Evening ladies!

GTR hope you got in that final (final) - final?! SWI Grin

Hi mushroom and treacle - look forward to hearing about your BFPs this month.

Phew, busy day studying for me today and only an hour in the sunshine at lunchtime - not enough!! Just had a nice visit from my sis though and some dinner and aforementioned glass of vino in front of x factor. Love the judges' 'houses' programme - nice to see TV colourists at work tinting those sunsets as the judges procrastinats over who goes through!!

berries I really like Kellie (sp?) Rowland and Gary B on the panel. Louis is a silly old man and not sure about Tulisa, seems a bit fake... although this is the first full prog I've watched this yr - I usually get frustrated by the number of ads and give up!

SWI for me is not going well so far - - didn't manage to DTD last night as I had a migraine yesterday then was shattered and up early this morning. Going to pounce on DP tomorrow afternoon when I get through the door to make up for it :)

louloubellamozzarella · 01/10/2011 22:42

p.s. mama - one additional SWI can't hurt now can it?! Esp if you're definitely in the mood.

GTR2882 · 02/10/2011 09:40

Morning all!! Hope we are all enjoying the weather oh no, wait, yes Summer is over and autumn has arrived, knew it was too good to be true Grin

I have been doing a little bit of obsessing reading into the whole when to POAOS. Now, it does seem that CB indicate that for their monitor FMU should be used because of the high concentration etc etc, however, this really does contradict all other information - it is my understanding that OPKs should be used from 10:00am until around 8:00pm (although i have taken them past 8:00pm and it seems to have been ok) because the level of LH increases throughout the day (I think the optimum time is between 1:00pm and 3:00pm, but again you might surge at 3:30pm and the whole thing could be over my the morning, so using that rule of thumb means you might miss it!). I generally tend to PO at least 2-3 a day when I know I coming up to ov time (or in my case, when i don't know due to my bodies inability to play nice). However, if CB are saying use FMU then I am not going to argue with them, but it may be worth getting some ICs to waste use later on in the day, just so you can be sure you have not missed the surge (although I think CB actually tell you when to start testing!)

Berries as much as I enjoy SWI (and SWOI) after 3 days of it, I am more than tired; i also thought that the day after ov was too late as the egg only survives for 12-24 hours and if you time SWI outside of this time then you will have missed the opportunity!! If I had not managed the last 3 days then I would definitely have gone for it tonight, but I really believe i have done everything I can this cycle - let the wait commence!!

LouLou - yes, dtd one final time (and I mean final), temp rose slightly today (and only slightly from 36.28 yesterday to 36.32 today) but a rise is a rise, just need it to continue and be higher than my previous 6 and I can enjoy the break :)

mushroom welcome and don't worry, even if when i get that fabled BFP i will hang around to keep an eye on you. You lot have been so lovely and supportive that i could not abandon you before you got yours. Besides, i forgot to pack my parachute, so no getting off this plane now Grin

Off to shop today, bit of retail therapy to take my mind of TTC :)

blonderedhead · 02/10/2011 10:55

GTR, thanks for all the information, I have been dutifully reading the lessons on Fertility Friend so trying to get to know my cycle better. Partly in the hope that if I do have to go back to the gp in the next few months, they will take me seriously rather than asking me to wait another 6 months (I'm 35). I have had a temperature rise for three days now after one day when it dipped, so I think maybe last month's long 36-day cycle was an anomaly and this month could go back to c.30 days. I am now on CD 15. I am not sure if I got my swi in early enough or on the right days: I work very late three days a week so dh is fast asleep when I get home.

Well I guess it is good to see that I am having the rise and therefore hopefully ovulating. The only other thing I wondered was that the temperature rise outside my window (all that sun and that) would affect my bbt? I can't seem to find an answer to that but my temp rise did coincide with the weather.

Day off today so going to have some swi just in case! And also, well, there are other benefits. Hope your weekends are going well, never mind the plane, we need a bloody rocket launcher!

