Congratulations to morning - here's wishing you a happy & healthy 9 months!
I am just on CD6 today so may start the SWI this weekend :o
Saw the GP yesterday & the results of my day 21 test were not great so I need to repeat the test this month. FX that the result was just due to timing issues.

Beegee757 · 14/10/2011 12:43

I have spotting.... AF not due until 25th - guess now I start the long wait till I can POAS.... deep breaths!!

HeyMicky · 15/10/2011 06:00

Awesome. Woke up 5am to discover period had arrived, also discovered husband still awake on sofa, not having come to bed cos he'd done some coke. Hurrah! Way to work towards the same goal! In floods; literally nowhere else to talk about this, how do you start that conversation? :S Would normally be more tolerant, but very poor timing

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 15/10/2011 18:33

Oh dear Mickey, what a start to the day, I hope it's improved... I have no idea how you start that kind of conversation, except that it's probably good to wait a bit for your feelings to settle a bit before you do, give you time to organise your thoughts. Good luck with it

Squirrel77 · 17/10/2011 08:04

Mickey, sorry to hear about that. It must be really frustrating when you are doing everything you can to get pregnant and you must feel like he's not taking it as seriously as you. I would be really upset if that happened (I get cross enough when DH tucks in to yet another beer, knowing full well it's bad for his fertility). I hope you can talk to him about it. Take care. xx

Hi
I'm new on MN posted on another thread but thought might fit here better. I've just turned 29, been trying ttc #1 for a year after being on the pill for three years. af all over the place but particularly bad last 3 months. Had my lh fsh rubella chlamydia tests done all fine. Progesterone test done but coincided with suspected ovulation rather than being after it so attempt 2 next week. dh has his appt for SA at end of month and i'm being referred to specialist.

I think the biggest overiding thought though is not having anyone to talk to who understands, who can make it make a bit more sense. If I can even halfway understand I don't think it will feel quite as bad. So i'm hoping being on mumsnet will help.

If anyone else been in similar position would welcome your insight. Just to understand in laymans terms and also know what to expect at hospital. Thanks

MrsRogers381 · 17/10/2011 15:10

Hello everyone, me and hubby are starting to loss try for #1 but starting to Papp myself lmao, feel so ready just worried about weight etc as I'm 5'6 and 23 yrs but somehow weigh over 16 stone. Iv always been active and healthy other than last couple of months as just got but lazy after getting wed so back into healthy lifestyle again. I'm only normal curvy shape so don't know if I should
Be stressing about it as long as I tone up and eat right .... Any advice would be great. Also my hubbie is on a lighterlife style diet (very low calorie) do u think that will affect health of his swimmers??

Any advice in this daunting time would be g8 x

Readynow · 18/10/2011 09:43

Hi Cakes I am in a similar position to you as been ttc for over 9 months & had my day 3 tests which were all fine but will have to repeat my progesterone test this cycle as I had it to close to ovulation to get an accurate result! My DH has not had his swimmers tested yet though. My GP said if the progesterone result is low a second time then she will refer me.

Mrs Rogers - Not sure about the diet affecting swimmers but hopefully someone else may know more & can answer you.

CaveMum · 18/10/2011 22:04

Hello all, welcome to even more newbies! I hope this thread is lucky for you all and that your stay is a short one, in the nicest possible way Grin

OP posts:
CaveMum · 18/10/2011 22:10

Sorry, meant to add to MrsRogers - it takes 3 months to make sperm from start to finish so any dietary changes will take at least this long to have an effect on them. I can't see that calorie intake will have an effect, but it is very important that he's getting the right vitamins and minerals. Might be worth you putting him on a supplement like WellMan Conception tablets.

To Cakes I've spent more than my fair share in hospitals over the last 10 months! While it is not much fun, you have to focus on the long term aim: every step you take and hoop you jump through is bringing you closer to that little snugly bundle Grin

Hi, may I join?!

