Hello! Happy Saturdays to you all.

Had a big temp dip this morning - am pretty much sure that this means I didn't lay an egg this month - am not particularly worried about this though as it's quite normal to have cycles when you don't isn't it? Esp when you hit your thirties I'm lead to believe! All in all, this cycle has been an unmitigated disaster for both me and Mr Imps Grin. Bring on next month, I say!!

FF seems to think that I've still ov'd based on my temperatures, but I'm not at all convinced - here's my chart if anyone has any views??

Sorry you're having wedding stress Raspberry - what time were you planning on doing food?? I'm with Tomboy - the availability of food is quite important so the less time that people have to wait before eating the better I think. Curry sounds like a fab idea - why don't more people do that?? Yum.

raspberrytipple · 09/04/2011 14:42

Well, the plan is:
330 ceremony
430 get to reception venue
430 - 530 drinks/canapés/photos etc
530/600 ish have Drinks top up/informal speeches and cake cutting (just so not too many people around (there will be money behind the bar for those who drink fast!!)
600-700 pm mingling/drinks canapés still around etc
700 pm evening guests invited
730/745 Buffett out and ready to go
830/900 pm first dance and disco
9-12 pm boogie
Midnight home.
The caterer is going to provide canapés and also nibbles for the tables/bar etc so there will be food around until the main buffet is served. I'm also thinking about getting some little cup cakes made (more for the little ones to be honest but who can refuse a pink cupcake??!!) I'm thinking it should be fine but our families haven't met so wanted to give a good hr for them to mingle and chat and get lots of nice informal photos. Think food is def going to be a finger buffet with finger puds as it covers all bases then. Sound ok?

Cloclo15 · 09/04/2011 18:00

Ok, someone give me a talking to! I've just had a little weep after convincing myself this is not my month again due to feeling a bit acidic down there (which is usually a sign of impending doom!) I'm not actually due to start my period for another 8 days so it's unlikely to be blood, though last cycle was short and I did start spotting early. But then I decided that because I was crying and feeling down, it must be PMT!

What the hell is wrong with me?! Why can't I just wait until I know for definite before 'mourning' about it!

weimy · 09/04/2011 18:13

because you are normal, and just like the rest of us cloco :)

I got upset yesterday, have taught at an easter school and the little ones were performing some bloody teddy bear dance in the final show and they all looked so cute in their pink leotards getting every move wrong that I convinced myself I would never have one of those moments as a mum. Not even sure if I have ov'd yet!

It's because we have no control over it no matter how much we try.

'Imps' I see what you mean, do you think the dip is not big enough to be ov? the dip after ov may be ok you know, see what it is like tomorrow I don't think one dip is anything to worry about. :)

Raspberry that sounds lovely, stay off the wedding threads and do the day your way Grin

Imps7 · 09/04/2011 19:06

Oh Cloclo I hear you honey! TTC is the most mind-wrenching thing you can do - as Weimy says, it's because we have absolutely no control over what happens. I embrace my down days now and let myself wallow - sometimes it just doesn't help to look on the bright side and there's nothing wrong with that.

I think it's hard to tell what's going on with my temps because they are so fluctuating - FF says that this is prob because I am being inconsistent with my temping and that temps should be taken at the same time every day as soon as you wake up. Trouble is, I wake up at different times every day - it varied from 5:15am to 7:30am last week - what's a girl to do in that situation?? Hmm

Raspberry, though I'm no wedding planner your schedule sounds ideal! Stick to it and enjoy the rest of the preparations!

LateToTheTTCParty · 09/04/2011 20:12

(hug) Cloclo, you don't need a talking to, Weimy & Imps are right, sometimes you need to have a little wallow and a cry, it's an emotional rollercoaster we're all on - and hormones don't help! Wink
My AF is due on 16th, are we testing buddies?! I'm going to a hen night on 15th and a wedding on the 16th, I'm thinking I should probably wait until 18th to poas if AF hasn't spoilt all my fun Grin

Imps, you had quite a significant temp rise so you may have laid an egg, see what your temp is tomorrow morning. It's interesting to see your chart (I'm being mean and keeping mine in my PeriodTracker app on my iPod), my temps have kind of stayed up since ov, just fluctuating slightly...