GTR2882 · 02/10/2011 12:55

Ha ha blonde i have images of us all being loaded into rockets and being launched into the great unknown!!! Grin

The temperature outside should have not affect on your BBT - at the end of the day your BBT is your bodies resting temperature so fluctuations in weather should not have an affect as your body will maintain it's core temp regardless and with a 30 day cycle, your temp rise does see to coincide with when you would be likely to ov! I would not worry too much about the weather - i think the only things that really do affect it would be drinking heavily the night before, excessive exercise the night before, sleeping with an electric blanket/hot water bottle and broken sleep!

You will be fine :)

icooksocks · 02/10/2011 13:02

Can I hop on the bus? I just fell off the June bus, AF arrived this morning 4 days bloody early!

icooksocks, TTC#4, CD1, AF due again 31st Oct

louloubellamozzarella · 02/10/2011 20:59

Have added you to the list mama and socks :) A nice updated list to start a new week with.

Right, according to the ov calendar thing on here, I'm due to ov on Weds so SWI is firmly underway in casa Loulou. I'm hoping to feel some ov twinges like I have the past couple of months. I know what they are now so will be ready to recognise them -- so, blatantly they won't turn up this month!

BFP only First Class upgrades
Awaiting passengers

Necking a complimentary G&T and Waiting to POAS
Waiting to update for passengers due AF in the next week or so

Joining the mile high club for lots of SWI
GTR2882 (29) ttc #1 AF due 9th October but let's face it, she could turn up tomorrow - who knows!! Either way, it's not fun waiting!! Cycles are horrendously long (at least 57 days!)
blonderedhead (35) ttc #1 AF due 18th October or possibly whenever Auntie bloody feels like it.
Loulou, 27, TTC#1, AF due (19 October - but unsure of cycles so maybe later)
iloveberries, 31, TTC #2, AF due 21/10 or 24/10 (I have 31/34 day cycle since coming off pill)
Mama5isalive -35 ttc3 CD10 - AF 23/24 Oct (31daycycle????)
Bluetinkerbell (28) ttc #3, AF due possibly 31 October, also depending on cycle length
icooksocks, TTC#4, CD1, AF due again 31st Oct

iloveberries · 02/10/2011 21:06

Nice to see some new passengers! Bring on the rocket launcher i say!

mama - sorry i didn't really explain very well did i! You're right about clearblue. with the ov sticks they say you can use FMU but you're right that most places say FMU is not the best as you could miss the surge. My problem is with holding it in and not drinking for a few hours midday... With the clearblue fertility monitor it monitors 2 hormones and you are supposed to use FMU... apparently these monitors have a good success rate so going to go for it next month with this.

GTR - keeping fingers crossed for you

LouLou - have a great few days ;)

I cook socks - number 4!!! good for you you brave woman!! Seeing as you've had 3 kids already perhaps you should be sharing your wisdom with us all ;)

LouLou - I am loving the new panel and kelly rocks, I completely agree with you about tulisa.... not sure what to make. did you see her on johnathon ross last night, she looked like she'd just wandered in from a night shift in a brothel..... Although perhaps i should get me something similar for all this SWI!!!

Hope you all had great weekends!

Berries x

WishingIWasLucky · 02/10/2011 21:22

Well, inspite of your best wishes and lovely thoughts ladies- AF arrived a day early yesterday, with a vengeance. My cycle has shrunk from 28 days to 24 , in the space of three months. What does this mean in terms of ttc? Heeeelp!

blonderedhead · 02/10/2011 23:47

Sorry to hear that Wishing. I've just started using Fertility Friend on the advice of our guru GTR as my cycles seemed a bit incomprehensible. Not sure if I've got it right this month In terms of timing swi but it's given me some reassurance that I do seem to be ovulating so hopefully it will start to build a bigger picture. Well I say that, of course I'm really hoping it won't need to but it seems a good idea if bfps continue to evade me.

