Hello!

Newly updiffed and freaking out about spotting, cramping, the wait until your first scan and each little twinge? Settle in for lots of hand holding and supprt until you're ready to move to grads.

Lots of love

Cep why don't you have a slight confusion about the date of your last LMP? Grin

owlbooty · 15/03/2011 14:24

Not all areas have that sort of arrangement unfortunately - my EPU had a policy of only scanning on a doctor's referral and wouldn't scan below a certain number of weeks anyway (7 I think). MWs round here tend not to be involved if you haven't got as far as booking in yet and even then I was told to go to A&E if there were any problems. The only early scan I got last time was 6 days after I had the mc - that was the earliest they would scan me.

It's difficult, but at the end of the day it's resources - they only stretch so far. cep I know it's shite and horrible waiting, but if you can grit your teeth until Monday they'll be able to see so much more anyway - at 7 weeks you stand a good chance of seeing something definite rather than being stuck in horrible limbo which can happen with early scans as it's really hard to tell early on what is going on in there. Big squeeze x

MummyAbroad · 15/03/2011 14:29

tigger horray for the great scan Grin

cep what a rubbish doctor - I agree that the +ve test wont tell you much, perhaps he just said it so that you can feel that you are doing something pro-active? Whatever the outcome of the test - say its very positive and go get scanned!xxx

wombat yes I had HG with the mmc, but not with DS, so the sickness if freaking me out.Sad At least I am not actually puking though that would really make me feel like "oh no its happening again..."

Wombat33 · 15/03/2011 14:40

Mummya MS is often meant to be worse in subsequent pgs than it was in your first though isn't it? (I'm not trying to freak you out that you'll have HG again, just that it's likely pperfectly normal to be feeling sick even though you weren't so bad with DS) xxx

MummyAbroad · 15/03/2011 14:47

wombat I thought MS was supposed to be better in subsequent pregnacies Hmm I know there is no logic to my worrying (every pregnancy is different and all that...) I am just dreading going through HG again, especially if there is no baby at the end of it.Sad Anyway, I have decided I will ask for some anti nausea meds at doctors appointment tomorrow so if things start getting worse I will have something at hand.

DoubleDiffedDachs · 15/03/2011 15:11

Hello all

Sorry some of you are having a shit time with doctors, worrying and crappy midwives.

Booking in appointment was strange. I was the second appointment of the day and they were already running 40 minutes late. Not quite sure how... Midwife originally accused me of having a BMI of 35 - I'm a little overweight but not that much. I eventually had to prove to her that the calculation had me with a BMI of less than 30 and that she was reading her chart wrong. Apparently she's leaving the practise soon anyway, so I'll be seeing someone random next time.

She also only had me down as being 7 weeks, and said it was a little early for the appointment and did I want to come back in a couple of weeks. Clearly read her notes this morning then, as I could see written on the list that I was 7 weeks when I rang to book 3 weeks ago...

So that was a bit crap.

But I also had a scan and saw both of them wriggle :) One of them has a hb of 164 and the other one is 173. They're both bigger than 3cm now too! :) And they gave me a DVD of the whole scan so I can show DH later :)

I'm still mentalling pretty badly, but I have cancelled the hol we had booked for later in the year (which needed to be either cancelled or paid for this week), so I'm trying to tell myself that it will all work out this time :) Still not confident enough to move to grads until after the 12 week scan in a couple of weeks or start planning the nursery or buy baby stuff, but I'm trying to harness zen.

Glad to see you back properly tigger :)

cep · 15/03/2011 15:29

thanks for your comments, i'm hoping at 7 weeks i'll be more likely to see a h/b as well. Been reading dr google and that was still may not see one at 6 weeks. I'll just have to try and force myself to relax this week.

delilahbelle · 15/03/2011 15:59

Hey all

Just want to compare symptoms, I have a really weird dry/metallic taste in my mouth. Is this normal? Nothing else at all yet, I am hoping to get something soon. When did your symptoms start up?

Hils74 · 15/03/2011 16:03

cep fx, keep those legs crossed until Monday, gp sounds a complete arse

tmi symptoms alert, i also feel like a snail, not pleasant at all! have also been hit by the tiredness sledgehammer this afternoon and starting to feel nauseas :( i know its a good thing my symptoms are 'progressing' but why can't they be nice symptoms?! :)

i've got my first app with the gp tomorrow morning, will be interesting as last time i saw him i was in floods of tears and babbling Grin

Hils74 · 15/03/2011 16:04

tigger and dachs - twins question...

did you feel bigger earlier? was there any sign that it was twins?

