Glad to hear that you have had some good news to perhaps distract you a little knitter - are you managing any sleep at all? Really hope that you get the call today to save further uncertainty over the weekend.

pink - we did have one team bonding exercise to wild wadi shortly after I first arrived here 5 years ago - was a tad embarrassing revealing so much flesh to new colleagues! Blush

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 08/04/2011 07:19

knitter just a quick message to wish you luck...I've been thinking of you lots over the last few days and really hope you get the answers you want today. Excellent news about the nursery place, this must have been such a tough week for you but let's hope that's just the start of the good news. (((hugs))) xx

velvet fantastic news re scan, I'm so pleased all is well x

All fine here afaik but am completely knackered - walked with the children on their school Easter parade yesterday morning, and it's only about 1.5 miles each way to church but I was totally wiped out for the rest of the day! Going to pick up some more Floradix later in case it's low iron but suspect it's just first-trimester tiredness. Fx this is at least a sign that my body's working on more important things!

katherine2008 · 08/04/2011 07:29

fx for knitter today. will be thinking of you.

am going loopy with worry about lack of symptoms. scan tomorrow can't come soon enough. another sleepless night last night. am hoping to be proved a total drama queen tomorrow, but just can't shake the feeling that something is wrong..

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 08/04/2011 07:33

((( Katherine ))) chances are everything is fine, but I know that won't stop you worrying. Fx for the scan tomorrow - and please try to get some sleep or you'll go mad! Will be thinking of you tomorrow - what time's the scan?

Daisybell1 · 08/04/2011 07:36

hello all

Knitter will have everything crossed for you today, please take care of yourself.

Great news Velvet

Banana I agree with the others, you can get meds to help alleviate the sickness. These will help you stay hydrated.

Thanks for all your support on here, I'm sorry for off-loading on you all with my problems - unfortunately the antenatal/pre-natal depression forum doesn't seem to be very active.

I saw a really lovely dr yesterday, on advice of the MW. She's a new mum and lives only 5 miles from me. She was nearly in tears with me when I was describing how I was feeling, and is the first person to sum it up - I'm unhappy Sad

Basically I'm bordering pre-natal depression and my blood pressure is still high. Dr wanted to sign me off for another month, but I'm concerned about spending too much time in my own head, so we've compromised on part time for a month. She also advised me not to take my final assessment for the RICS - what would you do? 4 yrs work has been leading up to this - to sit or not to sit, that is the question.....

Waves to all the lovely people here

PinkFondantFancy · 08/04/2011 07:57

knitter glad you got good news on your nursery place! I really hope you get a phone call with good news at an appropriate time today! Hope you have a nice time at the zoo.

tigger hope you're doing ok!

wiw hmmm yep not sure I'd be keen either-especially the really tall slide, the scarieh jumeriah or whatever it's called... Wedgietastic! I was quite glad I wasn't wearing a bikini or I would have been worried about whether to sort out boobs or bum first!!! Grin

izz good news on tiredness!

Katherine I had that same feeling going round and round my head too, it drives you mad but you can't stop thinking about it. I'm glad your scan is tomorrow, fingers crossed it brings good news and some renewed zen.

banana how are you doing today?

daisy trying part time sounds like a good idea but I wouldn't be afraid to go back to being off sick if you're finding it all too much after you've gone back to work. Hurray for lovely doctor, it makes so much difference doesn't it. Not sure about the exam-if you don't sit it this time, when's your next opportunity? Doing it might be a good idea as it would give you a different focus away from the baby, but then again it might be just one more layer of stress for you to deal with. What's your gut feeling? It sounds to me like you're quite keen to do it?

I am straddling both this and the pregnancy thread-not sure what the etiquette is but I'm keen to hang around here for a good while longer and see more of you lovely ladies make it successfully past 12 weeks if that's ok?

Urgh I'm going back to bed, absolutely wiped out today Confused

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 08/04/2011 08:13

don't all leave just yet!!! Grin

daisy your gp sounds fab. What do you actually want to do re the assessment? I can see why now might not be the best time but otoh as pink says if you're keen it might be good to have a different focus?

banana87 · 08/04/2011 08:41

Knitter Thinking of you today. Fingers firmly crossed.

