By hook or by crook we will shag our way to victory - thread for the JSing viroids

Miffles · 19/11/2010 17:18

The (updated) (again) 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator for the Viroids:

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday (or when you?ve had bad news). Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended).

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at every opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Keep acronym-age to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'. Try not to get sucked in by Fertility Friend (at least for a while), but knowing where you are in your cycle and furkling for pant snot is most definitely allowed.

Bunting is to be put out for any small victory, thread-parties are held regularly and hugs are always welcome! Grin

Once you have your BFP, feel free to hang around and share your wisdom and virtual cocktails with the JSers.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

*

Most of these rules are well and truly broken!! But we try to chill - honest

Argh! Milano it said "Sorry we couldn't find that picture"...

SnowMiffles · 04/12/2010 19:42

Milano you can't do that!!! What was the pic?!!! Please be a positive PIAR stick!!

SnowMiffles · 04/12/2010 19:48

At least it was Saturday today, Mog so no school children. Hope you had a lazy day and caught up with yourself a bit. Still feeling mooncup shudders!!

I've had our tree 4 years (pretend one, obviously!) and not really got many new decorations since. But this is the first year in our house (not flat) so looking forward to putting the garland up the bannisters. DH rather reluctant for me to spend money on other decorations....but I think I might have to sneak some more in. They're an investment, surely, as you use them year after year! We're on a money saving exercise, you see.

Poor you escape my heart goes out to you - 17 degrees!! Xmas Wink Actually we've have torrential rain all day, so all the snow gone. Feel a bit safer, actually.

NMCB - have you forgiven your DH yet? Hope all well in your household.

And for the record - nicklel the children's bookshop owner was lovely. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Although she could do with a cordless phone! Xmas Grin

tory79 · 04/12/2010 19:51

I think if you look on Milano's profile you will see the pic she is referring to!

NervousNelly · 04/12/2010 20:32

Milano yeee fuckin ha Grin.

Sticky sticky thoughts. I have some syrup to hand, use that as a starter :)

Eskarina · 04/12/2010 21:55

WOOHOO Milano !!!
Took me an age to work out that I should look at your profile. Congrats lovely.
Now, have some ready-to-roll-icing as a sticky substance (have just been icing some Christmas cakes for church. It's very sticky stuff!)

SnowMiffles · 04/12/2010 22:33

Oh hurray hurray hurrah!! Xmas Grin That is brilliant news, milano. Congrats! Here's to this one being sticky. The lines look so dark as well. I was obviously predicting something when I added you to the graduate list!!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 05/12/2010 08:51

Milano!! I've seen your pee!!! Grin, seriously though that's great news. .

SnowMiffles yes I have forgiven DH (after giving him a peice of my mind). I have far better things to be utterly pissed off-- annoyed at Xmas Grin

We're not doing a tree this year. We're going away for Christmas so have decided to save our money (we're real tree types Xmas Blush). The in laws will have a tree though so we DS won't be missing out Xmas Smile

[fbear]

vallinnapod · 05/12/2010 08:56

Thanks for the follicular congrats one and all!

Milano whoop whee whoop!! Fantabulous Grin

miffles the clomid shagging is incredibly stressful - far more so than IVF has been so far, we had quite a few arguements over 'having' to shag. Not meant to be a downer but just try and talk to DH. I basically said 'look, this is shite and methodical but think of why we are doing it.' I don't think the guys really how stressful it is fir us either.

I haven't slept very well, think it is all getting to me at the moment. At least it's Sunday. Feel hungover which is unfair considering I am 5+1 (that's time not drinking Grin) I hope today's scan/bloods so some more positivity so my mind shuts off and gets some rest Sad

Sorry for being the pessimist today! On a happy note we are off to get our Christmas tree! I have Muppet's Christmas Carol on record to watch while we decorate!

Sunday hugs x

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 05/12/2010 09:23

Hmm tory79 are you a lurker? Come and play Grin

takethatlady · 05/12/2010 09:26

milano that's amaaaaaazing! You must be pretty darn pregnant to have lines that dark! Congratulations and lots of cellotape and blue tack coming your way to stick it in :)

miffles yep, that's right. 28 day cycle if you conceived 10 weeks ago you're 12 weeks preggo. In fact, no matter what the cycle is if you conceived 10 weeks ago just add 2 weeks (because it's based on the mythical 28 day cycle that nobody has Xmas Grin).

escapeartist I can NOT believe that about Greece Xmas Shock. Are they kidding???! Next you'll tell me they keep you in confinement for a month after the birth. Sounds suspiciously misogynist to me ...

