Period late, pregnancy test negative...

This is in many ways a really stupid and irritating post because I know the only answer is "wait and see", but I am finding it REALLY hard to wait and see, and have spent about £400 on pregnancy tests this month (all of which have been negative).

I had my IUD removed on the 20th May and have had two periods since then, which seemed to be regular. This month I had serious period-style pain about a week before my period was due, then again this weekend (when it actually WAS due)... But I did a test today and it was negative. Since they claim to be 99% accurate, does this mean that it's more likely that I am just not as regular as I thought I was, or is it still possible to be pregnant (wishful think, wishful think)?!

Any news Flower or Mercury?
Interested to hear you talk to your mum about it Flower. I've not told my Mum we're TTC. Don't want to get her hopes up as well as mine! She also has legendary fertility (Me and brother out of 3 of us were accidents), plus she was accident herself from Grandmother - was hoping it ran in the family!!

Mercury123 · 22/07/2011 21:10

8 days now still BFN Sad still holding out for BFP!

Sandydunes · 25/07/2011 14:24

Hello! This is my first mumsnet post but I just had to join in...

I am now 4 days late...it may not seem like much but I have had a 28 day cycle always, and my period usually arrives within the same 6 hour window each month, that's how regular I am.

I have tested with First Response, internet cheapies and a tesco test and all are negative. I am getting more and more frustrated and am also searching the internet to see if it is possible to get a late BFP!

Looking forward to your updates ladies....

Mercury123 · 25/07/2011 18:11

Hello Sandydunes

Its crazy how a missed period can send you so loopy.

Im now 11 days late, still BFN but worked out that I would have only concieved two weeks ago so fingers crossed its just a little early.

The pregnancy test companies must love us impatient women!

Anyway...let us know how you get on, I hope you get a BFP :)

Pipbin · 25/07/2011 18:20

I never could understand why test were sold in twin packs until I was TTC.

I'm now 3 days late with two negative tests. I think I ov'd late though.

Sandydunes · 25/07/2011 19:53

Mercury...11 days late, I can only imagine how frustrated you must be!

I have a feeling that my period will be here tomorrow, not sure why, I'm just feeling a bit yuck.

Good luck Pipbin...I'm watching this thread with interest, surely one of us must get a BFP?!

Pipbin · 25/07/2011 20:11

Right now I just want an answer one way or the other.

I'm of to stay with a pregnant friend on Friday and I'd love to know before then.

If I'm quite honest next month would be much better timing. That way I'm not going to be disappointed.

Sandydunes · 25/07/2011 20:45

That's the same with me...next month was when we had planned to start TTC so a bfp this month would be a lovely surprise. And if its a BFN then we're just back to the original plan!

Pipbin · 25/07/2011 21:25

I've even googled have a sore throat as a sign.
And every tiny bit of CM is being scrutinised.

Mercury123 · 25/07/2011 23:52

Yep very frustrated Sandy. I've never been very patient for anything.

I've been there with the googling. Every tiny pain, twinge or tingle is googled to see if it is a sign.

DP thinks I'm nuts Grin

Angiebops · 26/07/2011 00:50

Hi I seem to be in the same boat too! AF due last wed normally always either on time or early. Have had all the preggo symptoms - tiredness, vagueness, constant hunger, nausea, smell sensitivity, sore boobs and nausea - yet negative pregnancy tests. I did have one very faint positive but it was about 20 min after the test. Im worried that I am pregnant but has not formed properly and therefore hcg levels not rising (has happened to me before). Got BFP 6 days before AF due with DS. Its soooooo frustrating!!. I really really hope that this is real and will be so disappointed if its not but at the same time I just want to know either way! How are you guys coping?

Sandydunes · 26/07/2011 08:15

This morning I got a very very faint line on a test but it looks like an evap line and you can't see it unless you turn it to the light. So I'm still in the same situation and can't afford to spend any more money on tests!
Angiebops I am starting to get worried too that this is a chemical pregnancy or something like Thu? I am at least 15dpo. Maybe with your second pregnancy it shows up later? I'm just being hopeful. If you don't mind me asking, how long was it before you found out that something was wrong with your earlier pregnancy?

Good luck everyone.