Daisy It's great to hear you have a lovely new GP. If I were in your shoes, and only had one chance to take the exam after 4 years of hard work, I would do it and get it over with. If you can take it another time, then do that. The health of you and your baby is much more important.

MummyA Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think we have coconut water here. I think I will go to the pharmacy later and see what they recommend I should drink as my fluid intake is very small. DH bought me ginger ale, but not sure if that will do any good hydrating me.

Pink Will try rice krispies. Dry I presume? Thanks :)

Wombat I seem to be able to drink ice cold water a bit easier, but defo not sparkling with a bit of squash (I have had that alot over the last 2 weeks and now I can't stomach it). Thanks for the suggestion.

Owl I have metaclopramide from my last pregnancy. The problem is actually taking it as I am not able to drink :( Saying that, I managed a sip this morning and took the tablet with it.

I woke up feeling rotten this morning, even whining to DH about it. Nibbled on an almond, then coughed, and dry heaved. Felt so weak and dizzy after. Layed down and then felt better so have just cooked an egg and toast to take advantage of the little time I am feeling ok. I have managed to take one anti-vom med this morning, so will see what happens.

PinkFondantFancy · 08/04/2011 08:50

banana whereabouts in the country are you? I'm in Hertfordshire and there's a few shops round here that sell cartons of coconut water- there's quite a big Asian community here so I think that's why they stock it. Yep I think dry but whichever you fancy-if you can bear it with milk all the better I would have thought. Good work on eating an egg!!!

mummya I just noticed my bananas came from costa rica and it made me think of you! :)

Daisybell1 · 08/04/2011 08:56

Banana do you have those sickness bands for your wrists? They really work for me (I used to get really bad travel sickness, but with them I was able to navigate on motor rallies - reading pacenotes whilst flying over bumpy forest tracks).

I used them when I had MS and didn't take them off for about a week. Unlike you, I found sparkling drinks helped, particularly ice cold ginger beer - although I can't drink it now as I associate it with feeling sick! I think you're very wise trying to get food into you when ever you can. Just a thought, would you be able to stomach those dehydration sachets for tummy upsets? They may help get some fuel into you, as well as liquid...

Thank you all for the advice re the exams. The dr was so lovely, turns out she lives 5 miles away from me and I have an invite to her playgroup! I'm tempted at the moment to take the final assessment but with a 'sod-it' attitude - ie treat it as a practice run, if I pass, then wey hey, but if I don't, its been good practice.

That's the current thinking. Pink I agree it would give me a focus away from my head, but because of the stress/depression, none of my revision is sticking - I can go though the motions, but can't remember anything the next day. The musing goes on....

randomimposter · 08/04/2011 08:58

knitter I don't "know" you very well, but just wanted to pop in and say I am thinking of you today and hoping your results go well. And that whatever the outcome you get all the love and support you need to meet whatever challenges are ahead. x

banana87 · 08/04/2011 09:03

Pink I am Surrey (Cobham area). I will maybe have a look online for the coconut water.

Daisy I don't have the sickness bands. Tried them last time with nowt effect, but will try them again I think. It can't hurt!

Emoo · 08/04/2011 10:37

Morning all! Lovely beautiful blue sky here.

Hoping for some positive news Knitter - thinking of you today, and keeping everything crossed.

Sorry I've been missing since last weekend. Have been quietly mentalling away and burying myself in work. Had a MW appt this morning to discuss results of booking tests and bloods and stuff - things all seem okay so far. Next step is an appointment with prem prevention clinic next week. Thinking of being brave and posting on the preg thread - don't worry, even if they staple me to the floor, I will be back here to see you all!

x

hotnspicyonions · 08/04/2011 10:53

Knitter will be thinking of you today, sending positive Zen vibes your way. Will try and log in a bit later to see if there's any news.

Banana sickness is just not good. As I haven't suffered any MS through either pregnancies Blush I don't have any top tips. Hope you feel much better soon though.

