TerrysNo2 · 25/11/2010 19:55

Evening all

Yay Grin yay to IfAtFirst so pleased for you! Enjoy your BFP tonight. Is it your first DC?

spilt I am very pleased you got some answers about Bobbie, the toxoplasma is awful although it must be good to know something so you can be proactive about it - I hope you and DH enjoy a relaxing next few months before you TTC again. Keep in touch though (if you feel up to it).

Well DH, DS and I are just back from the hospital. DS had a seizure at 2.30pm, was very scary but the good news is it only lasted a few minutes and he came out of it on his own (as opposed to a sedative). His temp went up to 39.5 in the hospital, highest its ever been but because it went down so quickly afterwards (to 36.1 after 2 hours) they think it might not be a Febrile Convulsion but maybe epilepsy Sad. Now off to be referred for sleep deprived brain activity tests and the like. On the bright side he seems to have really perked up and has gone to bed. Think I am OV-ing today or tomorrow and have had loads of EWCM today but DH and I are obv not in the mood today but I don't want to miss the window. Confused Not sure what to do...

Hello everyone else!

batteryhen · 25/11/2010 20:01

if Hooray :) can I please take my suspenders off now as they tend to dig in .....

newyearsday · 25/11/2010 20:01

Wooo hoooo congratulations If!!

Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy xx

And here's to lots more BFPs on this thread xx

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 25/11/2010 20:09

Many many congrats If (tinged with a slight hint of jealousy but that's my problem Grin). Ah will it ever be me!?

Seriously, huge congrats and hoping all is good, sticky and swelly good! (D'ya geddit?)

Please stay around for a bit to give us hope.

Ohh Terry how scary for you. Hope DS is OK.

I saw acupuncturist today who said steady temps are good. Fluctuating ones can indicate hormonal shifts, so your steady eddy temps are probably nowt to worry about.

spilttheteaagain · 25/11/2010 20:21

The message I was trying to post was:

As per usual I am having a completely delayed reaction to today's news, and only now starting to feel a bit odd and whimpery, but having been going round B&Q this afternoon.

I cannot believe how unlucky we have been. I have lived with cats since conception to age 3 and then age 11 until now. HOW have I not managed to catch this until this summer??

The NHS pages say:
"The risk of getting toxoplasmosis when you're pregnant is very low. From 1981 to 1992, a total of 423 cases of toxoplasmosis related to pregnancy were reported in England and Wales. During this time, on average 667,000 babies were born each year."

We don't have litter trays for the cats in the house so I didn't catch it like that. They poo in the garden so I could have got it from the soil by gardening or eating our fruit and veg. Or it could have been the odd bit of medium rare steak/venison that I had about twice. Who the fuck knows?

It's possible that I had the toxoplasmosis before and have lost my immunity, some people are like that. But if that's the case then having had it this time is no guarantee for next time. I'm scared to touch anything in the house and feel very slovenly.

We're buying a dishwasher anyway. It might sound slightly daft but we figured we could hot wash everything all through pregnancy just incase the little felines had been sneakily licking stuff etc. At least it makes us feel we are doing something which is the main thing.

Faint line on OPK today and SWI last night so oh God it would be so bloody typical to get pregnant now Sad. I did ask the consultant what we should do if I am pg and he said "PHONE ME!" so we shall wait and see.

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 25/11/2010 20:29

Terrys what a terrifying day you've had you poor poor thing Sad

So glad your DS has come out of this seizure but what a frightening thing to experience and I can't imagine how worried you must be with all the tests to come.

Have a ((hug)) xx

I will be staying on here, still charting. Ultimately we want to use FAM for contraception so this is 4 months of practice. I shall be jealous for all of you getting to SWI when I have to abstain!

OP posts:
GetDownYouWillFall · 25/11/2010 21:09

Yay for IfAtFirst - great news! Smile

Sorry to hear about your day Terrys that must have been horrible. I would cuddle up with DH on the sofa and just see if the mood takes you. If it doesn't no worries, but if it does, just go for it.

spilt glad to hear you will carry on charting, I think that's a good idea as you get more and more familiar with your cycles that way. I've been charting since January even though we only started TTC in October, and I find the previous month's charts really useful to refer to.

