Settle down girls settle down as I hand you all a yummy pornstar cocktail complete with a sparkler and tacky umbrella. I take it we are all wearing our fabulous vintage 50's frocks, high heels and have our red lipstick on? Make yourself comfortable in the penthouse... the naked butlers are just heading in with grapes and truffles in trays...

All new first timers welcome - as long as suitable goodies and alcohol are dropped into the penthouse for all to share.

Oh and no AF around here - only FERTD.... Capishe??

No problem. The Supremes is in Season 5.

Bellaby · 01/09/2010 14:23

Grin Josie I hope I haven't spoiled it for anyone else! Good work on the SWI. Unfortunately it's me vs Dexter for DH attention and I'm not winning. Then again maybe I'm not trying that hard as it's win-win either way for me!

garden sorry to hear the scan was disappointing. Sad

Flick I hope that the tapas was nice. I love Tapas. Actually I just love food generally Grin

I've had my iPad at work today and been back & forth to the city which is great as it's given me the chance to spend more time on here with my TTC buddies!

pixiestix · 01/09/2010 14:25

Woweeee! Congratulations Kurly and Roam!! Smile Smile

September is going to be a bumper month for BFP's and for babies!! Hooray! Grin

[scuttles off back to Grads as hardly anyone on here knows me any more!]

Bellaby · 01/09/2010 14:32

Crazy that's good to know. I will definitely get it now. I loved Lost but didn't like Heroes.

I will add How I met your mother & Cougars to my list. Have you seen Fringe and True Blood - I really like those ones too. Prison Break & 24 are both great.

Cave I didn't like House as found it a bit samey if you know what I mean.

I hope i don't run out of tv series for maternity leave Grin

kurlyvoice · 01/09/2010 14:33

Oooo, discussion of TV - that's my kind of chat! Grin DH and I love the West Wing and I'm almost getting to the point when it's time to start watching it all over again! I also love Buffy and Friends and Dawson's Creek and Desperate Housewives and was hooked to the first series of 24 but haven't seen anymore... yet...! I'd like to get into Bones as I've watched a few random episodes with friends and loved it, not least the eyecandy of David Boreanaz.

I've bought my Clearblue Digital but it says not to use it until morning if I want the conception indicator to be accurate. Should have bought two! Thanks to everyone for being so sweet - I know I've been hiding but it did seem hopeless. If this does actually work, I hope to make everyone feel better - so take heart, cavey and evilgiraffe.

Flick, you are a sweetheart and I promise to be a good girl now that things are somewhat more positive. I've missed you all too but was trying to avoid being doomy-and-gloomy and the staying away seemed to help! Thanks for the folic acid reassurance, OneOf8, and Flo, I am VERY scared that it's all imagined so some kind words from experienced graduates will be most appreciated. I might leave it until tomorrow's CB test before I actually come over, though...

Congratulations to roamfree too - I bet you have a better idea of when you conceived than me! I've been trying to work out when my duedate would be but guess I'll have to wait until the CBdigi gives me some kind of indication and then I guess I should make an appointment with the doctor! How are you feeling? Do you have any pregnancy symptoms? I've been feeling nauseous all day but I think a lot of that is start-of-term-jitters and not believing that I can really have a BFP! Eeeeeek...

roamfree · 01/09/2010 15:18

OK, that didn't take long - I'm back! Just had to weigh in on the TV box set conversation. Can't believe noone has mentioned The Sopranos - amazing show. Also just finished the final series of The Wire, which was excellent. bellaby - we watched it with subtitles on. My DH's first language isn't English so that was the initial reason, but I found I needed them as much as he did! I'm sure I would have missed half the plot otherwise. I was thinking about lining up Dexter as a new autumn/winter box set and all the recommendations on here make me think it's the right choice.

Kurly - many congrats to you too!! I'm so glad to have a BFP twin! Symptoms-wise - my boobs hurt, keep getting cramps, feel really hungry constantly, have a slight headache, feel very bloated (sitting here with jeans unzipped - I work from home btw so am not subjecting work colleagues to this!). Other than that, I'm fine! What about you? Oh, and yes, I'm pretty sure I know exactly when we conceived so I believe due date (assuming all goes well) will be 8th May.

A big hello to the lovely flick, cavey, crazy, lanky, josie, toria, garden and all the other regulars on here. I've really enjoyed your company and wish you all nothing but good and happy things.

felicityFlick · 01/09/2010 15:39

Just popping in before bed. LOVING the TV chat- I am such a box set- a -holic! So pleased you all love The West Wing, I have the entire box set that I got for a birthday present two years ago and have not started it Blush You have given me the kick up the bum to crack on with it as you all rave about it!

kurly can't wait to hear all about your Clearblue digital in the morning!

pixiestix I'm still here :) I remember when you got your BFP!!!