Congrats on the BFP Jiggle, there's probably no amount of mentalling you can do that hasn't been done before. I think it was Knitter who wrote the 10 commandments a few pages back, well worth a read and a chuckle over what we do post MC and getting BFPs!! Nothing is ever TMI!

Off on our holibobs tonight so will be AWOL for a week. And I also think that means I will be at the dreaded wonderful !& week mark..... I can't even bare to type it just in case the jinx pixies follow me to Turkey!!! Relaxation and 3 chic lit books packed. Mum & Nan will have to amuse DS for a bit Grin, if only I could partake in a Wine or G&T. Just the T it is then.

Enjoy the sunny weekend ladies. And watch out for severe weather in Marmaris, I just know it's gonna happen Wink

PinkFondantFancy · 08/04/2011 11:03

Oh jiggle I'm so sorry I missed your news!! Congratulations on the BFP!! you're in a good place to get support through the mentalling, these girls are fab!

onions have a lovely holiday!! The sun coming out here has made me really keen for a proper holiday in the sun!

LaraMi · 08/04/2011 11:10

Hello Ladies... Am BACK! Still alive and no bleeding while away.. phew... Of course it doesn't stop me panicking that something happened while I was away and that it'll all become apparent over the next few days. Gah - why do I do it to myself?

There were pages upon pages of messages to read through this AM so am going to read them properly later. Until then, just want to say a big good luck and hug to Knitter. Thinking of you m'Lady.

Catch you later!

xx

mattsmama · 08/04/2011 11:43

Knitter just to say been thinking about you loads. Sending lots of luck and a big hug. Fingers crossed for you x

Velvet Fantastic scan news. Really pleased for you.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 08/04/2011 11:45

Aaaagh jiggle - congrats!!! Grin. Sorry I really meant to mention that earlier but have brain like the proverbial sieve Blush

banana sounds really rough - hope you manage to find a way of feeling ok x

Wombat33 · 08/04/2011 11:56

V quick one to say good luck to Knitter I hope you get your results today so you're not worrying over the weekend. FX for good news xxx

Congrats to Jiggle on the BFP!

Banana hope your meds this morning are making you feel a little better?

Lara glad you had good and bleed free hols!

Daisy your plan of taking the exam as a sort of practice runs sounds good to me. Enjoy the sunny weekend before your pt return to work.

Off to view a house this eve. Lovely house but tiny tiny tiny garden (think smaller than a postage stamp) and no dedicated parking... would I be mad or is that doable do you think? Not too many options out there it seems so got to comproomise in some way...

Blackkat · 08/04/2011 12:24

Knitter FX you get a phone call with good news today ((hugs))

Banana so sorry to hear the ms is so bad, hope the meds help and that you manage to keep something down. Second what Daisy says about Ginger Beer.

Cep hope all is ok today??

Daisy your GP sounds lovely, good to hear that she listened and you reached a compromise about working - I agree with you I think too much time
mentalling alone can exacerbate the worry. Good luck figuring out what to do about your studies, you can only make the right decision for now, so try not to worry about what happens next ((hugs))

katherine FX for your scan tomorrow and that you do get some sleep

Onions have a lovely, relaxing holiday Grin

Jiggle Congratulations on your bfp

Wombat good luck with the househunting

lara so pleased the week away went well, hope you get a quiet weekend as a treat!

Hope you get some good rest today izzy, I'm knackered walking up the stairs [unfit and blaming it on pregnancy emoticon]

leaves lemonade flavour sparkles (do they still make them) for everyone.

POAAS today as had convinced myself the 4 last week were wrong, CBdigi puts me at 3 weeks+ now so things are real, and I need to try and get my head round this. Reckon I'm 5+4, scary. Off to see GP on Monday.

We're supposed to be going away for MIL 60th but cat has gone AWOL so we can't get him to the cattery, I'm sure he sees the case come out of the cupboard and cunningly does one. Hope you all have lovely weekends x

MummyAbroad · 08/04/2011 14:36

hi ladies!!

I am really excited because we have a new cleaner starting today!!! I have been living in a cess pit for the last month, watching helplessly from my sick bed as DS squirts shampoo all over the bathroom floor and tips cereal all over the kitchen. Its a big old house so I was never going to manage with DS and working from home - I am so happy!!!