It's really bad luck about the toxoplasmosis. Don't torture yourself too much thinking what could have caused it. I think you were just very unlucky. I'm sure it won't happen again, but good idea re. the dishwasher, just for peace of mind.

LadyGoneGaga · 25/11/2010 21:20

Fantastic news Ifat. You knew it anyway Grin. so when is your due date? You'll be about a week behind me? How exciting!!!!

How scary, Terrys. So glad he's ok now. When will he be having tests? If it is epilepsy seems weird he only has it when he has a fever though?

((((Hugs)))) Spilt. I think the dishwasher is a good idea. So strange you weren't immune. I have cats and just presumed I would be Hmm. I googled and now feel racked with guilt as I forgot and had salami and palma ham as part of an antipasti on Sat and apparently that can give you it. So as you say, you just don't know, hon. But it shouldn't happen again. Thinking of you both.

nickstermum · 25/11/2010 21:29

(((spilt))) its good that you have some answers, im so sorry about the toxo. Good news on chromosome etc, if you can call it that i suppose! Could the toxo have been from weeding or something in the garden? I am always thinking of cat poo when rummaging in the soil, my cats go next door but theirs come in ours! Its possible to catch it from other animals too tho isnt it? Second get down, dont torture yourself. You couldnt possibly have known you were carrying it. Agree dishwasher. My cats are always in the sink drinking from the tap, but likewise they go in the toilet too whilst they are my snuggly furry babies, they are dirty scoundrels too!

terrys you poor thing, your little DS :( I hope you are all ok x

TerrysNo2 · 25/11/2010 21:30

Just wanted to share that I have gotten an almost +ve OPK - my first ever in 3 months!! Grin I am very excited about it!! Just hope I can seduce DH tonight!!

(when I say almost, the line was a smidgen lighter than the control but I am counting it!)

mousebacon · 25/11/2010 21:41

Yaaaaay!!!!! Hooray if I knew it!

(((spilt))) there are no words. The information must be so overwhelming. I'm thinking of you, DH and daughter Bobbie xx

terrys how terrifying for you all. Hope your DS is on the mend soon.

My temp dipped this morning - bummer. Still above the coverline but I was hoping it would stay as high as yesterday. It was 36.30 for about 4 days then 36.45 yesterday now 36.30 again! Still no sign of AF though.

Quick question - do you think I should ask the gp to check my thyroid function?

Loads of snow here BTW!!

digitalgirl · 25/11/2010 22:43

Congratulations ifatfirst!!! Fantastic news, even if we did all see it coming Grin. Wishing you a very uneventful and worry free 8 months ahead of you.

terrys what a traumatic day you've had! Is ds home with you now? Great news on his temp coming down so quickly though.
My ds still has his temp, he's had it on and off since Sunday.

spilt I know you won't stop as you will be desperate for immediate answers but googling isn't always the best idea. I say this completely hypocritically as I've spent hours (when I should have been working) googling for info about secondary recurrent miscarriage. Even posted a thread about it. But no one has any info about it.
Do you know when you might get to speak to the toxoplasma specialist? I think the dishwasher is a good idea (and you can use it to sterilise bottles too!), as it's good to feel like you're doing something.

So, cervix has shortened and is beginning to soften. Am guessing I'm a few days away from ov - which on the one hand I'm excited about as it means this WTF could be shorter than my last WTF cycle. On the other hand there was last nights accidentally on purpose slip up. Can't imagine last nights sperm will last as there was no ewcm. We're in agreement that we're holding off ttc, but I think it's obvious that we're desperate to get back to it. Not helped by our chosen method of protection - waiting until the last possible moment to use a condom.

GetDownYouWillFall · 26/11/2010 09:15

Ooooo mousebacon - snow! None here (which I am actually quite pleased about) but lots of frost.

Congrats on the positive OPK Terrys - do another one today, as I found I got a "nearly positive" one day, and then a definite, darker positive the day after that. I think LH kind of "ramps up" in the days before ov.

Hope you managed to turn on the charms with DH!

