The (updated) 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday. Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended). Horse-riding and other dangerous activities are also actively encouraged.

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at ever opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Keep acronmyage to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'. Try not to get sucked in by Fertility Friend (at least for a while), but knowing where you are in your cycle and furkling for pant snot is most definitely allowed. If you're a midwife, you can even get other midwives to furkle for you Grin

Keep us up to date with gossip!

Most of these rules are well and truly broken!! But we try to chill - honest

Miffles · 19/10/2010 19:07

aahhh....blame it on the baby you're growing! But I really am serious - how can a pudding self-sauce?!

crowette · 19/10/2010 19:16

ooooh chocolate and tea sounds good NMCB can I have Earl Grey please?

Mind you, I've just bought 2 tubs of Ben and Jerry's ice cream - only because it was 2 for £3 [hgrin]

Miffles · 19/10/2010 19:18

I was just nose-ing on another thread and came across an interesting link: here and the bit that BB won't want to read is this:

Do not buy internet pregnancy tests or tests that claim to work before your period is expected. They are not well manufactured and are not reliable. They will only cause you more anxiety than you already feel in wanting to know. Please resist the urge to do a blood test at your doctor's office just to find out sooner unless you have a medical reason to know early. Fertilized eggs that do not grow are actually a terrible but normal occurrence as much as 75% of the time, and seeing a very low put positive blood test in the first 14 days can place you on a terrible emotional roller coaster. By the time a home pregnancy test is positive, your baby has safely implanted and your odds of miscarriage are down to a normal 10%.

Whether it's true or not, don't know, but I like the sound of reducing my risk of miscarriage from 75% to 10%. Actually, the risk is the same, but you didn't know it happpened if you didn't test early! Nelly - lets keep waiting!!

Miffles · 19/10/2010 19:23

It also says about EWCM (don't know why it doesnt call it pant snot!) and says it's crucial for the sperm to meet the egg. And clomid can dry you up, so the sperm has a harder time getting to the egg. She suggests some kind of cough medicine (Hmm) but maybe milano's pre-seed is to help the same thing.

vallinnapod · 19/10/2010 19:31

Just POAS. No idea why.....home alone and saw them while hunting out the fake tan.

No prizes for guessing the result. I am an idiot.

Miffles · 19/10/2010 22:47

bless you, vallinna - you're on the pill. It's ok. It's a means to an end. But it's not likely that you'll get a BFP right now. Put on your fake tan and have a cuppa and watch a movie. It'll be ok. xx

NervousNelly · 19/10/2010 23:12

By cuppa, she means wine of course....

miffles don't worry I'm still waiting, but I think the spotting is cranking up a notch. So not even sure I'll make it till Thursday. I've resigned myself to the inevitable, and had a humungous glass of wine tonight, so I'll be in for a big shock if this isn't what I think it is [hwink]

takethatlady · 20/10/2010 08:56

vallinna we've all tested when we shouldn't. It never hurts just to check, I say.

Hmmm miffles I don't know what that site is actually getting at. Cheap internet tests are exactly the same as home pregnancy tests, just without all the packaging. And all home pregnancy tests claim they'll give you a result before your period is due. And I've never seen statistics as high as 75% before for chemical pregnancies - I thought it was more like 25-50%. Bit weird ... But as I'm an absolute minimum of 14DPO now (and possibly 16DPO) I'm still taking the fact that it says my chance of mc is only 10% now. Going to the doctor tomorrow.

I can't believe your best friend had the same thing with the curls and the short back and sides! I grew up in Kent. Maybe we had the same god forsaken hairdreser Grin

PMSL at the self-saucing pudding Grin

Okay, I have a question. Two of DH's sisters are celebrating their birthday on Saturday (they are twins). I am very close to them and they will be mortally offended if I do not participate without a decent excuse. But their planned celebrations are Go Ape (for which I have just handed over £27, knowing full well I can't do it) and then a night out with the theme 'Getting Tipsy, Wearing Lipsy' (:)). Now as Go Ape recommend that pregnant women do not go swinging from trees, and as getting tipsy is now (fingers crossed) out of the question, I have got to come up with a whole load of excuses.

