Hello all!

Ohh goody some POAS action coming up! Can't wait to here the results! Tomboy if you're out there - any news?

Hope you all had some nice pancakes last night. I was cooking for one so had some spicy parsnip pancakes (had to use some parsnips up - they were starting to shrivel!). Not traditional, I know, but quite nice all the same.

I'm feeling thoroughly fed up tonight - here's why (sorry, bit too lazy to re-type). Things are going the way I planned and it's all getting a bit upsetting. Oh well, no point worrying about it too much I suppose - it's not like I'm even up duffed yet!

Is Masterchef on tonight does anyone know?

oh Imps, I'm sorry to hear that. My Dad was always off working when I was young, which left my Mum basically as a single parent. It must have been tough for her, but my brother and I always knew he loved us, and he used to make an effort to spend time with us in the school holidays and things (probably because mum made him) but we never went without. Now we are both adults we are both close to our Dad, but accept that he has always, and probably always will be obsessed by work. I honestly don't think its about money for him, he just loves his job. I love my Dad very much despite this, and I guess it is just part of who he is. I'm not standing up for your OH particularly, just saying that there are different kinds of Dad, and being a workaholic doesn't necessarily stop someone from being a good Dad.

Also, Masterchef is on later Smile

Lizzy - thanks for your post. That really helps actually - I've only been looking at it from my perspective and comparing it to my childhood, but I guess when you're growing up you only know your own childhood don't you? He would be a good dad, I would just love it if he would be around more.

Anyway I'm getting ahead of myself a bit aren't I? I don't even know if we'll be able to have kiddiwinks yet!

Imps I'm sorry to read your other thread. I kind of understand where you are coming from: DH is in the RAF and we live apart during the week as he is currently based almost 200 miles from our house.
We agreed that it was best for us to have a house near to my job so that we had a permanent base as he does not intend on staying in the RAF forever. It is hard not seeing him during the week, but we make sure that we have quality time at the weekends.

Many people in the Forces have children and live in a similar way, it can be done.

When I expressed my fears about being a single parent during the week to a friend of mine she pointed out that it wouldn't be that much different even if he was living at home - for the first few years of life at least the baby/toddler will usually be in bed before DH would get home from work anyway.

I think you need to have a face to face honest conversation with Mr Imps. Tell him your fears - it may be that he has put his foot in his mouth and not expressed himself well. As others have said he may have meant to say that he wants to provide the best for his family but it came out as "my career is the most important thing".

Have a Wine and some lots of chocolate [hug]

Right, I'm no longer wallowing today, having arranged a Life Planning Session with OH at the weekend to resolve our differences (FX...), so back to the TTC madness!

I think I OV'd yesterday so bring on the symptoms!

Anyone with any exciting POAS/symptom/other news to share? It's been ominously quiet in here on that front lately...

Report
Petal26 · 10/03/2011 17:15

Imps, I know you said you've stopped wallowing today but I thought I'd share anyway!

My DH works 12 hour days 5/6 days a week running a business with his dad. When he he gets home I usually get an hour or two before he's asleep on the sofa/middle of the pub Blush/wherever he sits! I think I've resigned myself to the fact that he will just be too tired to help during the week with future children but I know he'll be there at weekends and like Cavemum said, baby/toddler will prob be in bed before he comes home anyway during the week!

Both my parents were in the Army and my dad did live seperately from us for a while due to a posting. When I look back on my childhood I don't think of all the times that he wasn't there during the week, I remember the great holidays, days out and weekends that we had, quality time that we had when we were together Smile.

Don't know if that helps, just thought I'd share...

Back to TTC...I think I'm creating symptoms in my head, only on CD20 but keep feeling twinges in stomach area...

I have another Boots test and CB Digi for FMU tomorrow morning. Am soooo worried I'm going to be disappointed Confused

DH could see something too and I've never been even slightly convinced I could see anything before. I felt nauseous all afternoon (not like I was going to be sick, just strangely nauseous) so decided to test when I got home from work. I'm going to try to upload a pic of the test to my profile & see what you guys think.

Truffkin the Fertility Friend website is great for comparing tests - they have a whole gallery of pictures of tests to compare against!
Looking at the stats you are not technically late yet are you? Keeping everything crossed for you but don't be despondent if you don't get the desired result [tries to put on sensible hat]

Tomboy are you lurking? Any news?

Hello Ladies,
I always seem to drop by when something exciting is happening!!!! Truffkin! What time will you test tomorrow? I shall check the thread before work! Fingers crossed for you Grin

Imps sorry to hear you've been feeling rubbish but glad you are planning a bit of future planning on the weekend.

tomboy any news? Has ERTD arrived?

Welcome to all the newcomers - good to see lots of new names arriving.

Well, I have had a truly shit week, actually, the shittest week in the history of weeks I reckon :( I have also felt sick all day and am on CD27 of a usual 29/30 cycle. Tempted to test tomorrow but I'm getting faint cramps so it's probably just stupid ERTD. DP and I have decided to start up with the CBFM on this next cycle as I'm feeling impatient again at the moment despite trying to stay relaxed, it's very hard though sometimes. I really want to be pregnant before the wedding, odd I know as everyone always wants to look as slim as possibly but I'm starting to obsess about having a baby bump in my wedding dress but we are 8 months in now and not even a sniff :( Still, as one friend keeps saying to me, it's early days blah blah xx

Thanks, I should be testing around half seven as DH wants me to do it before he leaves for work. Technically ERTD is due on Saturday but FF's countdown had me testing tomorrow. So if I do with FMU in the morning, that is when FF originally advised I should wait until anyway. Although I've kept my UCL as 28 days, FF has amended this to 27 as my last couple of cycles have been shorter than usual. I also ovulated early this cycle so am now 14 DPO, which should be providing sufficient HCG to show a positive result.

I'd kind of like to know tomorrow as I'm out for a leaving do tomorrow night and would prefer to know if I need to lay off the heavy drinking Grin

Raspberry sorry it's getting to you again but hope the CBFM works it's magic! If this really is a BFP it means I avoid moving into double figure cycles, which would be great.

Cave don't worry, I do have in the back of my mind that it might just be a trick of the light / my overactive imagination (and DH's!) so tomorrow might not be positive. It's definitely not evap as it's pink and appeared within the development time.

Sorry for so much memememe, I'm kind of freaking out and need to stay chilled (how is that possible!?) I need to stop getting myself worked up and go to bed. The sooner I get to sleep, the sooner it will be morning! (I've also still got the nausea - yuk!)

Fingers crossed, Truff! It looks like a line to me on your photo :)

I'm 2DPO so far, according to fertility friend, and everything feels the same as usual. I am trying not to be hopeful this time, as I was way too hopeful last month and really crashed when ERTD turned up. 17th March will be CD28, so I refuse to even think about being hopeful until then...