Good luck and have a safe flight.

Mama5isalive · 03/10/2011 02:36

Berries - i hope it works out for you using it and you soon get your bfp!
ahhhh wishing- sorry you had to join us on this flight! but hopefully being off the bus and now on this super positive plane we will all reach our goal destinantion of BFP much sooner - this short haul flight!
Loulou- you give it all youve got and make it a good few! we want bfp from you and all the hard work your putting in!
i on the other hand have decided to swimore closer to when i should be so not to waste - time, energy and staying power also making sure Dh puts his back into it! ibelieve next week will be the right time, but am goint o check with erm guru GTR, i mean the dates i got when i tried the ov-ing calculator thingy on mn!
hasnt helped me thus far ( maybe putting in incorrect data) DOH!!!!!!!!!!on CD10 so maybe should be going for golden sperms now!!!!!!!

GTR2882 · 03/10/2011 06:46

Morning all!!! Temp went up again today whoop!! 2dpo it's going to be a long 2ww!!! Have a bit of a dilemma, it's my dear old mums birthday on Sunday so naturally I will be heading home to help her celebrate, problem is I will only be 7dpo by Saturday and we are due to go out for drinks! How do I get around this?? I def don't want to drink and risk any problems with potential sticky beans!!! Argh!! I mean I know I could have one, maybe 2 at a push, but we will be out most of the night!!!

On another note, Mama5 how long are your cycles? I have tried the ov calculator on here and on other sites, and I don't really put much trust in them! I think the most reliable option is knowing your own body and charting CM/CP etc (if you are lucky enough to get fertile CM of course)

If you have a regular 28 day cycle then yes, SWI on CD10 onwards sounds ideal, maybe every other day until you get the fertile signs and then every day once fertile until ov has happened!! Once you know cycle length and LP length then you should be able to work out fairly accurately when ov will occur; I count back from the day before AF to the day after ov for my LP! Obviously though, ov can vary but your LP will always be the same!!

LouLou, get in there girl!!

Welcome to socks hope this flight sees you safely to BFPland :)

crystaltea36 · 03/10/2011 09:17

Morning all! Joining from the June bus, think I'm on this bus for 2 cycles (well hopefully not!) but think if anything happens in October or November either way results in a July baby?! I think! I might have that wrong?! Anyway blabbering on!
stats:
crystaltea36(27) ttc#1 AF due 26th October

WishingIWasLucky · 03/10/2011 09:38

Thanks blonde and mama. GTR: as you are te resident expert on charting, what do you make of the clearable fertility monitors? I.e. Instead of charting malarkey? Gonna find temp taking regularly and cm checking too diddly- I just know I am! Is the monitor a good substitute in your opinion? Or should I just stick with the smiley ovulation sticks?

WishingIWasLucky · 03/10/2011 09:38

TOO FIDDLY!!!!!!

louloubellamozzarella · 03/10/2011 09:39

Morning Grin. The sun seems to have disappeared here - come baaack, I can finally get outside now!!

Ooh yay you're in the 2WW GTR - good work - on the plus side you can see this as half the job done now and time to chill - maybe plan in an orange Wed/a few trips to see friends/jobs to to to take your mind off things. That's what I'm planning to make myself be slightly less obsessive. Oh and of course there's always shopping...

Oh the drinking front, in my experience if you get in there enthusiastically with a big first drink and make it last then go for something light for the second, people don't notice if you then swap to non-alcoholic drinkies later as they're then 2/3/4... drinks ahead of you and not noticing details like that. Maybe go for a 'vodka cranberry' (cranberry juice), alcohol light shandy or white wine spritzer (tres 80s!). Gosh, I'm quite the expert drink dodger!

Wishing sorry to hear about the early AF but happy to have you on board :)mama good luck with charting - it seems to be all about the CM!

