MissTinaTeaspoon · 09/09/2011 16:03

Grin for AandR GrinGrinGrin. What cd are you?

Freezingmyarseoff · 09/09/2011 16:15

Congrats AandR GrinGrin although very quietly! sshhhh Smile

Welcome bear, sorry I'm on my phone so can't scroll back but as others say sometimes the thread is quiet & sometimes not. I like that as no pressure to keep up!

mouse sorry to hear about the hypermobility although I admit I don't know much about it. Hope the blood tests provide some answers that you can act on. Luckily for me I'm not in any pain, the RA is definitely behaving itself this pregnancy although I'm still on various medication.

I just found out a very good friend is 10 weeks pregnant. I'm so pleased for her as she's also had two MC's close to mine so I felt a bit bad to have got so far this time. Anyway good news all round today.

Waves to all as ever x

itsabear · 09/09/2011 16:33

Phew that's ok then! (excuse paranoia - I am new to posting on mn and don't know the etiquette so was worrying my posts had been too long!)

Away to the countryside for the weekend with a group of friends which should hopefully take my mind off everything. The mc seems to be finishing now too which I'm thankful for. Felt horrendous at the beginning of the week and had to sleep lots due to the pain which doesn't really help with trying to put on a happy everything's normal face for my DD.

(Congrats to AandR, allbeit quietly :))

Lovely weekend wishes to all xx

Velvetcu · 09/09/2011 16:48

AandR What lovley news for you! Keeping my fingers crossed for you xxxxx

I am here lurking around, not a lot to say really - have started my steroids, so am mainly just eating and being a bit manic. I am Dpo 8 but not hopeful due to my crap body being crap.
Hello to all though xx and I am especially excited for all our new BFPs, and hello to new people too. I shall post longer when I don't have the tea on! :)

CollieandPup · 10/09/2011 05:06

hoping it's a sticky one.

I'm usually about lurking, and am so Smile to see some of the recent bfp's! Just hoping this thread continues to be lucky and we see some more.... Eyes up Tina mouse and battery!

I was hoping I could ask a question? You were talking a while back about breatfeeding and someone suggested breast shields mightbe helpful if your struggling. I know they can help if your in pain, but for some reason I thought I remember someone saying they can help baby latch... But it was a while ago and brian has regular visits these days!!! NCT breast feeding counsellor says I'm wrong, but of course to her they are there devil!

mousebacon · 10/09/2011 08:01

Morning collie !

When I had ds he really struggled to latch and a breast shield really helped until my milk came in a few days later. I was very lucky not to have any pain but they did help with latch.

I wouldn't use them if all goes well but they did help and it was a midwife in hospital that brought me one.

Xx

OP posts:
CollieandPup · 10/09/2011 08:17

Morning mouse, how are you?

Thanks for replying! Do you know how they are supposed to help? When shields came up i said in the class that I thought they were supposed to help with the latch but she said not, made me look a bit silly and I had no retort as really hadn't read up. There are a lot of women in the class, like me, worried about not being able to bf and I think it's only fair they know their options and not just what our rightous nct class teacher thinks is acceptable! She wound me up on soooo many levels!!! I was thinking I'd buy one, just in case I needed it, as I'd want to try anything if I was struggling before restorting to formula. Then return it if i don't!

MissTinaTeaspoon · 10/09/2011 08:52

Hi collie! I'll join you on that soapbox, budge up for me Grin

If you don't mind me asking, what shape are your nipples? Blush If they are flat or inverted, shield help to draw them out to give the baby something to latch to, but if they're not then you probably wouldn't find them all that useful tbh. I wouldn't necessarily recommend them for sore nipples, unless they're really cracked, because whatever you get told bf hurts! At the start of every feed for the first few weeks your toes will curl, but if you avoid using any creams or shields the skin with toughen up and then it gets better, and it'll all be worth it (I hope I haven't put you off Grin)

Waves to everyone else, can't stay, the new ballet term starts in half an hour and I'm not even dressed!

