Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

See here for the old thread.

Dachs Just trying to catch up on the news and wanted to say I'm thinking of you. I had DD at UCH in Feb 2009, three months after the new building opened so obviously it was v clean and I found the care good. I was discharged the same day but then re-admitted five days later as we had feeding issues and ended up in a private room for three further nights. The care in the post-natal ward was excellent then and the staff were absolutely lovely. I know that they have a brilliant reputation for neo-nates (one of best in the country, iirc) but I'm afraid I don't have much experience of the gynae ward (other than an ERPC last Aug but even then I couldn't fault them). I will hopefully be going back there if this pg gets that far.

My SIL is a paedeatrician currently based at the Homerton but she has worked in various London neo-nate wards as part of her training. I've just sent her a text to ask her opinion on UCH versus St Mary's (she knows about your situation as I was chatting to her about earlier in the week.) As soon as I get a reply I'll let you know xx Big hugs to you, DH, Alexander and Felicia x

getawiggleon · 19/05/2011 17:37

Just to second Knitter's friend. I did a tour of St Mary's when I was pg with DD but chose UCH on the basis wards were brand new and therefore cleaner.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 19/05/2011 17:44

Lily - Was I meant to keep that little bit added on the bottom? Sorry I missed it off Blush

lily06 · 19/05/2011 17:47

Coconuts don't worry about, I wanted to add myself in and spotted it at the same time.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 19/05/2011 17:54

I gather it's for those that have sadly mc'd while being on this thread? Sad

I 'know' ladybee from the RMC thread. Sad

getawiggleon · 19/05/2011 17:55

Sorry, just wanted to say Dachs I hope my last posts didn't sound too interfering and I don't want to make what is already a tough decision for you even harder. I was just trying to help. Tell me to get lost if you don't want SIL's opinion though, I won't be offended!

mousebacon · 19/05/2011 18:04

Just popping in to say hello to dachs

Would you like some post? We could all start sending cards/letters/parcels of cake to the hospital. I still feel positive for you and the pups. I really hope you don't have to move but if you do it looks like the ladies on here have lots of info. Sadly my knowledge stretches only to the RVI newcastle [useless emoticon]

Much love xx Were there any scan dudes today? X

pigletmania · 19/05/2011 18:18

How are you Dachs still thinking of you btw, sorry I post late as during the day I have my i phone

pigletmania · 19/05/2011 18:18

and its a nightmare to post anything on

Blackkat · 19/05/2011 19:49

Dachs thinking of you - if mouse's idea works for you then pls do let us all know Smile

Quick question from me; I've got chronic stomach ache, like trapped wind but gurgling around all around my stomach and down into where bean is- this is normal isn't it? DH thinks I'm being silly. Confused Stupid question but every little niggle and I'm a'freakin out.

Velvetcu · 19/05/2011 20:26

dachs its understandable you are feeling down but every day you get through is good news.

Once again you lot have chatted for England!

I'm a bit :( this evening - it's 1 year since my mmc scan. I've ben so busy worrying about dachs and then hectic BTEC deadlines at work today + yr 10 parents eve that I haven't paid it much thought til I sat down about an hour ago. I don't really know what to do - I fell like having a good sob but then feel a bit silly for feeling like that!

lily06 · 19/05/2011 20:36

Coconuts yes that's right. Good luck for your scan tomorrow.

StillJustAboutDiffedDachs · 19/05/2011 20:38

Thanks all! :) sorry for thread hogging again.

knitter I really appreciate you posting for me after everything you've been through. Hope you're holding up ok.

wiggle all info gratefully received!

mouse fab and v thoughtful idea but I don't know how long I'm going to be here so the post might not make it

DH has just left for the night so I now have an appointment with crap tv. It's not until you're stuck in bed with nothing to do that you realise quote how crap tv is. And how many babies there are on it.

StillJustAboutDiffedDachs · 19/05/2011 20:39

velvet if you feel like sobbIng then have a good sob! :)

luckyfor2 · 19/05/2011 20:43

Blackkat I had that on Tuesday after eating chillie and beans in the same day, it kept me awake all night but once all the gas came out (sorry tmi!) it went thank goodness, smell wasn't good either [embarrassed]

harassedinherpants · 19/05/2011 20:51

Blackkat sounds like wind lovely. Have you got a hot water bottle (warm not hot!)? Some of the bog standard Gaviscon?

