Highheels I am sorry that it's been so Confused for you.

I have just come back from the ultrasound on my ovaries and we got talking about early preg scans; and she said although 5 weeks is when you can usually see something (and 6 weeks for a heartbeat), if ovulation and implantation were late, things can be a week off. Apparently implantation can happen between 4 and 12 DPO which is an enormous variable when you are so early on.

I don't know anything about fallopian tubes though.

I won't bother saying try not to worry because I know it's not that easy. I am sending a big hug though xxxx

gardenpixie · 10/11/2010 16:54

PS HH if they suspected an ectopic, I am sure they would have told you to look out for signs like sudden pain, discharge etc as it's quite serious so I doubt they'd let you go without briefing you on it. Don't know if that's much help ... but just thought of it

raspberrytipple · 10/11/2010 17:59

oh highheels Im so sorry you had such a bad time at your scan, I can understand how frightened you and DP must feel. All I can say is make sure you and DP keep talking and supporting each other, I am sure you will go back on Friday and will be able to see something. I agree with garden that if they suspected ectopic they would have given you signs to look out for and I would imagine would have had you in for more tests a little sooner than Friday. Also - try not to google too much, I know you desperately want to give yourself some reassurance but google will throw up so many conflicting results that will just leave you in even more of a tizzy. Look after yourself and let us know how you get on with the appointment on friday. Will be thinking of you and DP xx

highheelsandequations · 10/11/2010 18:42

Thanks garden and raspberry, I posted a message on the pregnancy thread and somebody apparently had fluid in a fallopian tube at 7+ weeks and was told it was okay. Have found quite a few stories of women not seeing anything at 5 weeks and going on to have normal pregnancies so trying not to panic too much. Suppose now it's just a case of keeping fingers crossed, thinking happy thoughts and waiting.

womanlytales · 10/11/2010 19:04

highheels - Sending you a big hug - you have had a scare. Am glad you got advice on the pregnancy thread. I've got all my fingers crossed for you - - am thrilled you're thinking happy thoughts :)

LankyLegs · 10/11/2010 19:53

Highheels sweets - sending you positive thoughts and vibes - I think the advice you have recieved is spot on my dear. I think it must be hard to remain calm and positive but as garden said 5 weeks is still really early. Also ectopics are supposed to be really painful so as long as you dont get sudden pains I would try and focus on the blood test.

Hope everyone else is ok - the back of the week has been broken and only 2 days left!

Josie well done for remaining calm about being on CD26! Hope the next 2 days are positive.

Garden how did the scan go my dear?

womanly and tomboy thank you for the b'day wishes too. Womanly hope you are having a good week - any progress?

*Flick enjoy camp Confused xxx

Florin great news on EWCM! Get shagging girl!

Zippys come back and tell us how wedding plans are going! Have you chosen a venue??

Lorra love all xxxx

HRHCavey · 10/11/2010 21:14

HighHeels sorry you've had a rough day, I'm sending you lots of positive vibes. The only advice I can give is "step away from the Google"! It can be evil!

gardenpixie · 10/11/2010 22:10

Highheels I hope you are feeling a bit more reassured and that you are able to relax and take care of yourself

Lanky thanks for asking, the scan went well, she said she could clearly see a collapsed follicle and by the size of it she thinks I ovulated on Saturday which would make sense given I had the hcg shot on Friday. So I am quite Smile about it! How are you? I hope everything is going well

MissFlick I am sending stay sane vibes your way and I hope the kiddlings are all behaving themselves!

Lots of love and night night to everyone xxx

Truffkin · 10/11/2010 22:48

HighHeels really hope you and DP are looking after eachother this evening. Totally understand why you feel worried but hope it is all ok when you go back on Friday. Sending big

TomboyWife · 10/11/2010 22:54

Aw Highheels, so sorry you've had such a rotten day. As everyone says, try not to worry too much. I know, I know, easier said than done.

MissFlick if you manage to survive camp without murdering any pupils you will be a better man - er, woman - than I. Good luck! Grin

The mucus is unclear, but I think I may have ovulated a couple of days ago. Meanwhile I think I might be catching that cold that half of London has. Joy...

