Good Morning Ladies!

I haven't been around for the past month after deciding to take a month off, which has done me the world of good. I see I have quite a lot of catching up to do on the thread. Congratulations to MissyRaines on your BFP - that's fabulous news.

Right, just updating the stats for now, and re-setting me. I'll catch up on the thread and post back later.

Keziah I meant to add that I've been thinking about you. How's the treatment going? Have you had a transfer yet?

tillydream · 26/03/2011 17:32

Hello Everyone

I hope that this weeks sunshine has brought out the positive vibes for many. My update is that AF got me - not surprised but still 'slightly annoyed!' Am trying to heed the advice of many, including chocciechip and not jump to attention at every story, anecdote and tale of success that was only achieved when there was a full moon with venus rising in the east, after eating a pineapple, bum raised on 3 pillows and achieveing orgasm before, during and after and using a mooncup just to make sure!!!!

Keziah thinking of you and sending a hug xx
Welcome to Scoobielou, Olismum23 and Brettgirl12 this is very good place to be - a great mix of kindness, sympathy when required and pma!

fr00bat Good to see you back, hope you're feeling a bit more positive now that the tests are in motion.

SBC we are indeed cycle buddies, CD5 for me today (How do you update the stats??) still have FX crossed for you - its good news that the LP is becoming more consistent. I'm on the starting blocks again but am a little bored of the view, oh well as the lotto says, gotta to be in it to win it!

Missy Huge Congratulations, sending every best wish for a happy and healthy 9 months.

Love to all

Tilly xxx

olismum23 · 26/03/2011 20:13

Keziahhopes · 27/03/2011 17:00

Hi KC - glad you had a positive month off! They can be really helpful. All the best for this month,

Olismum - day 9 is normal to start sticks and to be low fertility - it will keep asking for sticks now till you get to peak (sometimes on first cycle it uses lots of sticks to get used to your cycle!!).

Tilly to update stats, all you have to do is find the post with them last in (yesterday), copy and paste everyone's data and paste into your message box. Then increase everyone's numbers by 1 (or more if more than one day between updating) and chance yours if you started new cycle. I was going to do it, but will let you have a go... it is not tricky (says Kezzie who can't yet put weblinks in Grin)!! Same as if you want to add yourself.

As for me - halfway through 2ww - this feels like the first 2ww there is a chance (apart from first few months before I got used to bfn's) so am so scared of losing it next week... really praying it is a sticky bean!!x

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 27/03/2011 19:48

Fingers crossed for you Keziah x

AF got me Thursday night - gave me a 32 day cycle so built my hopes up, then dashed them so badly with the most horrific pain I've had in ages that I spent the night with D+V (TMI - sorry)

Anyway, am now CD 3 for the CBFM and hoping this may be the month - should be starting IUI too - if,and a big if - I actually ovulate before day 16, if not I'll be medicated and start next month Hmm

Tilly - I know what you mean Wink

Good luck everyone!

SBC

Loup23 · 28/03/2011 10:13

Fingers crossed keziah hope a BFP awaits...

Sorry to hear AF got you tilly and SBC, hope the IUI works this month SBC

I'm now CD14 and still showing low, I'm not actually sure it's CD14 as I set it to 1 on the first day of m/c but was really hoping I might at least see some highs as I usually get them from CD10-CD22 before a peak..... Is anyone out there able to help with what the lines of the sticks mean? There is a dark one at the furthest end (which I think is Oestregen) and a fainter LH line, is it right that the Oestregen line gets lighter as it gets higher?!?!?

boba82 · 28/03/2011 10:23

Lots of luck being sent your way keziah!

Sorry AF got you SBC and best of luck with the IUI

Loup not sure about the lines but I'd imagine your cycle might be a bit messed up this month?

Loup - maybe day 1 was not day 1, so a high to come later?

KnackeredCow · 28/03/2011 20:27

Loup This is what the lines on the stick mean...

The one nearest to the end you pee on is LH. This becomes darker as LH surges. LH surges approximately 12 - 48 hours before you ovulate.

The one furthest away from the end that you pee on is oestrogen. The technology of the stick uses a negative assay and this means it fades out as oestrogen surges. When oestrogen peaks, it becomes quite faint or non existent. As oestrogen levels begin to fall again, the line will become darker again.

Oestrogen levels rise and surge between one and a few days before your LH surge. The LH surge triggers ovulation

At the beginning of your cycle you will have low oestrogen and LH (hopefully - some conditions can mean this is not the case). The CBFM measures your baseline levels and then compares to these. If you do have low LH and oestrogen, you'll see a dark line furthest away from the end you pee on and a faint or no line on the end closest to pee end (one dark line, one faint line)

When your oestrogen surges, which tells the CBFM to read high, you'll see a faint line (or no line) closest to the end you pee on and a faint line (or no line) furthest away from the end on which you pee. The monitor switches from low to high (two faint / non-existent lines)

When your LH (which triggers ovulation) surges, you will see a dark line closest to where you pee and the oestrogen line (furthest away from the pee end) will become darker as oestrogen levels should be falling at this point.. (two dark lines)

The monitor does measure against baseline (ie early in your cycle) and so it's important to trust it rather than what you see on the stick. It assesses the intensity of the colours of the lines. It should be accurate unless you have any conditions that mean that you have high LH or oestrogen levels early in your cycle.