I am feeling rough... horrible cold, runny nose, sneezing all the time, sore throat. And not in the least bit pregnanty-feelings Angry Also DD has the same cold and has been up and down all night whimpering and whining Sad. She eventually got into our bed about 3am and I had to put my earplugs in as her breathing was so noisy!

coastgirl · 26/11/2010 10:24

Hi all, long-time lurker, first-time poster!

This is my third cycle off the pill but my first charting and now I'm all confused! My first cycle was 30 days, my second 26, but with a super-light period at the end of the first one. Here's my chart: www.fertilityfriend.com/home/3155f2. I'm 9dpo and had two consecutive temp drops, and I got a BFN this morning (I know, I know, but I had internet cheapie tests and we have guests this weekend - I don't want to test when they're here and I wanted to know if I could drink guilt-free this weekend! Anyway I am not heartbroken so no harm done). But I'm just interested to know what people make of it. I don't have much in the way of symptoms, only the usual things you can talk yourself into every 2ww!

spilttheteaagain · 26/11/2010 10:26

I've just had both arms emptied (or so it feels!) - veins kept collapsing so it took 4(!!) attempts to get blood out.

My antithyroid antibodies are 75 (between a negative and positive result!) so will be reviewed in 3 months. TSH 7 weeks ago was 6.7 but they didn't test FT4 and FT3 then so I asked for all three to be repeated which they've done this morning.

As we can't ttc just yet I am not yet on any thyroxine as apparently 6.7 is near enough normal Hmm. I have booked to see my lovely doctor when he's back from holiday to get these full results and request a thyroxine trial due to symptoms, highish TSH, some antibodies and imminent ttc-ing. Got to wait until 17th Dec though but he is worth it Smile

I just want to make sure I do everything I can to get my body as fit as possible for next time so that we can't sit there next time saying "oh what if I'd pushed harder for treatment" etc?

digi I really feel for you. Having to wait to ttc is so hard. Especially because you know that the magic date when you can start ttc does not actually mean you will get pregnant then, it could be a while. And even if you get pregnant nothing is guaranteed. Waiting the few months would be much easier if you knew you could definitely pick up your baby then rather than just begin attempting it all...

How you feeling IfatFirst? Sunk in yet?

mouse have you got you chart on FF so we can stalk have a look? Re your qu about thyroid function - there is no harm in asking for a check. What makes you think it might be an issue?

Sorry you are feeling so crappy GetDown, hope you feel better soon.

terrys how exciting! Let us know if you get the real + today Smile

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 26/11/2010 10:34

welcome coastgirl

Looking at your chart it's hard to say really, mainly because you don't yet know your luteal phase length. When I came off the pill in Feb my cycles were:

29 days, ov day 19, 10 day LP
26 days, ov day 16, 10 day LP
23 days, ov day 14, 9 day LP
20 weeks, ov day 12, assume 10 day LP but BFP followed by tradegy due to sodding toxoplasma at 20 weeks.... (sorry, just very angry)

But the point being that ovulation got earlier and earlier as my cycles settled down so if you don't know your LP yet then you won't know when your period is due.

It would be very unlikely to get BFP at 9dpo even if you are pg so if I was you I would retest at 14 dpo when you are more likely (but still by no means definitely) to get a reliable BFN or the BFP.

Your temp still being abouve the coverline means it is perfectly possible you have conceived, but I would agree it looks like it is showing a downward trend this time rather than just a blip. Wait and see really I think. Good luck Smile

OP posts:
TerrysNo2 · 26/11/2010 10:50

Morning all

Mouse how many DPO are you? Sounds good that it hasn't dropped yet, there is still hope!

digi I hope your cycles start resuming properly so you are ready when you want to TTC.

GetDown Hope you feel better soon!

Well DH and I did SWI last night and it was really nice, I think when DS has a seizure it brings us closer together. I am really happy that we did as today temp dropped lowest its been all month and I am having some mild OV pain so I think I am OV-ing today. CD15, same as last month.

Here is my chart

LadyG DS's seizures only have a temp after so the doc yesterday said that was unusual for a FC as they are caused by high temps and a high temp after could be the result of the seizure. Confused

Nice days all, am off to spoil DS!