JosieSmith1 · 11/11/2010 08:45

Aw Highheels hope you're ok and get some answers soon. Big hugs your way

I had a sad day yesterday (not TTC relate and not the same I know) but friend text to say she'd had her horse put to sleep as he'd broken his leg. Not only that, friend was in Tenerife at the time and her 16yr old daughter who actually owns the horse had to deal with it on her own. Apparently she's in bits poor girl Sad. I nearly cried when she text me, while sitting at work (bearing in mind I didn't even well up when my colleague of 4 years left on tue Blush, I'm definitely an animal person Grin)

Anyway, enough negativity, I am counting down the days to the weekend (more horsey reasons, won't got into them for fear you'll all fall asleep and kick me off Grin) and notlong left now!

Morning everyone

Hope you're all well?

Highheels how are you doing? I am handing over special breakfast crumpets for you

Tomboy I hope you are feeling better and that the evil London virus has decided to retreat

MissFlick Did you survive? I am full of admiration for your bravery Grin

Lanky how are you doing today?

HRHCavey One of my friends has just enrolled in a Salsa class and I thought of you when she was talking about how wonderful it is. It must be amazing to be able to teach it

gardenpixie · 11/11/2010 08:57

Josie sorry x-posts. That is sad about your friend's horse ... awful. Glad you are looking forward to the weekend though Grin

HRHCavey · 11/11/2010 09:05

Morning all

Josie so sorry to hear about your friends horse. It's a horrible thing to have to deal with. What exciting horsey things do you have planned?! Tell! I won't let them kick you out ;)

garden glad your friend enjoyed her salsa class! I handed in my colic work, I'm finishing up a presentation on Ringworm at the moment - lovely!

Hope MissFlick has survived her trip!

MissFlick · 11/11/2010 09:26

Hello my dears,

I did survive- but only just! We were camping on top of a mountain and it was so cold- I wore 7 layers on top to sleep in and had two sleeping bags! To top it off, we spent today out on the water kayaking and today it was so hot that I got massively sun burnt! The joys of strange weather and being a teacher.

I'm just posting on my phone on my way to my scan appointment to send hugs to HH and say that i second all of the excellent advice that the girls have already given you.

Hope you have a lovely weekend away garden did you get in for a progesterone test today in the end?

Hugs and waves to all, will catch up tomorrow- have misses you all this week x x

Oh Josie just saw about your friend's horse. That's so sad :( hope you're doing and and your friend and her daughter too x x x

OP posts:
gardenpixie · 11/11/2010 09:33

Hi MissFlick well done on surviving! I hope your scan goes well - do keep us posted! I am not going to have a P test this cycle as the ultrasound yesterday showed I had ovulated so I don't want to do another test just to confirm it (especially as it will cost ANOTHER £90 on top of everything else)! It was fascinating seeing a post ov corpus luteum on the ultrasound - unlike the lovely round mature follicles, it just looked a bit squashy like a deflated balloon. Ovaries are just mad things aren't they! Hmm Good luck for your scan, I am sending big fat follicle vibes your way xxxx

slowshow · 11/11/2010 09:55

Highheels - do you think there's a chance you could be less than five weeks? You said you weren't entirely sure when you might have ovulated. Keeping my fingers crossed for you for tomorrow. I'm so sorry the scan didn't go as expected, you must be beside yourself Sad Try to stay positive though.

MissFlick · 11/11/2010 10:11

Thanks garden am on my way home now. My follicle wasn't quite big enough! Boo, it was 17.5mm so I need to go back for my injection of ovidrel 250mcg tomorrow evening. I then have to have a progesterone test on the 20th early in the morning so they can get my results within two hours and call me back for more medication should my level need to stabilized... Have not heard of that before but thought I would ask questions if and when I need to. I also have the blood test form for a pregnancy test on 29th nov in my hand which I feel a bit freaked out by and I'm not sure why? Perhaps it's because I'm thinking how awful it would be to be waiting for a phone call for that result? She said I don't have to have the blood test though so will decide about that if my p test shows I have actually ovulated.

