Getting us started on a new thread; this one is gonna be a lucky one!

OP posts:
KnitterNotTwitter · 11/05/2011 15:57

hellooooo... i'm back

I know it was bad form to 'post and run' but having posted I then got busy packing for holiday, being on holiday and then unpacking from holiday. Have just managed to get up to date on the thread.

The holiday was great - Ireland north and south for 12 days. And while it was a but stressfull getting organised for the trip actually I think it did me the power of good. My councellor is really pleased with how i'm doing since the termination and has discharged me! so I'm pleased about that.

I also went to the Foetal Medicine Unit yesterday and got the full results from our CVS. The good news is that the full results confirmed the initial results (Down's) and also that there was no chromosonal translocation so we've just been caught by the normal age-related chances of Down's syndrome and nothing more worrying than that.

I'm not sure i've really got a handle on everyone's news but from memory it's Congratulations to BBB and battery :)

Also thanks to whoever mentioned Wild Yam from Holland and Barrett - have just sneaked out of work and bought some!

kat2504 · 11/05/2011 16:07

Hello knitter am glad your holiday has done you so much good. Also pleased that your results did not reveal any more problems for you.
I'm back tttc after another miscarriage unfortunately, am awaiting referral to gynaecologist for investigations into the possible reasons for the miscarriage so hopefully I will be getting some progress some time soon.

YouremindmeoftheBFP · 11/05/2011 16:09

Hello peeps.

Just at work, got a lot on with studying/ work/being temporary single parent/being exhausted. Consequently not been posting much, although have been reading about it all.

jolls comiserations my lovely. So sorry that it seems to have been cp. Fx for the supposedly super fertile month after though.

izz I had a funny experience at the gym where my heart rate dropped dramatically mid (NOT VERY STRENUOUS) work-out. That and the fact dp has been working away a lot means I haven't been this week. Going back tonight though, hopefully, so will report back!

wiggle any news on the hcg?

ma sounds like ds loved nursery! That's a relief.

aandr I do a 3 day week which suits me. Plan was to go back full time when ds starts primary school, but hopefully that will be on hold for a little while.

I am 6 weeks tomorrow. When I get there I will probably get in touch with the gp, god knows when that will be, appointments are like gold-dust at my surgery, and then beg for a referral to EPAU. If he won't give me one then I'll just have to wait til 12 weeks I would ring today, but feel like I'm jinxing it if I do so. I am officially ridiculous, logically I know that nothing that I do from here on in will make much difference, but I just keep setting myself little tasks. 6 weeks for GP, Scan with heartbeat for parents, not spending much time in the freakout til after 6 weeks, so on and so forth..

YouremindmeoftheBFP · 11/05/2011 16:11

X-posts knitter glad to hear you've had a nice time, I love S Ireland, it's beautiful. Lovely to have you back x

KnitterNotTwitter · 11/05/2011 16:51

kat so sorry to hear you've mc'ed again - it's so shit isn't it... fingers crossed for next time... and hope that the gynae is sensible, sensitive and gets you good answers....

YRMTBFP thanks :)

getawiggleon · 11/05/2011 17:00

Knitter Welcome back. I'm so sorry you find yourself back in here though. I really admire your strength and it sounds like a break away has done you good. I'm glad that nothing else showed up on the results.

Jolls How are things today?

Mummy Lovely to see you. Glad your DS is enjoying his nursery! I really need to sort out a place for DD. The registration form has been collecting dust for weeks and the waiting lists around are huge. Even if I applied now there would be no guarantee of a place until Sep or poss January Shock! I'd love to go back to work part-time but would be looking at a total career change and therefore possibly retraining. This week's futile internet searchespossibilities include interior/garden design! Next week I'll probably consider midwifery! I honestly don't know where to begin/ what I want to do!

Izzy Hello lovely! How are you feeling? Good for you for pushing the doppler issue.

YRMOTB I hope you get an early scan through your GP. It seems such a postcode lottery on whether doctors will refer to EPU or not. I told my doc on Mon over the phone (needed increase in thyroid meds) so not sure if he has made a note on the system or not but I'm going to hold off making an appointment until the magic 6 week mark. Just trying to get to the end of this week first!

My HCG was 194 yesterday (13/14dpo). I was a bit Shock and Hmm at how high it was as it really didn't equate to the spindly line I got poas in the morning. It was four times the reading I got on the same day last time! Progesterone was 396 which doesn't mean much to me but think it's a healthy number.
They want me to redo Natural Killers again but I'm waiting for todays HCG results first to make sure there is a reason to do them.

Waves to those I haven't name-checked and any lurkers today. Has anyone seen Chloe or freelance recently?

AandRMum · 11/05/2011 19:50

wiggle did you get your hcg results? Your progesterone sounds great. As far as I can tell the more you have the better.

Hi kat sorry about latest mc - it really is shit - we are on a mission in here to have everyone upduffed by August and it seems to be working after a recent spate so I am sure it will be a short stay!

Love your planning YRMOB Your sequence sounds very similar to mine - although I am having imaginary arguments with my GP about getting progesterone prescribed and hcg tests etc - not sure where that fits in the sequence of events!