Raspberry, it doesn't matter what everyone else is doing, it's your day so arrange it exactly as you want. Everyone who's there will enjoy it, and if they don't it says more about them than it does about you! We served bangers and mash at our wedding (it was early Feb so everyone needed a good nosebag) and served canapes and champagne first while we did the photos (it had all gone by the time we were finished!). Out of that whole silly thread convo I would agree most with allowing more time than you think for photos - just rounding people up takes ages, it can be like herding cats! But you mustn't stress, everyone does these things differently and you shouldn't compare your wedding plans with anyone else's. Smile

raspberrytipple · 09/04/2011 21:56

Thank you guys, feel much better now. Also consulted some friends and have made a few tweaks to the cake cutting which we will do after people have their food so everyone can see the cake.

Will get back to thread news proper tomorrow, have just watched mama Mia and ERTD hormones left me a blithering mess!!! Never seen it before and loved it!! Almost fancy a Greek themed wedding now :)

Cloclo15 · 09/04/2011 21:57

Thanks girls, it's good to have people who understand how I feel on here. Feeling a bit better this evening, been out for a meal with family and even though I feel sick from overeating it means I spent a good few hours without thinking about it all.

Late I am due around the 17th but I usually start spotting 2 or 3 days beforehand so rarely get to poas stage. If I do though then we are definitely testing buddies :)

Raspberry, your day sounds fine to me. My day was so low key with only close friends and family that I'm prob not the best person to comment - we didnt have a schedule at all!

Imps7 · 10/04/2011 08:10

Morning all! Another fine day here!

Glad you're feeling a bit better CloClo and Raspberry. Venting on here can really help can't it?

I had another temperature dip this morning and FF no longer thinks that I ovulated. I will try to be more consistent with the time that I take my temperature next cycle and if the same happens again I think I will try a different thermometer for the next cycle. If the same happens that cycle I will go to docs - three non-ovulatory months would be a bit suspect. One every now and then I don't mind though :)

Right, I'm off to paint a room and then head to Homebase. Exciting time.

Cloclo15 · 10/04/2011 23:14

Hi all,

Well I had a really lovely day today after my mild depression yesterday. Went out to the garden centre with hubby and mum, enjoyed the glorious sunshine and got my mind right off ttc. It was a shame to have to leave mum and dads (I live 2 and a half hours away) but on the bright side it's now the Easter hols so I can get back down there again soon if I can face the drive.

So far no real symptoms except very mild acidity and a bit of white cm which I can often get in run up to af. I still don't think this is our month but feeling more philosophical about it now.

Hope you girls all had good weekends out in the sunshine :)

LateToTheTTCParty · 11/04/2011 06:26

Temps seem to be sliding in a downward direction... Not dramatic, but there... Ah well, only 5 days to go, I can keep fx can't I Wink

Imps7 · 11/04/2011 07:21

Ohhh fingers crossed Late!! Don't think a bit of a dip is much of a problem - I shall send positive high temp vibes your way.

FF thinks that I ovulated on Wednesday again - what a messy chart!! I am going to be a lot more consistent with times that I take my temps - 6:55am was a good time this morning so I shall keep on with that time this week. I have also started taking temps vaginally - apparently you get more accurate readings

CloClo - what do you mean by mild acidity?? I've not heard this before - is this something that you test for or just a feeling you have?? Glad you had a more positive weekend - sunshine and garden centres always help!