Angiebops · 26/07/2011 11:44

Hi Sandy, I have had 1 full pregnancy with very slight spotting around when af due (same as this time as well). also had 2 early mc/chemical pregs when I had faint bfp and the same light brown spotting around af time. difference is the spotting didnt really stop. First time was a nightmare kept spotting for about 8 weeks (had uss but nothing showed on scan). second time spotting kept getting heavier until af finally arrived at 5 weeks gest. Sound strange but both times I knew it just did not feel right.

Am trying to stay positve this time as no more spotting and have all the preggo signs. just got to wait it out i think. will test again tomorrow morning (in new zealand so about to go to bed). Hope to see some good news when I return. Good luck ladies.......

Mercury123 · 26/07/2011 12:07

I have had the same thoughts too but the one thing keeping me hopeful is no spotting, not even a tiny sign of AF.

I'm going to test again Friday and then ask for a blood test I think. I am having more symptoms everyday but still BFN.

As for coping I am ok one minute with hope that I'm PG then the next minute I'm upset and ready to give up hope. Hormones? Lol

I'm so glad I've got MN though, it's good to know I'm not alone. Who knew TTC was this stressful?

Everyone else around me seems to get pregnant at the drop of a hat!

Ah well rant over Grin

Pipbin · 26/07/2011 12:36

I'm exactly the same mercury.
Day 4 of AF missing in action and nothing. I usually get a few days of warning shots before she arrives in full force.
Don't forget that those women who get pregnant at the drop of a hat (or pants) might have been trying for years.
I've only told one friend that I'm trying.

Holding on to test again until Friday. Then I'm away until next week. If there is nothing by then I'll go to the doctors.
I have to say I don't 'feel' pregnant but my breakfast nearly came back this morning and my ( . Y . ) are sore.

Sandydunes · 26/07/2011 15:45

How long is everyone waiting before going to the doctor? My period is now 4 days late with no sign of arriving. I'm very happy to have found this thread. ITs the only thing keeping me sane!

Angiebops good luck with the testing. I had an early mc a couple of years ago which started with the spotting you described. So until i see that then I'm keeping optimistic.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 26/07/2011 17:02

Watching this thread with interest - some people must be pregnant, surely! Am on CD39. Totally confused. BFN on Thursday and haven't tested since. My cycles are usually about 35-37 days. Why do I have to be cursed with such long cycles?

goingmadtrying · 26/07/2011 17:08

So understand how you are feeling ladies my cycles are getting more and more annoying!!! I just wanted to let you know that I spoke to my gp last month was 10 days late in the end and she said it's not unusual to miss one period and to see her if the 2nd didn't turn up the following month:( (I know probably not what you wanted to hear!!) hopefully you'll get an answer either way soon,

Pipbin · 26/07/2011 18:19

One of us just has to be tooImmature. Wink

I am sooo hungry right now, but that could be because I'm on WeightWatchers.

Mercury123 · 26/07/2011 19:33

I am going to wait a few more weeks until going to the docs, I am terrified of needles and I know that I will have to have a blood test.

My boobs are huge and my DP has even noticed. Ive been getting a metal taste in my mouth and heartbearn so unless I am going mad Im keeping some hope untiil AF arrives Grin

Pipbin · 27/07/2011 08:38

Did a dip stick pound shop test this morning. BFN

Boobs no longer sore. No energy though, couldn't manage my morning run. Might be that I'm on a diet though.

Sandydunes · 27/07/2011 08:43

Morning Pipbin.

Another evap line on an internet cheapie for me. No sign of period coming.

Its so frustrating isn't it?!

Pipbin · 27/07/2011 09:48

I'm so glad I've got company with this situation sandy.

Just want an answer now.

Discolite · 27/07/2011 11:46

Hello everyone!

I'm not in your situation at the moment (only 3 dpo so a long wait yet!) but I found this statistical analysis of Fertility Friend's data interesting.

www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/When_can_I_expect_a_positive_HPT_if_I_am_pregnant.html

Maybe that's because I'm a science nerd though. Most interesting finding for me is that only 10% of pregnancies were detected at 10 dpo - it would definitely seem to be a waste of time and money testing so early. I hope you all get to know one way or the other soon!

Pipbin · 27/07/2011 21:10

Well I'm 16 dpo.
I think it is a definite BFN now.
I don't feel pregnant.

That said, it's not over until AF sings!
