Readynow I hear you re: SWI in a tent. We've just got back from a camping holiday, in a very crowded field right up against lots of other tents. No way was anything sexy going to happen. Never mind that mud and mosquitoes and saggy air mattresses are not exactly erotic-making anyway.

Pipbin · 23/08/2011 23:02

Is it me or is everything on TV about babies right now?

cookiemoo · 23/08/2011 23:32

Yep pippin I'm guessing you've just been watching the programme on surrogacy, I spent most of it crying!! Knew I shouldn't have had that extra glass of wine!

CaveMum · 24/08/2011 08:19

I have to say, at the moment I'm doing well on the tv babies front. Last year, when I came off the Pill and we started on this epic TTC journey it seemed that every programme I watched had someone who was TTC or having a baby. The worst culprits were How I Met Your Mother, though it is refreshing to see a tv couple not conceive at the drop of a hat; good old reruns of Friends and of course One Born Every Minute, though I've only myself to blame for watching that!

I'm coping quite well at the moment though, perhaps it is because everything seems to be working out for us, be it my cycles have now sorted themselves naturally or I still need the Clomid. I'm happy to put my positive hat on for now!

TV babies - just watched Cherry's parenting (on iplayer - think was on BBC3...) and Underage and Pregnant... good lord! what an eye opener...

And SWI in a tent- we're going to stay in a luxurious hotel this weekend (wedding gift voucher) - to start off our SWI in style - then going camping for our holidays.... but am determined to make the inside of a tent sexy somehow! Grin
I told DH that we'd be having SWI on holiday and he thought I meant we'd be having sex within a tent... and couldn't understand why I was pointing it out - obvious innit? Grin

bradderswantsababy · 24/08/2011 10:11

I have a couple of questions I hope one of you lovely ladies could help me with......

yesterday I decided to buy the clear blue OV tester kit (OMG how expensive!!) As I only came off the pill at the start of Aug dont really know when/if I will OV and as I was feeling crampy and my cm seemed to say it was happening so decided to POAS. The test prove inconclusive as neither of the lines showed up?? has this happened to anyone else?

second question is has anyone on pregnacare noticed that their wee smells odd? I have been taking them for 3 weeks and ever noticed the smell until my last wee 10 mins ago? I drink lots of water and didnt eat any of the usual suspects (sugar puffs/asparagus) Confused

desperateoldie67 · 24/08/2011 10:21

Hi bradders - can't help you with the OV tester kit, but if the control line didn't come up it sounds like it was either a duff one, or you didn't pee on it enough LOL!

I've not noticed smelly wee since being on Pregnacare...but then I've got a notoriously rubbish sense of smell!

Asparagus is just WRONG!!! :o

The funny smell ( I have it too) is from the B vitamins - we're just peeing them out... I think it is thiamine maybe? Slightly malty smell? Normal I believe...
I'm a medic and when I was an intern and alcoholics were admitted we had to give them super doses of the B vitamins as they were usually deficient and it can cause neurological problems - they smelled the same IIRC Smile
not sure about the OV tester kit, sorry!

musicalmrs · 24/08/2011 12:04

I've been doing quite well with the baby tv! I used to find it more painful when I was desperate for a baby but DH wanted to wait.. now he's decided he's ready I don't find them as bad - because even if this process takes a long time and we require extra assistance, at least we're on our way! (at least, that's how I feel now - may be completely different in a couple of months!).

Used to have the same funny smell from taking vitamin supplements! Not anymore, but that might be because I've been taking them a while and am used to the smell...

desperateoldie67 · 24/08/2011 12:19

Talking of baby tv...you know you want a baby when...all those videos of women actually giving birth don't actually scare you shitless anymore! :o

Readynow · 24/08/2011 14:04

Bradders not sure why the CB OPK control line did not work. Confused I have used these for a while now & all OK but I do use a piss pot (tmi) rather than piss directly on the stick. If you get pee on the wrong bit it can stop it working properly I think.
I am a bit confused about my cycle this month. Usually I get EWCM, temp drop & positive OPK either CD11 or 12 (has been this for the past 6 cycles) but this month I have started getting EWCM CD6 & had a large temp drop yesterday (CD7), which usually shows on my chart the day before or day of OV? Does anyone else OV at irregular times in their cycle even though they have a reglar cycle?

bradderswantsababy · 24/08/2011 14:04

desperate your probably right I haven't got the knack of POAS with the correct aim I think next time I will collect it then do the test.

