Have decided to take Terrys advice and book a private viability scan. They don't offer them til 8 weeks so I still have 3 and bit weeks left to wait. But is 5 days before Christmas which could make a very sad or happy Christmas

Lady do your private service not offer 6 week scans? i think some do if you didnt want to wait. (we were booked for a private nuchal at the hosp which did 6 week viability ones i think) if that helps :)

Hi ladies, ladyg I've given serious consideration to an early scan next time so it's interesting to see your decision (I think I'd go for it too btw).

I'm now about 38 days post erpc and I think I ov'd about 5 days ago. Temp went up again today. Unfortunately I think AF will be due on wed - the day of the cremation. Doom.

digi I loved harry potter but they'd missed so much out so was a bit disappointed. Can't wait for the next one now.

Just getting ready for the next installment of the apprentice - love that show!

Morning everyone :) I have been absent due to travelling and being knackered :( but I am very excited to see some very hopeful charts! I really am keeping my fingers crossed for you if xx

Am just off to work but wonder if you could I could get advice on my chart. FF originally said I ov on day 22,then changed its mind to day24 and now had changed it back to 22 again. I don't have any chance of being pg this month - but as you know I need to plan travel around my ov so need to book flights in advance!! Chart here

battery how long is your LP normally? It could be either 22 or 24, but if you're over your LP length at the moment then it's more likely it was 24.

At home today as poor DS has a chest infection He has fallen asleep on the couch for the first time in his life (without the aid of BF) I am watching him like a hawk as he has a history of febrile convulsions due to chest infections. Feeling VERY anxious.

Ah, bless him, Terrys. My little man seems prone to chest infections - is horrible - but never had a febrile convulsion. must be really scary. I didn't realise you were another extended breastfeeder . Nice to know i'm not the only freak! Good to know thouh that your milk will really be helping get him through this.

Digi. I'm surpised at you . I'm sure you'll be fine this time. Are you both feeling a bit conflicting about stopping trying for time being?

Battery not sure what I can add really - I think the advice about waiting to see how long your luteal phase is is good though.

Oh, in other news you'll be pleased to hear that I haven't temped ALL WEEK . Although am still peeing on sticks...and they are going nicely darker each time so think I may be continuing this habit for some time.

I'm not an EBF-er any more LadyG I gave up when DS was 19mo, one day he didn't ask for it and so I didn't offer it. Also coincided with lots of nights away for weddings and DH's birthday trip so am very I don't BF anymore it was a nice natural end for us. DS's febrile convulsions are horrid and they last for up to 30 minutes so he needs drugs to stop them so we call an ambulance if he does. He is going strong atm though, just snoozing on the couch but is red hot and won't have any calpol/nurofen.

I am very that the pee sticks are getting darker for you!

Quick post from me as I am trying to look like I am working - my normal LP is 14 days so I am 13 today - and got period cramps and spotting so looks like FF might be right. Good. I have booked DP on a flight and told him to bring his best swimmers :)

My DD had a febrile convulsion too once when she was 18 months old. We were out on a walk in some woods and there was no mobile phone reception! DH and I had to run about 1/2 a mile back to the car with her unconscious, twitching and foaming at the mouth

It was awful. Thankfully she's not had anymore, but I do understand how scary they are.

Hi everyone,

We've seen the consultant now, he was really nice.

The news is that Bobbie was a little girl.

There was nothing wrong with her, chromosones all normal and fine, no genetic issues. The placenta was normal and consistent with 19-20 weeks, no clots or weird structure or anything. I have no blood clotting issues either.

My thyroid is slightly underactive, still waiting for results on the anti-thyroid antibody test tomorrow to sort out what to do about that.

The bad news is they detected a strong toxoplasma infection and in the absence of any other detected problems, they think that was probably the cause of the loss.

The consultant is phoning the UK toxoplasma specialist to get advice for us on what to do the next time to avoid repeat infection, and to whether I should have repeat blood tests for this before ttc.

We now have to do a load of research really to decide what we do with our 2 cats

And we have been strongly recommended to wait 6 months from the birth before ttc, so 4 months from now. This is to let the infection go away and let me develop the antibodies that will hopefully protect our next baby.

4 months ! digi I'll be your conception buddy in the spring.

Glad that you got some answers and that the consultant was really nice. That is some comfort anyway.

Am so so sorry to hear about the toxoplasma infection, also where that leaves you WRT your cats. It's so tricky. Obviously you don't want to risk this again, but I suppose it may not have been due to them at all.

Also about having to wait another 4 months. That must be very frustrating, but I suppose it would be best if that's the advice you've been given. Maybe it would be good to have a break from TTC for a while anyway.

How are you feeling? Hope you are ok and DH is staying with you today.

Oh Spilt. What a lot to take in. It's good that you have got some definite answers but throws up lots of questions too.

The good news is that it seems like this is unlikely to recur once you have antibodies? Let us know what the Toxoplasmosis specialist says.

There's a lot to think about. And you have your answer as to what happened to your daughter. As LadyG said, there is some comfort in knowing that you can now look into how to prevent this happening again. It's a position I'm hoping to get to, but fear I won't. Thinking of you.

spilt I cannot imagine how you are feeling - likely overwhelmed by all the info. Give yourself and DH lots of hugs.

I agree with Lady, we have cats and when i was pg with DD I remember reading that the likelihood of toxoplamosis was low as it's easy to catch and once you've caught it, it's pretty much impossible to catch it again.

However, when it's a future baby we're talking about, I can imagine you won't want to take any risks.
Do you have a good friend or relative who would be prepared to have them the next time you get pg?
You've got a while to think about it and at least you and DH can give each other some TLC over xmas.

Thanks everyone for your words when AF arrived. Feeling a bit better about it - had 2nd lot of acupuncture today too.
Bizarrely, I have also got my 3 yearly smear reminder in. Now the last time I had one, we conceived DD about 2 weeks later, having TTC to a year. maybe good omens for this cycle.

Only downside is that if I ov between 18 and 25, that gives me an AF expectation of running up to and including xmas! Bum.

Finally (sorry for long post) I keep reading things about thyroids. Are they important (I know nothing) and how would you know if you had a dodgy one?

MrsA short answer. Yes they are - can impact on fertility, cognitive development of baby and also increased risk of mc. Will also tend to make you feel quite ill - constantly tired, lethargic, brain fog, cold (low BBT's), thinning hair, croaky voice. Or confusingly some people have very little symptoms. Simple blood test to diagnose. HTH.

The even better news, is that I feel shocking today symptoms include: banging headache, lack of appetite (couldnt eat my lunch today,and dont fancy anything this evening, still very sore boobs, very achey around all of my pelvis including stomach, hips, lower back and even an aching feeling in my fanjo! and to top it off I am absolutely exhausted. Got in from work and promptly lay down on the sofa before even taking my coat off.
So I bought a test!!!!.............

spilt Glad you have your answer but totally understand how all that info has knocked you for six. I don't know anything about toxoplasma, so can't help you much sorry. I think it will be hard for you to wait to TTC but good that once you have the anti-bodies you'll know the same thing can't happen again (is that right?)

MrsA there is a thread that i started about under-active thyroid. I only found out about mine by accident after my last MC.

I agree with lady - I think it can have an effect on a womans ability to conceive in that it can muck up your cycle and make it harder to detect when/if you ovulate. There doesn't seem to be that much proof that it can cause MC's - although a lot of us on the thread have had MC's - but that could be co-incidence. You definitely have to keep an eye on your levels once you are pregnant.
