A shiny new thread girls and hopefully we shall all get merrily up-duffed with sticky beans Grin

I had totally erratic periods which drove me nuts, usually no more than 3 weeks apart, sometimes only 5 days inbetween. I had no idea what was going on.

Yes I only found out a couple of months ago that Cerazette didn't always stop ovulation (though it will most months). Not particularly happy about that either, I wish I'd known it before.

I have been fascinated by charting and have been trying to persuade my sister to take it up Blush. She is young and not "active" as it were yet and is completely disgusted at the thought of checking CM/CP Grin

I know!! I've recommended charting to a few friends and at first they've looked at me like I'm a freak strange person.

I do find it really interesting though, also being able to predict with accuracy when your period is going to come, even if you've got erratic cycles.

The effects you had on Cerazette sound strange, lots of unpredictable bleeding. I wouldn't have liked that either.

spilttheteaagain · 02/12/2010 16:52

They said at the start that usually people have periods completely as normal, or no periods or irregular periods, so I figured I had the crap deal. However I probably should have gone back and said "look, I have had THREE periods this month ... help!"

I just couldn't think there was a better alternative. I couldn't take the combined pill (tried 3 types) as they made me vomit continuously. The worst was every 40 mins for about 6 hours! And they said Cerazette was a new minipill that was more reliable than the other types of minipill and had a 12 hour rather than 3 hour window to take it in. I had no intention of having an IUD. Obviously implant no good due to pill reaction. Condoms expensive and crap. Contraception options ain't that great really!

I love knowing when my period is coming, esp when ttc. It means you don't get your knickers in a twist over "is my period late/isn't it" because you know exactly when it would be late.

GetDownYouWillFall · 02/12/2010 17:03

yes we've struggled to find an "ideal" contraception (apart from abstinence of course - ha ha!)

I took the combined pill for quite a few years before DD and was fine on it, but only discovered after I came off it how much it had messed up my hormones!

Also because I had really bad PND after DD, they won't give me combined pill anymore because apparently it can make depression worse Hmm Never had a problem with it before DD.

I didn't like the mini pill for the reasons we've mentioned.

No way would I have an IUD - don't like the idea at all.

My mum always used the cap and spermicidal cream, but I don't really like the thought of a cap!

So we settled on condoms since January, since I wanted to chart to get used to my cycles. But they've obviously got their disadvantages! The one big advantage I find though, is that DH has to clear up the mess afterwards, and without a condom, I do!

Charting is great. Not sure I would rely on it for contraception though, as DD was conceived from sex 6 days before ovulation. We'd have to be careful!

spilttheteaagain · 02/12/2010 20:09

Sounds like you are in a similar boat to me. At least ttc and pregnancy means you won't have to worry about contraception for some time!

I have just had a weird experience. The nurse phoned to tell me my thyroid blood test results. Now 8 weeks ago I had a TSH of 6.7 (the day I delivered gave birth).

The results today show that now:
TSH: 2.3
Free T4: 16.1 (range 10-24.5)
Free T3: 5.1 (range 3.9-6.7)

No treatment in between, but it's all miraculously become normal. How strange. Obviously this is good, but makes me wonder what the dickens was going on when I was pregnant!

At least she says she recommends getting these bit tested frequently in a future pg to keep an eye on it all.

I've been prescribed iron though as whilst my haemoglobin is good, my ferrotin (long term iron stores) are a bit on the feeble side. So 210mg of iron a day Shock
Pass me the laxatives!

Hopefully I can get myself into full working order by March/April (I sound like a car needing a 60000 mile service Blush)

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 03/12/2010 11:34

spilt......more an MOT!!!

munki · 03/12/2010 11:52

Hi all,

I haven't posted in here before but I'm charting and just wondered if any of you experts knew the answer to this question. I don't want to get my hopes up.

My temps went up massively at 9 and 10 dpo and then came right down again, still above the coverline but i inputted ovulation manually this month so the coverline means nothing. Gone up again today but only by .1 degrees C. I'm on CD 28 of 29 today, just wondering what you think to my chances of being PG? Because I've been having some symptoms including dark nipples which my DH noticed, so I'm not imagining it!

Thanks for your advice, please feel free to talk me down as the way I feel at the moment I will be gutted for AF to turn up.

Munki

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 03/12/2010 11:55

That 2ww is such a killer eh? I know how you feel.
spilt can't comment on your results as I don't understand but hope it bodes well.

Nothing to report here but temps seem more stable and had acupuncture yesterday.

Off work till Tuesday, so attempting to get DD out of nappies. On 4th change of clothes so far! Must be mad.

TerrysNo2 · 03/12/2010 14:08

munki can you post your chart so we can look?

MrsA how old is DD? I want to potty train DS soon.

munki · 03/12/2010 14:19

Is this how? www.fertilityfriend.com/home/2d55ea

I know it looks crap but I do feel pregnant. Am ttc #2 so have previous experience to compare to.

Can cold weather affect temps?

