tigger15 · 17/09/2010 15:50

Here's a different question for once. I've decided to give up for this month but because I can't be bothered to faff around with the diaphragm and we can't use condoms, dh and I have agreed to play russian roulette with the opk.

I am not controlling my blood sugar so if got pg (mini miracle in of itself)I would need another miracle to ensure that my blood sugar does not deform baby or cause another miscarriage. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to use the poas opk to avoid the poas at the end of the month? I've got a positive result today so how many more days do people think I need to wait before we can have SFF? (Prize of haddock risotto for the number of different meanings of that newly made up acronym.)

MummyAbroad · 17/09/2010 16:09

Hi Tigger

sex for fun? Sorry, I am not sure if you want to avoid pregnancy or not, if you are trying NOT to get pregnant then judging by my recent experience (see above) 3 days after OPK is still not "safe". Best thing would be to temp and then we you get three high temps in a row you would be safe. You would need to do OPK's more than once a day too.

wishing you (and all of us) a miracle or two!xxx

MamaPower · 17/09/2010 16:45

Sexy fun-filled frolics!! (I had to hyphenate to avoid one too many F's!!)

Hee hee, Hi tigger, good to see you it's been a while Smile. Hum tricky one, I was gonna suggest 48hours but looks like MA has ruled that one out on the basis of experience so I bow down to her knowledge!

reallygrumpy · 17/09/2010 17:05

Hello all, well I went for my scan today and still nothing still, the clomid hasn't worked. I've got to go back again on tues but it feels pretty pointless. I'm feeling v fed up about the whole thing and starting to wonder if I'll even manage to get pg and have a second child. DH and I have been chatting and we're wondering if we should just accept that we're only going to have one child rather than spending all this energy and money trying to get pg and me taking these drugs with awful side effects. Sorry, another post that's all about me.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 17/09/2010 17:36

reallygrumpy (((hugs))) sorry about the scan. I have to admit I don't know much about clomid, but I know when my sister was having IVF she had at least one scan when the drugs to stimulate her ovaries seemed to be doing absolutely nothing, she was devastated, then they upped the dosage slightly and hey presto, it worked. No idea if it's similar to what you're going through but maybe you also need higher dosage or more time? I hope you get some good news soon.

tigger -hope you're ok. I was going to suggest 72 hours to be safe, but tbh that's more of a guess than anything else.

nickstermum - any news on your dodgy BMW driver?

Am not looking fwd to this weekend - wedding of a family friend of DH. All inlaws will be there, it will be the first time I have seen most of them since the MC and they are mad and completely tactless at the best of times. Apart from ILs I don't know who else knew I was PG or about the MC and i'm just not sure I want to face a huge party at the minute - I am fine and getting on with life, seeing people etc but I haven't exactly been in the bIg party mood for the last couple of months and ILs are always a bit of a trial.

God, I'm turning into a whinger!! Sorry for moaning, I will resolve to put my best weekend head on now.

Anyway hope you're all ok and having a good Friday

nickstermum · 17/09/2010 18:28

Hello all,

ah grumpy am so sorry it was a negative scan :( What alternatives are there to clomid? would that be then full on IVF? i suppose you dont qualify on nhs do you if you already have a sproglet? i hope there is an improvement for you or that they offer you something else.... i understand you questioning it though.

Will be back later, fish and chips have just arrived and DH is out on the tiles tonight, so will catch up properly then.

MummyAbroad · 17/09/2010 21:09

did someone say wine? Get passing!

Sorry about your news grumpy wish I knew something about Clomid that would cheer you up, but I'm no expert either. Hope things start looking up soon. xxx

nickstermum · 17/09/2010 21:17

Evening all... peace & quiet in our hoose right now Grin

mamap whooop on the test, what is LPD?

Tigger Shags for fun..... Some Funny F*cking, Some Fanny Farts, ah god the list is endless.....Grin.. i wouldnt have a clue when the safe tume would be.

Izz stick your nose in the air like you just dont care! Go for a couple of hours and sit in the corner!Im still not making any effort to go and do anything or see people. Still in the hibernating mode! Its horrid wondering what people are thinking or saying fuelled by booze , makes it worse. See how much you can put up with, then leave!

Jam hope you get some clarity soon... i too am in WTF cycle not yet got AF post MC. Its frustrating isnt it :( hang in there toots!
Must be a day for docs! I went this morn to see if i have an infec - bloody doc did my smear at the same time so no SWI tonight!!

PS - BOA are you out there?!

CaribouMoo · 17/09/2010 21:59

Hello girls, I've been away a few days for work this week and trying my bestest to catch up now. I see at least three new names so waves to newbie girls. Hugs to reallygrumpy and izzy and anyone else who is having a bad time. Hurrah for MamaP on getting the tests!

