daisy I think a card is a lovely idea, I think I would be very touched that you'd remembered the due date.

collie you poor thing, so sorry for your loss. :( try not to worry about the bean, the cramps are scarily normal at this stage and don't mean doom. Also, I've heard that stress can't cause a miscarriage so try not to worry about the bean and focus on your family and yourself. Xxx

cep · 20/03/2011 12:41

collie i'm so so sorry about your nan. try not to worry about bean, take care of yourself. Thinking of you and your family.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 20/03/2011 12:48

collie I'm so sorry about your nan Sad. Please don't worry about the effect on your bean; they are remarkably resilient and my understanding is that there is no evidence of stress causing mc. I'm thinking of you and your family x

daisy gosh what a sad story, I think it would be really thoughtful to send a card, and I am sure they would appreciate the fact that someone had remembered.

cep · 20/03/2011 12:52

pink i wasn't willing to risk it to be honest, without knowing what's going on up there. dh went in with them on his own and i watched from the side.

Although the good news is so far no blood today, so that's 2 days. fx that the uti suspiscion (sp?) was correct

wombatinwaiting · 20/03/2011 12:57

Oh collie - so sad to hear your news. I will re-iterate what the others have said about stress and miscarriage and try and go easy on yourself. Thinking of you and your family and sending (( ))

wombatinwaiting · 20/03/2011 12:58

cep - good to hear 2 days of no bleeding. When are you going for a scan?

Velvetcu · 20/03/2011 13:30

Collie sorry to hear your news. Look after yourself xxx I've also had light bleeding and cramping on and off for 4 weeks now and bean was fine at my scan on Friday.

Cep glad to hear you have no more bleeding.

Daisy I think they would appreciate a card too.

We have cancelled our trip to Japan. We had only booked the flights and the airline were offering a full refund so we took it. There was no way we could risk exposing bean to radiation. Am a bit sad as it would have been our last big trip but what can you do. I will probably go and visit my nan in southern Spain instead.

BIL has until the end of April to move out whooop whooop.

I know its really early but now I've seen a baby in there I'm itching to buy it something! When/has anyone started buying yet? I'm going to try and wait til we have had 12 week scan just in case but dont know if I can.

I bought 2 new bras yesterday, only cheapy ones coz I figure if I've gone up a cup size already, I might not be in these for long. I had to get ones with bumpy patterns on since I dont think teaching teenage boys and having turbo nips poking through is a good combination!

MummyAbroad · 20/03/2011 13:41

hi ladies,

daisy I think a card is spot on, I am sure she will appreciate knowing that her baby is being remembered, and that people know their baby's name. I dont know your mc history and whether you have passed your own dd yet, but I found on mine that the days and weeks leading up to it were worse than the day itself. A lot of ladies on the Tighties-Whities-mc thread said the same, so your friend might appreciated some extra understanding at that time as well. What a nice friend you are.Smile

collie what sad news, I'm sorry. My much loved grandmother passed away while I was pregnant with DS. Its such a sad thing but I am sure it wont affect your pregnancy in anyway. Dont be afraid to grieve and cry if you want to, you wont hurt your baby.

WIW I hear from the recurrent mc thread that the NHS are just starting a large trial on progesterone (St Mary's RMC) so even thought the evidence is sketchy, its seems they havent given up the ghost on progesterone use altogether. Its routinely prescribed over here (Costa Rica) for ladies pregnancy after mc, my sister in law used it during her last two pregnancies.

Orange jealous of your new bras! I got some manky old ones out of the cupboard from last time, would love some new ones but still feeling too tired and pukey to go out shopping. Sad

Irene You know its safe to take paracetomol right? Have you tried making your own lemsip? Hot lemon, honey and crushed paracetomol? ..and if your nose is really blocked, try snorting salt water. Its really gross (especially if it goes down your throat - blearuuurghhh!) but it really clears you out. Hope you feel better soon.

mattsmama · 20/03/2011 13:41

Hello Ladies

Daisy I second what the other girls have said on here I think a card would definitely be a lovely idea.

Collie so very sorry to hear your sad news. Go very easy on yourself - thinking of you and your family.

cep · 20/03/2011 16:29

WIW tomorrow at 9:10. i'm pretty scared to be honest, the only other pg i had with bleeding ended in mc. I think i'll be holding my breath until she tells me how it is.

wombatinwaiting · 20/03/2011 16:43

velvet - I say buy something if you see something you really like, unless you are a fully signed-up believer to the jinx pixies (and would of course understand if you are!)

Am intrigued by your home remedies mummya but not so intrigued that I would try the salt water trick without a really serious cold first Grin. How's your sickness now with the meds? Not better enough to go bra shopping but better than it was? Thanks for the info on the progesterone trial - I do keep an eye on that thread from time to time so will do more so now. In fact I spoke to my ob/gyn this afternoon as she called me to discuss it and said that if I preferred cyclogest then she would prescribe that and she has also given me the option of baby asprin. I've seen the debates on the recurrent m/c thread on that one..... She was pretty thorough in talking through the pros and cons and really stressed it was my choice. Have talked it through with DH and I think I probably will take it as I can see me kicking myself more for not having taken it if things don't work out this time than if I do take it and things don't work out. I've no idea where this Confused logic has come from - I guess I'm going with what feels right....