Knitter glad your hols were good - I think I need one of those! Glad your head is in a good place. There is a place called Crossways (based in Twickenham but do phone calls as well) if you need a bit of counselling top up at some point. You have an amazing attitude.

I meant to say that I would love to come to *MamaP''s pub and would like to know when it is but not sure if I have a life of any sort for the next 3 months.

MummyA glad DS has settled into nursery so well and you can get some work done. I am in the midst of a complete childcare muddle with Grandparents and DH filling the breach.

Waves to all

mousebaconmakestinysandwiches · 11/05/2011 20:04

It's so lovely to see you back knitter I've been thinking about you lots. I'm pleased the hol was good.

mummya I'm pleased DS has settled at nursery, it makes life so much easier when you know they're happy doesn't it?

wiggle where are you?! What were your results?! What do you mean 'redo natural killers' ??

yrmotb big smiles for the 6 week milestone Smile

jolls big hugs for you if you're lurking

Waves to all

First day back at work tomorrow. Stressed does not begin to cover it!

Blackkat · 11/05/2011 20:12

Mouse good luck tomorrow, will be thinking of you. Hope evil boss is not to mean. Are you having a phased return? I hope so.

knitter pleased to hear you had a good holiday Smile, good to hear from you.

kat glad to see you too, hope you're doing ok.

to everyone else

mousebaconmakestinysandwiches · 11/05/2011 20:15

Well hello there preggo Grin

Yes, phased return (phew!) 2 days this week, 3 next and 3 the week after then it'll be half term!

Dreading seeing demon boss but have arranged to see scary union man next tues...

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 11/05/2011 20:28

mouse good luck for work tomorrow - don't let the boss get to you, refuse to meet without a union rep and if it gets too much you can always get signed off again. Hopefully she'll leave you alone and let you get back into things.

lovely to see you both back, I've been wondering where you had got to. knitter I'm glad you had a good holiday and that you didn't have any more bad news on the cvs results. mummya it's great that ds is enjoying nursery, so much easier to not feel guilty about it and gives you some time to get stuff done too.

aandr your house project and jobs sound v exciting! I do have a good deal re hours but do feel slightly Envy of people who are actually zooming through their careers while I'm just plodding along. Also find it a bit difficult that dh is completely unhindered by having the dcs but I know why I chose this path and don't regret it.

yrmotb 6 weeks is good!! Good luck with the gp/mw - hope you get a tame one who will sort out an early scan. Would you consider private if not?

wiggle sounds like things are progressing well, fx for hcg results; I thought they usually took them 48 hours apart though?

kat sorry you're back Sad but welcome x

jolls how are you doing, lovely? Are you lurking? x

bbb hope everythings going well with you.

Am 11+4 now (I think!) so starting to fret about the NT scan on Monday, even though I think I got a brief (no more than 10 seconds!) heartbeat on the Doppler this week. I just hope everythings ok so far. Am also trying to re-organise our holiday - we're supposed to be camping, in a tent, in France for 2.5 weeks in august when (all being well) I'll be about 27 weeks. I know some of you are hardened campers but tbh I'm not and the thought of tent sleeping plus nighttime toilet trips was too much so we're looking to rent a gite instead. Was quite happy with this plan until my mum said today "well you might as well wait until after the scan to book it now" which sounds like she thinks we might not need to change the camping plans Hmm. Wondering how much faith she has in this pg...

getawiggleon · 11/05/2011 21:03

Just popping in with results - HCG was 311 today. Grin I entered the two results into Mummy's hcg calculator site and it draws a line above the max level?? Confused (and also having octomum flashbacks).

Mouse I had v slightly elevated natural killer cells when tested a couple of months ago so my clinic want to retest to make sure that the steroids are hopefully keeping them at bay. I hope first day back at work is ok x

The clinic I'm at monitor you like a hawk and amend your meds accordingly (each day if necessary). They want me to re-do HCG on Fri but I'm going to see if I can wait til Monday, it's pretty full on!

Izzy 11+4?? Wow, where did that go?? Congrats! x Gite sounds like a good idea, imagine if you're up peeing several times in the night by then - waddling across campsite, toilet roll in hand every hour!!

Freezingmyarseoff · 11/05/2011 21:05

Jolls I'm so sorry that this one has been a CP. My sympathies to you.

Mouse good, good, good luck for tomorrow. You'll be fine I'm sure. Are you a Harry Potter fan? If so do you know what I mean about the boggarts? Everytime you see or have to speak to your boss can you picture her looking really stupid, like a really naff 80's haircut or her skirt tucked into her kickers or something like that. I'm not very imaginative but I'm sure someone else here can make a much funnier scenario
Let us know how it goes

Knitter glad you had a good holiday, sounds lovely.