My only current plan is to turn up with DH on Saturday morning and pretend I am either fainting or throwing up (though the latter might give them a hint I'm preggo), and then to go out in my Lipsy dress and pretend to drink vodka and orange but in fact only be drinking orange juice. We really don't want to tell family until at least 8 weeks this time - it's just too awful to tell everyone and then have to break the bad news shortly after.

Any good lies up your sleeves ladies?

OP posts:
takethatlady · 20/10/2010 08:57

Errr... didn't make that clear. Obviously I will tell them I have fainted or have been sick, rather than actually pretend to faint or be sick there and then Grin

Morning viroids. Working from home today. So no-one looking over my shoulder! Grin

We've got a strong pair of 2ww'ers in nervous and miffles. Are you sure you aren't peeing in/on things and not telling us?! Hmm

Josie glad you like your hair. And you are right, GHDs are essential household items!

KC well done on the returning hair Smile I'd want to leave it well alone too!

Nomore I make a great self-saucing choc pudding thanks to Goodfood magazine. It's self saucing miffles in that you pour water, sugar and cocopower over the cake mixture and stick it in the oven. the water mixture sinks to be bottom and becomes a great sticky sauce.

Did ATM write that post about internet pg tests?! Hmm I'm going to pee on all 100 of my sticks and no-one can stop me! Grin

Don't worry vallinna I POAS once when I was on the pill too! Grin

takethat I've got to make a similar excuse. We've got a big work night out next week involving an overnight stay. But it will be CD11 for me and I have ov'ed on the last 2 cycles on CD12. So need to stay home to shag!! Can you stick a bandage on your ankle and pretend you've twisted it?

Right, so we've got our upduffed girls and the hard-as-nails 2ww'ers. Where is everyone else in their cycles?

takethatlady · 20/10/2010 09:53

Aaaah twisted ankle - what a great excuse! It doesn't require too much in the way of acting skills and it doesn't involve people panicking about my fainting fits ...

On the other hand a bandage is going to totally ruin my lovely dress ...

Went to woolies (food shop) on way home and found grapefruit juice and brazil nuts in my basket! Blush
am v impressed with miffles and nervous don't know how you have done it!!? i was terrible and i dont even think we BDd nr ov!
TTL could always go with the dodgy stomach excuse, no one argues with the squits! Could also work for not drinking in eve if they notice?! tho maybe the OJ will look like a bad choice.
nomorechoc it was freezing here in winter... 4 degs in the mornings/evenings and NO heating, brr! am back in the UK for 2 weeks over xmas tho so dont worry, will get a decent dose of winter! hehe!
a friend txt me yesterday after her 12 week scan...am v excited for her but gotta admit a little Envy !! and i almost find myself telling her i might get upduffed soon... such a big mouth... i managed to restrain before looking nuts tho!
lol to the short, back and sides curly top look btw, cannot even imagine how that looks?! worst 2 hair do's for me were courtesy of my mum... too short fringe and a home dye blonde orange! yuk!
GHDs are def a household need josie (tho my DH prob wouldnt get it!) mine have lasted since 1st yr at uni (clearly student loan was used well)but totally with you frank on the curling tongs... i just can't do it, its easier to use GHD to make waves than tongs!
i was planning on making 'home made brek bars' this eve (never done them before) but now can't be ars*d... the eco guy at school made me feel bad about all the packaging around brek bars... but now have several bags of nuts etc all in own bloomin packaging anyway!?
Confused

NervousNelly · 20/10/2010 11:15

Morning all!

Well- CD1 for me :(. Not a particular surprise so not totally down, just in a minor sulk [hhmm].

cremegg I have in my heart of hearts known I wasn't up-duffed hence it was just a matter of time. I had NO symptoms, not even clicky joints or sore ankles or tingly hands Wink. need to plan next attempt carefully due to OH being away for a few days, very inconsiderately.

In other news it was -1 this morning, very frozen puddles so must have been brrr overnight .

NervousNelly · 20/10/2010 11:19

By the way BB, pmsl at "hard as nails"! In fact, just Scottish and tight, so too mean to waste the 20p test [hwink].

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 20/10/2010 11:38

well my lovely viroids. I can finally admit it. I am up the duff![hgrin][hgrin]Grin Sticky bean is still stuck.

