Welcome ladies to our new home yet again!! I hope this one will be as lucky as the last one was!

You do have to wait until AF gets there and then set it (instructions are clear on how to do it etc) you can set it uptp 5 days after AF arrives and it usually starts asking for sticks on day 6.
You don't need to know how long your cycles are and the great thing about it is you will become more aware after a couple of months of your cycle length and (cirtically!) when you are ovulating which is the important bit!

Good luck and do ask if anythign is unclear. One tip is to make sure you press m button (meaning AF has arrived) at a time when its going to be convenient for you test each day. I made this mistake first month in my haste to get going and then had to reset teh darn thing

mememummy · 13/06/2011 20:18

Thank u so much so excited :D casually wandered round mothercare dreaming today lol fingers crossed it happens DD had been a monster today but she did ask me to ask Santa for a baby sister not a brother lol xxx

AuntieDoris · 13/06/2011 20:32

I Have just ordered a CBFM from Amazon.

Any and all advice on how to use the darn thing will be most appreciated.

AF is on the way so thought I would try and get on with it this cycle.

Keziahhopes · 13/06/2011 21:54

Hi - if you starting with a CBFM you can press the "m" button up to day 5 (so if it doesn't come before AF starts you may still be able to use it this cycle!). First month it tends to use all 20 sticks, but after that unless you have a very long cycle you should only use 10 sticks - I get mine from Amazon, about £14 for 2 months.

All the best.

farfallarocks · 14/06/2011 16:45

Welcome AuntiDoris, hope you get your monitor in time!
Which I had read this thread before my purchase, I seem to be the only person who bought it FULL PRICE from boots, sheesh.

Spotting has started again, CD22, most annoying, AF on her way and we shagged loads this month. Really thought this would be our month :(

raspberrytipple · 14/06/2011 18:28

Well, think I'm out for this month, started spotting about two hrs ago and got mega cramps now :( 30 day cycle even though the CBFM thinks I ovulated on 29th May. It's only my third cycle though so hopefully I'll get some results in the next couple of months!

Hello AuntieDoris and mememummy!

Farfalla I was surprised that your NHS area doesn't fund any IVF, I genuinely don't understand the whole postcode lottery thing with any medical treatments, either you're entitled to it or you are not. I seem to remember that Dr Robert Winston was talking about it on the news years ago saying one round of IVF was pretty much useless as most women need two or three - I think he was saying it with the intention of meaning the NHS should fund 3 rounds as standard but it added to the argument of not doing it at all because it wasn't worth it. The government really needs to sort it out. We aren't heading down that route yet but I don't even know if they fund it in our area and I doubt they do, postcode lottery really pisses me off (s'cuse the language - PMT!) ggrrrrrrrr.

Keziahhopes · 14/06/2011 19:01

I am hating postcode lottery of IVF - some places do 3 cycles, some 2, some 1, some 0. Mine does 1 but basically ensures there are no frozen embryos so that they don't have to fund it. Not sure purpose of NICE guidelines - but have you thought of writing to your PCT if you meet the general rules for 1vr:

  • 23-39 yrs old
  • both partners non smoking (and they test that )
  • both partners bmi between 19-30
  • no children at all from either partner
  • either a medical reason for needed assisted fertility or ttc for x number of years before need ivf

Each child born of ivf is worth a lot to the ecomony - was it £200,000 I read?

weimy · 14/06/2011 19:54

I am out cd1 by the monitor (cd 2 elsewhere), Hi AuntiedGrin

raspberry sorry :(

mememummy · 14/06/2011 23:09

so my boobs hurt and i have back ache ? hope af is on the way cuz i feel so rough and mardi oh well back to work tomorrow humph still gotta wash and dry my uniform grrr. rant over

AuntieDoris · 15/06/2011 06:20

Well the Amazon people have emailed me to say my CBFM is on it's way... it needs to be here in the next day or two for me to use it this month! Come on!!

Loup23 · 15/06/2011 09:49

Auntie good luck hope it arrives soon, you can use it this month so long as you don't go past CD5. You can set the monitor to start andy day between day 1 and 5.

9dpo for me here. Satying away from the sticks and hoping AF stays away in return......

boba82 · 15/06/2011 11:08

farfall No you aren't the only one. I got mine from Boots full whack too - only bonus was the double advantage points!

raspberry sorry about AF Sad

loup stay strong and away from the hpts - fx for you when you do.

OP posts:
farfallarocks · 15/06/2011 11:35

Thansk Boba that has made me feel better at least!!

Looks like no success for the 2ww crowd then? More spotting this morning, brown, just waiting for AF to start.

Has anyone had this brown spotting for 4 days before AF? Really bizarre, its the 2nd month it has happened.

Lychees · 15/06/2011 14:30

Don't be surprised at what the NHS will/won't offer ... very few people can get NHS funded IVF nowadays as the article below shows. It's terrible that they think funding should be spent helping alcoholics and drug addicts and on gastric by-passes but not on helping childless people:

www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1395082/Three-quarters-health-trusts-refuse-couples-IVF-treatment-blanket-ban.html

Keziah, I'm with ARGC. I am not 100% sure which level 2 tests they include or don't include yet as I have not been for the tests. But I know the package price does not include karotyping for instance. However, the price given is a whole package price for a whole immune panel so you cannot have some tests done elsewhere. If ARGC were to offer each of the test individually, it would be more than £800.

Loup23 · 15/06/2011 16:31

far I have started having brown spotting before AF, last month I had it for 3 or 4 days before 1 day of full AF and then hardly nothing, stupidly get hopes up that it's not AF and in fact some sort of IB - the consultant I saw said it can happen, still doesn't make it easier when you're trying to work out whther AF is really here or not..... Good luck for next month (if it is AF!) x

AuntieDoris · 15/06/2011 17:06

Do you have to use the CBFM at a certain time of day?

farfallarocks · 15/06/2011 17:23

Thanks Loup. Did the consultant seem to think it was an issue or indicative or any problems?

I got my hopes up hugely last month as I had never had it before and convinced myself it was IB. Not making the same mistake this time, HA!

CBFM - You have a testing window each day which is 6 hours (3 hours before and 3 after the time you set the M button) You need to set it so that you can test your first morning urine.

When it arrives, have a good read through the booklet, it is very helpful and then come on here and ask anything that is not i mmediately obvious! I certainly did!

AuntieDoris · 15/06/2011 17:59

Hmmm, well I still hope it will arrive on time.

Wonder if it is possible to refrigerate wee for a day or two in case doesn't arrive until Day 6 or something! Anyone know?

MiniH · 15/06/2011 19:42

My pct have cut pretty much all funding for ivf since end of last year - think only fund if you are 39 ( but cut off is 40!). It's not personal to us at all, just the way it is for everyone. Got my gp appointment tomorrow - fx I get some answers.

Loup23 · 16/06/2011 09:39

far the consultant didn't seem to think it was any sort of problem but I'm waiting for some blood tests back so will let you know. I'm 10dpo today and constantly checking for spotting/brown (tmi) it usually starts around 11 or 12dpo.......

waves to all and hopes you are somewhere nice and dry on this wet miserable day. Would love to be at home having a duvet day......

MiniH how long have you been trying#1? Some of the people on graduates list took, naturally, 18mths or so which encouraged me.

My aim right now is to get my BMI closer to 25 than 30 as know that is better for stopping miscarriages etc. Feels like am doing something.