WishingIWasLucky · 03/10/2011 09:45

Lou: you're right. The weather IS playing silly beggars! The 2ww is sooooo long and full of hope and anticipation, drags on forever. Fingers crossed for you Lou and GTR that you get your BFPs this month. And so off this roller coaster.
Just trying to plan ttc for the month ahead! Not sure where to start. Just cannot be charting! That much I do know!

louloubellamozzarella · 03/10/2011 09:54

wishing SWI every other day is a good, simple plan - saves your energy, takes planning and dates out of the equation and ensures that the swimmers are sufficiently replenished. That's what I'm doing this month - hopefully will report back at the end of the month with a BFP :)

nearlymumofone · 03/10/2011 10:08

Morning all.

Can I join you?
nearlymumofone (really should change my name as i'm ttc#2 now) (34) AF due 28th Oct-ish....

I'm on 2nd cycle, will be swi from days 8-20 of cycle, as i have no clue when I ov. The month I got pg with ds I'd given up, and only did it twice that month, both times either side of when I'd have thought I would be ov'ing..... so who knows!!

needinstructions · 03/10/2011 10:22

Morning, and hope you all had lovely sunny weekends full of optimism and happiness!

Nearlymumofone - sounds like you are very much on same timing as me so hope you don't mind if I tag along! I'm also on 2nd cycle with AF due 28 Oct, although I am ttc#3 and 36yrs old.

I also have no clue when I ov but DH and I are fairly randy characters so I haven't done any CM checking/POAOS/temperature or whatever. May need to change that if things take a while this time around, but I'm doing my best to stay relaxed about it all for the moment (not very successfully obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be on MN all the time!)

GTR2882 · 03/10/2011 10:52

wishing I have not used the CB monitors but I have heard that they do take the stress out of everything because they actually tell you when to start testing and give you a large window of opportunity to get SWIing - of they were not so god damn expensive I would be investing in one myself, but TTC is proving to be quite expensive and I there are other things that i need to spend my hard earned pay on, so going with the old fashioned approach of charting every sign that I can!! i would still recommend temping as although it can't tell you when you will ov, it can tell you when you have and when you are in the 2ww then your temps will let you know if you are heading on course for BFP or whether they drop and AF is imminent!! CM for me is not as reliable as I rarely get the fertile stuff, but I check anyway just in case. So all in all, I say yes to the CB monitor as the reviews I have read/heard seem very positive.

LouLou thanks for the advice (knowing me I will end up having all 3 of those drinks :)) I am foolishly hoping for some news by Saturday (oh a long shot I know) but if not, it may just be worth telling them (they are my parents after all).

My CP is super high - never had it that high before!! And CM is back to being creamy (it has been slightly EW and watery recently) so I am almost 100% sure that ov has happened!!!! My only concern is something that DH said to me last week, he has been speaking to someone at work who professes to be a bit of a physcic and has told DH that he predicts our family will expand 18 months after our wedding (we got married in April). This is always at the back of my mind, what's more worrying is my cycles, because if he is right (which I am starting to doubt) then I would conceive in December. This is all well and good, but because I have long cycles, I would technically not have my next AF until Feb (AF after this month would be early December)!!

Wow, sorry for the waffling Blush

iloveberries · 03/10/2011 14:07

GTR the fertility monitors are cheaper online than at boots... still pricey but i'm hoping it will take the thinking and stress out of it.

lovely sunny day here

LouLou looks like we're both on operation EOD (every-other-day). Early night for me tonight!! ;)

Loving the positive vibes here. hoping for luck for us all x

WishingIWasLucky · 03/10/2011 14:17

Thanks girlies, will have a think! Good luck to everyone! x

oggy24 · 03/10/2011 16:38

Could I please jump on the bandwagon? AF got me last week so I hopped off the June bus.

Oggy24 (26) TTC#1, AF due 23rd October

Fingers crossed for everyone!
