Hi googie, welcome. Sorry for your loss. I would advise you to wait till you've had a bfn, for me that took 2 1/2 weeks. By doing weekly tests you can check that everything's gone, and if you get a bfp you know it's a new pregnancy.

ciwi · 22/05/2011 21:19

Hi again,
Olismum - Thanks but I am really TRYING to chill out about it all and not track my cycles too much plus I am not sure whats going on with them yet as have had 2 af's this month! We have spent all our married life (just over a year) either being pregnant or trying and I feel like we just need to concentrate on ourselves a bit and when it happens it happens - will see how long that lasts -lol!
Googie - sorry for your loss but try and stay positive. I know its hard and I worry I won't ever have a baby too but you just need to believe. you have been pregnant once and can do it again x
olismum - Maybe you should get your thyroid checked again. there is some evidence that some people need a good thyroid level to concieve maybe you need treatment for it? I think thyroid function can affect progesterone too so it may be worth a chat to your GP. I have been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid recently so i know a bit about it x

olismum23 · 23/05/2011 12:24

Welcome googie you will find great support and compassion on this thread.

No worries ciwi

Hello all, and thanks for the warm welcome.

How long did you all wait after MC to start again? There seems so much conflicting info and it would be awful to either miss the boost in fertility or to start too quick and then MC again.

googie I waited till i had a BFN on a pregnancy test and just started again 2 of the girls who MC at the same time on this thread fell pregnant straight away and as far as i know are doing great! I would say when your ready is the most important though.

OP posts:
meliesmummy · 23/05/2011 13:05

Hi everyone!

Which brand are you using olis? might be worth trying a more expensive one?

googie we started trying straight after I got a bfn but my cycles took until last month to get back to normal.

loup how did it go with the consultant?

How are you stitch?

Any more pains lily and laylas and bump?

Waves to ciwi piglet and everyone else x

Nothing new to report here, just a rainy Monday.

CollieandPup · 23/05/2011 13:08

Good luck sweet.

olis 10dpo is still very early. I it takes much longer for me to show any lines. Your ov was late too right so maybe this months cycle is longer.

ciwi cuttle and googie so sorry for your losses. This is a lovely thread with so much support.

googie as olis said you should def make sure you get a bfn before you start to ttc again. Did you mc naturally or have an ERPC? Some healthcare professionals say wait 1 month after a natural mc but i think this is for dating purposes. Its safe to ttc when you are ready. If you have had a erpc it might be worth waiting for at least one cycle to let the lining re-build - think professionals advise 3 months but that seems a lot to me. But more than anything you should wait until you are ready. I mc in late dec and had to wait once cycle as dh was working away. At the time i was anxious to ttc straight away, but in the end i was glad we waited one cycle as it gave me the time to grieve properly for my loss. I got a bfp again after my fist cycle.

Here as a link for the newbies to SMEP - the sperm meets egg plan. its requires lots of dtd but it resulted in a lot of bfps for many of us!

Hope lily and layas are ok. I am sure i've missed your posts on the other thread. Its been so busy and sad over there the past week. lily were you stressing about lack of symptoms? The only thing I had in the early weeks was swollen boobs and pains. Not sore, no cravings, no sickess etc. All kicked in about 61/2 weeks.

laylasmummy09 · 23/05/2011 13:25

hi everyone, just posted on the other thread but as collie said its been so busy and sad, no pains today just feeling a bit groggy and no appitite, just spoke to my midwife and she wants to book me in on thurs and is usingdates of my last af even though i no im only 5+1 at the most this would make me 10+3 and that is going to make scans very difficult cant wait for some ms so i actually feel pregnant, i hope everyone is having an easy day x

googietheegg · 23/05/2011 13:30

Thanks all for the info. Looks like it's a BFN as a minimum. I was given misoprostol for a MMC, but it was the sort that I had to take orally twice three times a day, and today is the last of the seven days. I'm thinking we'll prob wait until one month has passed just so I don't have something else to worry about. I'm so pleased I've found this thread as the few people we'd told in RL haven't even contacted me, and I've felt so alone.