Glad you came back roam

You know I was suspicious of my DH taking me out and generally acting strange? Well, he wanted to give me a big talking to about not getting stressed out about ttc and said that he understands my frustrations about my stupid cycle but stressing isn't going to help.He said that we may have to face many more obstacles down the road and that this was just the start so I needed to just get on with it and not wallow and moan. He basically told me to HTFU (you get me?! Wink)but in a nice way and it was just what I needed to snap me out of the woe is me stage. So, tomorrow I shall moan no more :)

Have a nice rest of your day all xx

crazybutterflylady · 01/09/2010 15:57

Aww Mr flick sounds like a love! Mr C worries that I want everything yesterday but I do think it's hard when it's your body that's responsible for all this, it's tough to stay patient.

...Now get opening the West Wing missy, you don't know what you're missing. It is fab-u-lous!
x

Toriajayne · 01/09/2010 16:03

Crazy and Cave, I'm another How I Met
Your Mother fan :) And Buffy, and Angel, not got into 30 Rock yet but have it waiting, I've just finished watching Bones from start to finish and am waiting for True Blood to turn up along with The Big Bang Theory, which I try to keep up with on E4 but have missed loads of. I did try to watch Flashforward but lost it. Will give it another shot one day, same with West Wing which I liked but lost track of. I was another Lost fan, though threw a complete wobbler about halfway through season five and stopped liking it as much, but forced myself to see it through lol.

Bellaby I tried to get into Fringe but again, lost track, is it worth trying again?

Flick Bless your DH. Glad you're feeling a bit better about it all Am I right in thinking your appt is Monday with the specialist? Hope they give you some answers and you can both chill a bit. He sounds like my OH actually, suspect we'll be having that conversation at some point following the look he gave me when I asked him if he'd take Zinc and climb/ride his bike less...

Just been to the Dr, he diagnosed me with "viral gastritis", which as far as I can gather is an umbrella term for any unexplained, self limiting stomach/gastric problems. Still, feeling brand new today so fingers crossed that's it gone! He was very young though, bless him, and I think I embarassed him with my TTC questions. May ask for a woman if I have to go back hehehe. He did say it sounds like we're doing all the right things though, didn't mention my weight and left me feeling very positive about the whole thing :)

Also, this morning my cheapie tests AND my Glee CD came so, all in all, a good day the Toria household :D

gardenpixie · 01/09/2010 16:08

Oooooooh TV chat!

I vote for the West Wing! A friend of mine is a copy writer in an ad agency and told me he thinks the script writers for WW are brilliant - which means we should not feel guilty about watching loads of it but think of it as stretching our minds with wonderful vocab and improving our intellects.

Thanks for all your kind words re the scan. I was really down about it as I had convinced myself that I am never going to ov or get pg. In fact I was such a dufus that I ended up sobbing while taking my dog out for a run. Fortunately I had shades on so people must have thought I was just REALLY pushing myself and sweating buckets rather than crying. (Although obviously it looked like I had really sweaty cheeks as the rest of my face was dry ... hmmmm, maybe I am kidding myself that people didn't realise I was a jogging loon)

But then I think I do ov - I mean, it would be really unlikely to get EWCM and a soft cervix (sorry, TMI) 10 to 14 days before ERTD and for it not to be ov, right? Or am I being daft?

AND I am pretty sure I had a chemical pg earlier this year where I had two positive pg tests followed by negative ones just before ERTD was due. Two positives isn't just a fluke, is it? Confused

So if the clomid had no effect at all, then I still might ov around my normal time which is CD20 / CD21 (way too far in the future for a viable follicle to show up on a scan I think)?

Oh bollocks to it. It would be so typical of my nightmarishly contrary body to stop ovulating in response to clomid though Angry

Gosh, sorry, what a dull rant for everyone!

I will mix an extra large jug of cocktails by way of penance and bake some cheesy straws ...

Flick your DH sounds great! I love the fact that you had worked out something suspicious was going on though! Men, bless them. They think they are all subtle and they just aren't ... Hope you are feeling cheerier lovely xx

gardenpixie · 01/09/2010 16:10

Toria poor you with gastritis ... horrid for you. Are you OK? Big hugs and cups of clear, non irritating, PH neutral fluids for you ...

crazybutterflylady · 01/09/2010 16:14

garden I make you right... you are too early to be even contemplating OV yet surely? Pregnology will give you more info but it sounds like you could still OV this month, just later on?

