hi all 'n' peachy, not got long as am taking ds to photo shoot so if nobody about will chat later

wannaBe1974 · 16/01/2006 13:49

Well last couple weeks I did really well. only small breakfast, rivita for lunch and proper dinner. no snacks in between but at the weekend I just blew it and made a chocolate and ginger sponge for dessert yesterday and the remaineer of the ginger biscuits I put in the pudding are sitting in the cupboard just begging to be eaten! I keep using the excuce that maybe I'm pg and so should be eating more than I have been. don't think I'll be able to keep using that one when AF arrives.

mumswish · 16/01/2006 13:57

If AF appears which I hope it doesnt then its comfort eating, which is fine for a couple of weeks until AF is nearly due then you're eating cos your pg --- the circle can continue for ages! lol

wannaBe1974 · 16/01/2006 14:00

lol yeh i know! hmm so do I leave early to pick up DS and stop at the chemist and get another test? or do I be good and wait another few days.

mumswish · 16/01/2006 14:08

Its upto you. If its a BFN will you be really dissapointed? What i mean is, what if you are pg but this test says your not, can you handle that?

Hayls · 16/01/2006 14:56

Despite all my talk of Mother NAture blah de blah I just bought some ovulation sticks on Ebay . Now I need an expert to explain how and when to use them!!
Anyone about?

northerner · 16/01/2006 15:22

Hi guys, back for a bit. Ds has a friend coming to play at 3.30pm and I think the Mum might stay, so I'll have to chat to her. Can't really be MNetting!

Boobs are still sore but apart from that don't feel PG at all. In fact bought some new jeans today and I think Ive lost weight. So we'll see.

Cori - your'e right. I won't test too early. You can get a BFN if you test too early can't you? Even if you are?

pussycatmomma · 16/01/2006 15:30

hi everyone
im not much of an expert on ovulation sticks though ....

wannaBe1974 · 16/01/2006 15:36

Don't know much about ovulation sticks as I've never personally used them.

Well I bought the test but as yet haven't done it.

pussycatmomma · 16/01/2006 15:45

ooops wannabe we crossed posts.

mumswish · 16/01/2006 16:26

wannabe! TEST TEST TEST!!

Coriander73 · 16/01/2006 16:46

Yep Northerner....the levels of pregnancy hormones might not be strong enough to detect the fact you may be pregnant. If you want to test then wait until at least the day before (just to give yourself as much chance as possible...if you can bear it that is!!!) Fingers crossed

mumswish · 16/01/2006 16:49

ladies, I'm off now. I'll speak to you all tomorrow. Have a good evening. Fingers crossed for anyone testing!!

HUGS & KISSES

Having read these forums it seems that clearblue are increasingly unreliable as so many seem to have tested negative with clearblue and positive with other brands - any experience?

I tested with clearblue when I was pg with DS but I was about 6 weeks pg by then - long story but basically I had a bleed which I figured to be a period so never gave pregnancy a thought until I passed out couple weeks later and they told me my hormone tests were all a bit screwed up so did a pg test on the off chance. But tested with clear blue on saturday and was negative and yet still no AF so either my body is having a major laugh at my expense (8 quid a pop is some expense lol), or the clearblue test just isn't picking up the hormone.

pussycatmomma · 16/01/2006 17:38

wannabe i always thought clearblue was one of the most reliable of tests, maybe im wrong if you have heard otherwise....
a little bit of good news, my sis has had her embryo transfer (for those of you following the story!), the embryos defrosted well, she had 1 with 8 cells which retained all 8 cells, but the second went to 5 cells during defrost. But transfer went well, she is fine and now resting.
Roll on 2 weeks!!!! i so hope it all works out for her this time, esp after such a trauma last time (bfp, but ectopic and miscarried)
((((hugs to all)))))

northerner · 16/01/2006 17:46

Fingers crossed for your sister PCM. IVF must be such a rollercoster of emotions.

Am off out tonight to a Chinese restaurant for dinner for a committee meeting. Will be very boring, but food should be good.

pussycatmomma · 16/01/2006 17:48

enjoy your evening hun, just concentrate on the food and the committee stuff should become a blur

Hayls · 16/01/2006 17:51

Ooh, sounds good Northener. I tried to make a cheesey chicken thing but chicken was out of date so made baked potatoes and scrambled egg, which dd refused so she had a slice of ham, cherry tomatoes, melon, banana and 2 yogurts. Not exactly balanced but at least she's eating again.
PCM, fingers crossed

Hayls · 16/01/2006 17:53

Sorry, dd was on my lap and messing about because she wants kneebouncers on.. 'abbit, mummy, abbit'
Could be 2 year old's version of baby dust!!

wannaBe1974 · 16/01/2006 18:07

aw keeping fingers crossed for your sister PCM. Is this her first attempt?

peachygirl · 16/01/2006 18:13

Hi how?s everyone?s day been?
Interesting about the clearblues I was told by a family planning nurse the clearblues were the ones to use but the Boots one seem to be good ones from what Msnetters say.
Northerner I think you are too early to test but have a great time tonight.
Trace, I also want to know more about your supermodelling afternoon
I don?t know anything about the ovulation sticks. I have a persona machine where you wee on the stick and it analyses it they must be similar, does a line come up? as I have said before (nag, nag, nag everyone) are you looking at your cervical mucus as this is a good indicator of your fertile time.
Fingers crossed for you sister pussycat, How old is she? Has she been trying for long? How long did it take for her to get treatment? Did she have to go private? ?sorry too many questions (nosy parker I am)

wannaBe1974 · 16/01/2006 18:19

yeah peachy I too had heard that clearblue were the most reliable, but recently have seen lots of posts from mumsnetters saying that they tested negative with clearblue and then positive with boots own. Having said that I guess it's possible that leaving it just a day or two longer might have tested positive with the clearblue - who knows. I guess I'm just hoping the clearBlue was unreliable as had a negative test with that, and still no AF.