JosieSmith1 · 11/04/2011 09:16

Morning everyone

Had a fab weekend until last night when I found out that someone I went to college with lost her battle with cancer yesterday. We weren't close and haven't spoken for about 10 years but it's knocked me for 6. Makes you realise that you should be happy with what you've got Sad

Anyway, I have enjoyed a lot of sun this weekend and had some advice off my brother (?!) about relaxing when TTC (that was pretty embarrassing!) and who knew he had knowledge of these things! He's just split up with his girlfriend of 3 years, which is another thing I'm upset about. Honestly, with these hormones who needs pg hormones Grin

Morning all, I've had a lovely lie-in today on first day of school hols, and I'm doing traditional slacker things like watching Homes under the Hammer! Good times :)

Sorry to hear about your friend Josie, the same thing happened to me five years ago and it does affect you more than you would think. You are right about appreciating what you've got.

Imps - mild acidity is just my way of describing the slight burning feeling I get in the few days before af, especially when I start spotting. Doesn't seem to be there yet today but we'll see.

Late sorry about temp dip, I don't do temps so not sure what it means but isn't slight variation normal?

weimy · 11/04/2011 17:06

sorry about your friend josie

I had to got to the vets today, my eldest had a tick I really freaked out, it had legs and was buried in his head!!!

Imps That dip could be implantation Confused

I am struggling at the mo and still don't have cross hairs even tho I'm on cd18 :( Usually ov on cd13. I'm soooooo tired of swi!

Imps7 · 11/04/2011 17:14

Bit to early for that I think Weimy - although I challenge anyone to read my chart and tell me what's going on!!

The being-buried-in-head is waaay more freaky than the legs! How horrible!

Surely 3 temp rises in a row after a dip is an indication of ov?? What is FF up to?

Josie - sorry to hear about your friend too. These things always make you reassess your life. Hope you're okay.

CaveMum · 11/04/2011 17:45

Afternoon all, hope everyone is well.

Josie sorry to hear about your friend, it really does put things in perspective doesn't it Sad.
DH had to give me a bit of a talking to at the weekend after I got over emotional and a bit dramatic about our lack of progress. Honestly, I don't do things by halves: as well as TTC we are planning on moving house, so saving every last penny and trying to get our house ready to put on the market. I'm also trying to run the office at work, study for a part-time degree, teach a weekly salsa class and train for my Latin American dance exams. Spare time? What's that?!

weimy · 11/04/2011 19:20

cave the problem is we are made to believe we can be and should be superwomen.

TomboyWife · 11/04/2011 20:04

Evening ladies!

Josie so sorry to hear about your friend. The emotions can be hard to cope with if it's someone you weren't very close to. I remember as a teenager finding out that someone from my school had committed suicide. I knew who he was, but I don't think I ever actually spoke to him. I was pretty freaked out nonetheless. Sad

Cavey surely you're not doing enough. You should be writing a novel and composing an opera as well. Sheesh, such slacking! Grin

It's a bit early, but I'm getting gobs of EWCM and I think I'm very close to popping an egg. Shall be hoisting the shag flag tonight! We hoisted it on Saturday as well, but didn't do any of the lying still afterwards stuff as I didn't think the timing was such that it would count as SWI. I should really know by now that I often ov early, but never mind...

KaliLoki · 11/04/2011 20:26

Um.. hi.. still remember me? :D

Thought I'd pop in and see how you are all doing? I do think about all of you a lot!

After 17 months, myself and DH have decided to take a break from TTC. For a variety of reasons, partly that we have just moved into our new home after being made homeless, and would rather not think about moving anywhere else for a long time now. Which, as it's a 1 bed flat, would probably have to happen if I did get pregnant.

Also my ovulation/period/whatever pains have been getting worse every month. On top of that we've just adopted a rescue dog, he's 9 years old and has just had a malignant tumour removed, after he was badly neglected. So our hands are pretty full now.

So for now we are focussing on getting ourselves settled again. My health is a bit better, and DH has started volunteering with the RSPCA. So things are good right now, though there is a lingering sadness that we haven't been successful in TTC, maybe it was my bodies way of telling us we needed to wait.