MummyAbroad · 15/03/2011 16:10

delilahbelle I had that metalic taste with DS, not getting it at all this time though.

hils That Tired+Sick combo is awful, hope it doesnt get worse for you. I am feeling very sorry for myself now, I have felt the tiredness since 1 day post BFP and the nausea kicked in 8 days ago. I would love to swap them both for metalic taste and increased appetite Grin

OrangeGloss · 15/03/2011 16:12

Cep what a completely tactless dr Angry Actually, mine toyed with wanting me to do pg test to confirm despite having a scan which showed a HB Hmm I hope the next few days go as quickly as possible. I think 7 weeks is meant to show a lot more than 6, or at least that's what they told me xx

TTT congrats on a good scan! :)

Mummya sorry things are so uncertain, I wish I had some good advice that you would normally give to me, but I don't :( I can offer hugs and a bar of Dairy Milk

Dachs at least the MW is leaving soon, but great you got to have a scan. If you don't mind me asking, was it private? I don't think my MW has anything but a Doppler at her disposal

My cold is slowly getting better. I'm making a big effort to Keep Calm about Thursday's MW appointment. Yep, calm, calm, calm Grin

DoubleDiffedDachs · 15/03/2011 16:13

re: twins - sorry to disappoint but i still don't even feel pregnant, let alone with two! I'm not showing, I don't have any morning sickness and the only reason I know I'm pg (apart from no AF) is the scans...

DoubleDiffedDachs · 15/03/2011 16:14

orange - yep the scan was private - there is a private scanning centre attached to my GP surgery (£75 for an early scan) so I popped in for a scan before I went to see the midwife

Hils74 · 15/03/2011 16:16

thanks dachs :)

MummyAbroad · 15/03/2011 16:27

Dach I am very Envy of your symptomless pregnancy!
Must confess I have been lurking on twins board and wondering what it would be like...I guess its hard to accept that only one wee baby could make me feel this crap!

orange thanks for the hugs and choclate Smilehope you get well soon

IreneHeron · 15/03/2011 16:31

delilah yes, metallic taste is normal. Symptoms can be different for each pregnancy but this time I started getting mine at about 5 weeks, with DS at about 8 weeks. Can't remember for my mc, I've blotted that out.

katherine2008 · 15/03/2011 16:37

another symptoms question - I have felt a very low level cramping feeling almost since AF was due (that was actually why I didn't think I was pregnant). I think this is quite normal - anyone else? Like hils I have sledgehammer tiredness and am joyfully starting to feel a bit sick. Crazy huh?! The things we wish for.

MummyAbroad · 15/03/2011 16:40

katherine Yes, the cramping is normal. I had it too. Its your uterus growingSmile Excessive cramping early on is another twins sign too for those twin symptom watchers...

DoubleDiffedDachs · 15/03/2011 17:09

mummya I'm sure morning sickness is horrible but I'm Envy of all you people with symptoms! It's really overrated not having any - I'm spending my time just completely freaking out about not being pg. If I had a sign, just a little one, that I was pg it would be a lot easier!

katherine2008 · 15/03/2011 17:23

Thanks MummyA - roll on 31 March and my early scan..! Sending positive vibes to everyone, symptomless or not!

mamapower · 15/03/2011 17:59

ahh. mummy I got that one too, last night it was so bad that by 4am the only thing that eased it long enough for me to return to sleep was some ginger nut biscuits!!

Dachs rub salt in the wound why don't you... love from your huge sick pal!!!

tigger glad the scan was a good un Smile Yay!

Congratulations to the most tactless comment of the day go to ceps Dr! Well done, Idiot!

welcome delilah

DoubleDiffedDachs · 15/03/2011 18:04

mamap I'm not trying to rub salt in - I was just answering the question honestly. :( And I honestly, no matter how odd this seems, would LOVE to have morning sickness...

MummyAbroad · 15/03/2011 18:16

Dach I guess it just goes to show the grass is always greener on the other side! I dearly want to trade this MS with you!! (and you havent upset anyone silly! )

MamaP poor thing, you as well? Have you had it long? I was getting occassional respite for a little while after eating but its not working todaySad I will happily grab any drugs on offer when I go to the docs tommorrow. Its funny because I was so reluctant last time and tried to suffer through it, now I feel like it was silly to suffer like that when it all ended badly anyway.

Velvetcu · 15/03/2011 18:19

Yay for dachs and tigger beans :)

cep sorry you didn't get a scan but fx all is good.

pink I'm breathless and have heart palpitations but I know that it's hormones for me coz I always get it for a few days before AF too.

Tmi alert I am soooo happy coz I managed to have a nice non constipated poo this morning. Haha I can't believe I'm announcing that!