Dachs it is indeed crap!!! Do you have a Kindle or a net book?? You must be bored to tears...... And yes there are a lot babies, and shitty mums that make you want to shout at the tv! If I can send you some mags or something just shout.

Velvet have a good sob if that's what you need. Sometimes it's the only thing that makes me feel better.

Don't tell dh but I've been dunking cheese straws in the marmite jar Wink. My tummy is really bloated and he says it's the crap I'm eating..... not the greatest thing to say to a hormonal and irrational woman.... Prob is he's got really fit in the last year and lost shed loads of weight, whereas I haven't and put on weight comfort eating in Jan & March after the mc's and now just eat what I have to stop the sickness. I do want to lose weight, but obviously have other priorities at the moment!! I was fuming.......

mousebacon · 19/05/2011 20:52

Ok dachs no worries but if you move (or get the all clear to stay put) prepare to be bombarded! We are all behind you xx

velvet my dear there's no harm in crying, it's part of remembering what we have lost.

Mucho love all round xx

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 19/05/2011 21:34

Big ((hug)) for velvet - don't feel bad if you need a good cry, sometimes you need to let yourself grieve x

dachs no change is good, let's hope it continues. I'm afraid I don't know either of those hospitals but you're getting some good feedback on here. Remember wherever you are we're all here for you x

mamarara · 19/05/2011 21:42

Evening ladies
dachs thinking of you. Hope MrDachs has been able to knock some sense into Bupa. Although I am sure you will receive amazing care with the nhs. Hope you're feeling as well as you can. As the others say you are doing so brilliantly under such horrendous circumstances.

I am having a haddock day today. For no reason whatsoever have decided it is all over and am feeling incredibly down about it. Need a slap. Was going to add myself to the list but couldn't face it.

Hope the rest of you are all well. Good luck for any up coming scans. And is so lovely to hear good news about scans that have happened.

mamarara · 19/05/2011 21:46

Sorry missed your post somehow velvet - crappy iPhone scrolling. Nothing wrong with a good cry now and then. Go and watch a soppy tv programme to really get the tears going - you might feel loads better after!

PinkFondantFancy · 19/05/2011 21:49

blackkat are you hungry? I don't think it's anything sinister, if youre anything like me you're probably due a big chuff Grin

Lara those m&s ads have been torturing me too!

coconuts good work on adding yourself to the list! When is your scan? I was freaking out before mine too. Like the others say, it does get easier to not be in denial about being pregnant after the 20 week scan but I'm still too chicken to buy anything yet.

lily it's tough but concentrate on getting through each day rather than looking at the scan on the horizon-it makes it seem less far away that way.

knitter lovely to hear from you, hope you're doing ok.

Hi laylasmummy the CB digis are a bit dodgy and so if you dont get a 3+ when you were expecting, don't panic as it doesn't mean it's all gone wrong! Feel free to stick around if you fancy!

collie has DH been to any of your scans with you? My DH became more open about the baby after the 12 week scan-I guess he found it easier to believe in after that?

dacha I second mousey-once you're certain where you're going to be, prepare to be bombarded!

UrbanLolly · 19/05/2011 22:20

Just Poking head round door to wish dachs a peaceful night....Thinking of you, dh and the twins xxxx

getawiggleon · 19/05/2011 22:57

Also popping back in to wish Dachs a calm, uneventful night. My sil recommends UCH xx

Hugs too for velvet. Don't be afraid to let it all out, it's perfectly natural to feel the way you do x

OrangeGloss · 20/05/2011 05:41

Dachs I hope you had a relatively ok night. If it's any consolation I went to see Pirates of the Caribean and it was so shite I fell asleep Blush :)

I have a huge collection of audio books and films from my commuting days, so can happily burn some DVDs if you want :)

Velvet it's not silly at all, sometimes a good cry can help

Mamarara please stand still whilst I scattergun you with this freshly chopped sushi. You can add yourself to the list as I will wave this hot poker so the jinx pixies can't get you. Actually, I thought they'd been banned from this thread anyway...

PinkFondantFancy · 20/05/2011 06:42

orange pirates of the caribbean was.... what????!?! Rubbish??? Nooooooo say it's not true!!! I really really really really really want to go and see it! Surely if Johnny Depp's still in it, it can't be that bad??