Karbea · 28/03/2011 22:23

Hello,

My CBFM arrived today, Im CD4 today so i think i can pee on my first stick tomorrow AM and start using it straight away!

I'm 37, as is my OH. We are trying for our first baby and this is cycle 6. My cycles range from 22 to 26 days, but I tend to have a shorten then longer cycle, this cycle should be a shorter one.

Anyone any tips for the machine?

xx

Keziahhopes · 28/03/2011 23:03

KC - so glad that you are back, people had to put up with my much more basic answers, hurrah!!!!!!!!!!

Karbea - yes you can use your maching this cycle but don't waste a stick on day 5, it might not ask for one!! You need to press the button to tell it what day it is, you can do this days 1-5, not after - you wait another cycle then - and it will beep when it wants a stick. Usually not as early as day 5. First month it will use more sticks than any other months, so don't worry.

Tips - um, buy sticks a box at a time from Amazon (about £14, free delivery) as chemists are £20-25, after first month you tend to get 2 cycles out of a box. My cycles can be 26 days, but not until I used the CBFM did I realise how much I varied.

Karbea - would you like your stats adding to the thread? People here are lovely - and you can see the great list of recent graduates (who have their own thread on ante-natal now but pop on sometimes to encourage us!) - all the best xx

Karbea · 29/03/2011 07:43

Morning! The instructions actually say wee on a stick on the 6th day. Do I have to turn it on every morning and see what it says then? I even forgot to take my temps this morning :(

I'll add my stats when I get into the office x x

MiniH · 29/03/2011 07:54

I think (fingers crossed) I'm going to get a peak soon -yay! After a ridiculously long 49 day cycle last month I think this one is going back to normal as the oestrogen line is fading out and had a faint lh line. I just hope that this means my cycles are finally getting into a pattern - was very regular pre-pill but been 11 months off it now and been all over the place.

Can't believe how excited I am at the prospect of a peak - after months of getting nothing on opk's and all lows last month on cbfm (but finally my first ever smiley face on opk) I am so pleased at the prospect of ovulating (fingers crossed)!

MiniH · 29/03/2011 07:55

Karbea - yes, you need to turn it on every morning during your testing window and then see if it asks for a stick. Don't poas until it asks you to.

Loup23 · 29/03/2011 10:50

Welcome karbea and good luck miniH hope that peak comes soon!

Thanks for your response KC you're a fountain of knowledge on the CBFM! Good luck for this month.

I'm CD15 today and still low but i think you're right keziah, I set day 1 as the day I m/c which probably isn't accurate but hey I wanted to get started again! Think I might need to get a lot of amazon sticks now in preparation for a lot of POAS!

Good luck to all x

Keziahhopes · 29/03/2011 16:09

Hi - bleeding started here, think it is all over. No idea when day 1 is though after ivf. At 36 am beginning to realise this might have been my only chance.

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 29/03/2011 18:49

Keziah am feeling for you, but 36 is not an age to worry too much about (I'll be 36 in a few months!)

Try to keep positive, I don't really know what else to say. BrewBiscuit

KnackeredCow · 29/03/2011 23:10

Keziah I am so sorry too hear that you've starter bleeding. I really don't know what to say. Thinking of you at this time. xxx

Keziahhopes · 29/03/2011 23:32

SBC not so much my age, but the fact that I only had one embryo to put back and it was too early a blast to grade, but the other 3 were too poor a grade to use so they used that one. Which means I don't make good quality eggs or many of them. I am sure it will be fine for you, it is more my lack of eggs the problem and high blood levels and lack of follicles in this cycle proved that.

Oh well, glad not booked any trips away this year as even have to re=do all the blood tests, like HIV, 2 Hep's etc as they will have run out as a 2mth wait to see the dr before we even think about the cost of the cycle (6,000 ish plus drugs). Oh to live in an NHS area that does more than one cycle.

Karbea · 29/03/2011 23:34

keziah I obviously don't know you yet, but I'm 37 and I'm not giving up all hope yet... But I do often feel I've missed my chance, so know exactly where you are coming from ((hug)) xx

Keziahhopes · 29/03/2011 23:35

Though on a positive work are offering more hours - so have to decide whether to take them. Physically it is not good for me, but will mean we can cycle sooner. Though it is so horrifying paying out so much (well it is for us) knowing only one live thing produced and not knowing why it doesn't stick. Am glad am not wealthy as money will put an end to our dream.