TomboyWife · 10/09/2011 10:56

AandR Hooray! Such fab news! (Shushes self so as not to get too excited. Shh, self, shh!)

Anyway, quietly very Grin for you.

Welcome itsabear!

Nothing new from me. I'm on CD 32-ish of what's normally about a 26- or 27-day cycle. I haven't tested, but don't feel pg at all, and I seem to remember a lot of you had longer than normal cycles the first few times after mc? This is my first cycle post-WTF.

LadyMaybe · 10/09/2011 11:25

Yeah, but some of us also went back to normal cycles and had no symptoms before a bfp test woman!

AandR I have everything crossed for you. If you can't persuade doc to give progesterone straight up then try bargaining for a blood test - if it's on the low side you can use it as ammunition, if it's ok then it might give reassurance. And if your nhs gp isn't helpful, perhaps consider axprivate consult ? pinkFF went to ARGC I think and they were very attentive and willing to monitor levels. Not cheap though.

Another day gone by here, not much to report. DH had to work most of the day so I packed a picnic and took DS to a park to give him some peace. We both had naps when we got home. Mine was longest Blush

AandRMum · 10/09/2011 11:36

Hi All, Thank you for your restraint! GP was unable to do anything with advice from consultant but she didn't think you can get progesterone on NHS unless doing IVF. She is going to check on Monday but I'm not holding out hope. Trying to decide if it is worth going private. Hopefully I will get and early scan and if it goes wrong this time I will try and get a plan in action for the next time.

Test Tomboy and join me (and LadyM) in the deep denial corner

TomboyWife · 10/09/2011 13:27

Okay okay, I'll test. BFN. Which is good this month due to job changing. Also, if I'd got a positive I would've had to feel quite guilty about the amount of booze I drank at my leaving party last night.

digitalgirl · 10/09/2011 18:14

Glad it was the result you were after tomboy - much better to get pg next month!

AandR pretty sure it's down to your gp's discretion. I told my gp that I'd been prescribed it by Mr S and he's offered to top up my prescriptions whenever I run out of anything - steroid, progesterone, metformin. But maybe that's because I had copies of letters outlining treatment. Has anyone medical ever suggested progesterone supplements to you? If so could you get a letter from them to show your gp?

ladym keeping busy is good. I actually can't believe how busy I've been, probably helped by the steroids which prevent me from falling asleep before midnight.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 10/09/2011 19:31

Just popping in to give aandr a gentle congratulatory squeeze

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 10/09/2011 19:32

Damn, meant tomboy not Tina obviously! Blush. Sorry. Am crap x

LadyMaybe · 11/09/2011 07:50

My GP back in the UK gave me an NHS prescription after getting the OK from my consultant - but I expect it depends entirely on the whim of the consultant. Best of luck AandR and I really hope that this does work out, if only in the interest of making exciting deadlines for tv houses.

Well, Tomboy sorry it wasn't BFP but you're right, it will be better timing after a little while of being in the new job.

After a stunningly beautiful spring day here yesterday, today has been one of those days where the only thing sensible is to huddle under rugs, watch as DS empties box after box of toys onto the floor and attempt to view some catch up trash tv. Along with dashing rain, there was a tornado a few suburbs over from us, but apparently noone hurt just lots of tiles off roofs and some tree branches and powerlines down. Shock

Had a bit of a down day, my symptoms are getting worse - nausea and overwhelming tiredness mainly - but I can't shake the memories that this is just what has happened every other time, 2 weeks of feeling like utter crap, for nothing. I'm trying to hold on to the knowledge that I managed to have DS without any meds, and this time I've got everything covered that I can. But the prospect of the next 2 weeks is, frankly, scaring the shit out of me. Sad

MissTinaTeaspoon · 11/09/2011 09:17

lady I hope that the next 2 weeks pass by uneventfully and quickly for you, it's good that ds is keeping you busy x

What tv programme are you being filmed for AandR? I seem to have missed that piece of news!

