10/2011 13:33

Ha socks love it!!! I too wish there was some magic involved but in a way, the challenge just makes me all the more determined to get updiffed :)

louloubellamozzarella · 04/10/2011 13:40

Hi grinningbee - sorry to hear you were booted off by AF but you'll be pleased to hear that you've landed yourself a prime window seat with extra legroom on this lurvely metaphorical jet Wink

GTR ahh go on then, you know I can't resist a cheeky pointlessly early POAS. Might have to be an OS if this week though as even I know where to draw the line someimes! When were you considering testing??

louloubellamozzarella · 04/10/2011 13:41

*sometimes

GTR2882 · 04/10/2011 13:46

Well considering I am only 3dpo today, I reckon it will be Saturday well into next week - I am going to wait and see what my temps are doing in the morning and if they are up then i will see what FF says with regards to my ov day as I am still not really 100% sure I have ov'd now!!

grinningbee · 04/10/2011 14:29

Ooooh, love the seat, thank you Grin

The annoying thing is I had peed into a cup ready to test, and (ahem, tmi!) wiped and that's when I noticed the start of AF. At least, I assume it is. Anyway, I shall settle into my seat and await SWI time in about 2 weeks!

GTR2882 · 04/10/2011 14:33

Bee could i ask if the erm supposed AF is bright red/pinky/brown?? I do not want to raise hopes, but if it is fairly light and not bright red, then it might not be AF - i would monitor the situation for a day and if it gets heavier then welcome aboard, but if it doesn't then maybe a test is in order.

Just a thought......:)