Fishpants - 24 - TTC #1 as a single mum.

Cycle 1 officially - on Day 9 right now, and starting OPK's tomorrow!

Stasi · 19/10/2011 14:28

Hi everyone, can I join too?

I posted in another thread (10+ months) but would like to join you here too.

I've been ttc since stopping the pill in Sept 2010. Had an initial consultant appointment in Dec 2010 due to medical history (cancer in 2009), but it was too early to think about tests and things. I had an internal ultrasound which showed no physical problems, and that I had ovulated - so I decided to wait and see for a while.

It's now been a while, so I phoned the department last month to make another appointment with same consultant to talk again now - but he's all booked up till Jan. Got a GP appointment on Monday and am hoping my GP can do some standard tests/advice then.

My statistics, according to phone app, from the last 12 cycles is:

Cycle length - min 26, max 30
Luteal Phase length - min 9, max 13
Ovulation day - min 14, max 18

Last two cycles I looked at last night had a Luteal Phase/DPO of 11 - counting from day BBT rose to day period started.

So is that:

Stasi (30) - TTC#1, Cycle 15, UCL 26-30 days, 10DPO, AF due 1-3 days?

cakes82 · 19/10/2011 22:01

I'm confused, my doctor sent me for blood tests on what was hoped to be day 21 and did everything all at once rather than a day 3 test as well. Is that normal?
Less concerned about my dh SA as his last girlfriend had a miscarriage, but then he is now on BP meds so who knows,,

CaveMum · 20/10/2011 10:42

Morning all, and welcome to even more newbies!!

Well, I'm fairly certain I'm about to ovulate, or have done in the last 24 hours. There has been a distinct increase in the old pant snot, but tbh I'm not trusting my body until it gets into some sort of rhythm. I mean, who ovulates on bloody Day 60 for crying out loud?!

It's also typical that it's likely to be a mid-week ovulation with DH working away, so there is limited hope of any good news this time round. However, on the plus side it does mean I can start on my Clomid tablets once AF shows up. Hopefully that will get me ovulating on a more regular basis, preferably on a Saturday!

Stasi · 20/10/2011 15:44

I think my ideal day for ovulating (if I could choose) would be a Sunday... SWI Fri, Sat and Sun.. and if the OH has a 'headache' or is tired, it's not the end of the world to miss out one day and make him feel appreciated, and more than just a delivery driver :)

Chutneyandcheese · 20/10/2011 17:33

Hello! Can I join in too? I've read all the posts and finding it reassuring to hear your stories. I'm keen to keep the full extent of my TTC obsession hidden from DH!

Chutneyandcheese, 31 ttc #1, CD 1 UCL 37 AF 21st Nov

Stasi · 21/10/2011 10:40

Hi Cakes, just wanted to say I'm in the same position as you, except you're ahead of me on a few of the tests! I'm hoping I'll be able to request my doctor do blood tests and things for me on Monday, so I can have as many test results as possible prepared for my consultant appointment in Jan.

Hi and welcome Chutney, wow CD1 - hope this is the one for you! Hope you've not been trying long, the first few cycles for me were the most exciting - but also the most depressing in a way, I remember how certain I was every month that it would be 'the one'. I went through about 15 tests in the first 6 months, and done none since. I don't like to think of it as waiting to 'fail', just trying not to get my hopes up. Every month I give myself a target day that I'll be able to test, and my AF always comes before it.

How many people on here are charting their BBT and CM?

Beegee757 · 21/10/2011 11:09

Have now had two people in the last week ask me if I'm pregnant - seeing as (a) I don't yet know, haven't done a test - AF not due until 25th; and (b) I haven't said anything about TTC to a soul, not even my mum!

So, in an attempt not to get hopes up, I'm choosing to be naffed off at the comments and am promising to go on a diet and never wear this obviously unflattering outfit again!!!!