Thanks mellow boo to having wee that smells but at least I know its nothing nasty

Just had chip shop chips for lunch we super yummy but not great for a Wednesday Lunch!! Blush

bradderswantsababy · 24/08/2011 14:11

J4D3 · 25/08/2011 08:54

Morning ladies! Hope everyone is doing ok? I'm 9 DPO atm and I can't take this waiting malarkey any longer! Noticed a few signs during the week. The most noticeable was sore boobs. The cat decided to jump on my chest last night and it HURT! The husband has also noticed that they're more than a handful too (sorry if that's TMI)! So I've peed in a cup and am going to pop to Tesco soon... here's to hoping! Wine

J4D3 · 25/08/2011 09:43

BFN! Was probably too early anyway...

desperateoldie67 · 25/08/2011 10:26

Don't worry J4D3, 9DPO is pretty early. You still may be in with a shout. Don't expect DH was complaining about the girls being 'more than a handful' :o

Fingers crossed for you :)

Prunella79 · 25/08/2011 13:03

i'm with you j4d3, the wait is excrutiating.
as i don't know a regular date for AF when on earth do i test? i'm figuring if i had a 'normal' cycle (if there is such a thing) i would think of testing from CD24 maybe. i'm pretty sure i'll be 14dpo by then - would this be too soon or do i need to know for sure that AF is late (though i've no idea how i can know this having not had a proper period for 15 years whilst on the pill and random cycles before that).
really i just want to test now now now but it'd surely be BFN regardless
argh

vanfurgston · 25/08/2011 13:41

j4d3 try taking it easy. waiting is a pain but as u say its pretty early so u still may have a shot

CaveMum · 25/08/2011 13:58

Really you shouldn't test until at least 14 dpo, there is still a high risk of a false negative any earlier, even with the so-called "early response" tests.

I know the temptation is always there to test and test and test, but think of the money you are wasting on tests. I remember another Frolicker (now graduated) who kept a used test and whenever she felt she had to pee on a stick she just got the old one out again! It meant she got the urge out of her system without wasting money!

jd43 I agree with desperate your still in with a chance fingers crossed for you.

I have been trying to log the feel of my cervix and its proving mighty difficult! As said in other threads mine is never in the same place for long in that in the am its low and btm lip like and in the pm its high and tip of nose like??? and is it just the opening to the cervix your meant to check or the area the opening is on as well??? Confused

FloydieDoydie · 25/08/2011 15:22

Helloooo laydies! Well, I miss a month and pow - BFPs all over the shop!

I went quiet for a while to try and stop myself obsessing, but that didn't work so sod it, I'm back Grin

Bit of a mixed up month; just got AF earlier than I expected Sad, though why though i could predict when she would arrive I have no idea. Still, better early than massively long cycles without a BPF.

Wasn't really much hope this month anyway due to reduced SWI, I was away for a few days and himself has been knackered. Need to up the stakes next month! (although I seem to recall saying that last month too..!)

Pipbin · 25/08/2011 15:25

Well I've just had my first ever positive opk! Hurrah for that. I was going to give up on Internet cheap tests too.
Anyway, does this mean I need to get on with the job in had ASAP?

Readynow · 25/08/2011 16:06

Pipbin When you get a positive OPK get on with SWI straight away as you could ovulate anytime in the next 36 hours (as far as I know anyway!). From what I've read you should SWI today, tomorrow & the nxt day to be sure you cover all bases! Looks like you have a fun weekend ahead! :o