Talking of houses Wombat I am going to give you my honest opinion - get a house with a decent garden! I bought this place when I was 7 months pregnant so we were in a bit of a hurry and did it fast - its much bigger than I orignally wanted (hard to clean!!) because the previous owners basically built over the garden space which is tiny! It really bothers me now - especially in dry season when the weather is gorgeous, and its all the more depressing when you have kids. DS plays in a paddling pool in a little strip of concrete on the patio but its just not the same. I'm so jealous of my sisters house in England, she has a huge garden with a swing set and trampoline, barbeque area etc etc. I think its better to get a beaten up old house that you could do up slowly, but has the right shape and size for you.

Daisy sorry to hear you are still feeling rotton. Its great that you are reaching out for help though through your GP and mw. Has anyone suggested anti depressants? Would you consider taking them? There are many that are safe to take during pregnancy after the first trimester.

banana glad you got some meds. I have some which are basically childrens travel sick pills and are chewable - much easier to take than my "adult" meds. I find lying down for 1/2 an hour after taking them helps them stay in. I am a big sea band fan too - use them a lot for travel sickness - but they didnt help me this time, which is wierd, I dont understand why MS would be different. I am finding that now things are easing a lot of "home remedies" that didnt work before are starting to have an affect. Eating more protein is helping, mint tea and boiled sweets. Most of all variety was very important, anything I "got used to" just started to make me feel sick on site. I like fizzy drinks because they make you burp which kind of feels nice. If you are feeling really really bad, the best advice I can offer is offload your DC on the grandparents and try and get some extra sleep - it really helps.

extra hugs for the other sick club ladies katherine collie and dach? how are you doing?

Pink our bananas are yummie! coffee too! Smile

hello all

have decided coming into work was not necessarily the best idea in the world as am now very sore and grumpy! still, it's nearly the weekend and the sun is shining, so am trying not to be too grumpy.

how many of you have bumps now? i still have no sign of one, I just look flabby. I was hoping it would have popped out by now. I wore my 'baby on board' badge for the first time this morning and the looks I got on the train were definitely more along the lines of 'you're not pregnant, just fat' rather than 'would you like my seat' (although i did get a seat without too much difficulty because the train wasn't too crowded today, but even so...)

Am still feeling wobbly and nauseous but I think it's to do with tiredness and low blood pressure rather than anything else. Am hoping it will wear off over the weekend. Have not taken any painkillers so far as paracetamol generally doesn't work on me, but am thinking of trying some this afternoon as I am so sore now.

FX for knitter - hope they call soon

Anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend? I think we need to start sorting the house out properly now. DH will have instructions to do lots of clearing while I lie on the sofa looking pathetic and barking orders at him. Fun for me. Not so much for him! Grin

Wombat33 · 08/04/2011 15:13

Dachs I've got a bit of a pot belly. To me it looks huge by the end of the day but to people who don't know me I doubt I look pg yet. It also depends on the clothes I'm wearing. Going to a wedding tomorrow and the only dress I have that fits definitely makes me look more pg. Am a bit nervous about being so brazen about it actually! For the same reason, I'm not wearing my baby-on-board badge either, but thankfully haven't really needed it yet, though I have got off a few fast trains and got on to slow ones in order to get a seat Blush

Mummya thanks for your advice. I'm kind of thinking the same thing. In my heart of hearts I'd love a bigger garden and some parking would be very practical I know. To get that the only option currently available is a 1970s house on an estate of identical houses. It's got plenty of space so my DH would love it and I know it's the practical option but I so had my heart set on a 'character' property and I'm struggling a to let go of my dream, daft as I know that sounds.

wombat aaaahhh, thats hard if you have a dream quality that also is a top priority. I had a "character" house (well flat) in london before, and 2 weeks after we moved in the bedroom floor fell in Grin It took us a year to do it up (the flat, not the floor!), and it was fun, but now that I have DS all I want is SPACE and GARDEN. Good luck, hope your instinct guides you! xx
