update from me, had day 4 blood taken, booked in for day 20 as 21 is a saturday, last cycle was 25 days. Having a scan in a months time and off to fertility clinic the end of march to discuss all the results.

In the meantime 'taking charge of your fertility' book has arrived and wow what an impressive size! So at least I can be doing something in the meantime.

NinjaChipmunk · 09/02/2011 21:39

good for you bossy how do you feel about it all?

ellangirl · 09/02/2011 22:53

Go bossy, it's all happening! You have to join in now ninja, get your bloods done too. Clearly it's the thing to be doing this season.

NinjaChipmunk · 09/02/2011 23:01

its already booked for the 18th ellangirl!

bossyboop · 10/02/2011 09:11

The book is great, helping me to understand what is going on in preparation for the results from these tests. I have never charted before but always checked cm so know I get ewcm for a few days though it doesnt rule out that im not ovulating. It is worth a read to understand my own body better whether ttc or not, I m hoping to see a pattern between ewcm and temp. Will be glad to get the vaginal scan out of the way. In fact im glad to be getting a full MOT as ive been concerned for ages something wasnt right with me.

Oh and a key point of the book is that loads of people ttc for a year or more and think they are infertile but in fact they just arent doing it at the right time. I thought I was clued up on when my right time is but after reading the book I found im not! There are lots of examples of people who have been ttc for over a year and after a couple of months of using tips in the book they miraculously fall pregnant!

ellangirl · 10/02/2011 09:40

That sounds interesting bossy, I hope I've got it right! Maybe I'll be looking at that book now! Want to sum it up for me? I get about 5 days of EWCM, I start testing with OPK after a couple of days of it. Usually after I get a +ve result, everything dries up not too long after, so I figure I ovulated prob the day after +ve OPK usually. We carry on dtd anyway just in case! We've been using the Egg Meets Sperm Plan to cover all bases. What would your book say on the matter?

NinjaChipmunk · 10/02/2011 11:29

what is the Egg Meets Sperm Plan?
I think one of my friends has this book so I may ask to borrow it.
we just try to dtd every other day at least from ewcm onwards! I'm considered an oldie in fertility stakes (I'm 36) so I only get a couple of days of ewcm. Although i definitely think I need to drink more water as a general health rule, I'm sure it would help!

ellangirl · 10/02/2011 12:38

I take EPO- it's supposed to help with EWCM I think. Google the plan- there's lots of info out there. basically dtd every other day from after your period. When you get +opk do it that night and the following two, then miss a night, then do it again, then wait! Can't do any harm surely? The time before ovulation is more important than the time afterwards. My friend got pregnant from having sex 5 days before ovulation only!

bossyboop · 10/02/2011 14:23

if you only get a couple of days of ewcm it says to dtd on the 2nd day as the last day is your most fertile, if you have ewcm for a few days dtd every other day so that it works out that you dtd on the last day also i.e. 5 days of ewcm would mean days 1, 3 and 5.

Im charting temp now so while temp is low I must dtd every other day, once the temp goes up ive already ovulated but you could still dtd that morning as a bit of extra trying!

Im on cd5 now and have already started trying this cycle as last cycle was 25 days so probably ovulated earlier than expected so taking the every other day approach at least till temp goes up.

I read that thrush can affect things so im off to buy a pessary, amongst all these fertility tests I thought that was the least of my worries...

Pooch28 · 10/02/2011 15:21

Have been taking BBT, POAS, eating healthily, exercising etc etc but red tide started today - had had a BFN this morning but still held out a glimmer of hope that it may be + ve. All my imaginary symptoms on hold for another month. The times I have conceived have all been when we've DTD before I've ov'd so think this is the way forward for me. Only DTD once this month (v poor effort - combination of stress at work and sickness) but was on +opk day. Like all these books say you need to know your body - ewcm etc but as our little eggs only last 24 hrs and his zillions last up to 7 days I'm going to have to up the ante and insist on SWI on day 10, 12, 14 as I've had 3x25 day cycles now and not wait until +opk when it might be too late. Sorry for going on, just really pissed off and want to get my head around the best way forward to try and lift my spirits.