For the one and only time I'm glad it's a bfn tomboy, good luck for the new job Smile

No news from me, still no temp rise. Met up with some uni friends yesterday, some of whom I hadn't seen for years, which was lovely, until I got back to the car and there was a parking ticket on the windscreen! I think I can get out of it though - one end of the road doesnt have the necessary sign - they changed the traffic flow but not the restricted parking zone sign Angry but emoticon!

AandRMum · 11/09/2011 19:28
digitalgirl · 12/09/2011 00:12

No pumped up muscles here AandR just a wild eyed stare, moonface and an inability to fall asleep before midnight.

Today we had lunch with friends in south London, got stuck in awful traffic trying to cross the river when they'd shut several bridges for the Thames Festival. Then bath and bedtime for an overtired (but insisting he wasn't) ds. Then baked a cake for my dad's birthday tomorrow. Then had a row with dh because ds swears under his breath just like him (today he said fucking bugger - again. He only ever does it in front of other people never with just family, I think he thinks it makes him look grown up even though no one ever acknowledges him saying it. Haven't got the foggiest what else to do about it. It's really not that often and it's always timed for maximum embarrassment.)
Tomorrow morning I have a school tour for the local primary we want to send ds to next year. Then my dad's surprise birthday dinner in the evening. I have another scan on weds but this time with my private consultant. Plus a really busy week at work. I'm hoping next week won't be quite so mental.

batteryhen · 12/09/2011 16:36

Gosh it's quiet in here!

I am just her to post a little link. I saw this and am thinking of going. Its a fertility roadshow in London in November. There are lots of seminars to attend and lots of exhibitors. There are sessions on recurrent miscarriage etc. Thought some of you might be interested too xx

www.fertilityshow.co.uk/where-and-when.html

Freezingmyarseoff · 12/09/2011 23:35

Digi oh I know the steroid staying up late trick. It's so bloody annoying. Things sound pretty hectic for you right now, hope you get to put your feet up somewhere in there. Good luck for your next scan.

battery thanks for the link. How are you doing chook?

tomboy glad you got the result that suited right now.

lady The first bit is so hard, I don't really know what to say other than you're allowed to have down days. Can you try to ignore the fact you have a bfp? That sounds daft now it's written down. Denial & displacement therapy is a good plan plus you do sound like you have much better care out there compared to UK. Hand holding here for you.

AandR good luck with the gp. & progesterone.

Am properly knackered today & I have masses of things to do - we're off for a week in Scotland on wed & I haven't really thought of the washing & packing needed yet. Or the logistics of getting a preschooler, her new trunki & a pram across London on my own on time for catching the sleeper train. How to avoid a complete meltdown given we can't board the sleeper until 8.30pm is going to be interesting.

Anyway, might not post very much in the next week (not much of a change there) but will lurk, signal permitting.

LadyMaybe · 13/09/2011 02:15

It's good advice Freezing and not as if I don't have lots of boxes tasks to be getting on with still. It's a weird double-bluffing going on. On the one hand trying to stick fingers in my ears and go lalalala nothing to see here, and on the other heading off to a blood test for another HCG count this morning, trying to deal with nausea and sticking myself with needles every evening.

Re the cross-London travel, in some circumstances, for the sake of stress-free living I would go for sacrificing either time or money. Either look for a route that involves no changes - and no stairs. If you can find an underground line that goes direct and has lifts, then use it. Otherwise go for a bus even if it takes an age. Failing that, throw money at the problem and use a taxi. Grin Far better to sit looking out the window pootling across London ignoring the meter than sweating and struggling up and down stairs with your hands full. Just think of it as part of the holiday expenses.

AandR how did you get on?

Would any one mind if I re-instated the 6th form list? On a separate thread? I've lost track of where the TTCers are, which is no good for stalking cheerleading, Itsabear is still recovering I think, and I know the preggos are probably on a list somewhere else but it's nice to see a bit of success to inspire.
If you're happy to be go on it, how about just putting your stats in a message and I'll collect them up. Now that jollster is taking a break I'll have a go at keeping it up to date.