SingingMog · 05/12/2010 10:13

Whoop! Two clear lines milano! Yay Xmas Grin

You're right Miffles, your decorations are an investment. That is what I will be saying to DH later anyway... We had rain too yesterday, but then this morning it is freezing again so now it looks like we have ice on top of ice. Skid-tastic! Managed to get sleep yesterday and had a lie-in today until 9am (that is amazingly long for me).

NMCB I would love to be a real-tree type, but I am too lax with cleaning to deal with all the dropping needles Xmas Blush. I love the smell of them though.

Vallinna hope you have some less-stressed shags.

Right, need to buy a warm & long coat today for when I'm in the playground. Can smell the Thorntons caramel shortcakes that are within arms reach, might have them for breakfast.... Xmas Grin

escapeartist · 05/12/2010 10:38

takethatlady they DO keep you in confinement for 40 days after the birth, during which time you are not allowed to leave the house and/or have visitors!!!!!

milano yay yay yay!!! Great news.

vallinna allow yourself to be down, to be stressed etc etc, You have done so bloody well so far, you are allowed some down time too. I am sure shagging by numbers is no fun at all - i find sometimes even the every-other day shagging sometimes gets too much. Chin (and legs) up... and fingers crossed!

BTW it has got a bit colder here, wearing wooly jumper finally!!! Very cripsy day, took all dogs out today, including our little pup, for whom it was first walk! :)

tory79 · 05/12/2010 13:12

Oops, yes outed myself as a lurker there!!

Its cycle 4 for us and I am desparately trying to pretend IT DOESN'T MATTER, I'm calm, taking things as they come....

But that would all be a big fat lie! Plus I am charting and just started with opk's this cycle so figured I wouldn't be allowed on here in the first place Xmas Grin

Truffkin · 05/12/2010 14:09

Sorry I've been AWOL for a few days, crazily busy times IRL - most inconvenient Smile

Congratumulationz Milano hope you are feeling well and still in your post-BFP cloud!

Mog your breakfast sounds like a great idea. I didn't actually get up until noon and DH has only just joined me on the sofa Blush so very lazy Sunday for us.

I'm about to pop to the shops to pick up a couple of things for making a cake. Am feeling domesticated and as we're not having a tree this year (we have a real tree and will be away from 23rd - 30th December it feels like a waste) I'm channelling my inner Nigella! DH is most excited as I'm going for chocolate fudge cake, his favourite. Next week is 'sex week' (TM) so am making sure he's feeling the love Xmas Grin

Vallinna I can't believe how great you have been through the whole journey you are still on. Sorry that sounds so sappy but you shouldn't feel bad at all, you've been brilliant.

Loving the sound of your garland SnowyMiff my Mom has something similar around her fireplace. Very festive. I'm with you on the date confusion as well, my cycles have been getting more predictable but I'm certainly not a mythical 28 dayer! If I do ever manage to win my baby I'll be interested if the dates change at the first scan.

Your sonographer sounds annoying NoMore as if you can override your GP when your cycle feedback was ignored! At least you get another scan though, which is the silver lining Smile

Right then, I'm off to purchase ingredients. Will try not very hard to avoid distraction from the lovely little boutiques on the way. Well, if I arrive home with some new boots or a cardigan, I can distract DH with beef & Guinness stew and chocolate fudge cake Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

SnowMiffles · 05/12/2010 15:28

Welcome tory...as NMCB said, come and play!! If you're like I was, you've been lurking for a while and already feel like we're friends...I promise it is even more fun when you join in! I was not one of the original JSers, but think the others would agree that we don't insist on pure JSing. The sentiment is there...but considering I'm on clomid and am as specific on shagging as you can get, Vallinna is having IVF, lots of others are OPKing and temping, etc (or did that and got their BFP) the rules are there to be broken!

Escape - that is utterly insane. I'm not even sure I believe you. Surely these women are not confined for 40 days with no one allowed!!!???!! Xmas Shock

Glad to have you back Truffkin. I love the sound of your baking. Xmas Envy I wonder once I have children if I will suddenly turn into a domestic goddess...would be nice, but honestly don't hold out much hope. Will have to virtually eat your cake instead!!

Am currently curled up on the sofa, snuggled under a duvet. Had that Sunday dose whilst DH watched rugby....love that feeling! Off to my works' Christmas meal this evening. At a nice pub, and OH's are invited too. Really looking forward to it, as I work with a nice bunch. Food should be good too.

Vallinna - how were your bloods today? I so hope you've had more good news and are feeling a bit chirpier. I so appreciate your advice on bits and pieces clomid related. You are amazing to be doing as well as you are considering the road you've travelled so far. :) and to you.