ellangirl · 10/02/2011 16:42

I'm sorry Pooch, that's really crappy for you. You're not going on, you're disappointed and that's only natural. Have a good swear, we'll close our ears...
Apparantly if your man goes too long without, ahem, releasing the swimmers, it really affects the quality and takes a few goes to clear out the old ones, so if you ovulate early in the cycle maybe bear that in mind? I read something about in one of the zita west chronicles. I have the opposite problem, quite often don't ovulate until day 21 so prob exhaust DH's supply of swimmers too early :o

NinjaChipmunk · 10/02/2011 16:44

don't be too hard on yourself pooch, have some time off while you have af and get your head together for next month. It sucks, I know, but we'll get there one day x

Pooch28 · 10/02/2011 18:43

Thanks Ellan Ninja - it doeesn't matter how many times I tell myself 'I am not PG' during the 2WW there's still always that hope then inevitable feeling of despair when it doesn't happen. Ellan good advice re swimmers though DH tends to sort himself out daily!! DH is of the opinion that he needs to build up if SWI is on the cards but will make sure he doesn't build up for too many days! One of my friends came over in the week, she had a couple of MC's but now has 3 under 5's and laughed at me when I said I was on CD24 and desperate to do a pg test - she's clearly forgotten the stress involved.
G&T ready, bottle of vino just gone in fridge. Grin

Bisous · 10/02/2011 18:56

Sorry pooch >hugs< . Go on as much as you like, we all have our days and need to vent x

My update: i got +opk on Tue so DTD Tuesday and yesterday so again we wait and see... (my opk says dtd two days following +opK as the LH hormone levels start to rise, which gives the +OPK, just before the egg is released)

Off to do 21 day blood test on Tuesday...

Ohhhh Ninja... Oldie sounds so bad doesnt it... I'm there too, fast approaching 36 >gulp

Hardandsleazy · 11/02/2011 22:41

Just checking back in (rose in hand)- pooch sorry you are having such a rough time. Suspect that will be next week.

NinjaChipmunk · 11/02/2011 23:14

evening ladies! its friday night and i'm sat on the sofa in my slobbing trousers (i've had a big fat curry). I think i shall pretend to be wearing my party frock, nursing a large gin cocktail. if i can maintain the energy, dp will be getting shagged tonight. If i can manage tonight and sunday i'll at least feel i've given it my best shot this month! one day i'll remember what spontaneous sex was like.

Bexamundo · 12/02/2011 08:31

Morning ladies how's it going? I'm glad people are enjoying the book, I've found it so enlightening! I am hoping to have some nookie tonight not so much swi its a bit early! That's if Dh is willing to despite his cold!

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 10:31

Hairy- what is up? Also which book are you talking about(have a fair few but must admit I haven't read them
All).

Mindiefez · 12/02/2011 10:39

Hello all,

Serious Newbie here, have never done this before but feeling the need to talk to people who know what this is all about!

Been TTC for 3 years (just turned 30) with hubbie not very helpful - announced on wedding anniversary he doesn't care if we don't have kids....thanks hub.

Am on 10th month of Clomid so have been advised can only take for 2 more months and then IUI. My last 21 day test showed 130?! Apparently this is good but nothing ever happens.

This is just sooooo depressing and I don't have any friends who are dealing with this as they are all super fertile and popping out babes left, right and centre and apparently they are all experts with my problem even though they haven't got a clue what I'm talking about.

Sorry lots of ranting for a Newbie but feels good to get it all out at last! seems a shame there are so many of us with similar problems and have issues with NHS/doctors/idiots in the health service. Good luck to all posting on this thread

Now about I get a round in? [Wine]

NinjaChipmunk · 12/02/2011 11:06

lissie do you know many weeks you are? I have read about your history and we are all here to hold your hand so to speak. How do you think DH will take it? Please try to be calm if thats at all possible. Maybe contact your gp/ consultant and see if they can give any advice? Good luck m'dear x

hairy whats happened? you sound so sad, you know you can vent here.

mindiefez hello, glad you found us. everyone here is very nice, and yes, a pre-lunch snifter would be lovely thanks!

NinjaChipmunk · 12/02/2011 11:10

hairy have found other thread, big love and hugs to you and yours. xxx

Mindiefez · 12/02/2011 11:14