I'm so pleased that you've ovulated :) and that it was just the one egg! yippee and now you have a long weekend away to take your mind off the horrible wait next week.

Sorry for going on and on about myself Blush

OP posts:
gardenpixie · 11/11/2010 10:20

Ooooooh MissFLick , 17.5mm so it will be at least 19.5 / 20 mm by tomorrow - brilliant! Grin

So you know what you and Mr Flick need to be doing tonight .... Wink

Exciting / scary about the pg blood test - do you think you'll go for that or a POAS test? I am sure you will ov as that follicle sounds like it's big enough to pop by itself, so the trigger shot will just give it a bit more swimmer-seeking ooomph.

MissFlick · 11/11/2010 10:39

Thanks for your reassurances! My doctor reckons it will pop 36 hours after the injection but I don't believe her so I will be doing it everyday from today until into next week to be sure :) I think she is a bit of a prude as she has never mentioned sex and instead calls it 'doing your homework' Grin so she says to 'do my honework' Saturday night and Sunday morning but like I said, I shall be employing my own tactics!

Am not sure about the pregnancy test, I think it feels so scary as this will be the only time I am certain of when I ovulated (if I do of course!) so there will be a very real chance that it could actually be a BFP does that make sense?! And if it's not of course I will be extra specially gutted but I must think positively and not even think about that test until I have had the injection and progesterone test x x

OP posts:
gardenpixie · 11/11/2010 10:49

Hahahaha Flick I love the idea of a Dr who can't say "sex", brilliant! I know what you mean about the reality of actually possibly getting a BFP! I have been TTC for so long now that I just don't believe it's going to happen so whenever anyone like my Dr or the ultra sound lady yesterday says things like "you'll be pg soon" and "see you in four weeks for your six week scan" I get all funny about it. I guess we'll get used to it when we get our BFPs! (See, even writing that I might get a BFP has made me feel al funny)!

HRHCavey · 11/11/2010 11:41

Glad you had good news from the scan MissFlick! a mighty impressive follicle!
As I've said before, this ttc lark would be so much easier if we took as much attention with ourselves as we did with the mares on the racehorse stud I used to work on! Once they were confirmed in season they were scanned daily by the vet to see if they had put up a follicle; once the follicle was big enough they were sent to the stallion and then scanned again daily to see if they had ovulated. If the follicle didn't pop within 2 days they were sent back to the stallion again! Clincal, yes, but it worked 90% of the time!

womanlytales · 11/11/2010 12:08

HRH Agree with that clinical method - we should be able to just walk in to clinics for scans and be monitored to get somewhere..rather than live in that 'it will happen eventually' bubble.

Flick Best of luck with the injection and preg test
HH - hope you're relaxing and not letting the waiting get to you.
Lanky - How are you doing today? Good to see you at the top of the list sending you lots of baby dust perhaps the bfp was waiting for your bday to present itself :)
Garden Have a lovely holiday :) Also good job in getting the scan out of the way - - it must be great knowing that you've ovulated and you're closer to a bfp :)

Waves to Tomboy, Truff and Toria -- Also Alien sending you a lot of baby dust - are you getting ready to poas this weekend?

womanlytales · 11/11/2010 12:09

I think we're going to see a flurry of bfps in november -- i can just feel it :)

raspberrytipple · 11/11/2010 12:42

Hello ladies, I will clock in properly tonight but I still have no news and no ERTD. Did another test yesterday morning and BFN. Had to have a flu jab yesterday but they wouldnt do it until I got my period. I'm getting cross now, I either want my BFP or BERTD to show up so I can get going again. I even ranted at my mother last night and she said 'god your worse than I was'. She's very level headed though and calmed me down. I am going to test again tomorrow morning and after that I am going to the doctors because I've never had a cycle this long. I'm cramping in the evenings a bit but that's it. I still have nausea and am absolutely knackered all the time. raaaaaa - its driving me mad!!

See you all later for a proper catch up xx