DH had his first 'communication' with sticky bean last night. My stomach is no longer my own Grin. I'm making a celebration meal tonight and we're on the hard stuff (scholer) now.

Wonder how TTL is getting on today?

[hsad] for CD1 Nelly better luck next month. So Miffles you're next to POAS then?! (And what Brassica said about self saucing. Can't believe you've never had a self saucing pud before!!)

Hope everyone else is well xxxx.

takethatlady · 20/10/2010 11:45

I've never had a self-saucing pud either! But I'm going to now [hsmile]

Sorry about CD1 nervous. Bring on shagging for next cycle? Glad you're okay about it.

CONGRATULATIONS NMCB. Yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaa. Really glad you made it past your milestone and have let it all sink in! My DH is still being unbelievably cautious. I took another digi this morning (I'm out of tests now and will stop testing, I promise) and it said 'Pregnant' before I'd even pulled my knickers up [hgrin]. Still 1-2 weeks though. I reckon I'm only somewhere between 4+1 and 4+3. I was 4+2 last time. Still, it seems weird I got a really really strong BFP on CD10, so perhaps I am approaching five weeks ... can't be 100% sure.

Anyway, all going well here. Sticky still stuck. Boobs still hurting. BFP still P.

Was going to go to the doctor tomorrow but I'm now thinking I'll leave it another week. It can't hurt, and I'd like to feel a bit more confident about the pregnancy before I go, fill in all the forms, and then have to ring them up with bad news two days later (like last time).

I have been at work for three hours and all I have done is google miscarriage stats and go on MN threads. I need to do some work!!!

Morning everyone

I tried to post on here last night but stoopid phone wouldn't let me press post message?!

Have ordered my GHDs and they should arrive tomorrow!!!! [hgrin] [hgrin] [hgrin] Can't wait! Got fab news from best mate too (no she's not pregnant [hgrin]) - she has anxiety problems and panic attacks and struggles to get around on her own, but yesterday she went into the main shopping centre in town and went into a couple of shops on her own! It's the first time in 2 years she's been to town so she's really really pleased.

Nothing much to report here, only on CD5 so nowt much going on.

Hope everyone is having good days (but is wrapped up warm)

JosieSmith1 · 20/10/2010 12:02

Cross post

Congrats NoMore and TTL for sticky beans [hgrin][hgrin]

takethatlady · 20/10/2010 12:03

Aww congratulations to your friend josie that is an amazing milestone. Sounds like you're a lovely friend to her, too [hsmile]

Forgot to tell you ladies a funny story. Didn't happen to me this time, but to a friend who's just begun working at Oxford Uni in a junior temporary post. She had to go to a big posh dinner at her college where a Booker-prize-winning novelist was the guest. After dinner the Fellows went for a 'second dessert' and some sort of ritual where they pass the wine around three times. The novelist suggested that when people received the wine they have to say a line of poetry (what a total knob end). My friend started panicking and couldn't think of anything to say, but went with the first line of Beowulf which she had just been teaching. Then came the turn of a young, newlya-appointed female scientist, who said she did not know any poetry. Instead of letting her not say anything, the whole room started saying 'come on, of course you know some poetry. COME ON!'

In the height of embarrassment, the girl resorted to a line from ....... Poker Face [hgrin] By Lady Gaga [hgrin]. She didn't go for 'I'm bluffin' with my muffin' but 'Russian roulette is not the same without a gun'. Another young Fellow tried to help her out by saying 'The next line's
better - 'And baby when it's love if it's not rough it isn't fun'.' Grin

Apparently a lot of the older Fellows could be heard scratching their heads and saying, 'Who is "Lady Ga-Ga"?'

Spat my drink out when I was reading my friend's email about this. Thought it might tickle you ladies too [hgrin]

TTL - I'm loving the tubey grip idea. Can you say that you fell off the kurb/tripped over something??

Thanks for not laughing too hard at my POAS moment Grin

BrassicaBabe · 20/10/2010 13:12

So CD6 for creme, CD5 for josie and CD4 for me. so we're already lining up the next crew of mad 2ww'ers!

Congratulations for coming out of the BFP cupboard nomore! [hgrin] I bought schloer and elderflower presse when I had my BFP. Although the elderflower one is better with gin or vodka!

haha for your friend takethat
