Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

See here for the old thread.

Thanks bump i was the same early on, couldn't face telling anyone. You are probably right, although of course he refuses to admit its because hes scared of it going wrong. On the otherhand though he is really very positive about this pg, has been from very early on. Says he has a 'good feeling about it'. He's so excited about the pg, in the privacy of our home. He buys me little gifts all the time and gives them to me when i've had 'sick' days. And i understand him not wanting to tell everyone, but not telling anyone ever ? Right now i think he'd happily let me have it, before he told people!!! Maybe you are right and he'll tell one person and then another...

Dachs stay positive honey... you are still updiffed and we've all got our fingers crossed.... Love and strength to the four of you...

harassedinherpants · 19/05/2011 12:49

Coconuts I'm so glad you found us! Sounds like you've had a tough time, but mentalling is totally normal Grin.

Collie Hmm, well tbh I don't men actually "get" the whole prg thing in the same way as us neurotic women. I know dh was devastated when we lost our 2 beans, but not in the same way as me. Of course he could be doing the very common (amongst us!) self defence type thing...... if he doesn't acknowledge it, doesn't tell anyone, then it won't hurt so much when it goes wrong. I'd just let him carry on for a bit longer, and I'm sure as you get further along he'll feel more confident. Incidentally, I'm all for telling dd after our scan yesterday but dh doesn't want to. I think she's guessed tbh, she's not daft our dd!

Laylas lovely to see you here, congratulations!!

Lara you make me smile so much......that's all Grin! No it's not actually, I went to sodding M&S to get that giant ravioli, but my stupid crappy one doesn't do it..... I could have cried.

Dh and I have decided not to have any NT tests done. Not the nuchal fold measured.....nothing. Of course any things like heart defects will be picked up and we'll then go along with that and what's required. But we both (and dh in particular) feel that we'll very cope with whatever hand we're dealt. The thing is, we've discussed many times what we would do if we had bas results and we wouldn't want to risk an amnio or cvs. It's not for religious reasons or anything like that, just how we feel. We did the same with dd. Am I nuts?? My mum certainly thinks so...... But I think we're going into it with our eyes wide open.

katherine2008 · 19/05/2011 12:50

knitter how are you doing hun? hope you are ok. x

StillJustAboutDiffedDachs · 19/05/2011 12:51

Really struggling today. Am just feeling lonely and miserable and hopeless.

lily06 · 19/05/2011 13:07

Afternoon ladies,

Dachs you poor thing, keeping everything crossed for you.

I have a scan arranged for two weeks today, at exactly seven weeks. So scared there will be a) nothing there or b) it will be in the wrong place again. How do I get through the next fortnight? Only DH knows at the moment, haven't told my mum yet despite the fact that we work together.

wombatinwaiting · 19/05/2011 13:09

I'm not surprised dachs - you've been on absolute rollercoaster of emotions these last few days and I imagine it must be so frustrating not having any definitive answers. There's so many different things you must be feeling right now plus I'm sure your sleep must be interrrupted. Be gentle on yourself and take as much love as you can from loved ones. Sending loads of warm wishes to you all xx

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 19/05/2011 13:14

dachs I'm sorry you're feeling so down, but not surprised - the stress itself must have been absolutely exhausting over the last few days. Those babies are fighters and every day, every hour further you get is another step closer to things working out. Try not to worry too much re the insurance and let dh/hospital deal with that. Sending you a huge virtual (((hug))), lovely xxx

dooscooby · 19/05/2011 13:17

oh dachs sending you much love. These last few days must have been unimaginably tough for you, the constantly changing scenario and subsequent emotions will really be taking it out of you and I'm not suprised that you're feeling miserable. Do you have any company during the day?
Keep fighting, you're doing amazingly xxx

LaraMi · 19/05/2011 13:18

Lily - we all felt / feel like that.... 7 weeks is a fab time to have the scan. If I need cheering up I look at the grads section and see how many ladies have gone through what we're going through and come out of it with beautiful, healthy babies.

WIW - keep away from those construction sites. Am worried about you in that heat.

Knitter - big hugs - you're one tough cookie. Thought about you when I was in your part of SW London the other day.

Dachs - you are still updiffed and you have great care. Just hang on in there.

Harassed - you're not nuts. Well you are, but not about that. We are all different and if I recall, there are lots of ladies that made the same decision as you and went on to have healthy little ones. Ooohhh - just to tantalise you... guess what I'm about to put in the microwave?!?! (yes, seriously... it's still well in date, I just didn't get to eat it yet). With any luck it will be a huge anti-climax and then you won't need to go wasting your time traipsing around M&S branches.

