mindi, welcome to the hut, sorry you are here. ninja, am 4+5 and bricking it. i dont want to hurt dh again. he will be thrilled and knows i am late, but a cant tell him.

NinjaChipmunk · 12/02/2011 11:41

oh lissie it must be very stressful for you. I wish I knew what to suggest. All you can do is make sure you eat and drink healthily and have plenty of rest and lots of vitamins. At what point do you think you'll have to tell DH? Or will he guess? I've got everything crossed for you. Keep us posted and you know you have a safe freak out space here when you need to let off a bit.

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 11:44

Fingers and toes crossed for you lissie.

Welcome mindie- whilst in Somerset it nice your eh is not stressed (I have 2 dsc and a dd so my dh also more relaxed re having another) it does add to your isolation. Have they done any other checks when they put you on cloned?

Hairy- saw your other poat. With any luck should be quick- I think u was all done 16 hours after second dose (although that was 22 weeks).

Rugby later but am lying in bed and would quite like to stay here . Forgot my acupuncture appt this morning which is irritatiing. I do massively recommend it so bit hacked off.

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 11:45

That should say someways not somerset. Although possibly drinking cider may help... Curse the iphone

OracleInaCoracle · 12/02/2011 11:46

thank you, tbh i think he suspects already. had it confirmed by my gp yesterday and was refused ABs but am taking 1 paracetamol a day to keep my temp down and taking asprin and high dose FA i am drinking lots and eating a lot too.

NinjaChipmunk · 12/02/2011 11:47

I'm assuming Mindie hasn't been cloned either? Wink

NinjaChipmunk · 12/02/2011 11:48

What does the aspirin do if you don't mind me asking?

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 11:49

Lol- I assume not Blush.

Lissie really hope all goes ok- my consultant swears by aspirin.

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 11:52

Meant to reduce risk of clotting- as I understand it even they don't fully understand how it works. Also minimal downside (if you don't have an ulcer). The other thing that jury is out on is one of hormones ( progesterone)- they think low levels may be behind mc (although cant be sure if you get low levels as mc or vice versa). They are doing a study at my hospital an asked If I want to be in a blind trial to take some if I get pregnant again. Tbh given next pregnancy if it ever happens will likely be my last I am not keen to risk it.

OracleInaCoracle · 12/02/2011 11:52

asprin helps with clotting disorders, IF i get to 6w (not likely, i tend to mc at around 5w) i will start heparin injections too.

Mindiefez · 12/02/2011 12:30

Wishing you all the best lissie - can't imagine how hard this is for you but sounds like your doing right. Everything crossed!

No, I haven't been cloned ha ha...i've had a HyCoSy which showed normal but nothing else apart from that. DH had sperm test last year and he's "above average" (you can just imagine the head swelling that went on when he found that out!)
Yeah everyone says he's taking the pressure off me but it doesn't feel that way.

Am also going to be starting acupuncture next week - anyone know whether it might work

And IUI is next - if anyone has any experience of that I would love to hear it

hairylights · 12/02/2011 12:56

MC June 2010 (suspected ectopic, methotrexate)

MMC November 2010 (8 weeks - discovered at 10 weeks - ERPC completely failed -fetus was still there and whole, medical management completely failed, second ERPC worked)

MMC diagnosed yesterday at about 7 weeks (was on aspirin) - have second dose of medical management tomorrow.

Am going to now be tested, but I'm forty fucking three in April, wasted my child bearing years with the wrong man and am seriously fucked off with the whole damn thing.

Just feel so fucking sad.

Pooch28 · 12/02/2011 14:31

lissie Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrilliant news Grin keeping everything crossed (though thats making movement difficult) for you.
Hairy reading your PG history brought a lump to my throat, have had equally depressing MC history, we've managed one successful reproduction, DH not bothered at all about having 2nd but will have SWI reluctantly/grudgingly which makes the whole thing that much more stressful. Plus can't talk to him about how as each month goes by without BFP it makes me feel like shit as don't want him to know how much I'm obsessed by it as that might put him off from trying again.
My MC consultant said to take aspirin if I get BFP - same reason - reduces blood clotting.
Mindie am having acupunc - 2nd session yesterday - doesn't get you PG obviously! But do find the whole thing v positive so will let you know if next month is successful.
Finally ALL my friends have at least 2 sproglets - I am grateful for managing 1 but I get incredibly envious of them specially the one's who haven't had any MC's and can just sail through pg's getting excited and enjoying them.
Settling down for rugby too then out to get hammered with a friend to drown my sorrows!

hairylights · 12/02/2011 14:38

Hi Pooch sorry for your losses. I was on aspirin on this pregnancy, but clearly it didn't help :(

I am also having accupuncture, and have got a really healthy diet, don't smoke etc. I'm doing everything I possibly can and it's still not happening.