Bless you, jogging loon hehe. I am sure it did you the world of good though, getting out to clear your head instead of it spinning round in there. I hope you have a good evening, try to zone out if you can manage it.

x

gardenpixie · 01/09/2010 16:16

Thanks Crazy I was thinking of you earlier - I was in my garden and there were six red admirals and a comma butterfly on my budlia!

crazybutterflylady · 01/09/2010 16:25

Wow, I am jealous! I only ever see cabbage whites AND I have a budlia :(

Nice that you thought of me when you saw them though, that will make up for it Grin

Toriajayne · 01/09/2010 16:32

Garden Thank you, I'm eating more today which I suppose is a good sign, and water no longer gives me heartburn. Woo!

I'm with Crazy on the ov thing, if you normally ovulate later than this then chances are it's too early to see it if they are working on "standard" dates?

And just for the truly superstitious and those who look for signs, butterflies are always a good omen for my friends and I :)

crazybutterflylady · 01/09/2010 17:58

Can I ask you all a very quick question... if there is a feint line in the positive window is it because it has detected a lower amount of hcg, or is it down to the test?

So, hypothetically, if I tested now and there was a really feint line, would there be a chance of a stronger line tomorrow morning, first pee?

hypothetically

x

crazybutterflylady · 01/09/2010 17:58

or faint, even. feint faint, meh.

gardenpixie · 01/09/2010 18:02

oh crazy how hyperthetically exciting!

what colour is the- line-- would the line be if you were to POAS?

a greyish line could be an evap line but if it is blue or pink then it might be time for another celebration!!!

raspberrytipple · 01/09/2010 18:05

ohh, congrats also to Kurly, this is turning into quite a month already and its only the first day!!!

Roam hope you have a very easy, lovely nine months! Hopefully we will all catch you up soon!

Lanky well done on going to the gym, I joined 18 months ago and have been about 7 times in total - twice last week when I forced myself to have a review of my programme to start again. I also do pole dancing which is much more fun than the gym but I shall have to be very careful if I get a BFP. I would however recommend it to anyone, I have muscles now that I never had from years of going to the gym (well, I havent been for 18 months but hey, whose counting!!!)

Josie you did make me laugh, that's exactly the sort of thing I do with my DP although if he was naked on the bed and ready to go I think I would go hungry and jump him all the same!!

Garden sorry to hear your news, fingers crossed for it getting better soon for you though and what sort of doctor jokes in a situation like that - are some people just stupid! Honestly

Felicityflick enjoy dinner - mid week are always the best although I drink when we go out for mid weeksies as the pub is walking distance from our house so weve avoided it for a while to cut down.....

Crazy cant help you with your question sorry, I haven't poas enough to know how they react sometimes...... does this mean you may also though be sporting a BFP???!!!

I have decided that, as my sainsburys £4.50 for two pk still has one in it and it can apparently detect four days before a period and because ERTD is due on Monday I am going to test on Saturday morning, I shall employ willpower til then!!! Wish me luck, i shall need it!

Nice to be back on this thread, I cant keep up it moves so fast and I cant join in with all the TV talk because I dont watch much TV at all so i shall just wave at everyone and keep a watchful eye on any more BFP's coming up!!! Ohh, I shall also look into getting a CBFM too.

Happy SWI if its that time of the month and good luck if POAS time for the rest!!!

Gosh, this must be my longest EVER post - I hope you are all impressed!!

CaveMum · 01/09/2010 18:05

crazy from what I understand the levels of HCG (I think) double every day so yes a faint line one day can be stronger the next.
The reason for using morning wee is because it will have been collecting overnight in your bladder overnight and will have a higher concentration.

Again, if I understand correctly, you can not get a false positive unless you are having IVF (due to the hormones you have to inject) so a line, no matter how feint faint Wink means there is a bun in the oven.

crazybutterflylady · 01/09/2010 18:09

If I had POAS it would be the same colour as the control line, just very feint faint light.

I am going to ask Mr C what he thinks, because I am worried I am imagining it because I want it to be there, IYKWIM.

OMG.

I will report back. But I think maybe I'll do one in the morning whatever.

gardenpixie · 01/09/2010 18:12

OMG Crazy if it's a line and it's the same colour as the control then I think it's a hat trick of BFPs for the frolickers today!
xx

crazybutterflylady · 01/09/2010 18:14

I am going mad here on my own, I have even thought about asking Florence (the cat) what she thinks Grin

I have just taken another test out of the wrapper to compare windows and there's definitely something there on one and not on the unused one.

I wish Mr C would get his backside home!!!

Eeeeeeek.