Stasi · 21/10/2011 14:02

Beegee have you tried asking why they think you are pregnant? Maybe you look radiant, or happy, or confident.. and not something to do with your waistline or outfit.

I know some people think they know when you are pregnant, and if these are people that know you quite well, maybe they can see something you can't. I can't imagine asking anyone if they were pg unless I was pretty darn sure!

However, I'd stick with the not getting your hopes up plan, it's easier that way. BUT - maybe think to yourself it could be something positive they're commenting on.

Readynow · 21/10/2011 14:45

Stasi I am taking my BBT & checking CM & have been for the past 9 cycles (although one cycle we didn't actually manage to have SWI at the right time as my DH was ill). Unfortunately my BBT seems to be quite erractic & some months follows no pattern at all so I'm not sure if that is a bad sign or not but my I do tend to get EWCM for a few days around days 9 to 12/13 of my cycle so hopefully this points to me ovulating each month Confused.
I got a positive OPK today so lots of fun planned for my weekend :o
How long have you been charting for?

Chutneyandcheese · 21/10/2011 15:15

Thanks Stasi! This will be the 3rd month properly trying but i've been thinking about it for ages so it feels alot longer!

My AF is pretty irregular. Anywhere from 29 - 41 days and there is a history of PCOS in my family so i'm a bit fearful of that. I've given myself until next year to try and regulate AF and TTC and if nothing happens then i'll perhaps think about tests etc.

And to answer your question Stasi, I'm checking CM and keeping an eye on AF patterns but not much more than that. I'm slightly affraid of the whole temping/OPK's thing as I have a tendency to obsess.......

Anyone following a strict diet? Been doing some reading on this (in relation to potential PCOS) and there's so much info out there i'm feeling a bit overwhelmed!

Stasi · 21/10/2011 16:15

I've been charting my AF and SWI since Aug 2010, but didn't start tracking my temp till Apr 2011. My first month of temp taking was really erratic, but I was taking it in the morning when I went downstairs, rather than still in bed as soon as the alarm goes off.

I've not always taken my temp every day, mostly when I'm on holiday and know it's not the right time of the month. Sometimes I take it but dont record it, as my temps are consistent enough I can generally know without a chart what it means. I really like having my BBT chart, it's reassuring for me to see a pattern each month, and it seems to show I ovulate every month, though not always at the same time, ovulation seems to be anywhere between day 14 and 18 for me, with cycle length varying between 26 and 30 days. I also think it will help when I go to the doctor and show them records of the last few months, rather than anecdotal 'evidence' about how we've been trying real hard.

CM is something I'm a bit more inconsistent with. I find it hard to put what I'm observing into the categories given. I admit I also find it just a little bit yuk, and a weird thing to be thinking about and analysing every day. If I start my AF this weekend I think I'm going to buy a fertility monitor and a proper BBT thermometer (I'm just using a standard digital one with accuracy of 0.1). It's my 15th cycle now, so I think it's about time I forked out loads of money - hopefully it'll all be a waste and I'll be pg this month :)

I really want to get a BFP next month, that way any baby born will have been conceived on our honeymoon, the way it 'should' be.

Timtam78 · 21/10/2011 18:50

Welcome to the newbies, hope you're not here for long! Wink:

I've been charting too, only stopped my pill at the beginning of August and on my second cycle. I've just had my first confirmed ovulation (confirmed by temps) so officially in my first 2ww and I think we timed SWI ok. I'm trying not to be too excited in the countdown, but its so hard not to be!

Just feels good that my body SEEMS to be working ok this month even though my cycles so far are at least 40 days

Stasi · 23/10/2011 09:50

Good luck Timtam, hope the 2ww goes quickly with a nice BFP at the end!

I'm back to CD1 today however, just woke up my OH with a kiss and a cup of tea. I hope he realises that'll all be changing forever once I get my BFP. Late nights and late mornings will become but a distant memory, at least until the kids become teenagers! It's strange the things you look forward to isn't it?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