I guess an option might be IVF, but I am waiting to be tested before considering that.

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 16:52

I think it does work (acupuncture) as helped
Me conceive and have a good pregnancy (and helped me into labour with dd). I left off going for a while post dd and am back into it.

That's crap hairy (ESp the missed erpc- I had to have a erpc on first mc after failed to mc naturally - anything that prolongs the mc is shite). Good luck with tests- i am still waiting to do last round on antiphospholipids but tests were negative on everything else.
The one thing that was ok were amh and whatever the other one is that shows declining egg supply. So it may be that tests give you some more definite ion on if age is a factor.

hairylights · 12/02/2011 18:15

sleazy hi. I was told they don't test for amh at the hospital but that my gp might. If not I intend to go private. What's the other test for egg supply?

OracleInaCoracle · 12/02/2011 18:24

hairy, im so sorry my lovely.

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 18:39

Fsh- think it's a good indicator of egg reserve .Had both done to check what was going on.

OracleInaCoracle · 12/02/2011 18:42

although bloods cant tell the quality of your eggs.

brokeoven · 12/02/2011 18:51

Hello all, read the first post on this thread and thought...this is the place for me!

Aged 40

5mcs so far.

Been ttc (since lastmc)again for 14 months now.

Got an appointment next week at Liverpool womens hozzy to get the results of the bloods that they took from me in December.

So hopeful that they will have some answers for me, and thus treatement options.

It has been suggested that my problems may be down to clotting issues, so they tell me an asprin a day may be the answer. If it is then i am madder than a mad thing on mad drugs [anger] because had i taken asprin during my last pg i would now have a sleeping 7 month old upstairs.

Really looking forward to my appointment next week, they just seem to know what they are talking about. Its such a relief.

ellangirl · 12/02/2011 19:14

Hello lovely ladies. What an amateur I am at this ttc lark. I have never had a miscarriage, my problem is only not getting pregnant in the first place. You are all so brave and wonderful and I wish with all my heart that you all get the lovely children you want so much.

That's all. Oh, having a big glass of Wine and toasting you all!

hairylights · 12/02/2011 19:50

lissie what bloods can tell the quality of eggs? I'd understood that the only way to test quality was by looking physically at the eggs, during IVF. Is there something I'm missing?

FSH and AMH I think tell you if you have many left, but I'm intrigued to know a what the quality test is as I want it if it's available!

Thanks ellangirl. It's equally as frustrating not being able to get pregnant in the first place, I know, as I have a relative who tried for years then got lucky on first time IVF.

In other news, I am pigging out on donuts and blue cheese :)

Petrified of the medical management tomorrow - may just take two tramadol at the start and go to bed.

hairylights · 12/02/2011 19:51

Hi brokenoven we've been on other threads together. I am enjoying this thread for a good moan/rant! Grin

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 19:57

Hairy I think that all the various things together ( history time to ttc etc) add to a picture of likely fertility as our consultant thought egg quality unlikely to be issue( I had similar issue of getting pregnant then mc at similar stage to you). They were surprisingly reassuring as I was convinced it was me. Brokeoven I found it amazingly reassuring when I had my tests so hope yours are as helpful.

I was morphined up when had medical
Management so your idea not a bad one. Also interested to see what say re ivf (as if no luck by june that is what we will look into).

Am finishing yesterdays wine now. I really should do my 3rd lot of tests on antiphospolipids (Its best of 3 so have had one positive and one negative test).

hairylights · 12/02/2011 20:03

Thanks hardandsleazy.

I am scared because last time it didn't work (I had it between ERPCs because the first ERPC didn't work) and I was in terrible pain from it. I was in hospital but this time I'll be at home.

Gas and air and an epidural helped that time but all I'll have this time is Tramadol.

I remember wondering how the heck I'd cope with childbirth if I couldn't cope with a mc at ten weeks (8 weeks size).

Perhaps we'll be doing IVF around the same time! Lets hope it doesn't come to that (what age are you? I'll be forty three, so will not get any help on the NHS).