Where's BB? You alright darling? No more spotting, I hope.

Glad you got a lie in Mog - and hope you went with the shortcake for breakfast. No brainer to me! Not long til you have more time off for Christmas.

takethatlady · 05/12/2010 16:25

Oh my God I want pie and cake now. Just throw it in the hole here: - Xmas Shock

truffkin loving 'sex week'. Sex moment would be good in this house atm Xmas Grin. At least it might stop me copping off with strangers in my dreams (I actually had a hot affair last night and got caught by an ex-colleague about to shag this guy in a restaurant. There really is something wrong with me.)

Anyone else watching Nine Months on TV at the moment? It is unbelievably shit Xmas Grin

Welcome tory79 and happy shagging!

aBrightStarWithFestiveWays · 05/12/2010 16:26

vallinnapod I have nothing but respect for you and your DH, as I do anyone who goes through the IVF/assisted process. You are amazing Xmas Smile

Truffkin good call on the cake etc. Xmas Wink I made beef and ale stew on Friday night and DH practically swooned. It's always a winner.

Mog be careful on the double ice layer! Thank goodness all our snow and ice has melted at last. It's surprisingly pleasant to be able to see the street again (and take the car out).

Sounds like everyone is having a lazy Sunday Xmas Smile Same here; DS is watching Night Garden, DH and I are lounging around. The ILs have just dropped by with our presents - two enormous piles of wrapped boxes, how will we ever keep our hands off?

milanomum that is awesome! Such great news. Merry Christmas already Xmas Grin

aBrightStarWithFestiveWays · 05/12/2010 16:28

ttl maybe you should try the failsafe 'beef stew' method of getting some Xmas Wink

takethatlady · 05/12/2010 16:33

Xmas Grin star. Going to Nando's and the cinema in a minute. Not exactly seductive (we're probably seeing Monsters) but it is the kind of date that sixteen-year-olds go on, so p'raps it'll be conducive. Just depends on the amount of hurling that's involved at my end...

Good luck not unwrapping those presents!

tory79 · 05/12/2010 16:40

Thanks for the welcome all, I am just entering the 2ww here....why is it that the 2ww lasts 10 times as long as the 2 weeks preceeding it, which seem to go in a flash?!

Literally, today is the first day and already I can see time slowing down before my very eyes Confused

Just a bit of background, DH and I are TTC#1 for us, but he already has a daughter from a previous (short!) relationship! His ex got preganant about 4 weeks after they starting seeing each other which is another reason I am trying extra hard to stay calm about how long it might take us to ttc, otherwise I'll spend all my time wailing about how its not fair!

milanomum · 05/12/2010 17:33

vallinna what brightstar said. You are fecking amazing and I wish you all the luck going. I hope things went well today.

tory thanks for assisting with the tecchie problem and welcome!

truffs 2 words: Shag cape Grin

I am really chilled out at the minute about the whole thing - i did that test yesterday evening and the lines just came up immediately so that can only be a good thing. I can't stop things going wrong so am trying to be very zen. We'll see how long it'll last!

aBrightStarWithFestiveWays · 05/12/2010 19:12

Yay for chilledness milano :) While you're here, can I be cheeky and ask your advice? We're hoping to take a trip to Italy next spring but have no idea whereabouts to go. There's so much variety and so many amazing looking places, I get confused Blush Any recommendations for two adults and a toddler to enjoy a nice, relaxed holiday?

NervousNelly · 05/12/2010 20:40

Just lurking as still on iPhone. Can't remember if I said a branch came down and snapped our phone line in half Angry. No festive hat for that one!

Got car out for first time in a week today! Went to brunch with OH's sis and their wee boy who us nearly 1. He's so cute Xmas Smile.

Fed up typing now. Mwahs all round Grin

milanomum · 05/12/2010 21:48

Weeellll, there's so much to do/see but depends what kind of holiday. What about...
A. Chilled out, lakeside holiday - Lake Garda is lovely or Como (but they are doing work on the lake-side there so not as nice as it usually is)
B. Sea-side retreat - Sorrento (right next to the Amalfi coast) which is just lovely and you can get the ferry to Capri from there. You could also go visit Naples but as it's a bit scary, shouty-type city, you might not want to. Pompeii us just up the road too.
C. Cultural geeky-type holiday -Fly into Pisa, hire a car and drive around Tuscany staying in the wonderful Agriturismos (farm houses)and visiting gorgeous little villages.

I'd personally recommend Sorrento - I lived in Naples for a long time and it's the most beautiful area. It's also really tourist-friendly.
Let me know when you decide and I'll give you a few tips Smile