Have been to fetch DD and took her for ice cream. Mmmm, italian ice cream with nuts on :) Fancy a sandwich but DH has eaten all the bread and can't be arsed to go back up town. Grr. Typical! Feeling a bit better now, hope I can get through the rest of the day.

Dachs, sorry you're feeling so low, it's to be expected tho, you've had a crazy few days.

Thanks for everyone's lovely supportive messages and welcome. I shall like it here I think Grin

CollieandPup · 19/05/2011 13:19

Dachs ((Hugs)) I'm not suprised either, you have really been through it these past couple of days. Is dh not with you today? Any news from the crapy BUPA? What hospital are you in? I wish there was something we could do for you. You've been so incredibly strong these past few days, Alexander and Felica clearly take after you, the little fighters that they are. Keep strong dachs, we are all so desperatley rooting for the four of you. xxxx

Katherine and lara I'm doing ok thanks... making new friends on the 'support post-termiantion' thread and in the 'common-room'... actually quite a few of them in the 'common-room' are old friends:) Wish I was still on here with you all though... Soon... Soon... Soon...

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 19/05/2011 13:42

Blackkat - I think when you are pregnant the FSH and LH aren't produced in the same way that they are when you are not pregnant so the follicles don't grow as much. I may be wrong but it would explain why a woman doesn't ovulate when pregnant. I'll have to dig out my books and have another read. At my 12 week scan they checked my ovaries and they appeared normal and my corpus luteum had srunken normally so perhaps if the pregnancy is a successful one the ovarian problems of PCOS temporarily disappear.

IreneHeron · 19/05/2011 13:46

Hang on in there Dachs, you've made it this far, you're obviously strong.

Having people from the telly box coming in this afternoon, they're filming 4 in a Bed in our conservatory. We've had a contestant staying with us this week, she stayed in another local B&B last night and is having her interview at our house, a neutral place. Have been cleaning and tidying like a demon.

Have been thinking of joining the grads thread soon. I'm getting my head round to it.

LaraMi · 19/05/2011 13:51

Cool - so we are temporarily PCOS-free? I was taking Metformin til yesterday (on a reduced dosage) but have now stopped (which has given me something else to worry about).

Harassed - you HAVE to hunt high and low for that pasta. It was mega. Everything you'd want giant spinach and ricotta ravioli with tomato and garlic sauce, toasted pine-nuts, spinach and a smattering of mozzerella (!!!) to be and more. Bloody awesome. Now am well equipped for a post-lunch, working from home snooze shortly.

Knitter - you will be back here properly soon but in the meantime, we love you staying here to chat.

Blackkat · 19/05/2011 13:52

knitter your spot is reserved Smile (alongside some other notable reserved spots) Smile

irene I hope those grasping tv types are paying you a location fee (they should be even if it's only £30, they'll plug their lights into your power or charge their camera batteries for sure), and make sure you read the small print of any release form they give you. [ex-tv producer emoticon]

Coconuts thanks, perhaps that's it... I'll keep my FX it carries on

LaraMi · 19/05/2011 13:53

Irene - xpost - I love that show (well really, anything low-brow that can be passed off as reality TV). You have a B&B too? You must send us the link! Sounds very stressful having a film crew over. I can barely cope with neighbours right now.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 19/05/2011 14:04

Lara - Don't take my word for it! Perhaps you can ask your gynae/obs next time you see them. I presume you're consultant led due to the meds? I never got round to getting metformin as my BFP came about 3 days before my appointment for meds. Sod's law! Are you only meant to take metformin until 12weeks?

Surprising how many of us here have PCOS.

That pasta you and harrassed are talking about sounds seriously lovely. M&S did you say?

harassedinherpants · 19/05/2011 14:06

Dachs you're doing marvellously well lovely! Whereabouts are you?? I would come and chat nonsense to you all afternoon Grin.

Lara you are evil and I'm Envy...... and that's no ms!!!

Knitter looking forward to your return!

Irene sounds stressful, make sure they wipe their feet.

Actually I have no idea what 4 in a bed is, someone tell me please?!

harassedinherpants · 19/05/2011 14:07

Have you not seen the ads Coconut?? I practically drool over the tv...

I had to make my own yesterday. Bought some filled pasta and made my own sauce, it was lovely but I had to make it!

LaraMi · 19/05/2011 14:08

Coconuts - Metformin was GP-prescribed. I took a half dosage for the first twelve weeks and have therefore just stopped it.

Yep - the pasta is from M&S... It's the one that's been on TV the past few weeks. It is highly recommended