Sorry I haven't caught up on everyone's news, too tired now to read and take in all those posts. Promise to pay more attention now that I am back.

Tigger, are you in contact with Sarahmia? I've been wondering how she is doing. Hope you're all having a good weekend x

MamaPower · 17/09/2010 22:31

YRMOTB Good luck with the Great North run this weekend, I want blood, sweat and tears in return for my sponsorship, hee hee!!

Nicks Luteal phase defect. Basically my luteal phase is 8 days, gp's recommend a minimum of 10 but pref 12 days, anything less than 10 means you can't retain a pg and is probably the reason for my 2nd mc, I suspect the first mc screwed my hormones! The bloods will confirm the LPD and then I will be prescribed progesterone. I did consider AC as a natural alternative and I know MA is an advocate, however, it shouldn't be used during pg and I don't want to stop ttc whilst trying to resolve the problem. Hope you're enjoying the peace and quiet Smile

Sorry to hear your news Grumpy. Hugs for you and Jam and anyone else needing one right now.

Izzy hope the wedding doesn't turn into a trial for you. If all else fails, Vodka is the answer Grin

Hope you are taking it nice and easy Caribou

MummyAbroad · 17/09/2010 23:52

Actually MamaP I have never used AC and wouldnt because I had post natal depression and it seems to have very serious effects on people prone to depression. I used Red Clover Blossom which is proven to do absolutely nothing but I am hoping I the placebo effect will make it work for meSmile

MamaPower · 18/09/2010 00:31

Oh sorry MA I thought from the other thread you had used it, my mistake, sorry hon! I've not heard of RCB

MummyAbroad · 18/09/2010 01:05

s'awright. Posts are so fast and furious around here, we all need a memory aid vit supplement to keep up! Grin

DachshundsRule · 18/09/2010 08:24

hello all

sorry to hear your news grumpy. There are other drugs as well as clomid - have you tried any of the injectables? They told me that next time I'd need to be on the injectables rather than the clomid anyway, as clomid can hinder the growth of your uterine lining so even if you have lots of nice follies the result won't have enough to implant into, so try to remain positive - at least you are on a treatment path. (Easier said than done, as evidenced by my despairing posts after my first clinic visit...)

Hugs for everyone else that needs them.

Sorry for just a short post, but the builder is due any minute, so I'm going to need to shut the computer down and move it to a dustless place (Like several streets away - there's dust EVERYWHERE, and still no heating or hot water...)

Hope to check in later in the weekend. (I will probably be dogless for another week as well, because the building work is going slower than we thought so instead of picking the dogs up, DH has gone over to the kennels to ask them to keep them for another week)

Choccybick · 18/09/2010 10:25

Hi everyone,

I´ve made myself pretty scarce here since the BFN. Day 10 today. woohoo - yes already getting into SWI.
We´re off on holiday to Greece tomorrow so looking forward to a 10 day break. DH got excited about the fact our hotel suite has 2 tvs. I told him to FORGET watching telly.
Sun, Sea, swimming, Swi...
I´ll be back when its almost POAS time to get ready for fish slapping.
All take care and fingers crossed for those at the top of the list whilst Im gone. Might pop back inbetween washing, waiting on clothes to dry to iron and then pack suitcase.....can´t believe Im so un-organised.

Sorry grumpy

Hugs and finger crossing for everyone.
choccy

YRMOTB good luck on the run! It's beautifully sunny down south so hopefully you've got the same up there.
Mamapower I'm no expert on AC, plan to start taking it but am going to talk to a nutritionist just to check, but from my understanding you can take it from day 1 of your cycle and then stop once you've ovulated. I don't know if taking it for half of the month would extend the luteal phase but it might be worth asking someone as from what I've read it is very effective.
Sorry about your news grumpy. I'm afraid I don't know anything about clomid, but hope that you get your questions answered and some good news soon.

DH taken DS to supermarket for me to catch up on MN I mean do some domestic chores, so had best get on xx

Xposted with you choc, have a lovely holiday!

MamaPower · 18/09/2010 12:02

Yay for Jam and her the return of her AF. Thanks also for information about AC.

Choccy I thought you'd already gone you been so quiet!! Have a lovely jolly.

LadyB and MA mission accomplished got myself a thermometer this morn so in combination with the OPK and temping I should be able to get as close as possible to pinpointing ov and therefore get the 7 day post ov bloods done at the right time. Thanks for the help with that one Smile.

Right girls, you know how I do love to bash DH's credit card...Bicester here I come Grin Grin Grin

Have a fab day all, it's bloomin gorgeous here at the mo Smile x