MummyA life has a way of taking over sometimes. So irritating when there's MNing to be doing Smile. It does make all the difference being happy about child care, and that's a really good sign that he cried about leaving. You've obviously got a very confident happy little boy - bless

YRMOTBFP I SO get the setting milestones etc. I'm actually quite relieved to hear someone else is thinking along the same lines as me. I daren't join the freak out room, and TBH I'm not quite sure when I'm at 6 weeks but I think it might be Saturday. I'm hoping I will be able to get an early scan as last MC the consultant I saw (by chance really) said she would be happy for me to request an early scan if I got pregnant again.

wiggle I hope you get the hcg soon.

Waves to all, sorry for not namechecking everyone xx

Freezingmyarseoff · 11/05/2011 21:10

xposts with Wiggle that's brilliant

batteryhen · 11/05/2011 21:33

Hello everyone, sorry for the absence but I am just generally knackered just now :)
wiggle That hcg sounds good to me , when I put mine in it drew me higher than normal too, so fingers crossed it's a sign of a strongbean :)
mouse when I have to deal with people I don't like - I often think to myself 'you might think you are fab, but you are a biatch and I want to punch you in the face' (and I bet you are crap in bed)whilst smiling sweetly. Works for me .....
Knitter glad to see you back
mummy sounds like it is all go in the mummy household!
izzy funny you should say that about your mum. When I told my mum about this one she sounded very unexcited and I pointed that out but she said she was excited but cautious. Now I have had a little scan she seems more relaxed.
babe I will be 7 weeks on friday and I do think - if I can get to 7 weeks, then I will be ok. If I can get to 8 then thats really good ..... not booked to see midwife yet, not even thinking of it yet.

I have started injecting myself and it has not been too bad so far, but I do have some good bruises :)

Sorry not to name check but I am on a course and have homework to do ....feel about 15 again.

Big wave to all xxxxxx

Freezingmyarseoff · 12/05/2011 11:15

Good morning lovely ladies
I'm meant to be working today so doing my best not to. Blush

Mouse thinking of you today.

Kat sorry that you're here
BBB How are you doing?

Battery glad you're tired Smile I'm also wondering how late to leave MW booking in. I can cope with seeing GP but really don't want to do the booking in because of having to go through the whole pregnancy history.

Izzy Think the gite idea is a good one. I love camping but it's such a faff having to get up in the night to go to the loo and that's even without being pregnant
AandR glad you have worked out the progesterone mystery. Work sounds good if hectic.

Jolls are you okay?

We have just booked flights for a week's holiday in Tuscany for early June which is v.exciting. Don't know much about Italy but mainly looking forward to mountains of pasta Grin Any recommendations on what to do/where to stay?

Waves to you all Melies, Knittter, Digital, Tigger, Velvet and any other lurkers

tiggersreturn · 12/05/2011 11:46

Mouse - good luck with work! Union men are on your side so shouldn't be too scary.

Battery - where are you injecting? Some areas are better than others. I've always bruised awfully on stomach so never do it there and tend to keep to thighs and bottom (bit difficult to do on yourself).

YouremindmeoftheBFP · 12/05/2011 15:57

tigger good luck tomorrowSmile

batteryhen · 12/05/2011 17:47

Hello! Just a quick drop in. Very freaked out this morning as I had no symptoms what so ever. I am still wearing a pad just in case I mc :( However I forget that I seem to get my sickness in the afternoon, so I just coming out of a big grip of nausea :)

tigger I do inject in my tummy - I don't find it too bad and I find I have a lot more to grab on to Blush

Can't stop - off to pick up dp from the airport Grin

meliesmummy · 12/05/2011 20:17

Hello ladies!

freezing I went to Tuscany a few years ago, it was lovely! We stayed about an hour outside of Rome, I can't remember the name of the town sorry. I enjoyed Rome, I can recommend taking a walking tour so you don't miss anything. Florence was nice too but very busy. My favourite thing was the food!

Glad your ds enjoyed nursery mummya, my dd is the same, she regularly tells me that she doesn't want to come home with me!

What's wild yam knitter? I'm glad you are recovering as well as you can x

Did you speak to your gp yrmotb? I found a sympathetic one who I'll be beelining for if I get pg again! He said he would bend the truth to get me into epu.

How was work mouse?

Hi blackkat!

I'm having a peaceful evening whilst dh is at his 'christmas' party (postponed because of snow). We're off to Southampton tomorrow...camping so hoping for an improvement in the weather! Peppa pig world on Saturday...dd is very excited. My period is showing no signs of packing up any day soon which is annoying!

Velvetcu · 12/05/2011 20:23

mouse how did it go??

Freezingmyarseoff · 12/05/2011 21:25
IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 13/05/2011 07:32

tigger good luck for today!

mouse how did it go yesterday?

yrmotb 6 weeks now then? Did you ring the gp/mw and did you manage to get epu early scan referral?

battery my nausea comes on later in the day too, starts to hit about 6pm. Which is handy for work but not so good for getting any housework done or having a life in the evenings!

clareanna · 13/05/2011 09:26

Popping by to wish tigger the best of luck for today

tiggersreturn · 13/05/2011 10:57

Thank you all. All is thankfully fine and one of them was sucking its thumb so I'd better set up a fund for braces as ds will need one too....

Am very relieved. Will catch up properly later.