Either way, I turn 27 in 10 days time. Hopefully this is the new start we've been due.

Cloclo15 · 12/04/2011 10:37

Morning all, second day of hols and feeling happily chilled, though I do have to clean the house today :(

Any symptoms yet Late? so far I don't have any really but am pretty certain we haven't been successful, I'm sure I would feel different if we were.

JosieSmith1 · 12/04/2011 11:17

Good to hear from you KaliLoki although sorry to hear about your decision to TTC. It sounds like you've made the right decision though, do come back and visit us.

Thanks everyone, I'm attending a memorial for my friend, will be good to catch up with everyone from college too.

If DH can get the time off we are going away for the weekend in May, right around the time when ov could be happening so fingers crossed. I haven't given up on this month but we can't get away in time for this month so next month will have to do. My mam bought us the room on that groupon website. It's 2 nights b&b in a hotel not far from us but far enough away if you see what I mean Grin It's a lovely thought. She's going to take the dog for us too so we'll have no committments whatsoever.

Cave you sound like me! I work full time and am running the office at the moment (I've built up 10 hours overtime, despite taking yesterday afternoon off Confused, spend most of my time at the yard sorting the horse, after I've been home and sorted the dog, whilst also studying for an HND through home study and now I'm looking at moving house as I don't want to be in mine when I get pg as it's too small and the neighbours can hear everything, and although we were going to swap with mam, my bro just split up with his gf of 3 years so chances are he'll never move out!

Imps7 · 12/04/2011 16:21
  • hello - I think I remember seeing your name when I first joined the thread in January. Sounds like you've got a lot going on already in your life - taking a break from TTC may do you the world of good.

Josie you sound busy too! Never a dull moment, eh?

I'm having a weird old cycle this cycle. Had lots of EWCM today - despite ov probably being last Wednesday! I've confused FF as well as confusing myself - FF went from "definite ov" last week to "no ov" at the weekend (cos of temperatures) back to "definite ov" on Sunday and today went to "possible ov" (because of the EWCM)!! I haven't got a clue what's going on, but everyone needs to have a dodgy unexplained cycle from time to time, don't they? It's like a TTC rite of passage.

Where has all the warm weather gone?? It's far too chilly today. Pah.

Late - any news?? I will update the list when I get home - am sure there should be lots of POAS coming up soon.

Cloclo15 · 12/04/2011 18:34

I am refusing to poas till Sunday - I normally start spotting before due day anyway so will prob know before then and there is something slightly less devastating about arrival of af than bfn - at least if af has arrived I'm already onto the next cycle of trying. Hard to explain, but that's my logic! Been trying 5 months now and only poas twice so far.

I have been obsessively checking for signs of blood all day though - the dangers of being on hols and having too much time on my hands!

LateToTheTTCParty · 12/04/2011 19:34

Cloclo no symptoms at all for me so far, not for pg or af - but then I've never had a big run-up to af, I usually just sense it coming about 24hrs before it does. Don't lose heart, it aint over til the big fat red bitch starts singing Grin Plenty of people don't have a clue they're pg until they twig that their AF is late, no symptoms doesn't mean anything.

We'll be testing buddies then! I'm not going to poas til Sunday at the earliest - I have a hen party on Friday, and a wedding (not the hen) on Saturday when AF is due.... I'm am feeling quite chilled about it actually (wonder how long that will last as we get closer to Sat!)

Imps, what is going on with you girl?! It sounds like my last cycle, that was all over the shop. Is Mr Imps feeling a bit less pressured? You need to jump on him, you may still be in with a chance this month (but don't tell him that Wink)

My temp sneaked back up again this morning - so it kind of doing a wobbly line that's a bit higher than the level it was before ov... I keep looking at Truff's chart and try to stop myself getting excited Smile Goodness knows if I'm doing it right, I rarely do it the moment I wake up so is it accurate if the reading are taken after 30mins just lying in bed?