Hope you're doing ok collie

wombatinwaiting · 20/03/2011 16:44

x-post cep - keeping everything crossed for tomorrow morning then. Good luck.

meliesmummy · 20/03/2011 17:18

Hi....normally just lurking (hoping to see you all in here soon though...), I just wanted to say sorry about your nan to collie, I hope that you are getting lots of hugs and support in rl xxxxx

Collie2 · 20/03/2011 17:42

Thank you everyone for your reassuring words and kind thoughts. I'm better and much calmer now, particulary compared to last night. Tbh it's reassuring to read you don't think stress can cause mc as I really thought it could but there are so many old wives tales much varying advice it's hard to know and I really haven't had the energy to google it.

Teacake I have been lurking on the thread for a while and followed your turbulent journey, and was so so thrilled for you when you had your scan. You did go through so much stress and your bean is fine.

It's reassuring to hear how many of you have had early cramps and I know they are common, it's the sharp pains that have been causing me more concern, but they have eased a bit since this morning. Last one must have been a couple of hrs ago.

wiw thanks for checking on me. Just about to go back to mums for some dinner. It's been a long day, but I'm ok.

thanks Hun x

Hi - I posted this on the TTC after M/C board for Izzy, but I see she is mostly in here.... I think most of yous don't know me, I was on the other board with Izzy for a little while and then I lost my spark and gave up and left... But Izzy was always so lovely to me. So I just wanted to butt in to wish her a MAHOOSIVE HUGMUNGOUS CONGRATULATIONS!

I'm so so so happy for you babe :)

  • Also admitting to being a tad tearful when I read your post, you were so good to me and understanding. I wish you all the very very best, and a very happy and healthy 9 month... Lots of love...

Sorry for all the gushing :o !

(Still hoping for a bfp for myself sometime this year... still got everything crossed)

Take care Mrs :D

mattsmama · 20/03/2011 18:35

CEP Wishing you all the best for tomorrow morning. Will be thinking about you. x

mamapower · 20/03/2011 18:44

Hi all

Pink work and getting ready to move; looks like we're off on Friday so yesterday we emptied the loft and shed, that took 5 runs to the tip and collected everything in the house we don't need anymore and took that to the charity shop... and on and on!!

I am just going to send great big hugs to all who need them and blow a kiss to each of you and apologise in advance as I know this week will be sooooo busy I may not get on here too much! Scan on Thurs and I'll def let you know how that goes Smile

cep · 20/03/2011 18:47

mattsmama thankyou. have to admit i am rather scared. Will be trying to have an early night as had a bad one last night.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 20/03/2011 19:33

sunchild how lovely to see you again!!! Thank you so much for your kind message...you made me well up there Blush. That thread was a lifesaver for me after the mc and it's always great to bump into people who were such fabulous support (obviously I'd much rather you were popping in to join us though!). I particularly remember you and me and was it pink ? all hitting that tricky 5 month mark at near enough the same time and having a total collective meltdown. I would never have got through without the hand-holding Smile

I hope you've been doing ok and will be keeping everything crossed that you're back here with your own sticky bfp soon. Big (((hugs))) xxx

cep just in case I miss you in the morning, best of luck for the scan xx

IreneHeron · 20/03/2011 19:47

Cep good luck with your scan.

Sunchild you sound lovely. Hope you get up duffed soon.

MummyAbroad Thanks for the tips. I've just been using Olbas but thankfully at last it is clearing tonight. Might even sleep. Will bear in mind the salt suggestion for next time.

Velvet sad about your trip but it is probably for the best. Spain sounds nice. Glad your BIL is finally going to sling his hook!

Good luck with the move Mamapower. Hope it goes smoother than ours did.

Collie sharp pains are normal in my experience. They're stretchy growing pains. I had them a lot with DS. I also had massive cramps in early pregnancy like mega period pains. I put it down to implantation.

Tunnocks tiredness and groaning is a very common occurrence in this household too. I think if I could I'd be sleeping day and night.

Collie so sorry to hear about your gran.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 20/03/2011 20:03

Oooh mamap just seen your post, good luck with the move and scan on Thursday - busy week, missus!!! Take it easy when you can and let us know how it all goes xx

Velvetcu · 20/03/2011 20:08

Cep good luck with the scan.

Mamap 5 trips?? It's amazing how much junk we collect isnt it? I'll definately be coming for a visit when you open :) Maybe we could get a few of us together? Good luck with your scan this week if you dont get on here beforehand.

sunchild I was on the other thread with you too. Hope you are ok and that you will be joining us soon.

PinkFondantFancy · 20/03/2011 20:34

cep in case I don't get on here before your scan tomorrow, very best of luck - I'll be thinking of you.

mummya not sure about the salt water thing! Stupid question - do you make it salty yourself? How much salt do you put in? Just in case I'm ever brave enough to give it a go!

collie I've been having sharp pains too, and am still getting them. I have to admit they are more scary than cramps but so far so good..... Confused

I remember you!! izz is right, the three of us definitely had a collective meltdown last year. I really really really hope your BFP is just around the corner.

mamap I am v. impressed with your tip/charity shopping mission today. I was just saying to DH this afternoon that we need to go through the house and be absolutely brutal about what we can get rid of - the house is overflowing and I'm sure we can get rid of most of it. I had a quick look at the 'fliers' thread - keen to give that stuff a go when I've got some energy back, the house is crying out for it. Crazy week ahead for you!!! Make sure you get some sleep when you get the chance - I am completely in awe, I spend my life crawling around looking for somewhere for a little sleep for 20 mins!

teacake I hope work goes well for you tomorrow.

PinkFondantFancy · 20/03/2011 20:35

Oh and meant to say velvet I am super keen for a meet up at mamap 's place!!