CollieandPup · 23/05/2011 13:44

layas i'm really Shock at your mw (although i shouldn't be as i've had many an agrugement about them using my lmp date as i have a very long cycle). I'm not really sure what to say. If you are particulary unhappy, you could go for your booking in next week and make it very clear to the mw that you are not happy using those dates and you don't want a scan until later - i.e. when you're 12 weeks, by your dates. At the end of the day they cannot make you go. Or, you could go for your scan, well prepared for them being confused at a small baby - perhaps even prepare the sonographer for it before she scans you. That way, you get an early reassurance scan out of it too???

googie i am so sorry you feel so alone. Its very natural though to feel that way. I felt exactly the same after my mc and was reassured by people on here that it was not uncommon. I too felt really disappointed by some friends who i told about my mc - not contacting me or even having much recognition of what i was going through - and don't get me started on the stupid comments like 'well at least you know you can get pg' all unhelpful but seemingly more common than you'd think. I think some people just don't understand how painful the loss is, and others just don't know what to say. Don't go through it alone though, feel free to use this thread as a place to cry and rant if you need to - i have certainly done my fair share of that over the past 6 months. We all understand completely how you feel, and we're here to help you get through it. xx

ciwi · 23/05/2011 13:44

Hi googie - I had the tablet too but bled too much and had to be admitted. I waited 2 weeks for it to happen naturally but it just wouldn't. I waited for a bfn too but i had a period 4 weeks after my mc and then 2 weeks after that again. Hope this is a normal cycle now! Is anyone else anxious about trying again? I am not sure I could handle another loss but I need to try so I can bring a baby home one day. Must think positive though!

stitchinline · 23/05/2011 14:02

Hi all

Spent a lovely weekend in the garden making it all nice and ready for summertime.

dh wan't up for dtd last night so was v. grumpy when I went to bed, not a good way to start the week

melies am ok but my body is confusing me as usual, bleeding only lasted 2 days and was really light? no spotting before or after and the pain was as bad as usual and then today started to get cramps again but no more bleeding? my body really sucks sometimes

googie I agree about waiting for the BFN, sorry you are here but this thread has been great as I didn't really tell many people in RL and is nice to be able to ask random questions and not get treated like an eejit and the support is brilliant

olis still fx for you as still early days

loup hope you got some answers at the consultant

lily, bump and piglet hope all is very uneventful for you at the moment and stays that way

laylas very confusing of the m/w Confused

ciwi and cuttle hope you are both doing as well as you can be

waves to anyone I missed

laylasmummy09 · 23/05/2011 14:33

yes collie ill proberbly have a chat with the sonographer and see if i can get another scan a few weeks later my first loss was at 8 weeks so i deffinitely want one after that point, i am usually scanned internally as i have a tilted uterus so i should hopefully be able to see a heartbeat if theres one there, i might have driven myself mad by then though Smile sorry your week didnt get off to a good start stitch but glad you had a nice weekend x

CollieandPup · 23/05/2011 14:37

layas if you would only be 7 weeks at the scan they would need to scan you again at 12 weeks. Are you having the NT? If so this needs to be done at 11-14 weeks so they'd need you back then, but even if not, they'd need you back to date you more accuratley. I had a scan at 6+1 which was obv early but it didn't effect my 12 week scan.

olismum23 · 23/05/2011 14:38

I am going to get a blood test done at least if it is the same as before we might get something to help and if not we can just go on keep doing the deed.

OP posts:
googietheegg · 23/05/2011 14:39

Can anyone tell me how long they had tummy aches for after MC? I'm only a week after a mmc, but my stomach is still bloated and painful, and I look like I've put on half a stone, which is a lovely little gift after all this!!

Collie and Stich - thanks so much for the kind words. This thread is sooo brilliant - shame we're all here, but we are, so at least we can get some support.