TerrysNo2 · 03/12/2010 14:28

Hi munki I would say your chart looks quite erratic, do you take your temp with a fertility thermometer around the same time everyday? How do you know you OV-ed on CD15? I would say that there has been a big drop but it is still above the coverline so there is always a chance but I don't think anything can be conclusive except a BFP. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

munki · 03/12/2010 14:39

Thanks for your reply, it is helpful! I don't take my temp with a fertility thermometer, I use an 'in-ear' digital one which normally is sensitive to pick up the post-ov temp rise. My cycles are very regular, I often have ewcm after ov but temp rise always shows ov on cd 15/16 so because I had a fever while ov'ing this month I manually added to override FF, because otherwise it wouldn't have been able to detect ov.

TerrysNo2 · 03/12/2010 16:42

I used to use DS's in ear thermometer and it was rubbish, and really inconsistent, if this month isn't successful for you (although fingers crossed it is!) I would recommend purchasing a proper fertility thermometer as I think it would help you see a more consistent pattern. Just a thought! Good luck and let us know what happens. Smile

spilttheteaagain · 03/12/2010 20:01

Evening girls, how are you all?

OP posts:
TerrysNo2 · 03/12/2010 20:15

Hello spilt!! My evening is going quite nicely, a starter of soft boiled duck egg on soda bread with some jamon. Next course is going to be partridge - DH cooking while I MN/watch TV, isn't life grand!! Grin

BTW - when you ladies are on 2ww how much do you drink? Last month I didn't touch a drop (which was easy as I was ill and we didn't really go out) but this month I am having a glass of red tonight with DH's lovely meal and tomorrow night having dinner with friends so would like a glass or two. What do you think?

I know you can get PG even if you are drunk as I was stupendously hungover when we conceived DS and took my PG test when I was drunk!! (We weren't trying, before you think terribly of me!)

And how is everyone else tonight? Smile

spilttheteaagain · 03/12/2010 20:31

Living the high life terrys Wink

All by myself tonight as DH is at his work Christmas do (I declined due to being heavily pg by this point, and then due to being very un pg Sad). I have to admit as I stood in my pyjamas at 6pm and waved him off and settled down with biscuits/TV/MN I thought how lucky I am to be at home! (Deeply antisocial)

I didn't drink on the 2ww because I was being overly paranoid and protective of all my imaginary pregnancies... I will be just the same next time. There's no logic to it as prior to implantation surely the baby cannot get the booze?

OP posts:
WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 03/12/2010 21:44

I generally dont drink Terrys, mainly cos i am such a lightweight! It will do you good to relax :) enjoy it

Am with you on the antisocial curling up in pj's and shutting out the world spilt especially in this hideous weather !!

Hope you are all ok this evening xx

mousebacon · 04/12/2010 21:11

Hi ladies,

spilt how was your evening last night? Hope your DH wasn't too hungover today!

How are you nix ? Any symptoms kicking in yet?

terrys that sounded like a lovely meal, hope you're having an equally lovely night tonight.

Xmas Smile xxx

spilttheteaagain · 04/12/2010 21:15

DH was completely sober when he got home (thank God) as he was driving and the snow suddenly came by the bucketload while he was out so he had a very scary drive home. Stopped to help two girls who'd got their car stuck off the road. I was so relieved when he came in the door! I have to admit to sitting there miserably after he'd rung to say the roads were awful thinking "it would just be typical if this is the end" Sad
Feels a bit like that at the moment.

Knackered and feeling a grumpy in a PMT sort of way... at 6 DPO Confused What has happened to my LP??

mouse how are you feeling? Have you managed to tell your DH yet?

Hello

BUT we used contraception after day 8 until 4 days AFTER ovulations.

I always have a 13 day LP and my temp always drops on day 28 (today)

will be doing a pg test soon i think of AF doesnt arrive tomo as she should.

Dont feel like shes on her way but also dont feel pg!

any ideas?
Thanks

spilttheteaagain · 04/12/2010 21:16

"feeling grumpy" not "feeling a grumpy"

Not sure what has happened to my brain, random words creep into nearly all my posts now

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 04/12/2010 21:23

Hi nannyl

Is it possible that you've had a contraceptive failure in your fertile phase? I know I was conceived from apparently problem free sex with condom on.

My money is on you ovulating on CD16 so it would appear impossible for you to have conceived from any of your unprotected sex. If it was CD16 then you would only be 12dpo now.

It's not possible to be sure really, but I hope you get the result you want.

OP posts:
nannyl · 04/12/2010 21:29

i really dont think we had any contraception failure

I guess you might never know for sure but certainly no sign or hint of anything going wrong.

Either way i wont mind... we were planning on waiitng til December cause i didnt want an Augast baby (or one of the youngest in the school year)

BUT we were gonna be properly trying this month anyway so the world wont end either way!

I have been charting to get to know my body for 5 months now!... yet its deciding to confuse me right now, when i thought id worked it all out!