MollyDefoe · 23/05/2011 14:52

Hi all -

Do you mind if I join this thread? I had an early MC at the beginning of May (was only about 5 weeks pg). Now I have no idea what's happening with my cycle (although that's usual, isn't it?) - I'm using a fertility monitor, and have had 'high' readings for the last 11 days! I think DP and I feel ready to starting trying again straight away, but it's a bit difficult, seeing as I have no idea whether I'm fertile or not atm!

googie, ciwi and cuttle I'm so sorry for your losses.

ciwi · 23/05/2011 14:58

Good luck with your bloods olismum. what are you getting tested for? I dont feel like i have had all the mc tests. have any of you had investigations as to why you miscarried?

laylasmummy09 · 23/05/2011 15:54

ciwi ive not had any tests yet as i have only had 2 mc but if i have anoyther i will be pushing for as many as possible although the doc has said there wont be much they can do for me as i already have 1 dd
sorry for your loss molly but glad you found us this is a lovely supportive thread, as long as you have had a negative test its fine to start ttc, i was in your position with fertility monitor only i was using sticks wich were constantly positive so i gave up and fell pregnant anyway,
good luck with your bloods olis,
collie i will be going for nt but i had forgotten when they do it so hopefully ill still get the extra scan, i would have gone private if not, x

meliesmummy · 23/05/2011 16:53

Gosh, busy afternoon on here!

Molly welcome and sorry for your loss. It's called the wtf cycle for precisely that reason! I would go for it and hope something comes of it.

Laylas think of it as an extra reassurance scan, when you are proved right hopefully they will offer you another 12 week one at the proper time. We don't get nuchal scans here :(

ciwi, I haven't been offered anything, they make you wait for 3 before they do any tests :(

Googie I had lower backache for a few weeks after mine, I guess it takes a while for everything to go back to where it should be.

Waves to collie, lovely to see you! And Olis and stitch too x

CollieandPup · 23/05/2011 17:13

just realised the begning of my first post is missing Confused

It said something like.....

Sorry i've not been posting, but i've been lurking lots.

mels really glad the not opking etc really seems to be working for you - into the 2ww without even realising.....the 'good luck sweet' was for you [smie] xx

stitchinline · 23/05/2011 17:29

Molly welcome, i think as long as you have had a negative test and are no longer bleeding there is no reason to not start going again

googie my pains stopped when I stopped bleeding after my mc but I get really bloated before, during and after AF (basically all the time) still had cramps for a bit after too.

ciwi have been told will be referred for tests if I have another mc (3) I do have antiphospholipid syndrome (hughes/sticky blood) which is one of the things they do test for but have been treated for in both pg and as that didn't prevent mc is either something else or just plain old bad luck

Bumpwanted · 23/05/2011 17:29

Afternoon ladies

Hope you are all good. Welcome to the newbies! Sorry you are hear under such rubbish circumstances but the ladies on this thread are really lovely and a great source of support.

Sorry not to name check. I didn't sleep well last night - really weird dreams and up to pee 3 or 4 times. Still no pain last night which is good. Still getting them pretty regularly though for anyone else who is worried about cramping although not as bad as that first week around when I should have been having my AF. I'm 7 weeks today and got a scan next wed to see if there is anything there...am really nervous its going to be an empty sac. Plus my friend (who doesn't know I am pregnant) told me about two of her other friends who had MC at 7 weeks so I feel a bit like I might not even make it to the scan.

Hi to Loup Mels Olis Stitch Collie Layla and everyone else
xxx

lily06 · 23/05/2011 20:19

Evening ladies,

Mel glad you are already into the 2ww, fx for you.

Welcome Googie and Mollie.

Collie thanks for asking after me, yes, bit stressed over lack of symptoms here, but also worrying a bit about twinges etc. Just want to get the first scan over and done with and make sure its in the right place this time. I haven't felt right posting on the other thread with all that's going on over there at the moment, my twinges seem a bit trivial in comparrison.

Laylas your midwife does sound a bit daft - surely she can accept that you know your body best and your dates will be right. I agree with the others - have the early scan and tell them what you think beforehand.

Stitch sorry your DH wasn't co-operative. I had that issue a lot, though did find he was more willing in the morning that the evening (made me late for work, but worth it!).

Bump sorry you had a bad night, glad your pain is better though. What day next week is your scan? Mine is on Thurs.

Olis really hoping you will see a bfp very soon, have you tried a digi?

Piglet how are things with you today?

Not too much new with me, pains have subsided now except when I stand up quickly or cough, it feels like things are knotted up a bit and was quite bad earlier.
